Drawing from memory is hard. You did great. Even if they weren't exact you could tell who they were. I like seeing reinterpretations of characters. Zoidberg looks like he is living his best life, relaxed and confident. The way Zoidberg wishes he was.
It’s always interesting to watch someone try to redraw a known character from memory without references. Because we all know popeye has big arms, but remembering that he’s pretty short/squat and always seems to have one eye closed are those fun little extras you sometimes don’t remember! Fun video!

The Zoidberg is on point, looks more true to the character than the clean cartoon version we usually see. Yours actually looks like he could live in a dumpster behind planet express.
Honestly, Zoidberg, Johnny Bravo and Vegeta were pretty spot on. Popeye looked like a nice fan art, where most of the important parts are there and you know who it is even though it's a different style. Peppa I guess qualifies in that category as well. Goofy and Snoopie were not specific enough to look like themselves, and if I hadn't watched the video and just came at the end I probably wouldn't have guessed who they were. But overall I think you did a stellar job, it's a lot harder than people think, especially if you didn't prepare beforehand
Jonny Bravo was definitely the best. The key to early Disney characters is the egg-shaped eyes. The rest is built using repeated ovals. Snoopy is all in the head shape, once that was off, you were not going to make it back. Your rendition did have some elements that more resembled Shultz's very early drawings. Ironically, you had a really good Vegeta to start, but then you doubted yourself and went for more of a Piccolo hybrid. It struck me that your Dr. Zoidberg looked like if Zoidberg appeared on Family Guy. It's all in the eyes. As for Popeye, the squint of the left eye is key. As an Aussie, I wouldn't expect you to know what early US Navy uniforms looked like during WWII. So, you were not going to get that right. The person selecting the reference photos did you a little dirty on that one as they selected an image from his comic strip, not the cartoon. His look evolved a lot over the years and there was always a substantial difference between the cartoon and the comic.
The Johnny Bravo and Zoidberg ones were definitely the best. I feel like your Vegeta looks more like teenage Gohan in terms of how you did the hair, which interestingly, most of the male DBZ characters all use the same base. There's a famous TikTok / Short of some guy cycling through all the hair styles and they look exactly like the characters. So the differences are super subtle.
You should do one where you have other people (kids?) do what you just did, then you have to re-draw those as close as you can to the actual thing like you just did, but now, you have to interpret what they drew and do it "better/closer". This might also work as a colab with other artists like you do sometimes.

That's funny. As you were drawing them, I was completely blank. I know what they look like and would have been pretty confident drawing them, and then.... nothing. You did way better than I would have :D
This is very challenging. I had fun trying quick sketches of the characters I recognized. And I wasn't even close. You did great.... 😃👍🏼 (on all of them).
I feel like all the characters weren't too bad. Snoopy felt more like Charlie Brown, but it still captured the Peanuts essence a bit. Goofy does feel like a distant relative of himself, but the design fits well within the cartoon. Vegeta is spot on aside from his outfit. Zoidburg is giving Spongebob vibes (particular of the Patrick Star variety) but still good. You couldn't have gotten much closer with Johnny Bravo. I honestly forgot the shape of Peppa's head too, so I'll let that one slide. Popeye is hard because the version you were shown was basically the OG, but your design resembles later iterations of Popeye where his sailor uniform was white and his one eye is more visible and not just black. However, I kept think over and over "Shut one eye, please, shut one eye!" because it feels so iconic to his design.
Love to see you do this again where we don't know what you're trying to draw until the end. Would love to try and guess what it is as you're going along.
