What is incredible is that he did not have children yet when he sang this one, still he was able to put all the right emotions in his interpretation. That shows how good he was.

Daniel Balavoine was way ahead of his time. He tackled issues that are now common at a time when they were not. My divorce didn't get well and this song made me cry but also gave me a lot of courage to fight for my son. This will give me goosebumps the rest of my life.
Yes, very emotional ! Many singers ignore the need to convey emotions, to convey them to the public. Balavoine lived and felt his songs. He didn't just recite. Balavoine said that the most important in life is emotion.
One of his most beautiful songs by the lyrics. "Le chanteur" is in that way musically, but more intensive by this character who wants be adored by his fans, this singer who starts his career and who want to drink the cup of celebrity to the dregs. Who wants to end up alone and poor and hated by all after having experienced all the vices, to be going to the very bottom of what one could go, after having wallowed in the mire of lust. Because he wants to be unhappy enough not to want to live anymore and to leave this life without regrets. It's a song again of rare intensity, with also a construction which goes crescendo until the end of the song.
If I remember correctly, he sang about one of his friend who broke with his wives and his friend was scared of less seeing their children because generally, especially at this time, it was essentially the mother who keep the children. So he said that even if he's the father he know how to elevate his children and the fact that if he loose his children, he would "break everything" because his children are very important to him. I'm not sure but I think it's the story of the song

A uniquely brilliant song that really grabs you. There is nothing like it. And the perfect song for Daniel’s unique voice which is always like a cry from the heart.
Could you please react to 'Pour la femme veuve qui s'eveille" which means "for the widow that wakes up" the song is incredible and the music is so strong: You will love it Daniel Balavoine was one of the most incredible French singer. We miss this kind of strong personnality.
Hi Derek! Love your reviews of french songs. It's cool to had an insight of a non-french speaker and especially those by the great Daniel Balavoine. Just for the story of that particular song, it was inspired by the Kramer vs. Kramer movie, starting Dustin Hoffman and Merryl Streep! Apparently, Balavoine and his guitarist of the time went to the theatre to saw that movie, not knowing that his guitarist friend lived that situation with is ex-wife. Balavoine wasn't a father at the time but he put himself in that role and the result is a song of great humanity and that's why Daniel Balavoine is a kind of special singer to me. There's no others like him and he is greatly missed, not just in France but in Quebec too, where I come from. Continue your good work, Derek!
As a young listener to old french classics (well, you reacted to a lot a french songs so now you're kinda an expert!) , I have to say you really captured the spirit of it all, and that artist in particular. As a French myself, I've never been really into french music, but there are a few untouchable ones IMHO : Daniel Balavoine, Michel Berger, Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Laurent Voulzy, Alain Souchon... That song you reacted too is so powerful and painful at the same time, yet very melodic...
once is not customary, the source is of excellent quality! There are other songs with high audio quality, directly prefer these ones. Even if you get used to the sounds of the French language quite a bit. Listening to such powerful vocal artists requires listening as comfortably as possible. I imagine this comment is superfluous, but frankly I always insist on the quality of the source. Thank you dereck for your reactions, but especially for your very refreshing analyzes. (thx google translate that helped me tonight)
Two other french hits of the 80's / 90's : Gilbert Montagné - Sous les Sunlights des Tropiques (Happy song !) LIANE FOLY - Doucement (Great melody !) Thanks for your videos. Great "souvenirs" from the french people like me.
As you like Balavoine who is a great singer, you should have a look and hear French singer Christophe of 2 of his best songs “les paradis perdus” and “les mots bleus”. You will enjoy them for sure as they are quite uniques.
His two best performances were "quand on arrive en ville" (when we just come downtown) and "le chanteur" (the singer) with an absolutely magnificient end if you like vocals. "Quand on arrive en ville" is from Starmania, a musical comedy, is the song that made Balavoine to be known and "le chanteur" the song that definitely put him at the top of french singers by far. By the way "the taller" lol was pretty funny. le plus grand = the best
He wrote this song for a singer friend who was going through a divorce, not for himself ;) when he screams, it is not a scream for help, it is a huge threat for anyone, nothing will stop me, I have nothing to lose if I lose my child
Hi . excellent choice. another precision on the anecdote that I learned recently. when daniel saw kramer against kramer he was with a guitarist who was in the middle of a divorce and it was thinking about the movie and his friend that he wrote this song.
For those who do not understand the text, it is the story of a separation and the battle, in court, for the custody of his son. Think of the movie "Kramer vs. Kramer".
Such a great song, that you magnificently reacted to. Please, and that's a request some of us expressed before, react to "Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille", such a wonderful song.
@Dereck about the lyrics - if they knew that I was for you the "greatest", not taller (the best singer, that's what she thought of him and now, wanting a divorce, she says that his job is nothing, just wind (not windy..)

YEEEEEESS !!! Please, react to "Frappe Avec La Tête" or "Le Chanteur" from him. You won't regret.
Could you please react to 'Pour la femme veuve qui s'eveille" which means "for the widow that wakes up" the song is incredible and the music is so strong: You will love it
Daniel Balavoine was one of the most incredible French singer. We miss this kind of strong personnality.
Very emotional song . Love daniel balavoine , a fabulous singer !! 🔥
Les oiseaux 1 and 2. The Master piece
So great!!
J'adore vraiment ta réaction sur Daniel Balavoine 🥰🥰
I like your reactions with Daniel Balavoine Dereck 😊😊
From Balavoine you Can listen " aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé " . Just Amazing
One of the most beautiful song I never ever heard
another song , sos terrien en détresse , starmania , just amazing
I love the way you are IN ^^
Une voie, des mots... Un ange qui nous manque énormément.
The best song of mister Daniel Balavoine for me
Balavoine - Le Chanteur and its coming right at you guys ! ;)
the best balavoine
once is not customary, the source is of excellent quality!
Ce texte m'arrache le Coeur !
Masterpiece!!!
Every french men cries listening to this song
And i challenge in a sword duel every french man who tells me i'm wrong
The song was inspired by Kramer vs Kramer the movie, Daniel said so himself.
Two other french hits of the 80's / 90's :
Gilbert Montagné - Sous les Sunlights des Tropiques (Happy song !)
LIANE FOLY - Doucement (Great melody !)
Thanks for your videos. Great "souvenirs" from the french people like me.
I dream of living in a parallel world, another dimension, where Daniel Balavoine would not have died in January 1986...
As you like Balavoine who is a great singer, you should have a look and hear French singer Christophe of 2 of his best songs “les paradis perdus” and “les mots bleus”.
You will enjoy them for sure as they are quite uniques.
Indeed !
Hi Derecks the song "Aimer et plus fort que d'être aimer" is a very good song
His two best performances were "quand on arrive en ville" (when we just come downtown) and "le chanteur" (the singer) with an absolutely magnificient end if you like vocals.
"Quand on arrive en ville" is from Starmania, a musical comedy, is the song that made Balavoine to be known and "le chanteur" the song that definitely put him at the top of french singers by far.
By the way "the taller" lol was pretty funny. le plus grand = the best
Have you react to "le chanteur" from Balavoine?
Daniel was very inspired by Peter Gabriel in his last work...using Synthclavier etc...
He wrote this song for a singer friend who was going through a divorce, not for himself ;)
when he screams, it is not a scream for help, it is a huge threat for anyone, nothing will stop me, I have nothing to lose if I lose my child
Hi . excellent choice. another precision on the anecdote that I learned recently. when daniel saw kramer against kramer he was with a guitarist who was in the middle of a divorce and it was thinking about the movie and his friend that he wrote this song.
Please react to "Le Chanteur", You're gonna lose your bananas on this one !
You didn't watch Kramer vs. Kramer ?!? You absolutely NEED to see it, masterpiece !
💜💜💜🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
For those who do not understand the text, it is the story of a separation and the battle, in court, for the custody of his son.
Think of the movie "Kramer vs. Kramer".
My favorite Daniel Balavoine song is not the most famous but it is so perfect : "les oiseaux 2ème partie"
This song is about divorce just like the movie Kramer vs Kramer with Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman.
Another french song about a father in divorce : les divorcés by Michel Delpech.
Have a nice day 😉😄🌈
Balavoine was always 100% invest in his songs
Your french is better than ever : "Mon fils ma bataille"
perfect guy
Un enfant assis attend la pluie-Petite Angèle !!
