The subtitles are just insane 😂😂😂😂
Because RUclips tries to display in english the raw french text that it phonetically "hears", without traduction. The result is terrible.
Dereck should either disable the captions or at least set the parameters for a translation, even approximative.
I am just finishing Garou's part and I am laughing so hard about those translations
@@patrickcaradec6174 I am a professional translator and I messaged Dereck a few weeks ago to offer my services but no answer so far…
This song is one of the most famous but the whole show is just insane!
Great homage to famous french writter Victor Hugo and his famous novel Notre-Dame de Paris, already a great homage to Middle-Age and Gothic monuments! Staring Casimodo and Esmeralda, of course!
It was also for the french the discover of Garou who comes from Quebec and has this very special tone of voice! Thank you Dereck!
@@GenetetIncorporated why would he you can find official translations online in a few clicks, why would a pro translator even offer their services like that. I would also flag it as a scam/spam
“Le Temps des Cathédrales” by Bruno Pelletier is a must see too.
Je l'adore celle-là
I second this! Such a strong performance.
The entire show is a masterpiece, a must see !
Totalement d'accord avec toi
Yes Dereck you would love to see and listen to all the musical "Notre Dame de Paris", lot of great songs and singer !
@@emelinedarricau1009 and we'll enjoy to watch him reacting to it too!
And it's great in every language in which it has been translated, love Italian version too!
"Sous le vent" with Garou and Celine Dion is a very beautiful song...
Garou and Daniel Lavoie are French Canadian singers. And also Luc Plamondon, the guy with the sunglasses at the beginning of the video who wrote the lyrics of the song and of all the musical, Notre-Dame de Paris.
This song is amazing, its from Notre Dame de Paris. Another great one is Le temps des Cathedrales.
From Daniel Lavoie check his song "Ils s'aiment" , a beauty !
i can only +1 this
and Jours de plaines, and Je voudrais voir New York, and J'ai quitté mon île. ...
The subtitles of Belle in English made me laugh so much!
Ca parle d'une Cloche, non ? Bell(e)...
@@samueldevulder are you french or english native speaker ?
Belle means more than pretty.
@@celinewirard7583 According to Larousse: Beau, belle (adj), from Latin _bellus_ , means pretty. According to Oxford dictionary: Bell (noun): a hollow metal object, often shaped like a cup, that makes a ringing sound when hit by a small piece of metal inside it.
@@samueldevulder yea, but it's a french song, with french words. So you have to accord with Larousse ;)
@@celinewirard7583 Larusso ? ;)
I'm Belgian and was born in 1995. I grew up with the musical, my mum went to see them in Brussels when I was 3 and literally everyone knows this song. Start to sing it anywhere, and people will sing with you, even 24 years after the song was released and the start of the tour of "Notre Dame de Paris". I know every single song, I watched the VHS so many times that we weren't able to watch or listen the first and last ten minutes anymore. Now I have the blue ray, the CD, the numeric version and even books about it.
I'm literally just back home after a concert of Garou (which is why I found your video) and he sing it every time. They all lived together for a least a year, more for some of them, and now they are still close friends, all seven of them, which is why you see so much chemistry between them.
It's probably a cultural thing, but all generations knows it, and even the younger ones know at least this emblematic song.
Thank you for the video, I hope to see more french songs !
If you didn’t know garou and Louis Delors sang it in the voice france like 2 years ago and Patrick fiory joined at the end my mom and I were siting on the ground right in front of the tv almost crying and smiling so much it made us so happy
This song is a masterpiece it's an eternal classic whether it's the voices/arrangements/lyrics and metaphors, it's from the musical "the hunchback of Notre Dame" and they're singing about Esmeralda, and each has their own strength and uniqueness of voice which matches perfectly the characters
No, " The Hunchback of Notre-Dame " is the Disney movie.
The musical is " Notre-Dame de Paris "
"Le temps des cathédrales" now !
la voix de Patrick Fiori... magique..
If you like this song now you HAVE TO see "Le temps des Cathédrales" by Bruno Pelletier !
One of the most beautiful French songs.
To this day I think Daniel Lavoie has one of the most beautiful sounding voices I've ever heard, he could read the phone book and it would sound great
Exactly!
Absolutely!!!
And he is so cute !!!!
Excellent choice. Patrick Fiori's voice is something 😲
They work together during the musical comedy "Notre Dame de Paris", from the novel of Victor Hugo, with Quasimodo (Garou)
Thanks a lot for this gift song 🤩🤩🤩🌞🌞🌞💐💐💐💖💖💖
Daniel Lavoie : Ils s'aiment - Garou : Seul - Patrick Fiori : Toutes les peines and a song in duet with JJ Goldman : 4 mots sur un piano
In the same musical, I recommend "le temps des cathédrales" sung by the superb voice of Bruno Pelletier
Thank you for the laugh, as a French-Canadien myself the subtitles of the song makes it of the funniest video I watched.
Notre-Dames de Paris is a gem, so many good songs! All their voices are perfect for their characters
Hiiiiighly recommended you'll love it!
4:36 I'm dying at the subtitles on the song video : " Tell me HA a skeleton " 🤣
(Singer#1-hunchback of Notre-Dame)
Belle (Beautiful)
This is a word that seems to have been invented for her,
When she dances and when she exposes her body to the day, just like
A bird which outspreads its wings to get off the ground.
This is when I feel the hell, opening up under my feet
I've looked under her Gypsy dress.
What else is there to ask Virgin Mary for?
Who
Is the one who'll throw the first stone at her?
They do not deserve to stay on Earth.
Oh, Lucifer!
Let me, just once,
Run my fingers through the hair of Esmeralda.
(Singer#2- the priest)
Belle
Is it the devil who has incarnated into her
To tear my eyes from the eternal God?
Who has put into my being this carnal desire
To prevent me from looking to the Heaven?
She carries the original sin in herself
Is desiring her a crime for me?
The one who they considered a funny girl, a jade
Suddenly seems to carry the cross of the humanity
O, Virgin Mary!
Let me, just once,
Open the door to the garden of Esmeralda.
(singer#3-Captain of the guard)
Belle
Despite her big black eyes which bewitch you
Would the lady still be a virgin?
When her movements show me mountains and miracles
Under her underskirt of the colours of the rainbow
My Dulcinea, let me be unfaithful to you
Before I lead you down the aisle
What
A man would tear his regard from her
Under penalty of being turned into a pillar of salt
O, Fleur-de-Lys,
I'm not a man of my word
I'm going to pluck the flower of Esmeralda's love
(All)
I've looked under her Gypsy dress
What else is there to ask Virgin Mary for?
Who
Is the one who'll throw a stone at her?
They don't deserve to stay on Earth.
Oh, Lucifer!
Let me, just once,
Run my fingers through the hair of Esmeralda
Daniel Lavoie - "Ils s'aiment "
French musicals are amazing anyway ..." les rois du monde" from Romeo and Juliet for next time?
Vérone 💞
Beautiful song. And for those who ask, the guy with sunglasses at the start is Luc Plamondon (who wrote lyrics of the song).
Amazing musical. They make me so proud to be French Canadian. Beautiful French and French cooperation
Well if you want to know more about Notre Dame de Paris you should definitely listen « Le temps des cathédrales » or « Lune » Bruno Pelletier have such a perfect voice
"Lune" fait partie de mon top 1 de la comédie musicale. Bruno Suprématie !
trois voix si différentes mais qui s'accordent parfaitement..tous les trois si talentueux.j'aime beaucoup cette chanson.
Daniel Lavoie is a great artist from Manitoba, Canada. One of my favorite songs from Daniel Lavoie is "Jours de plaine", in which he talks about his birthplace. The videoclip is a beautiful animation: ruclips.net/video/lZk5C1QNUXQ/видео.html
que de bons souvenirs, si belle chanson...
There are numerous hits , in Notre-Dame de Paris. Patrick Fiory is STRONG in " Déchiré ". He is "Déchiré" for his Love for TWO WOMEN , Esmeralda and Fleur-de - Lys ( Lily Flower ). During the song , Patrick Fiory sings the chorus stronger again and again . At the end , he really screams !
Notre-Dame de Paris was written by Victor Hugo , in 1831. You have all informations about the book , in Wikipedia.
Loving the 80's as you do, Daniel Lavoie has a song called "Tension, Attention" which you'd love.
Or Je Voudrais Voir New York
May I humbly suggest Gregory Lemarchal? Truly incredible voice.
Yes !!! 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
So so so soooooo good! And much more to discover: Hélène Segara as Esmeralda, Bruno Pelletier as troubadour poet Gringoire, Luck Mervil as the gypsy leader Chopin... all extraordinary talent. Worth watching over and over and over!!!!!!!
Yeah L'une is one of my favorite!
omg, i’m literally listening this song like 20 times per day and you make a video on it.
The lyrics are amazing, the singers are amazing.
Hello Dereck, what great voices these artists have. The voices merge with the music. That's something very special. And the whole thing live too.I love it.!A sensitive reaction from you Dereck!!💝🐬💝😄
You are so cute in your sensibility ! I love you Dereck... The first time i post a comment !
Just to give you hindsight of how popular this song is. I was 8 years old when Notre dame de paris came out. I am now 32 and we sang it like two weeks ago in a karaoke bar.
Daniel Lavoie chanson ils s'aiment
Dereck, you did it! You made me tear up., I love this song so much, so beautiful, so epic and performed by very talented artists with very different but distinctive voices. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the preview! I get to see this show in NYC later this month. I'm really looking forward to it!
Le temps des cathédrales:
an absolute MASTERPEACE !
France was discovering for the first time Garou, a talent from Quebec!
Great homage to Victor Hugo and his Notre-Dame de Paris.
Esmeralda is a gipsy (=gitane), which explains her beautifull Spanish name!
The translation is non-sense.
TY Dereck 4 your reaction!
Fun fact : the last singer Patrick Fiori is the french voice of Shang in the Disney movie Mulan. His performance of "Comme un Homme" is amazing, y'all should check it out !
The flagship song of one of the 5 best musicals of all time ...
OMG ! The YT translation under the video ! 😂😂😂
That song is soooo beautiful
The subtitles are hilarious wtf🤣
great chemistry, well they did play together for 2 years in the musical : The Hunchback of the Notre Dame.
One of the most beautiful french song !
You need to react to Bruno Pelletier and his songs from the same musical, Notre Dame de Paris. His voice is amazing.
Bruno Pelletier and Patrick Fiori are two of my favorites.
Aaah j'adore Patrick Fiori 🙌❤️
Garou & Céline Sous le vent, pls. You gonna like those harmonies soooo much. Masterclass, man.
Patrick Fiori wowwww.
The musical was huge back in the day, everywhere on radio, tv shows.. yet I never saw it full and live, I believe I will now thanks
I've seen Patrick en concert some 10 years ago and he was fab. What a voice. J'y vais.... 2020 still successfull.... Patrick was reprensenting France in 1993 Eurovision for France and then dissappeared to reappear with that one, it put him back on the map for good. Ever since he's been really succesfull. Garou disappeared a bit from the charts, but had big success as well, besides being utterly sexy. He had a nice duet with Celine Dion - Sous Le Vent. Garou, the stress in on the second syllable...
What are those lyrics translation? They make no sense at all!
So… Garou was Quasimodo and his broken voice matched so well the hunchback of Notre-Dame. Daniel Lavoine was Frollo the priest, and he totally got the seriousness of this character… and finally Patrick plays Phoebus the magnificent knight… and once again, his bright tenor voice matches perfectly the beautiful warrior that everyone envies.
It's the automatic translation made by your RUclips. But here there were set for 'english', even if the song is in French. So it's just a 'phonetic' translation. The algoritm 'finds' english words in a french text.
The automatic subtitle are very funny ^^
The musical is base on "Le bossu de Notre-Dame" from Victor Hugo (there is a disney film too)
You've just made my day Dereck 😅 ! Thanks !
From the same show, you should listen Bruno Pelletier's song called "Lune". His live performance is incredible.
Patrick Fiori and Florent Pagny « J’y vais » is a very good one too😉
Gitan from Garou was a big hit. You would love its latino beat.
Remembering this show... It was helping me to fall asleep in my childhood and Belle was my favourite song 😍
The english translation from youtube is incredible haha "when she danse and..." become "go to those cigarettes or colors"
lol the subtitles are just ... no word.
Those subtitles couldn't be more wrong! haha
I just discovered your channel and it's awesome. I would find it super funny if you made us a series of "fail" videos with parodies of songs or hits that are a little naive or unclassifiable. Just a small idea but above all does not change anything else
The musical is filled with hits.
I won’t lie, I was looking for reactions to songs from the Mamoru Hosoda movie at first and your video showed up on top of the search results, and it was very unexpected. I didn’t know this show was known in english speaking countries.
Le temps des cathedrales by Bruno Pelletier from the same musical is a must too
This musical was magic 🤩👍🏻 I loved "Roméo et Juliette" with Cecilia Cara et Damien Sargue too ❤
The translation 😂😂😭🤣
Garou's real name is Pierre Garant a Quebecer whom I have known well in the past having worked in the blues with him in Quebec. Daniel Lavoie is from Manitoba in Canada and Patrick Fiori is a French from France. Three beautiful French speaking voices gathered on the same stage. The Notre Dame de Paris show is a Quebec production presented in Paris.
The song about "Quasimodo, the Hunchback of Notre-Dame (interpreted by Garou).
I 've just recently found that musical. It is fantastic. Check the Flemish production of "Belle", too. The third guy is great as well there.
Patrick voice's ❤❤❤
since you like Daniel Lavoie's voice, you should listen to his song "Ils s'aiment" and "Je voudrais voir New York"
Ils s'aiment is a beautiful song.
Johnny Hallyday & Patrick Fiori - Vivre pour le meilleur top top top the big voice!!!!
At 1:39 - 1:43 we can see the author, Luc Plamondon (the guy with curly hair and glasses).
Garou is awesome, he got first known locally for singing blues at a club in my city. You should look at him singing Georgia on my mind or you can leave your hat on.
CC were hilarious!
at the end Garou was shouting, "it's a dream !!!! for us to do/sing it together". Maybe because in the Notre-Dame musical they each sang separately their burnin desire for Esmeralda, Garou, The Hunchback, Daniel, The Priest and Patrick The Captain of the guard
Hi ! Nice react again on a beautiful song (won "french song of the century" in 2000).
If you liked those guys, you have nice duos with other singers in your heart :
- La rivière de notre enfance - Garou and Michel Sardou (a must)
- 4 mots sur un piano - Patrick Fiori and Mr JJ Goldman (the end is heartbreking)
And, already mentionned :
- sous le vent - Garou and Céline Dion
Notre Dame de Paris the musical is a stepping stone in French music recent history. It’s was the first French musical since Starmania 20 years before who had success. It shows a lot of authors that there could be success for French musical. There was really a before and an after.
If you like french musical , then you have " Tatoues moi" et "lassassymphonie" of Mozart the rock Opéra. 😊
Énorme .le cœur est fusionnel🤧
