It definitely needed the thick trees in the front 😀. Like all the detail and colours and how this gradually came to life. Thanks Mark fabulous as always
A great exercise in how to paint our Aussie Bush. I look at a scene of many trees and think its way too hard, but when I see your step by step guide Mark, it really makes it so much easier. Thankyou!
Such a detailed and informative tutorial. I paint just for my own self, for fun sake( after putting kids to sleep). Loved the way you've taught how to paint this masterpiece. Thanks a lot lot much for being so kind to share such detailed tutorial. Love from Pakistan
I absolutely love your work! How you started with random brush strokes and just kept on adding what seems like random brush strokes and end up with this amazing painting is beyond me, your work never ever fails to bring a smile to my face thank you so much for sharing .Cheers from Perth WA
I just love how you make life just pop out of the canvas. You are so fast and loose with your strokes. I wonder if I could do that... sometimes I will see my painting starting to pop out and I tense up and get swallowed up in detail (a sure way to lose it.)
Thank you for this tutorial... it was great to listen to your explanation as the painting evolved. It was very inspiring... Hope you do more tutorials. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you for this. So beautiful to watch you. I love how you explain your colour choices and their effects. Thanks for sharing your magical world. Also, you have a beautiful smile and disposition.
I’m a bit behind but I feel like your channel is evolving really Nicely, your skill and teaching style is very enticing, please keep doing it, it’s inspiring and great knowledge, but can you do a video on your past on you from a young boy developing your talent. Send me the link if I missed it
Thanks for your kind comments. We don't really have anything like that so much! Maybe we'll shoot something like that one day :) Cheers for the support!
love the Star Trek reference. Thank you for how much information you share in your presentation. I'd subscribe twice if I could. Oh, love the Star Trek reference.
I love your videos and I’m learning a lot. Are you just using paint without water or anything? I’m not sure how you can spread it so much. When you first painted the background you covered half the canvas with single load of paint. I might only be able to get 4-5 strokes before it’s all off the brush. I use liquitex heavy body but I think you use something similar
Hey David, just a bit of water usually. I use Atelier Interactive artists acrylics and Atelier Free Flow, which are both great, and usually get pretty enthusiastic/forceful about my application :) Hope that helps!
Mark, how is the correct way to use acrylics, cos I always add a little bit of water with my acrylics, but I see you don't. Should acrylics be mixed with water or not, and if not, won't the acrylic crack after a while? Thanks. 😊
I usually add a little water, it depends on the brand. You don't have to add water, but you can, it just extends the drying time a bit. You don't want to add too much as it can break down the "glue" that holds the pigment together and cause uneven results.
I use Micador For Artists future brushes or whatever flats I can get my hands on. Usually I won't pay more than $5 for a brush as I'm really hard on them. Thanks for your kind comments!
I paint with oils, but would love to try this style as its different to the way I paint trees. Can I try it wet on wet or do I need to let layers dry in between colours. Also do I use a larger brush as the canvas will be larger.
Try it and see how you go! Yes to the larger brush. Give it a go wet on wet if you like, but may be a better result if you let the layers dry in between. Acrylics are fast drying though!
Thanks Jean. That's the only trouble with Atelier Interactive, they're super glossy paints. We tried several lighting set-ups but couldn't get rid of the glare altogether unfortunately. It does get better as the video goes on and the earlier layers dry out more. Hope you got something out of it anyway!
Loved the bird sounds while you painted.
Thank you! The editor couldn't resist :) Nice noticing! Cheers!
Oh my, along with the sound of the birds ..I felt like I was in the bush ..it's amazing work
That was Frankie's intention - you're the first one to comment on it, very subtle :D Cheers for the kind comments!
great explanations of the use of colour and well presented. Thanks for the detail.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your kind comments :)
The enchanted forest....Lovely! Thank you, Mark!
Thanks so much :)
So wonderful! And I think adding the thicker trees in foreground was a useful suggestion! Draws one in... ;-)
Cheers!
You are so talented and amazing! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
As an artist mostly oil though I think you are a legend in acrylics , great work
Thank you so much 😀
Great tutorial.Thank you for sharing. 🙏
You’re welcome 😊 Thanks for your kind comments!
Stunning!…I struggle with the bush…am going to sit down and do it bit by bit following you. Thanks!
Good luck! You can do it!
It definitely needed the thick trees in the front 😀.
Like all the detail and colours and how this gradually came to life. Thanks Mark fabulous as always
Thank you so much 😀 I won't tell Frankie that though about the bigger trees - she doesn't need any more reasons to be right hahaha
@@ExploreAcrylics 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This video is very good, thanks. I've bought one of your downloads from your website, too, just haven't had the time to watch it yet! 😊
Awesome, thank you so much for your support!
Thank you. Here in Florida we have the thick forests too which are difficult to paint. People think we're all beaches and palm trees!
Oh wow!
Great video Mark. You are a Master.
Wow, thanks so much Mike :)
Many thanks easy to follow
You are welcome!
I have a painting so similar to that it's crazy. Mine is of the woods behind my house. Nice work!

A great exercise in how to paint our Aussie Bush. I look at a scene of many trees and think its way too hard, but when I see your step by step guide Mark, it really makes it so much easier. Thankyou!
Yes, it can seem overwhelming if you think of them as individual trees :) Glad you found it useful! Cheers!

Yes you can! Just keep on chucking paint around!
@@ExploreAcrylics Thanks to you and people like you I am learning and getting better but 'fast and loose' is the ultimate goal!

Thank you so much! You are obviously a person of exceptional taste and vision :D
Enjoyed this a lot and I really like the way it turned out! I hope to try this exercise soon. Thanks.
You're so welcome, thanks for your kind comments :)
Each layer produced the play of light and dark! The highlights on the trees and adding the blue sky peeking in sealed the deal!:)
exactly :) Thanks so much for watching!
Great demo on how many layers it takes to create depth
Thank you - yep, it's a process :)

Hi Mark was the first painting you had Flat Rock near Lennox head??
Just trying to jog my memory 😃
Close - it's The Point Headland at Lennox Head :) Flat Rock is further south. Not much though!
I love your videos and I’m learning a lot. Are you just using paint without water or anything? I’m not sure how you can spread it so much. Hi what are you adding to your paint to stop them drying quickly on the palette please
Nothing, just a bit of water when painting to help them travel :)
I paint with oils, but would love to try this style as its different to the way I paint trees. Can I try it wet on wet or do I need to let layers dry in between colours. Also do I use a larger brush as the canvas will be larger.

How do we get the recipe book? I fottow you to be a professional artist
thanks so much! You can find it through my tutorial website at explore acrylic painting dot com!
Great video Mark, but too much glare on LHS....

Amazing tutorial - but no continuity. Too many ads - popping in all the time. Spoils your great work.
Thanks for the feedback - I'll get our team onto that and try and make it a bit more of a seamless viewing experience :)
