The clips you hassle with at 3:40, sometimes you can get them from the top with a long very small flat screwdriver.

Just to advise you that voltage drop will only occur under load, connect your meter to farthest point and run train towards it whilst monitoring voltage.

Overall not a bad job you'll getting people asking you to do it for them next.

The gear issue could be a factory defect, or it was near a heat source while drying. As far as the backwards headlights, always check CV 29. There is an option to set the locomotive to run as long hood forward in CV 29. This may be chosen by mistake which would make the headlights seem backwards. Also, the rear head light may be on a separate light function which may make it turn off and on separately. The last thing that I wondered about was the speaker. I don't know if the volume is too high causing the speaker to crackle or it was damaged from the flood. This may be something to look at in the future after some CV adjustments.

You found the needles in the haystack so hats off to you. I can't believe how many decoder companies there is, and they all have OEM instructions but on the bright side they are starting to line up as far as F-controls. I'm too old and all the locomotives I collected over the years are DC and now the DCC is pricing itself out of business. I'll wait till all the used crap on eBay and other sale sites is DCC and cheap. Maybe that's the problem for me I'm CHEAP, lol. Great repair and video, Jersey Bill

Water will not warp gears. My guess is a manufacturing defect, or the decoder is unhappy

My one locomotive with a QSI decoder came with the default factory volume UP AGAINST THE STOPS!!!! Startled the dickens out of me. Another area to consider when moisture gets into the mix is the worm bearings. They will often need a "squidge" (love the term) and manual rotation to free them up. I also insert a flat toothpick into the gear cover(s) to prevent them from re-latching while I'm prying the others up. Thanks for the tip about the tweezers. Cheers!
