Only just discovered your tutorials and so glad I did! I love oceans and beaches and painting them until now has been hit or miss. Your techniques and paint mixes for getting to the finished artwork are so helpful! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Just discovered your sea / waves tutorials, and that os so good, am really glad. Am living in Germany though my origin is venezuelan, so not necessary to say the colors of the Caribbean are always in my mind and also in my painting.am a beginner in this area. I will follow you❤
Just love this demonstration, so clear, color mixing, brushes, brushstrokes. Great relaxed commentary, what a talent! Beautiful painting. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing, Mark! You are really a great painter, and because of you Im not so rigid and nervous when taking on a painting project. Love you, man. Keep creating, and do not be afraid. Life is an illusion just like your paintings. Deep down its all good, even when confronted with the "darker" side of life. I will buy one of your dvds soon. :) Eleo (Norway)
Great stuff Mark. Very helpful indeed. By the way , I've been painting with oils since I was 9 years old and Am 57 now. I enjoy and use the OPEN acrylics today along with oils and use charcoal a lot but who on earth , gave this video a thumbs down eh ? Trust me , whoever you are , you have an extremely limited idea of what it takes to construct a painting and absolutely NO idea as to what it takes to try and pass on and inspire others to create. Sorry Mark . It just got in my whistle.
Thank you for doing a tutorial using more subdued and moody colors. The wave is striking! I'm wondering, have you experienced much of a difference between French ultramarine blue and ultramarine blue? I've been using ultramarine blue (Golden acrylics) and have a terrible time getting the color I need when I use it alone or mixed. It's almost always too violet even when I attempt to tone it down.
Thanks for your kind comments! I only ever use French Ultramarine Blue from Atelier - so I'm not sure of the difference sorry! But if I ever need to cool it down at all I use a bit of Pthalo Blue :)
Hi Mark, great video thank you...I shall attempt a wave now...just a question about your edges of your canvas. I notice you don't paint the edge when you are doing your picture, do you then paint it a plain colour on the final stage.
Hi Mark, I am wondering if you can tell us about the painting of the beach shown behind the painting of a wave. I can only see it in part and it looks very interesting? Can we see whole painting? Thank you very much for all the info you share with us. You are very generous.
@@ExploreAcrylics never mind. It appeared to include all the things I love eg. The gum tree with the white baRk, the sea and pelican flying. Thanks for answering. I appreciate it.
So loved watching your amazing work I’m new to painting but what would you advice for me to learn to paint water & build up to painting the sea much appreciated blessings from the U.K. also am I able to get these colours in the U.K. ?
Hi Tracey, we have heaps of information on our website about painting water, waves, etc. You can have a trawl through here: www.explore-acrylic-painting.com/how-to-paint-water.html Cheers :D
Great tutorial, thank you again. You know at some stage you're going to have to frame that shirt - abstract of surfers on choppy seas or something. I've not picked up my brushes for a few decades. Now I'm retired I'm hoping to begin again - thank you for the inspiration to start and I appreciate the smaller scale you're using in this video. Sometimes a huge blank canvas is the thing that stops me from trying but perhaps beginning with a smaller canvas and blocking in as you show here will get me over that daunting first step.
Thanks crashq :D Very kind words! It's always easier to start smaller. Definitely practise your techniques and colour mixing on a smaller surface. And actually, I often say to students to have a smaller canvas next to their bigger canvas just to practise techniques on before "committing" to a larger surface. Good luck!
iv watched these two videos so many times and painted this wave like five times is there a way on here I can send you a picture of my painting and you can critic it
There are some techniques and tricks I use to help with this. Keeping the paint mobile with water (without diluting the pigment too much) allows you to move it around. Atelier Interactive stays especially mobile and can then be "unlocked" if it starts to dry out with their fabulous product called Unlocking Formula. You can also wet the back of the canvas to help keep the paint mobile too. It's definitely easier working with a smaller canvas and using the paints fairly quickly :)
Love the name btw. Bring a wheel of Gouda to the carpark behind the shops and you're in! Haha, only joking. Thanks for the support.
Hi Sally, we have several paint recipes including sand, you can find them on my beachscapes paint recipes playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLbRTq9lnYzEDR-XCIKTCjzn_494YZHai_
Love it-watching again. One of my favorite parts of water-the lit up center of a breaking wave and the thin final wave break mixed with foam.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊😊😊
I just love watching you. I have learnt so much in the 3 demos that I have seen of you painting. Thank you.
You are so welcome

Thanks :) Yes, I usually paint the edges white after the image is completed but before the final seal coat. Cheers
Great

Hi Diane, this was a commission painting for a client (actually 3 paintings side by side, a triptych) , sorry I don't have a complete picture of it :)

Hi, it's a 1" Robert A Wade Neef 980 Taklon long flat :D A more expensive brush than I normally use (about $40 AUD). Cheers

I love your paint palette. But doesn’t your paint dry out really quickly, especially in summer!
Lyn Joyce exactly what I was thinking. I hope he answers 😃

Hello, cherche dans votre tuttos, tableau bleu foncé avec lumière de haut en bas . Merci pour tous les conseils, marylou
Hi there, sorry I’m not too sure what you mean?
Merci, j’ai retrouvé vidéo !belle continuation, marylou
I wish I could hear. Because. I want to know what. Colours you use for. Sand. Just seeing. Give me some semblance of. An idea
Hi Sally, we have several paint recipes including sand, you can find them on my beachscapes paint recipes playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLbRTq9lnYzEDR-XCIKTCjzn_494YZHai_
Thanks. I like watching I. Am deaf. And colour. List used. Is more helpful. Your sand looks. More realistic than mine.
No problem. An easy sand recipe on a bright summer's day is mainly White, Cadmium Yellow Medium (warm yellow) and a touch of Dioxazine Purple :)
Thanks. For that now I may just. Get. Things looking right.
WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR BRUSH. IF ANYONE KNOWS CAN U LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU. MUVH.
I sometimes call it Steve. But at times it seems more like a Kevin :D
