This video was developed before the TRAGIC weekend of the US Olympic Trials (which I'm still recovering from 😭). Little did I know this would become a series with multiple parts... Wishing all these amazing athletes a quick and full recovery! ✨
It’s been such a brutal season 😭 maybe you can also include Zoja Szekely who had her Olympic earned spot taken away because of the FIG event final error
This is why I always check the pinned comments before leaving my own, I would have asked why you weren't disappointed in the loses of Shilese and Kayla D (at the least) from trials 😅😭 sad that there's a need for another part, but I'm staying by 🥺🫡
She breaks my heart the worst. She wanted it so terribly bad… and her dad! I am holding out hope as the sport gains longevity she’ll have a comeback for LA at home in the US!
@@heatherwicker9990, sooo sad! She started with doing gymnastics so early, not even one year old and is so talented. If this is not enough, what else is enough?! 😢
Vanessa Ferrari suffered a very serious calf injury in training and is also not going to Paris. Very sad that all of these girls got injured. It's heartbreaking.
Sport scientists need to invent stabilizing equipment gymnasts can wear to reduce injury. Lightweight fabric or something that strengthens those achilles! The sport has evolved so much in terms of difficulty, and I'm tired of seeing these amazing athletes lose it all to injury. It's far too common
I know the Gadirova's must be disappointed to miss these Olympics but they're playing it smart. They know that focusing on their respective rehabs will help their longevity, they definitely have their eye on LA 2028. There are so many amazing gymnasts we won't see this year, it's such a bummer.
People who compete on international level push the abilities of the human body and mind, they are training to perform beyond the bound of their respective sport as it currently exists. Haven't you noticed that there are records being broken in all sports?
@@JoaoZamaethey attacked Ukraine during a period where there was supposed to be peace. Their athletes also heavily voice support for the war and sports are state sponsored in Russia so the government has a hand in all of it
I do. I’m literally gutted. I wanted it for her so bad, even if an alternate. Just there on her butt busting and hard work alone, never mind heart and beautiful gymnastics. I love her so much. I am still holding out for LA with the longevity increasing!!!
it seems these injuries are so high. I think more training needs to focus on preventing these horrific debilitating injuries. ACL, MCL and achilies tears are unreal. I still suffer from an MCL and meniscus tear from 10 yrs ago. I m not even an athlete. I cannot imagine.
Hezly is likely going to be in serious contention for that team, too, as well as Tiana. There could be other gymnasts in the junior ranks jump up between now and then too. Shi and Konnor probably for AA. I imagine it would be really rough for Kayla if she didn't get chosen for it after trying to come back again. Kelli Hill's gonna be all 'oh dear God, can I please finally retire?'
This year is tough.. if you believe in the Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the dragon, which is predicted to be tumultuous 😔 in any case the injuries have been devastating this year 😢
It looks like they made this one before the trials (but posted it after), and I think they'll be posting a followup based on what happened at trials. But I'm so sad for Shilese, Skye, and Kayla. I really hope they all make a run for 2028, especially since this has happened to Shilese twice.
my dream US team would have been Simone - Suni - Shi - Skye - Konnor. What a stunning lineup that would have been on every event. I'm still in denial that three of them didn't make it to the end of trials :(
I know you said that you’d have a make a part 2 but man this was hard. I was upset about Skye Blakey having to withdraw, but when Shilese Jones was injured I was DEVASTATED. I really hope the both of them take time off to really heal and rest their bodies before trying to come back next quad. I truly think it’s these athletes forcing themselves to train and compete when their bodies really aren’t ready for it. Like many have said before I’m so happy that the elite gymnastics world now consists of grown women vs teenage girls. (I personally think no one under 18 should be allowed to compete in the Olympics) Overall, I hope that by 2028 they’ll both have their goal of competing in the Olympics. And as much as I like Simone Biles, I think if she retires by then finally someone else will have a chance to win a gold medal 😂
I was looking forward to seeing Gabby Douglas this year, but maybe never. For the 2028 Summer Olympics, she may have aged out, as she is now in her mid to late 20s, but we can wish she keeps going.
Gabby is not coming back, I’m sorry. It’s hard to maintain the level of skill necessary to compete with the US field after so many years of retirement. Her training videos looked good because they’re just that: training videos, which she edited and curated. Her performances in the two elite competitions she took part in this year are more reflective of the reality of her situation. She is a wonderful gymnast, a gold medal Olympian in AA and team. No one can take that legacy from her. But anyone who thinks she will come back, after completely bombing her very few appearances this year, is on that copium juice. And with Valeri? Since when are his gymnasts known for their longevity or comebacks?
A mesma história com tantas outras. Kim Zmeskal, Dominic Moceanu, Nastia Liukin, Chelsie Memmel. Atletas que não conseguiram ter um novo ápice, mesmo com toda torcida do público.
@@jendayiKa 7 years were not even enough for her to get her shit together. When she finally competed this year, she quit. And don’t tell me you believe that injury BS. Now, given her age and what it does to her body, do you honestly believe that she will most definitely continue to LA28?
Без сборной России это тупо сборище международное. Все эти, гимнастки, допинг ложками жрут. Вся эта "олимпиада", уже давно сгнила. Там хер пойми кто выступает.
Wait, wait. All the other gymnasts "eat dope with spoons" according to you; when Russia was caught outright cutting hole into walls and changing out urine samples for all it's athletes. LMAO, Russia should have been banned from any sporting event for the next century. It shouldn't have taken them starting a hostile war with another country to get banned.
Paris is becoming a major bum out. I think, The Gadirovas & Eythora will be just fine. Hoping that all of these, outstanding, talented gymnasts will make it to LA 2028, to comprise, a thrilling field of competition.. With the way Biden is going, none of us will make it to LA---it seems he's hellbent on starting WW3. USA gymnasts need to keep the option of representing other nations in their back pocket. They can also represent the U.S territories or get dual citizenship in another nation. That way spectacular talents like, Shilese, Connor, Skye, Gabby, Zooey and others can have surefire international assignments & experience along with having an 1st time Olympic experience. The rules would still allow them to train in America. This is very common in Track & Field, Basketball and Swimming. Mature gymnasts wouldn't have to put so much pressure on themselves and they could get more international experience under their belts. If I were an elite U.S gymnast I'd keep dual citizenship in my purse. There are hundreds of countries who would love to have representation. These athletes work too hard and they are excellent gymnasts denied by bad luck & an unfair selection & competition process. Perhaps a group of rejected gymnasts could form a whole team and represent a few countries? Its just a thought hmmn?

She's probably aiming for 5 Olympic medals once again tho. Doubt she'll want a second "bailing out" medal. The new Olympic ones will look good next to her other 7 + the 30 World Championship medals she owns.
Are you kidding? Thank goodness Simone had the fortitude to pull out when she did with her spatial disorientation in Tokyo. With the unbelievably difficult skills she performs, we might have been making sad videos about her rendered a quadriplegic in a horrific accident like poor Elena Mukhina

So glad gymnasts' careers are getting longer. I remember the days when they were considered to peak around 16 and be washed up by 20.
You forgot about Chosovitana?
@aljonjaysiadan5831 true. She was one of the exceptions. Her career has been amazing. She's currently injured or she'd qualify for Paris.
It's because the NCAA rules not allowing elite gymnastics to do both cut USA athletes' careers short. It's nice to see they changed the rules now
