  • This must be the best venue for a train show!
    Elgin County Railway Museum hosted it's first Model Train Show within the actual museum. Venders were sandwiched between full sized restored Steam Locomotives and Passengers cars.
    And I got some of the best bargains I've ever seen.

    Sleepers are usually near the end of the train and the little black wheels you found in that kit are hand brake wheels. They mount on the ends of the cars.

    The chessie is an AHM car. The two ice reefers and CRM car are Atheran cars
    Continental is P2K, Potash is Athearn, and the UP is a Front range car, I believe.

    Not sure if anyone commented, your Kato with no DB means no Dynamic Brakes. There are no fan grills on the roof in the center section where the Dynamic Brakes should be.. They also usually flare out the roof at the sides where they go too.
    I believe you have either Athearn or Atlas locos where the top middle section of the roof pops off. Thats the dynamic or no dynamic brakes.

    The Mogul needs some small freight cars, and a combine/baggage/caboose car for mixed train service. The cars you have go better with an American 4-4-0 type engine, from the 1890's. The Mogul works for 1920's-1930's shortline trains

    • @ScottRails

      Yeah, that was an actual steal. I thin the motor and shafts have been swapped out for something newer. The shafts are very skinny compared to every other Athearn BB I have.

    • @michaelcudby787
      @michaelcudby787 3 месяца назад

      @@ScottRails Pretty sure, Dave, that the dash9 is RTR by Athearn. A newer release than the older BB one. The BB dash 9s were badly inaccurate around the front windscreen, & the RTR models have the upgraded drivetrain. Athearn copied the Kato drivetrain & called the hex driveline, hence the skinny driveshafts.The flywheels have a hexaginal recess in the ends, just like the Katos. Still has the later style BB motor but with a circuit board & DCC ready, oh & has factory wired head/tailights. A Kato motor would pretty much drop into those driveshafts but mounting the Kato motor to the chassis would be a little more tricky.You will notice that the truck sideframes are different to most dash 9s That is correct for the CP Dash 9s. Just more usefull information. Cheers Michael NZ

    FYI: “Without DB” is referring to the dynamic brakes, which your SD40-2 model does not have. If it did you’d normally see that vent that is typically along the middle of the locomotive, right above the CN logo in this instance

    Awesome video and great buys!! For your 20th Century Limited, remember that with the twin unit dining car, the kitchen car should always [per NYC operating rules] be placed behind the table car. Prevents kitchen smells from rolling back into the seating area. If you have a single unit diner, the kitchen end is also to the rear. As for your older cars the sleepers can be placed behind the diner, so that coach passengers don't walk through the sleepers to get to dinner. Actually as long as the diner separates the coach passengers from the sleeping car passengers, it doesn't matter whether they're behind the loco - Besides, your RPO and baggage cars will be immediately behind the loco. Enjoy them and have fun!!!!
