Pretty cool, the only video I've seen that actually shows the damn thing snapping shut. I heard a bunch of people reference in their videos but never actually seen it. Well done
Ok, you save my hind end, I helped my buddy Robert take his 1978 apart years and years ago, and I'm a Dentside guy but I don't get to the Bronco alot. So the breakdown on the wire gave me a real refresher since his passing and my taking over the project to get it done, thank you!
This video was very helpful for me. I replaced my motor in my 78 tailgate about 11 years ago. Now it’s back to not working, so this was nice to have a recap on it. Thank you!
Have an 82, did not know whole works came out! Im selling it, just gotta get motor loose and get window down to get a 302 shortblock out. Great video by the way.
Just a quick fyi. When removing any motor from a window assembly, use some sort of c clamps to hold the arms in place. This will avoid the snapping and realignment issues afterwards.
OMFG Lady, You are awesome! My husband has rebuilt a Bronco, with my impeccable hands on support. Ii am installing all the seals in the tailgate and top, with a glass of wine, some herb and a recent manicure and I loved your video!!
I love it. especially that 3-second rule on the food. Also this really did make me feel like my window video was very inadequate and didn't explain enough. You did a good job.
Haha thanks Adam! Your video was great, you just didn’t run into every problem in the book 🙃😅 Also thank you for encouraging me to start using my DJI, it’s super fun and I’m going to be so glad I know how to use it when I need it!
I’m not familiar with 85’s but if it’s like mine you’ll want to take the back panel out, disconnect the motors, take the glass out and then you can take out the gear and motor to fix whatever’s not right. Or start and make sure you have power to the motor to begin with- that might be the issue right there. Good luck!
Do you remember the part number for the motor? I just got one for my 78 bronco but I think it is the wrong one. Also, what is the size of the screws? And finally, where did you get the window limit switch ( the white safe fail button)? I’m rebuilding the whole system and I’m trying to find all the parts. I appreciate your help. Thanks!
Sorry I don’t remember the part number, I called O’Reillys and got it from them. Although as you saw I got the wrong one first. The safety switch was already intact so I didn’t have to source that and I just found screws that were the right length to fit. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions as you go!

@@broncobabeadventures4316 Cool. I think I found it!
Do all models have the finger trap? I've swapped then twice now on 2 different brick noses and never had that. They gave me the wrong motor with both replacements as well.
The door is getting replaced, I have the new one currently taking up space in my garage 😅. I’m going to get to it soon but I’m a bit intimidated by it so I’ve been putting it off
Anyone out here with a gen-5 that can tell me . I'm trying to find which wire color from the tailgate to the front of the truck is supposed to be the constant? On a Gen 5 1995. Window works from the dash but not from the key and there should be one of them that is a constant.
It’s not ideal but you can you the test light and poke into the wires and see which has power when key off. Also check out some of the Bronco Fb groups, there’s lots of helpful people in those groups. Good luck!
Start thinking about tool you will need on the road,,as your fixing it and make a spare part bin for then road trip .. your missing lots of stuff in tailgate ...lube the gears and tracks ...I have bunch of clips i would of sent to you ..you paint rotors but paint inside of tail gate ,,always check grounds ..
I greased it but just didn’t film it. My hands were too gross to want to touch my phone 😝 The tailgate is getting replaced, I have the new one sitting in the garage currently taking up space 😅
Wuaao. Very impressed. A pretty girl fixing headaches such as ford bronco tailgate window. Good decision not to do it while you were drinking. You are awesome. Travel the west coast is beautiful.
The self fix work is best way to learn how it works, why pay some idiot that pretend to know how take your money probably not work still when you get it back, that tailgate from own experience is over complicated. my motor is weak as our Gov. It will work with pig tail to 18v drill battery, but not of the car battery, think my motor is failing, time to find my spare or get new one. Great FIX, still have all fingers...

I'm so glad it was helpful for you! And I'm sorry to hear about your buddy, its awesome you're going to fix it. That will be a special truck
I thank for your very helpful video. You saved me lots of time on trouble shooting my tailgate motor.

The realest repair video on RUclips. Thank you.
Thank you! I think personally struggling through every part of a restoration helps keep it real 😅

Dealing with this currently. I laughed when you paused, blew the snack off, paused again, and ate it.
Haha never waste a good snack!

I’m not sure if they do or not. And that’s funny you also got the wrong motor 😑
Haha!! Look at you doing electrical troubleshooting....love it
It makes me so happy you follow my build! I wish we lived closer and could work on stuff together.
Awesome the inside of the door looked a little rough you don't have rust holes on the door?

I've takin probably 15 of those windows motors out n never seen that
What part of it haven't you seen?
@@broncobabeadventures4316 I've never seen them snap up like that when you take the motors off. Maybe bc I change them with the glass in
Build On
there is nothing to learn in this video. all fluff
Okay so what would cause the glass to go out of alignment when rolling up ?
I think the aftermarket tailgate had the window gear mount holes crooked. Idk but it’s frustrating
