I remember when Weekend Update used to be you'd hear the joke and chuckle and nod and go, "huh, yeah," and that was it. This segment actually had me literally laughing out loud.

@@larryjohnson3087 I think Norm had his moments, but was pretty uneven. Sometimes he enjoyed bombing a little too much, and he'd get caught up in these meta, can I get away with saying "Michael Jackson is a homosexual pedophile" type things too often.

@@Nightowl333 When someone is obese they have a higher lieklyhood of suffering from diabetes. If you suffer from diabetes and do do anything to treat it you will eventually have to have body parts amputated. One of the first to go is usually your foot.

weekend update is the most consistently funny part of SNL che and jost are great together
When they notice the jokes start bombing but the just go all in with full passion delivery and pride.

My do over is an 82 year old lady graduated from college a day after her 82nd birthday I heard the faculty passed her because her roommate died and were impressed she didn't 😅😅

The mountain lion story was real...look it up..the dogs name was Eva..had 2 skull fractures and a punctured sinus cavity. The hiker and another sprayed the lion with pepper spray to release the dog. So other than saying eaten which was a joke..the story WAS real
and does it change the outcome of your weekend now? Sorry, that part of it was real and other parts may have been a joke. But, we will call continue our Monday's as normal tomorrow, so why act like it is the end of the world just because it was real?

I think that was established. The news on the updates are real, they are just said with humorous comments. We already know of the actual incident, but I think what Michael Che solely meant about it not being real was the last part about the dog not being eaten. You could then see Colin Jost laughing hysterically and then saying an "aw" (as if aw, that did not actually happen), which I thought was a little poor for him, but I enjoy these updates every time, these guys are hilarious!

@@supershinigami1 I don't know the joke, but I'm assuming (based on how corny those old timey jokes are) that the joke is simply that you (technically) lose weight if you remove a foot, because you're lighter without that body part. At least that's what they're implying. Makes sense to me that it was once considered very funny that the patient wanted one (right) thing and the doctor did the other (wrong) thing, like 'see? problem solved'. I could be wrong though.

@@TheNewPatsyBailey not at all. a very common effect of long-term untreated or poorly treated diabetes was loss of circulation in the limbs, starting with the feet. so many diabetics would have their feet and then legs removed. you knew that once someone got to the point that they were having limbs removed, they were very likely going to die soon. so a very dark joke.
