Jacktown (Blue Engine steam club) is very popular, a really nice event. There used to be an antique display there, a calliope (a 19th century steam engine that plays music). The elderly gentleman who owned it told me his calliope was quite rare, valuable, was made in Europe. He told me it has become illegal to export these historical pieces to U.S.. I had seen this gentleman at the Sussex County Fair, but not in recent times. He told me he only goes to the Jacktown Fair, it is the best in the area. This was several years ago. Jacktown Fair is run by two brothers. Really nice guys. It's a very nice event.
Hey, Scoutcrafter, that’s my day out! What a fabulous array of second-hand tools for not a lot of money. Wish we had specific tool markets like that in England. Thank you for a fabulous day out!!!
Scoutcrafter I would absolutely go nuts at that place! All kinds of good tools. I knew that you would find my favorite tool to buy, H.K.Porter antique bolt cutter! I wouldn't have left without it! Dad would of been mad at me, since he made their tools in Boston!
Thanks for the video Scout...Long time listener, first time caller here :^) I really enjoy markets like this. My favorite thing about them (and auctions) is finding that thing you never knew you needed. To the people who have a hard time finding deals, it takes a little work. I've been to dozens of auctions and even more sales. Sometimes I get good deals, sometimes I pay good prices for good stuff, and sometimes I walk away empty-handed. The main thing is that I've enjoyed every sale I've attended and have always made it a good experience.
Hello 21mph12! You are so right!!!! It's not the destination but the Journey!!!! Sometimes you can enjoy just seeing someone else get a great buy!!!! I saw a guy buy a huge vise for $40! I was so happy for him!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!
If I was there I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven!. Tools, steam, tractors and more tools, it does not get much better (plus it looked to be sunny unlike a previous trip if I remember). Great video and you know we lap these up.
Hello Tony! I know you have your "boot sales?" In the UK, I wonder if they are like this? I know you get some great deals! That's what counts! It's all fun!!! Thanks!!! 😃👍
Love the video brought me back a lot of memories my God that I enjoy you should do a couple of more videos like this love to see all those old tools they're well worth it and to restore them thank you for the video and continue God bless you and everyone
I have been outside working in the heat all day and sat down to a light supper to this video and really enjoyed it. Our steam show is in Sept and though I think its great, we sure don't have the amount of vendors with great stuff like that.
My grandparents neighbor moved out of her house and her kids started throwing away toolboxes FULL of tools!! I got 4 toolboxes full of nails, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Brand new soldering gun, and a craftsman made in America vise and home depot work bench all for free! Talk about a score(well a great score for a teenager).
Lifes Journeyman I've gotten a few tools outta the garbage. When I was walking to school I found a 12in made in America craftsmen wrench on the side of the road, that day was great.
One person's trash is another's treasure! I found 50 one quart re-usable Gem jars for canning fruit, at the recycling depot one time. My mom bought new lids, and used them for years. I think it was the same situation, where someone's 85 year old mother went to the nursing home, and the kids got stuck with cleaning out the house, and basement.
I noticed a Carborundum sharpening stone. They were manufactured in Trafford Park, Manchester, UK. That's my home town! 😀 cool video, really enjoyed it.
Nice seeing all those tools, at 3:58 a bin with some nice looking knives in it, I like those Billings bicycle wrenches. So much good tools etc. I could use. Cheers !
So many tools! I’d be dizzy! I got excited when I saw Bangor Pennsylvania! I’m in Pennsylvania! Then I realized it’s almost a 4 hour drive one way. I forgot how big Pennsylvania is! I’ll have to look it up and make a long day of it. I’ll get the missus to drive back. I’ll drive there and let her sleep on the way. Get there early. I just ordered my first Billings bicycle wrench! It gets here Monday they said. I can’t wait!
Wish I had one of these shows near where I live. I doubt I could go without spending a bunch of money but just to look at all those old tools would be very entertaining.
I'm on the edge of my seat watching this. Really exciting stuff ,I cant believe the deals I'd love to get out to one of these shows ! Thanks for sharing scout .
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. I kept saying, "Oh neat. Yeah, that one's kind of cool... Oh get that! Is he going to get that...?" Then I started mentally willing the hand to come up from the bottom of the screen to grab it. And very steady camera work without not stop chatter just to fill the space. I felt like you, me, and some friends were all at a swap meet picking around.
Hello Will!!! These gatherings are so enjoyable to me... The people and surroundings are wonderful! The funny thing is when you are there your senses are overloaded and you don't see half of what's around you!!! When you film it and come home you say "How did I miss that!!!???" LOL Thanks!!!!!!!!!
I love these! Your 15 minute presentation took me almost a half hour to watch! I keep pausing it and backing it up, "Hey! Was that a..." A little slice of life that you can look back on in some far off date.
really very incredible, if I were in a place like this would want to buy everything, and cool to have this appreciation for the past and history and above all keep these rarities, really cool.
Hello Amaurieduardo ! Yes! This is such a great place! Great people and lots of fun! The only problem is you can go thru a lot of $$$. Lol. Thanks!!!!!
I'll have a couple of those Billings wrenches, that little giant wrench that neat old pair of bolt cutters and a couple of those sewing machine tractors.Great video......cheers mate.
Hello Bill! I almost didn't post this! I told my GF that I'm not sure if people would be bored! I'm so glad I did now!!!! It turns out I'm not the only one who likes this stuff!!!! LOL Thanks!!!!!!!!!
Great video. Got my beer and walking the the Show! Really like the table views I found my self stopping your video and zooming in on a bunch of items I liked. Saying wait "is that a"
Hello Ocelot! I wear a backpack to carry the tools I buy and after a little while I have to go back to the car because the pack is too heavy!!! Lol. You would love it there!!! 😃👍
Don't ever be afraid with videos like that loved it . I always say if I ever get to the states I'll bring an empty suit case if the shows are like that one I better bring two wow all them tools I'd be lost wouldn't no where to turn lol .great show thanks
Im writing this as I'm watching. I love this kind of stuff and go to these type of event myself. I'm currently am home sick in bed so I've been watching a lot of RUclips. I've only discovered your channel a few days ago and have been really enjoying it. 😎👍
Hello Jim!!!!! I'm so glad you are finding the videos entertaining! I am especially happy I made this video now, knowing that you could enjoy "getting out" for a while watching this video! I wish you a speedy recovery!!!!!! Thanks so much!!!!
Awesome video! !! I would love to get my hands on a nice post drill press for $100 or a hand saw for only $5 or " clamps for 1 or 2 dollars. Tool heaven!!
I absolutely love the old tractor/steam shows...so much great stuff. I was supposed to go to Canandaigua this weekend, if I would have known there was a tractor show a couple hours away I would have gone. No kidding, I spit my drink all over my computer when you got to the golf ball guy and said "file handles"....lmao. Good job filming, that was nice and smooth...easy to watch. Great stuff, cheers.
went to a mud auction in Lancaster County last month could not keep my finger off the goodies but my dear wife persuaded me that gifts for grand kids more important. going back to USA next year
yes Lancaster is a great place but in Lambertville NJ is a wonderful Flea Market lots of old tools even an very old potato or Apple peeler shear Victorian engineering
Hi Scoutcrafter, I've seen people misusing 'file handles' on the golf course. They wouldn't know much about tools I guess. - btw. Inspired by you I will attempt my first restoration of an old 'Swingline' brand upholstery style stapler. It's made in the USA. My expectations are very modest. Have a great day.
Some of those prices looked pretty good! I'm planning on going to The Days of the Past show in Titusville, NJ in September. I have gone to the show in the past just to check out the hit-and-miss engines and the old tractors, etc. This year I will set aside extra time for the flea market!
The estate sales in upstate NY are a little different than on LI. They don't negotiate, charge sales tax, start by selling only by full tool boxes and then reduce prices by 25% the next day then 50%. It was very odd not being able to negotiate. Most times I would just walk away. I agree, the garage sales can be hit or miss. We do an initial drive-by to check it out but sometimes we get lucky for one item. It's all fun!!!
MAN I would have loved to check that out. I probably would have done serious harm to my bank account. I mean I spent my afternoon doing something ALMOST as cool, I'm most of the way through my first try at making a new handle for a through tang sword. Never done anything remotely like that before but it's been going very well so far. I will be taking some pictures for sure.
That was really interesting. Do people usually take a child’s wagon or a gardener’s wagon to these shows to haul the tools they purchase? One tip - slow down your panning a little; that one thing will make this type of video even more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing this - gives us something to look forward to.
Hello Anonymous98! Yes! You are right, the fast panning doesn't allow you to see much! I usually don't film by hand! Good tip! People bring all types of wagons and carts but my favorite is when they drive a lawn tractor and trailer a wagon!!! Thanks!!!!!
Shut up and take my money!!! I believe if I went there with 50,000 bucks I’d leave without a dime !!!! Awesome videos as always keep up the great work !!!
Omg too painful to watch, we never ever had anything like this in Finland. Would spend all my money here. A very nice way to spend the whole day, just wow.
Interesting show. I felt like I was there without the heat. Can’t wait to see what you bought to restore. Only gave us a hint of what you purchased. ☹️
Hello Jill !!! I got some great stuff!!!!!! Not expensive stuff or big stuff but some nice pliers and such!!!! I will show it on Monday!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
Hello Christina!!! It's 3 days long and I heard at night they have a band and a big BBQ and everyone lights lanterns and it is really nice!! I have to go there one night!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
My grandfather was a locomotive engineer for the B&O in the steam era. Some of the tools look very familiar. It would appear that some of the tools in his workshop may have been "borrowed" from the B&O. Especially since some were stamped B&O!!!!!
I loved this video soooo much!! I'd have bought almost everything 😂 especially all of those wooden or tin boxes... and those bicycles... and those pasties and doughnuts 😍😍😍
Terrific Video. I've never been to a tractor show, now I know where to get a good deal on quality old school made in USA bar clamps, which I really need for my shop. The Chineseum junk from HF just doesn't get the job done, the ratchets either slip their grip or seize up from the inevitable minor light surface rusting on the inferior steel components. I'll be searching for a tractor show near me, thanks to your tip.
Tim Brown dude, we are in the same boat. The flea markets here are now Chinese dollar stores and guys selling mismatched Pittsburgh tool sets that are only 2 years old and somehow rusty
Hi Bill, No I haven't! This show is close to me at about 2 hours away but most of Pa. is 4 hours away! Too long unless you sleep over! =) lol on the t shirt!
I'm in Ohio. We don't have many shows like that around here. I'll try the oldtimers show this year. They have old farm equipment and hit and miss engines and that sort of things plus a lot of vendors there.
Just found your videos there excellent, we have boot fairs here in England, but it seems the tool collecting scene is much bigger in your country. Please do one where you focus on wrenches that's my passion. Really good films, keep up the good work.
i would go absolutely broke at a place like that.
thanks for the tour. looks like an awesome place to spend the day.
You have to only bring what you can spend! LOL If you bring more you will spend it!!!! =D Thanks!!!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter honestly I would probably bring a huge cart around with me to roll around everything I would buy here.
Please keep doing these. We can't get out to the shows like we used to so I am enjoying watching you live the dream. I'm a Mr. Pete fan too. lol.
So many tools...so little time. Thanks for bringing us along on your adventure.
You are so right!!!! There was some great stuff there!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!
Great trip down memory lane for many of us. Thanks so much for sharing and keep on bringing more! Thanks sir!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the ride along!!!! It's always a great show!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
I could watch this video over and over again because there's too many things that I missed
Hello Bill!!!! I was really on the fence about posting this! I didn't want to to bore anyone! I'm so glad I did now!!! Thanks so much!!!!
Now this sir is how to spend a weekend morning, can't wait to see what comes next
Hello tumbo1984 - Tomorrow I'll show you what I bought! 😃👍
Such a wonderful place, I would just love to go there. Thanks for sharing.
I am glad that I don’t hang around with you my truck would come back full I like what you do and how you restore it thank you keep up the good work

I could spend all day there...
"Hey look at this, assorted file handles". 😂😂
Hello Shawn!!! LOL I heard they can be used for some sport too!!! =) Thanks!!!
ScoutCrafter Love the videos Scout! Keep em coming!
Hey, Scoutcrafter, that’s my day out! What a fabulous array of second-hand tools for not a lot of money. Wish we had specific tool markets like that in England. Thank you for a fabulous day out!!!
I love the sound of you rummaging through the items.
Hello Mr Grape! Those dollar bins hold some real gems!!! 😃👍. Thanks so much!!!
Loved the tour. But, my pocket book is glad I was 1200 miles away. I kept saying "I want!" Please do more of these.
Hello David!! OMG it was so hard not buying more stuff! I'll show what I got on Monday's video!! Thanks!!!!
Wow I’m drooling! Great video, thanks for posting for all of us tool lovers out here.
Hello Eric!!! It's nice to see all those inexpensive tools waiting for a new home! =) Thanks so much!!!!!
This is not boring please make some more videos like this! Thanks
Scoutcrafter I would absolutely go nuts at that place! All kinds of good tools. I knew that you would find my favorite tool to buy, H.K.Porter antique bolt cutter! I wouldn't have left without it! Dad would of been mad at me, since he made their tools in Boston!

Hello Bob! Believe me, the hardest part of these shows is holding back!!!! Lol. Thanks!!!!! 😃👍
If I was there I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven!. Tools, steam, tractors and more tools, it does not get much better (plus it looked to be sunny unlike a previous trip if I remember). Great video and you know we lap these up.

I have been outside working in the heat all day and sat down to a light supper to this video and really enjoyed it. Our steam show is in Sept and though I think its great, we sure don't have the amount of vendors with great stuff like that.

Great way to spend a afternoon. Really enjoyed it . Thanks again.
Thanks Nornherman!!! It was an awesome show!!!!!!
I love the sound of the engines puffing and popping in background
Hello Walt, There is no place I enjoy more then a good steam engine show... The smell of burning Coal is like perfume to me! Lol. Thanks so much!!! 😃👍

There was a load of great things I wish I had room for!!!!!! Lots of great stuff!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!

I liked those long reach oil cans right at the beginning, thanks for sharing
Hello Fumbly ! They were nice weren't they! I like oil cans too!!! 😃👍. Thanks!!!!
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. I kept saying, "Oh neat. Yeah, that one's kind of cool... Oh get that! Is he going to get that...?" Then I wanted a corn dog and a Coke, because we're at a swap meet.

Fantastic! That's the America I know and love :)

Thank You S C !!!!!! My Mother was from Calhoun , and I have cousins there , only a 45 minute drive for me .

WOW! You would really like it in person!!!!!!! So much great stuff!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
ScoutCrafter I could really spend the whole day, from dawn to dusk, digging every single crate.
Really interesting stuff indeed!
👍😉
I have to stop the video I can't continue watching, I got depressed!! I live in jax Florida and there is nothing like that here.
Hello Arlind Look up North Florida Antique Engine Assn. They have a show coming up in October! 😃👍
ScoutCrafter thank you!! I will!
There is also The Florida Flywheelers in central Florida near Avon Park. Bit of a drive for you though but it's just like this video.
Hello Greg! Yes! Good bar clamps are a must! Most Chinese steel still isn't up to snuff! The older American clamps are almost indestructible!!! 😃👍
I went almost two years ago and bought 14 different ridgid pipe wrenches and tools
LOL- You got a great deal I'm sure!!!! I hope they have it this spring!
Spotted Smallenginemechanic Mike from the 805Roadking channel.
WOW! There is nothing like this in South Florida. The guys don't get to bring their "good stuff" when they move down here!
Hello Tim! LOL You are so right! The "heavy Metal" has to stay behind! Too expensive to haul!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!
Tim Brown We downsize to save money and end up buying all the stuff over again. 😈
Tim Brown dude, we are in the same boat. The flea markets here are now Chinese dollar stores and guys selling mismatched Pittsburgh tool sets that are only 2 years old and somehow rusty
At 11:19, he's my favorite seller. Jim. His prices can't be beat, like Crazy Eddy! Tell him "Tarzan" sent ya.
Wow 😮 I saw a ton of stuff I would have picked up!
Hello Dominic!!!! Yes!!!! I wish I had more room to keep the stuff!!!!! Thanks!!!
I had to change TShirts...I got drool all over this one!! Did you ever do the shows at William's Grove in Mechanicsburg?? This was a Great Video!!
Hi Bill, No I haven't! This show is close to me at about 2 hours away but most of Pa. is 4 hours away! Too long unless you sleep over! =) lol on the t shirt!
That was a good video. Some interesting stuff.
Hello Derek!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!!

I'm in Ohio. We don't have many shows like that around here. I'll try the oldtimers show this year. They have old farm equipment and hit and miss engines and that sort of things plus a lot of vendors there.
Hello Mark! Yes some states don't have many tractor shows! Unfortunately... Thanks!!!!!

Awesome old tools 👍👍👍
Hello MNpicker- Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Nice video! Shame we don't have these in Holland.
Just found your videos there excellent, we have boot fairs here in England, but it seems the tool collecting scene is much bigger in your country. Please do one where you focus on wrenches that's my passion. Really good films, keep up the good work.
Phil- Check out my buddy Tool addict! (Ben) you will love his channel he gets all the great stuff!!!! =D ruclips.net/video/_G87oorxhzM/видео.html
