My older Keurig machine was on it's last leg. My son bought us a 2.0. I was kinda disappointed when I couldn't use my refillable cups. This hack worked perfectly!
Thank you! I was just able to use my off brand K cups since I did not realize there was a sensor mechanism was on the 2.0. It was an easy and quick fix!
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
Update: my freedom clip arrived yesterday! It's amazing and absolutely works!!! It's a clip so you have the option of leaving it in the Keurig or taking it off! It also came with 3 coffee pods ! Guys if you haven't order your clip do it now!!
+MakeAcupCake As I said before, it worked but kept falling out and noe it is bent on one side. no it no longer works. By the way, mine is the keurig 250. it looks like they changed it again so some of the hacks now don't work. I hope they go out of business. I heard that their stock has dropped.
Thank you so much! I just bought this machine, and not knowing I couldn't use any K-cup, I have about 100 non Keurig brand coffees that were going to waste. Thank you so so much for sharing! I am going to try this right away!
I saw this machine in Target tonight, was thinking about buying it until I saw this. It's bad enough the machine cost so much, now you don't even have the freedom to choose the coffee you want...seriously
I tried it, it WORKED FLAWLESSLY!!!!!! Thanks for the video! I tried it with carafe as well and didnt have to remove the tape. Just make sure you use good tape so it doesnt come off. Again a HUGE thanks!
Very, very good. Google will not give any answers how to solve this problem but, RUclips does. I am much older and my hands tremble and it took me more than one hour to do this and still not 100% done. But with your help and people like You (and me) we can solve many awkward problem like this. Thank You very much for Your willingness to show us how it is done!
It works!!! We picked up an older 2.0 at auction CHEAP; same as the one in your video, but I much prefer my regular coffee and not the pods. I just tried this and VOILA - it worked! Thanks!
Oh hell yeah. I was trying to use a refillable pod tonight and I kept getting an error message. It usually works okay, but this saved me! No more errors. Thanks!
i did it several times, faster, slower, and nothing worked. do you have a video showing how that's done? is that functionality on certain models? i cant imagine why anyone would go through all this if it was that easy :)
This lady has the most beautiful set of hands and As well . thanks for the very informative tip. . I just bought one second hand for 15 bucks.. this video is awesome.. thank you kindly for sharing. best regards. steve.
I just did the hack and it works great, as we have some instant coffee and hot chocolate left, now theres no more waiting holding the button down to get hot water. I just upgraded my Keurig 2.0 TY.
I love this! I use this is my machine (k575). I used to use a freedom clip type clip in my k 500, which sadly broke. Unfortunately the clip no longer works, so now I use this hack, which has lasted a week with no issues, alongside a magnet, so I can use all pods and get the full menu.
Thanks for this. Simplest workaround I've seen. After over 1.5 useless hours with Keurig tech support trying to get my "universal" Keurig brand refillable My K cup to work. I started searching the web to figure out what was wrong. Contrary to what the tech support was suggesting...It was that the Keurig brand refillable K cup was not getting by the sensor. INFURIATING. Thanks again.
Thanks for taking the time to post and figuring it out! I can't believe reading the comments that people think you have to do it every time :( The 2.0 is the better machine....
If you open the next section where the display is connected you will see a wire harness that clips into sensor . I unclipped it not cutting any wires and it works perfectly! 😊💪
Worked for me, thank you! An easier way to get the tinfoil label, though, is to simply cut the excess plastic below leaving an inch of plastic below the label, then cut as close as possible to the label using nail clippers and sand it down. It's perfect and much quicker. :) Thanks again!
Thank You Sooo Much !! We Love our New Keurig ... Sad to find out that it wouldn't use our existing K-Cups... Now My Frown is turned upside down thanks to your Permanent Hack ...Yippeee !!!
A lot easier then my method. I cut out some of the plastic, and basically made a little donut, then just dangle it over the top of refillables that are partially in the slot, close the lid into it. Usually works. It's an option for when you can't tape up the keurig, like if you're using a community set at work.
So many jealousy people on here comment about her rock. Rich or not who care. Purpose of this is how to use non k cup that u unable to use now you can after this video. Appreciate the work thanks.
Took seconds to do and it works well--only thing is you cannot make a carafe with this in place, as it needs to read the green dot on the larger K cups, and must then be removed to make a pot--not so handy! However, if you only use the refillable Solofill cups, you can permanently install the foil on top of those and remove them to use a carafe cup pod, which is likely what I will do soon.
Don't forget the magnet to get the full menu as well! Who has a magnet? You can find one in your shower curtain, at the bottom on either corner, most likely. Snip it out of there, find a video on here to show you where to place it. Best of both worlds. I've not done the lid hack yet (out of laziness), but I plan to tomorrow, using your method.
I had one of these things for a short time I like real coffee so I make real coffee in a coffee pot it its better Sunday morning ritual I make espresso from a stovetop espresso maker these devices Get near that flavor in texture but I enjoy your hack and if I am hanging with some friend who is a victim of this machine will show it to him
I just used a piece of tape, 1x1 in. piece of paper coloured using a Sharpie yellow neon highlighter, tape it below the camera & never touch it again. You get full menu & use any kcup you want, plus water heats 5 deg hotter.
Thanks for this tip. I have to return mine now because it's stuck on 8 oz and won't move. None of the buttons work. I'm so done with this machine now. I did like the hack, though.
you could do this temporarily also, by peeling off a used kcup foil top & placing it just barely above the non kcup, then fold the foil over the top to make a tiny lip. Just close the Keurig & you're in business per cup instead of permanent.
I was startled when I saw your beautiful nail polish & female hands. 😂 So I had no idea that this has happened...that Keurig really did this. Thought it was a rumor long ago & that the co. wouldn't dare. Just ordered the smallest machine from QVC. Better not have the same problem! Grrr. Have a nice day hand model. Hahahah.
We just stopped using our Keurig. It was costing (for 3 of us) over $90.00 a month. We went back to bagged coffee and are now spending $15.00 a month for the same amount of coffee. Keurig was convenient but very expensive and wasteful. I cannot believe Keurig got away with non-recyclable cup for all these years.
Be careful using the hot chocolate K-cups......I've been told they will clog the machine. Not sure how or why but I have been told that by others. I only make coffee with mine but just wanted to let you know!
My wife is on a never ending hunt for the K-cups at a 'decent' price. We have an earlier version machine that is not so picky with the camera, etc. I tried the reusable K-cup and it didn't work worth a damn. My hack is to use the Keurig machine to make hot water into a simple french press, like this one: Grosche Zurich French Press (Large (1000ml - 34oz), which is available at Amazon for a measly nineteen bucks. I use the Folgers Gourmet Supreme coffee. Dump a couple of scoops of grounds in the beaker and 'brew' a batch of Keurig water into the beaker. Remove the beaker, stir it up a bit and then replace and hit the brew button again. Remove from Keurig and squish the coffee down, pour into my 20 oz MojoEmo 20 oz. thermal mug an be on my way. Whole process takes a couple of minutes. IMHO, French press makes the best coffee.
thank you thank you holy crap bought the 2.o had to go back to store to get 2 different reusable cups and still didn't work....thanks to this hack I now have 2 reusable ones hahahahaha HACK ON! love the way the coffee tastes but not gonna spend 20$ on a special one
I have some reusable pods with orange rings around the top that trick the sensor, whenever I get coffee in unofficial k-cups I just cut them open and dump the coffee into a reusable one.
if u can find someone who has a Costco membership you can get the regular donut shop coffee 80 pods for 30 bucks or you can get 5 4 4 the same price also sometimes they have holiday edition
Thanks for uploading this workaround. One question though, does this restrict you to be able to brew only single servings or can you still use the K-Carafe function? Thanks!
Weird, I do have a 2.0 K425 Plus and have had no problem using any kind of pods. I should say that with some brands the descaling message appears more often than with others.
THANK YOU for this... I was really pissed off to find out that all my K-cups were useless, even the Keurig branded ones that had the logo but not the ring around the edge. This stuff is anti-consumer, anti-competition garbage.
I have this same coffee maker, I faked the lebal out before, biggest problem I have is some how grounds get into the chamber, that stops the Coffee maker from making coffee, I have to constantly clean it out. Crazy.
Paying 200 for a coffee machine that isn't backwards compatible is just sad. I just now received a broken machine for free (broken screen). I took it apart and reverse engineered the operation to act like a normal coffee maker. The 2.0 is the most over-engineered mess of parts I've ever seen. It even had a phone jack On the bottom.
Keurig replaced 58 old style K cups when I purchased new machine, about 30 Keurig Brand the rest off brand I received something similar, a better hack would be how to use the cup for your own coffee.
I just cut out the optical sensor that reads it. problem solved. Take the 2 screws out of the top, locate the green wire in the lid, cut it. Also why you are in there, open the screen with the 4 clips and cut the magnet wires, and splice them together, it will unlock the full menu option. can brew from 2oz-14oz cups and use the carafe without the carafe pods
My solution was simpler: I told Keurig to go to hell and bought a Remington iCoffee brewer. Compatible with ALL K-Cup style cups. And it tastes far better and hotter than Keurig. My first gen Keurig died and so I replaced it with a far superior product made by remington. I will never buy a Keurig product again and encourage everyone else to follow suit.
i also do not understand the commercial they have, what is the difference in this machine from prior machines that you would be able to make all those different assortments of cups
Mike Peters, why not just used the Keurig Hot 2.0 my K-Cup reusable coffee filter that comes with the machine?? I would think you could just pour your k cup into it and brew your coffee in it instead of going to all of that trouble.
Bryan Russell Mine didn't come with a reusable cup. This helped me tremendously when I upgraded and found out the cups I had wouldn't work in the new one. Thanks Keurig!
My older Keurig machine was on it's last leg. My son bought us a 2.0. I was kinda disappointed when I couldn't use my refillable cups. This hack worked perfectly!
Forget the coffee...that ring is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Thank you! I was just able to use my off brand K cups since I did not realize there was a sensor mechanism was on the 2.0. It was an easy and quick fix!

Easier option, when it says not a Kcup, re open it then close it and the hot water option will come up, press start and there you go, less work.
Yes.
i did it several times, faster, slower, and nothing worked. do you have a video showing how that's done? is that functionality on certain models? i cant imagine why anyone would go through all this if it was that easy :)

You know DRM has gone too far when they DRM THE FUCKING COFFEE! Wow Keurig, unbelievable.
i know this is an old post.. but i did this as soon as i got mine and it works great!!! thanks for the hack!
This poor woman is probably a prisoner in her own home. A hard life of preparing coffe for her captor. We have got to save her.
Stfu
It works with my reusable K cup. definitely saved me money. I appreciate the share. Thank you🙏🏽
You have a masculine voice for a women. But your tip is of great value like all who have bypass keurigs idea of buying only one brand. Thank you
Her HUSBAND is talking
iheartbankai LOL ;-)

I just ordered the Keurig k55 from SAMs for $60! Black Friday deal. It's the older model, so I can use whatever coffee I want! 😊

Worked great. Thank you for the information. I hated seeing that "oops" message.
Thanks for the hack! I just did this to mine, works like a charm! ☕️
I counldnt stop staring at that beautiful ring...
Thanks Morrison, worked like a charm!

With a ROCK like what's she's wearing..... AND hacking K-Cups!?!?
Dreemwever you don't save it by spending it stupid. If she's not after that sub 20¢ cup then she just not wifing material imho.
John Morrison harsh man, harsh. True, but calling someone stupid isn’t necessary.... unless it’s just to make you feel better.
Funny this 7 min video was about 🧐....the rock 🤓
10$ worth of zirconium.
@@Francois_Dupont Careful now.... "John The Trolling Idiot" might call you Stupid 🤣

Wow, this lady has the most manly voice I ever heard! XD ;-)
+James Barnett I was thiinking how I love his nail polish !!
+James Barnett You think that's a manly voice? I thought it went along with the hands perfectly. I am Dick The Bruiser, btw.
The guy is shooting the video and narrating. The woman is doing most of the physical manipulation. What IS this, rocket science?
I initially thought it was a trans guy but when I saw the second hands I realized it was a guy narrating /facepalm.
Exactly. Me: #tvproductiongrad #editor #handmodel #voiceoverpro #observer
Awesome! Thank you!! I tried to do something similar and it didn't work so I'm going to attempt your K hack!
Holy moly! I was directed to this video from a website. The video alone sends me reeling!
What about Keurig is worth all this again?
Dude! Your hands are so beautiful and I thank you so much!
Clever. I'll try this hack the next time I buy a generic brand. Thanks for the tip.
Your nails look so good!
Well, I for one was surprised, not at the hack, but the nail polish!
:)
and the ROCK on her left hand! LOL Nice...
I guess purchasing the 2.0 is not worth the hassle. I will simply purchase the prior model.
The older ones are also very cheap now.
Yea but they're starting to phase out the Elite Brewers, soon enough there will only be keurig 2.0 k-cups for purchase
tumbler silvia My solution a few months ago was to just buy a $50 Hamilton Beach brewer that can use any K-cup, including the refillable type.
+J. M. Good thinking, now that I know about that I will return the #$%& k250 back to the store I still have my receipt.
+canadaeast I searched all last night for a non-2.0 to buy... couldn't find one anywhere near me. Good luck
Brilliant! Passing this onto to other Keurig "slaves".
Wow that ring is huge, we got it !
Thank you so much! I love your wife's ring by the way!
wow!!!! VERY CLEVER!!! THANK YOU…. WE"VE TRIED TO BREW OUR OWN CHOICE OF COFFEE, AND EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING… THANK YOU!!!!
Hahahah.
if you need to do this in order to get two brews out of your k-cups, you need to just get a regular coffee pot.
Easy work around! Thanks a million!
I cut the top off the k cup, poor the contents in my reusable k cup and make it that way! much easier and saves a lot more time!
nice hands dude!
🤣😂🤣
Thank you!!! I did this and its awesome.
We just stopped using our Keurig. It was costing (for 3 of us) over $90.00 a month. We went back to bagged coffee and are now spending $15.00 a month for the same amount of coffee. Keurig was convenient but very expensive and wasteful. I cannot believe Keurig got away with non-recyclable cup for all these years.
mattsynth just buy a reusable kcup for your regular coffee
This worked perfectly! Thanks so much!
Got one for xmas today, Gonna go do this now as the hot chocolate for the kids isn't a keurig cup.... Thanks!!
Be careful using the hot chocolate K-cups......I've been told they will clog the machine. Not sure how or why but I have been told that by others. I only make coffee with mine but just wanted to let you know!
CBPfromTN When you make hot chocolate, you have to run straight water through the machine so that the needles don't get clogged.
HomeOwnerRepair Thanks for the tip! I've never used it for hot chocolate and would love to! Thank you!
54 starbucks pods
Thanks,looking to try this now.
Best hack ever! Thx so much!
Thanks for uploading this workaround. One question though, does this restrict you to be able to brew only single servings or can you still use the K-Carafe function? Thanks!
You could just remove the taped piece then put it back. Once you figure it out it's real simple. Most people will rarely use the carafe.
+Mike Peters orange sticky note works too.... lol and google freedom clip.... you can get one free with a k-cup order from San Francisco coffee.....
Ahhh this worked perfect. Thank you!!
Weird, I do have a 2.0 K425 Plus and have had no problem using any kind of pods. I should say that with some brands the descaling message appears more often than with others.
was hoping an easer way I have been doing this with for a while , more trouble then worth
That fella has really nice hands.
THANK YOU for this... I was really pissed off to find out that all my K-cups were useless, even the Keurig branded ones that had the logo but not the ring around the edge. This stuff is anti-consumer, anti-competition garbage.
thanks guys, works great.
seems easy(er) if you get the Keurig® My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter. So much trouble for a few old kups
Measure the resistance with a non-rebel k-cup and short it with a resistor. Looks like a hall effect sensor.
I have this same coffee maker, I faked the lebal out before, biggest problem I have is some how grounds get into the chamber, that stops the Coffee maker from making coffee, I have to constantly clean it out. Crazy.
thanks dude. oh and i really love your pretty nails! lol..

I have been doing my investigation on my machine also I too have a few secrets up my sleeve on Keurig 2.0 K300
Coffee made with Keurig style cups comes out to about $40 a pound. That is more expensive than Starbucks. A can of Folgers is about $4 a pound.
I apologize for asking this, but why didn't you just drink the cup you brewed first to get the OM lid? :)
You have beautiful nails for a guy.
+glitterfunk Thank you. I was lost for a sec
***** yup. pretty sure that was a joke
i also do not understand the commercial they have, what is the difference in this machine from prior machines that you would be able to make all those different assortments of cups
From the main screen choose hot water.
open machine put non certified k-cup in close machine.
Press and hold hot water till it stops.
Enjoy
Damn, it's a miracle she can do anything with that giant rock weighing down her tiny hand!
What happens if you want to brew a carafe? Do you have to remove the taped lid?
Mike Peters, why not just used the Keurig Hot 2.0 my K-Cup reusable coffee filter that comes with the machine?? I would think you could just pour your k cup into it and brew your coffee in it instead of going to all of that trouble.
Bryan Russell Mine didn't come with a reusable cup. This helped me tremendously when I upgraded and found out the cups I had wouldn't work in the new one. Thanks Keurig!
