"La vie ne m'apprend rien" (Life teaches me nothing). This lyrics could be interpreted as a bragging from anyone else. But coming from Daniel Balavoine, it's an evidence. This man was so committed, it was like if he knew since his birth that his life would be short and that he have so little time to undertake all the missions he had set for himself. He showed such determination, such dedication. He always seemed to shake other people up, like, "Hey smash your cigarette, you'll smoke later, we've got a world to save!" I can imagine him pronouncing this somewhat surreal style of phrase to one of his singing buddies. That was Daniel Balavoine. This song is, I think, the one that portrays him the best ...Oui, c'est toi qui nous a appris Daniel, appris à être des hommes. (Yes, it was you who taught us Daniel, taught us to be men, true human beings). Merci.
One of his most beautiful song... His other greatest hits are : - Mon Fils Ma Bataille (1980) - Le chanteur (1978) - Quand on arrive en ville (1978) - Dieu que c'est beau (1984) x La vie ne m'apprend rien (1980) x Je ne suis pas un Héros (1980) x Vivre ou Survivre (1982) x S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse (1978) x Tous les cris les S.O.S. (1985) x L' Aziza (1985) x Sauver l'amour (1985)
oh man, he was such a true and beautiful artist, his lyrics were spectacular as well. this was usually the first thing to catch me. I will love him til the end. thanks for discovering him, it brings joy.
His first great great hit was "Le Chanteur" (The Singer) let's listen to this one ! The lyrics are about relationships and fame. Enjoy and have a nice day, Dereck

Thanks for all your videos! Another video from Daniel Balavoine : "Dieu que c'est beau", with real wonderful lyrics, as always with this singer : ruclips.net/video/6x8Is2K68TI/видео.html Enjoy!
This Artist was a real One, his voice was just one part of is beauty, his texts and him as a person ( and what he says about politics ) was just 10/10. A great great human, we miss him a lot ! ( It was during an operation to deliver water pumps for rice cultivation that he died, along with four other people, in a helicopter crash while flying over the Malian desert. )
This song has such great lyrics I love it! What remains from ideals in a hail of gunfire When their preachers are safe from the battle The life of the fallen is no longer saved by medals

Nice reaction to one of my Daniel Balavoine's favourite songs. Power and emotion, you can find it in several DB's songs like 'Un enfant assis attend la pluie', Soulève-moi', 'Partir avant les miens', 'Dieu que l'Amour est triste', 'Dieu que c'est beau', 'Petit homme mort au combat', 'Lady Marlène', and on, and on... Thank you for your work !!!
Another great reaction video, thanks a lot Derek !
Thanks Dereck, This is one of his bests, one of my favorites at least. It touches me hard, lots of his lyrics in this song can be "personal" to me... Glad that he transcends languages with his singing skills.
2 song titles are particularly important to me, it's about " Daniel Balavoine - Vivre ou survivre (1982)" and then "Daniel Balavoine - Aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé (1986)" However reduce the work of this singer has two titles only is too reductive, the power and charisma of the character, Daniel Balavoine has strongly marked his time here in France
You put à copyright Block on the images but it's from INA (Public Free Institute you can go on their Web site freely too normally) so they are actually copyright free 😉 And again thank you, thx to you americans can discover french music masterpieces 😊
Even if some archives are in free access on RUclips, French public TV channels can always claim a copyright infringement, record companies too.
Telephone is a great French band ! It's a good proposal. In 2015 , the new name of the band was " Les Insus ". Insus = insup-portable. Portable = smartphone = telephone. One of the Telephone's best single is : Ça ( c'est vraiment toi ). Tranlation: That ( is really you ). It is a dance + rock single. The video is funny. Let's dance !
Hi Dereck, I repeat me, but react to : - Dieu que c'est beau (God it's beautiful) - Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille (For the widowed woman who wakes up) - Partir avant les miens (Leave before mine)
hmm interesting. But among his very best to me are "Le Chanteur", "Quand on Arrive en Ville", and arguably his most beautiful of all "Un Enfant Assis Attend la Pluie".
Hi Dereck ! Thanks for listening to french artists ;-) Balavoine is also one of my favourite singers. In english language, there is a true gem you maybe not know, so I highly suggest you to hear the song "IT'S ONLY MYSTERY" sung by ARTHUR SIMMS (from Luc Besson's movie "Subway"). This song cannot leave my mind... Soooo good !
It's weird. It is like I discover again BALAVOINE with Decek's videos. It has been a while I haven't hear this song and I listen to it in a different way. Weight of tje years ? life experience ? Derck's innocence and passion listening to him ? Maybe all these reasons
A unique voice. I always loved it from the day I heard it. I think it was impossible not to respond to his authenticity and passion. He just called out to you. He was singing to say something and you couldn't help but react. One of a kind. (and yes, that sweater is so odd; even then, it was odd, but he didn't care much about that sort of thing, I believe... It's about his music, his voice and his message :-) )
I'm a relatively young Frenchman and though I knew of him and heard this song many times I never quite caught the depth and relevance of the lyrics and the emotion he puts in this one. Adding to great orchestration it's a real nice song indeed, maybe its best imo
Laws don't make men anymore
But a few men make the law.
It's a shame it's still true today
I agree with you
Dereck, Daniel was the voice of a generation.
if you want an other by Daniel look at " mon fils, ma bataille" a masterpiece

Daniel Balavoine: Le Chanteur.
I don't know anyone who doesn't like that song.

Of course, his first success ! Fortunately because his producer wanted to give up after several albums that did not work.

Who dares to say he can teach me the feelings

Who can change what I carry in my blood
Who has the right to forbid me to be alive

2 song titles are particularly important to me, it's about " Daniel Balavoine - Vivre ou survivre (1982)" and then "Daniel Balavoine - Aimer est plus fort que d'être aimé (1986)"
However reduce the work of this singer has two titles only is too reductive, the power and charisma of the character, Daniel Balavoine has strongly marked his time here in France
Balavoine is just one of those french singer that marked generations and the fact he died early make all his song so strong.
@@zawaktv1673 Yes ; of course ; you're right 👍
Oh oui vivre ou survivre ❤

Another hit of balavoine " lipstick" great melody 👌
you know he's a composer, and most of his song were composed on keyboard (of a piano or synthe).
You put à copyright Block on the images but it's from INA (Public Free Institute you can go on their Web site freely too normally) so they are actually copyright free 😉
And again thank you, thx to you americans can discover french music masterpieces 😊
Even if some archives are in free access on RUclips, French public TV channels can always claim a copyright infringement, record companies too.
Thank you Dereck about this video..Yes, his soul transpires in his voice..
Hello Dereck, you should discover the telephone group of the 80s, kiss from France
Téléphone c'est sympa, mais c'est un rip off des Rolling Stones qui rippent off Chuck Berry...
Hi Dereck,
I repeat me, but react to :
- Dieu que c'est beau (God it's beautiful)
- Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille (For the widowed woman who wakes up)
- Partir avant les miens (Leave before mine)
the best songs you haven't done yet.
hmm interesting.
Recommandé Balavoine / mon fils ma bataille
dereck you became a star in France our main media are talking about you 😃😃
He found a gold mine with french people lol Well done!
Thank you for your videos. Love you bro
It is not the most famous, but "les oiseaux, 2ème partie" is a beautiful song by Daniel Balavoine.
Chef d'œuvre oui.
Aaaww yes love that song !
I'm a relatively young Frenchman and though I knew of him and heard this song many times I never quite caught the depth and relevance of the lyrics and the emotion he puts in this one. Adding to great orchestration it's a real nice song indeed, maybe its best imo
As much as i like Balavoine On this one I adore the cover version by splendid Liane Foly from the late 90‘s
