    I think the expanding foam is actually a neat idea and I'll definitely be trying it! But without sanding all the surface rust around the problem area don't you risk the paint bubbling up underneath and spreading?

    • @gtflips
      @gtflips  2 года назад +3

      Yeah its possible, I haven't had that issue come up yet. Also this is just a quick example of showing what to do. Depending on how perfect you want it to be, requires more work. I just wanted to show that for a few bucks and some of your time, you can change the look of the car. instead of paying a lot of money to have it completely redone.

      If you are able to sand and prime all of the rust off, I would go with the spray foam. Keep in mind that if you don't sand and prime, the rust will get worse especially since spray foam absorbs water. Rust is like cancer; it spreads and inflicts damage.

    You Should Spray some Rust Inhibitor in there before using the foam to keep the rust from Spreading, I have a 2008 Silverado with rusted rocker disease and did this but since it is a Work Truck, I Sanded, Primed and sprayed it with Bedliner. @GT Flips

    This is why you always take a magnet with you when you’re buying a used car. Never trust anyone. There are better inexpensive methods to do this repair. At a minimum. Wire wheel the rusted areas, blow or vacuum out the debris. Treat the bare metal with rust inhibitor and primer. Use a metal screen and fiberglass body filler. Never use spray foam! The foam will collect water and debris and make the rusted area even worse. If you’re flipping cars, word will spread and you’ll get a bad reputation as a dishonest seller.
