Yep. I have noticed that most of the people who work with or for the Foos are good people also. I think Dave looks for that as much as talent and how everyone will get along with each other.
Because 1) He's a cool dude, and by all the accounts of people who knows him, just a great all around human being. 2) Chris is someone who deserves to have two Gibsons for free. Millions of people seems to agree with me on this 3) Dave has, uhh, sold a few records here and there, you know. He's not strapped for cash. 😁😁😁

I loved Voltage and miss it. I always loved to see all the old Gretsch hollowbodies and Gibson hollows from the 50s and 60s. The owner Lloyd is quite a character. Went in about 1999 and he Jon Biron (producer Fiona Apple, etc ...) and him were having some philosophical discussion about something which I forget what it was about. Ah I believe they were talking about conspiracy theories also. Loved Guitar Row on Sunset and off Sunset on Gardner. Too bad it's all but gone. Shiflett mentioned he went to another guitar shop around the corner. He may have been talking about Volpe Guitars which is gone. I bought a guitar there once in 1999. Those were the days.
How cool would that be? Well we’re going to have to get you some more guitars. And joining the Foo Fighters. Dream come true! Couldn’t have happened to a cooler guy. And so well I deserved! He’s a great guitarist.
Oh man I guarantee you there is someone somewhere who is adamant the neck pickup will affect the bridge pickup due to the wiring or magnets etc. 100%. they claim they can hear the difference in a fraction of a percentage when it's played thru a 4x12 cab at full volume 😀
@@DavidOakesMusic Well, they can say anything they want, we know the truth. At those volumes the only freq that matters is the midrange and the JB/59 has the perfect midrange to cut thru any mix on stage. I will defer to Alex when he likes a piece of gear. And the man himself it was named after still uses them. If Jeff Beck says something, better listen to him

I started playing guitar in the late 90s, so I've played a LOT of bad Gibsons. I feel bad for the younger guitarist right now that is swallowed up by this relentless hype of "vintage" guitars. They'll be saving up for $2000-$5000 guitars that has a high percentage of being duds.
Every guitarist talks about a guitar while holding it and looking at details of it like they are checking it out for the first time, even if they know every square inch of the guitar

It should really come as no surprise. Most businesses mimic their leader.

Actually he's played in two of the best bands out there, and NUFAN seemed like a bunch of really great guys too.
Do you think Nate is cool too? LOL
Man just a damn good guy that Grohl is to give gifts so extravagantly to his band mate! Love this story!

1) He's a cool dude, and by all the accounts of people who knows him, just a great all around human being.

An underrated guitar player. His two solo albums are great.

There's nothing like hearing the Man play the riff on his own off stage. Something so cool about that!🎶
Pick-ups aside, that Explorer was my first major guitar purchase as a kid entirely due to Metallica and James Hetfield (same color and everything)
Just bought myself one a few days ago bc like you said James Hetfield and it truly is the most ergonomical guitar. Love it so much
Thanks for these videos. Chris is such a nice and humble guy.
