    Nice, you'll be fine shortening your hoses, you can probably get rid of that horrible curve on the back brake by taking the lever off and flip it over, it's just tension in the hose that is causing that. ;)

    For the road bike you mentioned, perhaps an E-Thirteen Helix Race cassette (9 - 50), would have the range and top end you require. The freehub body must be XD type to be compatible. If you do run a single 38t chainring and it has only 27.5" wheels it equates to 50+ mph before you spin the crankset out to max rpm. If the wheels are bigger it's top end would be higher by around 7 -8 mph. Of course, this only applies in perfect conditions and circumstances.
