*Pheonix NEEDS to get an Oscar for his performance. Period!*
They should give him one for losing that much weight, good god it was shocking to see him that skinny.
If he does get one i hope he receives it while dressed as a Joker. That would be fuckin legendary.
@kick ass true but if he doesn't. Its another proof that the whole thing is rigged
Phenomenal performance
I could imagine them in the theaters screaming, “RUN DAT THING BACK FAM!!!”.
my favorite scene is at end when the pull joker out the police car and he draws a smile with his blood
This movie was unreal! It’s so mad to think,
Thomas Wayne was a reason joker was created
Joker was a reason batman was created
I love how this movie was made. Ive read millions of comments, heard 100s of reviews. 90% theories that people have are different. And MOST of them make sense. Man i love this movie.
I didn’t consider that!!! So true!
More like his fucked up parents was the reason
I don't know if I can put that on Thomas Wayne. The press ran with their political theory of the train murder with little information. If the press didn't do that, those detectives would have caught Arthur almost immediately.
@@ShelbyBaby27 astute! Thats why the press media hates this movie
If phoenix doesn't receive an Oscar for Joker I might become the Joker..................
kanth44 inni I’m starting a riot if he ain’t
the movie is about an ill dude who´s searching for his own identity as a succesful comedian. a series of unfortunate events sets into motion that send this person into a downward spiral until he reaches a point where he just breaks and enters this sort of warped version of his own environment in which he actually ends up achieving his goal. he got famous. he became a performer. but for a totally different "audience": the criminally insane.
That is a long sentence my friend. You should break it :)
clown bad
I usually dont like movies when they're slow paced and don't have hardly any action in it but i LOVED this freaking movie! Obviously the story but the cinematography and the score...holy crap!
@@BR-fx8uy thats what i said that it wasnt an action movie and since you came at me like an asshole. how about you pay attention to what you're reading you idiot and MAKE SURE you understand whats being said!...jesus man (SMH)
Terri Reed LOL the guy that replied
Slow burn stories are imho the best ones around. Shawshank Redemption is a classic slow burn...and one of the best movies ever
My daughter and I loved this movie. The part we liked, well not like but in shock, was when we (the audience) realize he never spoke or spent time with the girl in those flashbacks, it was kinda heartbreaking.
I was so rattled by that!!! Also when he reads his mothers medical records....I silently cheered him when he was smothering her
Jeanine Mongrain We did to and I thought I was the only one who was kinda happy he killed her. My daughter cried during this movie, she was so upset. Originally she didn’t want to see it, she came out loving the movie.
The film was a masterpiece! The levels of this movie are off the scale!
Favorite scene : The bloody smile
There're alot of really good scenes but the one that gave me goosebumps was were he starts dancing in the bathroom after killing those three wall street guys , and the music behind it 😲 That was phenomenal. This were we see the breaking point of Arthur and the Joker is born .
Badass scene!! 😎😎😎😎😎💪💪💪💪💪💪
That scene Is beautiful
My iMac wallpaper.
Arms stretched out as his new followers cheer.
Beautifully done. Music. Acting. Colors. Brilliant!
The dance he did on the stairway is best scene imo tho
I’m glad you guys love the movie! Mixing the Joker & Mental illness was a perfect idea! Best film of 2019! 🔥🔥
This movie was so deep and layered.
One of my favourite aspects was the mirroring of Jokers mental state against Gotham's status. Every moment Arthur got closer to becoming Joker, the city itself got closer to complete anarchy.
And then by the time he fully became The Joker the city was practically in flames
When he killed his mom and he said
“I used to think my life is a tragedy, but now I realised it’s a fucking comedy” was such a good joker scene, that was the moment Arthur died and the Joker was born
Freakin Masterpiece...
This is the kind of movie that actually has the audience think about a lot of things: the story, the characters, and life in our world.
The MCU doesn't take much thought. I'm not saying they're not good, but it always seemed that, with some exceptions here and there, they were essentially the same. Granted the formula worked, but to be honest, right around Age Of Ultron, I was started to get tired out. The story seemed to have repeated itself with another character(s), they played it a little too safe with all the films as far as who do we kill off and who don't we without taking risks, and seeing all the cgi, as good as some of it was, just got boring. Now looking at the MCU's future, they're planning to do the same thing but make it one sided politics. I don't like that. In my view, the MCU is dead.
The Joker film was nothing short of a masterpiece. It took all sorts of risks. Typically, in movies like these, the movie makers create the image that the villain is actually the good guy. However, Todd Phillips basically said "nope, not this film." We feel sympathy for Arthur Fleck and everything he went through, but in the end, when he fully became Joker, you had NO sympathy for him, nor did you see ANY justification of what he did. Taking it a step further, the movie explains how mass murderers are ACTUALLY created: broken home, horrible childhood, and no sympathy from society. That's a bold move in today's movie world, but everything this movie had shown on how these kind of things happen is so true. The musical score was perfect, the cinematography was gorgeous (a word I hardly use), the mood was dark and gritty, and it took on a new perspective for a (potential) Batman story line.
My opinion, not only was Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was THE best Joker ever displayed but this was one of the best comic book films ever created because it didn't feel like a comic book film, kinda like the Dark Knight Trilogy was. I was very happy and impressed by this film that my only complaint was it needed to be 10-20 min longer and have a little more Joker action, but that's me being nit picky. Other than that, the damn near perfect movie based on a comic book!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
I couldn't agree more! This movie transcends the comic book genre. This film will celebrated and talked about for YEARS!!
Cant lie. This movie was amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Its about time they made a Joker movie
I just loved the bit where he stands backstage smoking a cigarette. The lighting and the makeup- looked incredible!
Yeah that part looked glorious.
Another great scene is when he is talking to that social worker and crying “YOU ARE NOT LISTENING TO ME. YOU HAVENT HEART A WORD I SAID.” I felt that. So painful.
Arthur dies in this movie, and THE JOKER is born.
Are you sure it's that simple? I think it's a lot scarier and more complicated. Think about it.
Plot Twist: He was in the Fridge the whole time, Hallucinating.
Plot twist : I'm gay?
KingGioC2 plot twist ur not a comedian
Ya this makes no sense
Plot Twist: wanna hear another joke?
This movie was lit 🔥
Best Movie of 2019? 🤔
SGamer no contest
One of the best movies of the century
Best movie of this decade probably
Avengers endgame: Am I a joke to you my nigga ?
So far 🤷🏾♀️ But The Irishman is coming out soon too.
3 extra jokers are here
I'd love a sequel of a completely different origin.... that also ends with joker in Arkham talking to dr harley Quinn....and it ends with him saying "if i have a history I'd prefer it to be multiple choice"
I wanted the audience in the movie to die like the dark knight returns but I think that's beyond dark but still a masterpiece 10/10 and
The oscar goes to the joker
Mansoor Meakhil yea that’s a little too much
Mansoor Meakhil he wouldn't have been able to lead the mob if he did that
Brilliant movie. So layered. What Joe said about the death of Gotham as it was is a deep observation. I hadn't looked at it that way until Joe said it, I agree. In a way it's not only Joker's origin story, but Gotham City's as well. Not to mention a certain Dark Knight. Or did we? This movie is amazing!
"This isn't a superhero movie", tell that to the journalists who didn't get this is a villain "origin" story and complained about it in several articles & reviews. I'm genuinely surprised Raven didn't seem to have heard about all the backlash that's been simmering since before the movie even came out (glorifies white incel violence, it will incite mass shootings, etc)... even better I guess because I've read all kinds of nonsense about the film. I can understand anyone not liking it but I cannot understand anyone saying the movie is all these bad things that media outlets spread online if they haven't actually watched the movie. I loved Joker; cinematography was great; the story is compelling, interesting, heavy and uncomfortable (as one would expect from such a character). The score is amazing and Joaquin's performance is outstanding. Also, was Arthur Fleck really "unwell" or were we led to think so?
Yeah, only here in the U.S. that the media is blowing out of proportion. It’s just a freaking movie that’s about a serious issue in society on how we treat mental illness. Like any good piece of media, it shines a spotlight on the issue making people talk about it. Mission accomplished I’ll say. The score, Joaquin Phoenix’s 🃏, and the cinematography is just out of this world. It deserves all the attention good and bad.
@@LaloLanderos16 I agree Eddie, I'm from SouthAmerica and the media's response to the movie has been completely different, same everywhere else from what I heard. I also agree that it is great if the film puts the spotlight on a very important topic of conversation like mental health but at the end of the day the media should not forget that this depiction is also fictional.
How the press spun the train murder to be about Thomas Wayne felt meta in how the press is spinning this movie
To me this was the best origin story ever! You see the Joker’s actual decent into madness. You also see the where the laugh comes from and there’s always been a deep relationship between the Joker and Batman that’s never been explored or explained before. Great movie!
I hope you noticed the picture of his mother, when she was younger.
"I love the way you smile - T.W." was written on it.
Joker maybe ended up killing his real mother and he still could have been Bruces brother. But he didnt care at this point.
"You Get What You F@#% &!@ Deserve!"......... Murray! Murray! Muuuurrrray! (Metal Gear Solid Voice)
i realy love you guys, i'm from egypt and i always watch you.
please stay in these way, you are great
Man...luv u guys' content....luv this damn movie!! Best part of film, when u see the pic of Arthur's mother as a young woman, turn it over,"Love that smile, love TW". Makes u wonder if Thomas was his father or not...love it!! Keep it up fellas!!💯💯👏👏
A great film, it’s not a super hero movie. This movie is art, but it touches, a lot of things is happening in our world. Mental illness, politics, the government, the rich and the poor. Child abuse, trash strikes that did happen in real life in New York in the lates 70’s and 80’s. Lesson is don’t make fun of people, treat people like you wanted to be treated. Secrets....lies....., a man had a breaking point. The laughing is a disease common in real life. This movie have some violence, only three times, not three whole movie, it’s nothing like Rambo you real not see a lot of guns. It should not be a part two, it’s cool has it was. I will come see it again. I did watch king of comedy and taxi driver before I seen this movie. This movie could only happen in jokers head, that what makes this movie so good. Give me more DC movies like this.
kbheath76 Exactly!
I think for a lot of people this movie touches to close to home its one of the realest movies portraying our actual todays society really accurately . I am glad this movie did well because mental illness is real and its no fucking joke...
One if the best reviews I've seen on this Joker movie so far. Joker is a masterpiece to say the least.
About time lol I was waiting on this review
Real perspective was the motive of this and being grounded ...loved it for this
I've been waiting for this review since Friday
Its Shakespearean...excellent storytelling...challenges you as it holds a mirror up to us and a lot of folk nowadays cant handle that stuff
Finally fam! The greatest movie of 2019 and the greatest joker of all time!
GR3G uh no that goes to Heath Ledger
Absolutely
I saw this movie TWICE
DAMN FINE FLICK & REVIEW MY GOOD SIRS. DAMN FINE.
Lol Joe I had your exact same reaction to the half brother twist man😂😂 shit was crazy
Arthur dies, Gotham is born, Joker is born, Batman is born.
This was what DC comics was back in the 80's and brought it to the film. They were books for adults....people who think comic books were for kids only read marvel comics...and even they had adult themed stories, just not in the same vein as DC was.
People are talking about Joaquin's performance which was phenomenal but why aren't we talking about the cinematography & the scores which was brilliant & gave me chills.
This kind of movie is a great way to start a trilogy or a cinematic universe. Hence, when you reach towards the epic ending, you know what the character is about, where he/she is coming from and understand the character's feelings. You can then condemn or agree or at least see reason to decisions he/she make...
It would be great to have a rated R Batman movie in the Gotham that was created here. Not in conjunction with this Joker at all, because Fleck Joker would be no match at all. But just throw Batman into this version of the world. Batman doesn't kill... yeah right. It'll be a bloodbath. hahaha
The best movie I saw in a decade with one of the best performance I saw in a long time
amazing movie.... good review!
I cannot wait to get back to the Theater to see this!!! Perfection ! Isolated sequels would be the only way to continue this.
Loved the whole movie but my fav scenes were his rant on the talk show and his blood smile. Oh and the fat guy did deserve to die cause he thru Arthur under the bus about the gun situation
jack frost did he?? I’m starting to think that Arthur hallucinated the scene where Randall handed him the gun. I remembered that his boss mentioned that he tried to buy a gun from the fat guy, but when the fat one heard that he was like wtf!!
And he also tried to make Arthur say the same stories to the cops just so he wouldn’t get in trouble.
pepin grillin but he was pretty nervous about the gun when he came to visit Arthur. He asked he Arthur said anything about it to the cops.
He didn't deserve to die. He deserved a kick in the balls perhaps. But as a society we can't go around killing ppl because they threw you under the bus.
The blood smile and laugh after the act .... was top class acting
Absolutely loved this film. So well made - Taxi driver for a new audience.
The end scene with Robert De Niro though...”you get what you deserve!” 😳😳😳
Great review guys, please react to the new NYCC Star Trek: Picard trailer.
My favorite scene is when he is in full clown regalia-after having just a done away with that one dude- and starts dancing on the stairs. It’s so exhilarating and horrifying at the same time. ❤️❤️❤️
"Fight Club"... FINALLY! The delusions, anarchy, an alter ego trying to get out... we need a whole video on this comparison.
One of the best movies and performance I’ve ever seen
would love to see Joaquin in a Movie from start to end as a Joker in this one we only got him as the Joker for the las 20 min of the film and I like what I saw
If Arthur is imagining Sophie comforting him in the hospital, couldn't he also be imagining Murray Franklin mocking him too?
Can't trust the narrator!
The one thing that didn't work for me is The Wayne's death. That Thomas Wayne would of had a piece on him.
Plus Arthur Fleck does more detective work in this movie than Batman! 😂
Masterpiece!
Right but when Arthur looked at the back of the picture there was a note from T.W. to his mom complimenting her. I forget what it said but it was supposed to make you think maybe the issue wasnt settled.
I love your smile. TW
293-0 Like-Dislike ratio?
Hot damn!!
How about another joke?
this is my favorite movie of all time...unmatched depth and philosophy to it
Not every movie can be like this. I think it can be more movies like this in general but not superhero movies
Yrah Joker is just perfect character for this style of a movie. Most superhero villains/heros will not work with similar tone
My favorite scene in the film is when he stands up on the car at the end...bruh...THAT is the JOKER!!! This movie is AMAZING! Easy the best movie of the year, and one of my favorite films period! 💯
like an joker anthology series? that sounds cool!
You guys should react to the breakdown of the opening of joker by todd phillips. It's on the vanity fair RUclips channel
MASTERPIECE
Who noticed Batman's face on Arthur's mirror on the opening shot?
disclaimers disclaimers disclaimers
Fantastic film...seen it 3 times now!

I would love too see the director's take on Batman it would be mad! I tell you...
Definitely one of my favourite movies.
can we agree its one of the best DC movie ever made
Nock Nock !!!
Who ?
I come for my OSCAR!
for your ???
BANG !!!!
The whole point of the movie was to just tell their viewers that it doesn’t cost to be KIND ❤️ outstanding movie
3:11 that wasn't 1 word fam 😂
I wouldn’t be upset if DC and Marvel started making these darker stories for the appropriate characters. Batman villains in general could benefit from these different takes and hopefully the Moonknight series and others like it can dip into this style as well🔥🔥👌🏾
When I win the Oscar, can you bring me out as JOKER
Batman can be realistic too. A man equally insane to Joker but opposite. Naive enough to think he can save EVERYONE, including Arthur who deserves death the most. Who beleives It so whole hardedly that his focus and determination can almost convince Arthur himself. Making Arthur obsessed with proving him wrong. Radical Chaos vs Radical order. Both having a realistic light shed on them, and looked at through a lense of absurdity on both parties. How about THAT for a sequel?
If we're gonna go with the isolated sequel route, I'd really wanna see a Mad Love storyline
@phenomenalbat4629
how did you come up with this! it seems its what we a getting in the second movie
Him and his mother suffered from a similar illnesses and so I can't rule out for certain he and Bruce aren't half brothers
they need to make a gritty dark riddler movie like this
my best scene in The Joker 2019:
Bathroom Dance
Joker Leaving Subway With Police Around Him
Joker Dance In The Stairs
Kills Murray
Smile Face WIth Blood
Anything from DC and marvel is going to be top 5
JP: when I win the Oscar, can you introduce me as Joker?
batman and joker are brothers
LOL
Best film ever
The scene where the gun falls out of his coat at the hospital???? Broo..... That shit was so crazy. It made me uncomfortable and I pitied his bad luck, knowing it would send him further down a pit of darkness.
In my eyes, this was not w celebration of violence, this movie showed is the level of cruelty and apathy in society and was so realistic. But I think its easier to do that in the Batman universe as opposed to making a film about someone completely mythical like Superman. But all things said, this movie was impactful, deep, etc.
Should've and always start of is if you liked, really liked or didn't and or hated the film hahah
Years later. This is definitely a movie you let your kids see. Especially if they are fans of batman/joker. Why do we fear these topics. If you can't explain it logically, then you need to learn as well. His condition is not even a thought. His situation is not even a thought. He is sick because of his actions...alone...This thinking is half the problem. Normal people can become monsters same as famous people. Differencw is one is accepted one way or the other. Good and evil. Its a comic book thing brought basics. Mental illness of laughing uncontrollable. What about sleeping uncontrollable? What about a nervous tick? What lines do we want to draw.
As a comic thing. It was a dope way to make Joker relatable without reading comics. Theres context and years of development as a "mental" individual, but still a good starting point.
It's funny to hear homie say that this movie isn't the type of movie to blow up and be super popular lol. This movie made over $1 BILLION dollars on a $60 million budget, WITHOUT China!! That's crazy!! That shows how much people are wanting a film like this. A true character study on one of the best villains (the best in my opinion) to ever exist. There's more amazing characters they could do this with. I think that The Batman movie with Robert Pattinson is going to be similar to this movie, in its darkness and grounded nature. And that's EXACTLY what I want!! DC should understand that they don't need to be Marvel. They can do shit that Marvel can't do!!! Like Joker!!! I think they need to embrace the darkness with the characters that require it!! You can't do a light Batman movie if you want it to work. Batman is a dark character who has experienced trauma and is full of rage and vengeance while discovering who he is. And I hope that the new Batman will be rated R!! And DC should be cool with that, cause that's something only they can do!! I think The Batman movie with Robert Pattinson is going to be the best Batman movie we've ever had! I'm more excited about The Batman than I am any other film releasing in the next two years! And I would LOVE to see Joaquin Phoenix Joker be in that universe!! And it could work if they wanted to.
Since we don't know for sure what was real in the Joker movie, they could use that to put him in modern day Gotham. And the ending of the movie already set it up perfect.
When Arthur is running through the hallways of Arkham after he killed the psychiatrist, they could have him escape, and while he's handcuffed he finds an exit, and when he kicks the door open, we see that it's actually modern day Gotham City, and the story he told that psychiatrist was just some story he made up in the moment. And that would also make it to where we have no idea where he came from, which lines up perfect with the character!! And you could tell a brand new story in a sequel, or in a new Batman movie!!
Imagine the post credit scene of The Batman be Arthur (if that's his name lol) kicking open a door at Arkham and leaving a bloody footprint, and Gordan is there to collect forensic evidence!! Or something like that lol. I would love nothing more than to see those two on screen together!!!!
Esta película es la mejor que he visto en mi vida
MasterPiece
My favourite scene is Murray's death on the talk show
ohh look I forgot to clock out
My Lil Bro and I love that part
