Maybe the "auction houses" large submissions are being chosen ahead of the little man in the queue. How much of Christine Farrell's collection was slabbed by CGC? Is it still ongoing?
CGC just keeps getting worse and worse. They take forever to send you the books back, and then they're all bent and damaged in the slabs. Why do people continue to send them books?
Not sure how long you’ve been submitting to CGC. 81 days is kind. I started submitting to CGC back in 2007. Back around the beginning of 2010 to around late 2012. Vintage/economy submissions took over a year to get back without paying for fast track service.
it doesn't REALLY take them 81 days (although they'd probably make you wait 81 days). they're just trying to get more impatient customers to splurge on the fast track.
Ahh the slow progression of Mickey becoming the comic ver of Rudy. Kitchen full of assets and packing supplies. What's next, art, pianos and pinball machines?
Clicked for Sanity, stayed for vibes. I just got back my signature series books from Baltimore Comicon. 49 day turnaround. One has some wonkiness but not full banana
They did have a hurricane that happened a few months ago. That might be a reason that the time is taking so long just so they can compensate for the time they where closed.
My personal theory about the current wait times is that they have a huge backlog from banana gate. I was waiting on one submission for about a month and a half which finally showed up two weeks ago and it did appear that they had corrected the inner well issue so I think it’s possible that there might be two or three weeks or maybe a month worth of books backed up while they were getting that fixed in place but this is just Fantastic speculation on my part.
Huh, last year or so magazine cases were being updated/changed,. I had my mags there 300 plus days! No communication except when my calls to ask what the heck is going
I sent in books for the Starlin signing back in June, but they have been sitting at CCS forever. If PSA can do even a halfway decent job, CGC is in trouble.
I hope we are finally getting to a place where the community is a actually turning against the toxic CGC company. There are enough other options that have gotten a lot better recently
I’m done with CGC. Once the books I have there are returned I’m keeping books raw. The QA is atrocious and for what they are charging I’ll save my money.
I sent two separate orders to CGC, under the July vintage deals, which had way quicker turnaround times, back then. The first order I sent in also got pressed and came back in around three months. The second order, which were not pressed, are still in the grading/encapsulating stage and it's been over four months, go figure. Luckily, none of my 15 books from the first order had any "banana gate" damage.
I know you all hate CBCS for some reason, but they advertise their turnaround time when you submit. If they don’t meet that expectation, they refund your grading fee charge. You still have to pay for the shipping charge to and from, but the grading charge is refunded.
That is not true. At least not in my case. Cbcs took a year to my submission back to me, they had moved locations during that time. I had my comics cleaned and pressed prior to the submission and when I got them back they were banged up and dinged up. I've never went back. I dont think any of these companies are good but so far cgc has been good to me.
I’m getting closer and closer to submitting my PC books to cbcs. Cases are better anyway and I can drop off here locally in the Dallas area. Also I can’t wait for my Sanity 2 and 3!!
I personally think the quality will go up a couple of months after PSA starts grading. I think it’ll hit them in the wallet and make them realize they need to fix some stuff before their sales get hit more. I just let my membership lapse to see what happens with PSA once they start up comics. Hopefully the new challenge will up the game at CGC and CBCS both.
I submitted 3 modern books on August 13th and still haven't had them returned to me yet? I understand that when they mentioned to me by email that they suffered some corner crunch damage and they needed to be pressed & then the hurricane caused a slight delay which I called them to inquire as to the status of my books and just get someone at CGC telling me that they are still waiting to be graded and that my fast track payment will be used towards my next submission. Ugh 😮 As of 11/13/24 still no word and my books sre still stuck between Pressing and waiting to being graded? 😡
Wow, with return shipping from Canada that makes it about $125 per vintage. So does that make what I have already a higher value? Did my crap turn into gold?
Ya I sent my books in to be pressed then they went to CGC and when they received my book it was 24 days on the turnaround and nthey are still scheduled for grading they have had them 82 biz days at this point.so about 9 annd half months total.
I've had 5 boxes totalling 30 books and all came back dam near perfect. They books ranged from 1940's Action Comics to brand new hot off the press 2024 books. I was going to send in 50 books for the modern sale and decide to pull the plug. Not because of any issue with bending but I don't want my books sitting in a warehouse for months. I'll send when they get the TAT back under control.
I had seven modern books come back that were bent in their cases in early September and three books on the cover exhibited spine dimple and color braking spine tick because of that spine dimple. All are graded at 9.8 but they do not look like 9.8 in the case. Why can't cgc make me whole by replacing those books with the same book at the same grade and or buying those damaged books for me at the fair market value of a grade 9.8? These books were not submitted to them in that condition and they are definitely not a 9.8 in that condition as they sit in the case.
They staffed-up during the boom, and now that submissions are down, they had excess staff and laid them off. The turnaround times are not a key metric to them, i.e., CGC will size their staff based on submissions, not to uphold a certain turnaround time. The tinfoil hat theory is the quoted TAT's aren't accurate anyway and are used to scare people into fast track to further boost revenue 😅
Like when you order at a restaurant and the food is served in 3 minutes and it seems suspicious. I don't want my books back too soon, but 2 to 3 months wait time is too long. My cleaner & presser has a 3 month wait time. I'm not submitting bc my comics would be out of my hands for 5 to 6 months. Pizza fingers variant covers are a great idea Swag
Hello, I just sent 4 books to CGC today fast tracked. They are books I want to sell ASAP. A week or so ago normal was 30 days and fast track was 13 days but right now it's giving me an estimate of 21 business days. Also, your book Sanity, will your store have 2-3 for someone like me who never backed or heard of this book? I'm buying book 1 off your store at the moment. Thank you.
They have had my books for two weeks and have not opened them yet and put them on the tracking list, so add the unpacking delay to the 81 days. They have lost my books before so we all live in pergatory whenever we send it books to cgc.
Yea, I just got back my 2nd box of a submission I did at Baltimore Comic Con, and it took about 50-60 days for modern tier comics. Also, they have got way more harsh. I sent 9 books that were all high grade with no color breaking spine ticks. Only got 3 book that hit 9.8, and the other 6 hit 9.6. They were all pristine and should’ve been 9.8.
Mentioned this on another channel, but if you want better QC things take longer. You can’t ask for super speed and have everything perfect, things take time. They also ran a vintage promo so they are over loaded with vintage. People need to stop thinking it’s because they are just screwing with people to make them mad. Things happen when running a business, and when you have a long wait it’s because they are busy. If it’s so bad or they suck so bad, why don’t you start your own grading company with turn around times of 3 days for $5 a book with free shipping and see how well you do. You also said they are grading MILLIONS of books, if they graded 1 book a minute a single person could grade 180 books in a 8 hour working day, which means it would take that 1 person 5556 days, or 15.6 years to grade a million books. 81 days isn’t too bad now is it. Use your brains and stop to think for a minute!
Yeah, the wait times suck. No way am I ever paying fast track fees to CGC again. Hire or quit giving a discount bulk vintage or modern discounts. Not happy, but is what it is.
Is CGC trying to re-condition the community? After ramping up during the pandemic and providing a semi-reliable service (or, at least a reasonably quick service once they adjusted staffing levels), they're now trying to convey the message that quick turnaround was a "luxury"? I don't know what their logic is, but laying off tons of people as revenue drops is unfortunate, but very predictable. But lowering the bar for their services when the bar is already low given the amount of scandals they've endured and self-inflicted wounds they've sustained is a heckuva response. It gets even wilder when there's a hotly-anticipated competitor coming in just a few months time. Did CGC essentially train up a bunch of people only to lay them off, and they go work for PSA? Or is this the master plan? Train a bunch of incompetent bozos, get them to work for your competitor so they can scuttle them from the inside?
Submitted a bunch of books back in June and July. Have all of them back but 1. And that 1 isn't CGC's fault; just waiting for Jeremy Renner to do his signing. 😄 But I wonder how much of that 81 days for the Vintage tier might be tied to the promotion that CGC did this summer? I think it was $30/book for the Vintage tier with a minimum 15 books? Wonder if they got inundated with those as a result? And my last returned submission came back clean; no bananas. Not saying "it's over." Just saying that my last submission received was fine.
Yes, receiving recent orders back, still having spine ticks, CGC still denies they ruined the books. Nothing has changed Nelson points his goat hoof at his demon minions and that’s another book destroyed.
If you have to wait 4 months for a book it actually increases the value. Knowing you have to wait that long most comic book collectors are impulsive therefore causes to maybe just buy the slab instead of waiting. If you want lets say a raw ASM 100 in an 8.0 you may be inclined just to buy the slab instead of searching for a raw in that realm and then taking the chance of not getting that 8.0 and wait 4 months for that bad news of getting a 6.5 . You may just say F-it i'll just buy that 8.0 slab now. If I could submit a raw book and get it back in 2 or 3 weeks why would I ever buy someone else's. The longer the better.
I just turned off my auto renew. I will give PSA a shot when they start grading comics. My last submission is over 60 days already. Thanks for the great video.
There understaffed and overworked. And unfortunately there not getting thd training necessary to do this job at the level it needs to be. Most employees there have never read a comic. It a crap show
That's what "pre-screen" is for. People hate when cgc damages their books by putting spine dimples and color breaking spine ticks into the cover of your books and and still calling it a 9.8.
Got mine today over on the East Coast. Can't wait to read them on Sunday. Thanks dude
I think that 10/10 sale got a shit ton of books sent in.
87 days since Cgc received my books. Still scheduled for grading....
Factoring in layoffs as well as the special they ran for vintage bulk probably is contributing to the back up. Just a guess.
They don’t; many are waiting for PSA.

I don’t mind the turnaround time as much as having the book come back messed up. Last two submissions were a train wreck.
Sorry you had a bad submission, my last 5 boxes all came back dam near perfect. Total of 30 books.
Good timing for massive layoffs at CGC
Maybe it has something do with the hurricanes and the layoffs
Ahh the slow progression of Mickey becoming the comic ver of Rudy. Kitchen full of assets and packing supplies. What's next, art, pianos and pinball machines?
folks
Mickey gets a $30 haircut and shows off his vintage Lego collection
Agree. I submitted books in September at Baltimore and still haven’t received them.
The junk slab era begins! 😅
They still haven't learned. Everything is getting slabbed nowadays. All the New releases have slabs LOL
Clicked for Sanity, stayed for vibes.
I just got back my signature series books from Baltimore Comicon. 49 day turnaround. One has some wonkiness but not full banana
81 days for a $400 or less value comic bent in the inner well 👌🏻

Yes, people are spoiled.
I hope we are finally getting to a place where the community is a actually turning against the toxic CGC company.

Those promotions on Vintage this Summer and on Modern this Fall really made folks send in their books !!!
53 days for me so far and this didn't give me any optimism. It was my first submission and it will be my last. It's not worth the aggravation.
"and you know what?" at 2:57 = 👏
CBCS is 20 days on vintage but the community is still stroking CGC. I use both companies but this is crazy. Thanks for the video Swag.

Gotta make them 'fast track' buttons be clicked again
Plus CGC is only open for maybe 5 days between thanksgiving & new years so looks more like 120+ business days.
Whats the turnaround time on getting those fingerprints verified by CGC? If they can track the pizza grease is there some sort of pedigree label? 😅🍕😅
We know the real reason you made a video today is because you were blankly staring at the comic stack and could no longer continue 😂

If CGC rates your book higher, them they get paid more. Doesn't that mean it is in their best interests to inflate values?
Hire me bro! Lol 😆

@RobertWeir but if hardly anyone is buying slabs at all now, it won't matter
