Producer Dino de Laurentiis always had a chip on his shoulder about Jaws; regarding his 1976 remake of King Kong, he said "Nobody cry when Jaws die. When monkey die, everybody cry." So naturally when he made Orca, he tacked in a scene in which the title creature kills a shark, and just as naturally when Universal shat out Jaws 2 they had to have a scene with a dead orca. Like little children trying to one-up each other.
Marge’s death was the most horrific and wow inducing cause it swallowed her and you see the animatronic shark, from behind, gulp her down. It’s genuinely a holy shit moment special effect wise.

For all his reluctance, Scheider gives one heck of a performance as Brody, and adding the likable teens to the mix, this movie is highly enjoyable. Jaws 2 had zero chance going up against it's masterpiece of a predecessor, so I think, odds not in it's favor, it managed pretty well. And those shark scenes are darn exciting!
Lester Forney yes it happens to the same person, but shark appearances/attacks do happen a lot close to if not in the same spot. Having the Brodys cursed for 2 more movies is what hurts them
I don't get why jaws 2 gets shit on so much it was genuinely pretty good the whole teenagers surviving on sail boats was pretty good and watching all the kids trying to keep the younger Brody safe was genuinely pretty good acting
It really does show that, even as the mayor tries to deny the idea of another shark, he still understands and trusts Brody. I imagine internally he feels Brodys right but wants so badly for him to be wrong.
8:46 - Another point about Murray Hamilton: He was so committed to the role, when his wife died while the film was shooting, he wanted to spend a minimal amount of time with his family, then return afterwards to complete the shoot. The producers even rescheduled his scenes to accommodate this. R.I.P.

I actually see this as one of my favorite movies. I was around 3 when I found this in my dads DVD collection and I absolutely loved it. Then about a year later they showed me the 1st one and I loved it even more. The Jaws Franchise is just a series that’s stuck with me for many years.
John Williams did an excellent job on the ost for the first two films. It adds so much to the tension and the fear of the unknown. At first you don't even see the shark, yet being terrorized because of the music. All without jump scares. I miss this from today's thrillers/horrors.

I watched a movie review from Chris Stuckmann’s channel, I forgot who his friend was but he said something that would have made this movie great. It would have been great if you didn’t see the shark until Eddies death. Imagine if Brody had just been paranoid from the first movie
