No one does an in depth demo like Mitch Gallagher.... a true professional! Give the man a pay raise
Mitch is very high up at Sweetwater, he's the director there...So yeah, I don't think he needs a raise, he's already one of the highest paid there :D
Got it yesterday! Just awesome as always! Amplitube is the best modeler out there, today, hands down. Easy, affordable and the tones that you can get with a little bit of tweaking and knowledge of what you're doing, are simply amazing!
Nice coverage Mitch! I'd been delaying buying this plugin, but finally got it. Watching this certainly helps to get an idea of how to use it.
Great as always Mitch! I've had Amplitude 4 for awhile but not really played with it till now as I just bought the Orange collection from you guys. I didn't realize how powerful Amplitude was til now. Thanks!
Oh thank god for you guys. I just wasted a pile of time on a number of other (actually newer) reviews of A4 that didn't tell me what I needed to know. I just got the full A4 package from IK and had a few question as you can imagine. Good work Mitch and Sweetwater guys!
I like the way Mitch smoothened the distortion sound near the end of this video!
Great in-depth review as always Mitch.
Really good presentation of Amplitube 4s features.. nice job
Mitch, You really did a great in depth review. Amplitube 4's sound options are INCREDIBLE!
Thanks for Sharing.... :0)
Great review. A4 is an awesome program. Thanks Mitch.
Thank you for yor clear and concise explanations.Greetings from the Netherlands
The only thing cooler than playing around with a new cool toy like this.......is getting a good buzz and watching Mitch play around with it. 😁👍👍🖖😎
Thanks Mitch, as I am new to this soft ware full stop I had no idea how to use or setup, all I wont to do is plus in my axe and play. There's extremely little info for a person starting out I like me. With your in depth description on all formats of operation I can now go away with some confidence and understanding how this all works through a P.C - IK Multimedia wasn't any help with my inquires
Great work bud, good stuff! Love Sweetwater!
Man that sounds great. I’m still trying to figure out how to use the gear . Love it , incredible sounds and video .
The best review ever.
Very great review!!! Congratulations
That Dirty blue one tone sounds amazing !
Hi, need some help here, I've just changed my interface but with this new one I can't open amplitube 4 in standalone. It works in my DAW but when I try to open the standalone nothing happens. I haven't chosen my interface in amplitube options, maybe that might solve it but I haven't figured how to access the menu which chooses the interface. Can somebody help me..
Thank you Mitch. Always enjoy your reviews. You clearly have a solid understanding of the products you present. The quality of your voice is also easy on the ears.
What do you guys think about this vs Overloud's TH2 product (just from the perspective of amp emulation)? Most digital amp emulators have a weird thing happening in the harmonics which just doesn't sound right. This and TH2 seem to be pretty food in that regard. Thoughts?
Stupid question here..this is exactly what is included with iRig2 HD? And this can be opened as a plugin in another daw as well??
Great review, thanks!
I'm having a weird sound when i use an overdrive pedal in the stompbox section. Does anybody know what might be wrong ? The other pedals work just fine without any noise complaints...
What analo-digital interface is used before going into the computer.. Is there a sound card requiered what are the minimum demands for computer processor?...What are the recommondation of all of this s I can use Amplitube best.
How do you keep it quiet on the high gain mode and also with those pedals. I usually use the noise gate on some heavier sounds.
Great demo! You mentioned this working with your DAW. Does this work well inside of GarageBand?
I love Amplitube - Not as good as a real tube amp BUT for a fracture of the price you get a hell of a lot of tone!
+AlexStrums For playing, no, it's not as good as a real tube amp, but not everyone can record their amp well, so this opens up a world of possibility when it comes to getting decent sounds recorded.
Colin Brain I'm with you 100% on that!
I've tried almost everything I could find and personally I think Amplitube is a real underdog, if you want the meatiest thick metal tone software can provide get this product
Hey ! I bought amplitube metal a few days ago and i am totaly unable to get a great metal tone... coule you help me a bit ?
I just want to make sure, did you say you can input audio? Here's my issue, I'm currently using Reason which doesn't support VSTs. So if I could input my tracks then record the guitar part in this software, then export or bounce the guitar session into Reason that would be awesome! Please let me know, thanks
So we can have both Amp 3 AND 4 installed side by
side?
can i use amplitube 4 as a plug inn with Audacity on a mac running high seirra OS
At 4:28 the Preset Browser is shown. MOST of these presets are not simply available, you have to buy them first. Also "Preset Exchange" button is shown. There are currently NO user presets files you can download from this site for Amplitube 4. They are all for Amplitube 3 which will not open in Amplitube 4. I had no idea about these 2 things, before buying.
Is this version being demoed the one that Sweetwater sells for $499?
Do you have speakers hooked up in this demo? I can only get sound out of my passive bass, and it sounds nothing like this; the active bass is zip, zero, nada. Can't hear a damn thing.
I dont know from where the sound is coming in his setup. Guitar-ipad with A4-??
Sounds great.I am new to recording on a computer. Can you run IK Multimedia through monitors? Also would it sound any good?Is that what you are doing?Or is headphones your only option to hear what you are playing? Thanks!
It seems like you are getting a lot of questions here! Hopefully someone wouldn't mind answering one more... Is everything in the video from the stock program, or are there any of the add-ons that you buy seperately? In the trial/demo almost everything is locked and was wondering if more things are unlocked after buying it.
Excellent demo Sweetwater and diggin using this myself. Maybe cork-sniffers can tell the difference between the new British amp models in Amplitube 4 and Universal audio's official Marshall amps, but both sound pretty damn good and usable to me. I can save all of my presets and don't have to spend thousands of dollars on mic's and amps and go deaf trying to get a good sound out of the real thing. That said - what I really could use is some good Vox AC30 and country/tele clean to warm options (e.g. Beatles Nowhere Man tone). It seems like most of these products have a sea of Fizzy metal sounds for tone-tester types, but very few good sounds that could get you a nice Folsom Prison Blues, Chattahoochee, Brad Paisley tele tone (or even Sweet Home Alabama & Sultans of Swing).
+Wrekking Cru Did you try scuffham or bias fx? Best ampsim i've tried so far. And i've been around since v-amp, pod days ;)
"cork sniffers" lol good one never heard that term, but definitely noticed a lot of them blah, blah, blah complaining about how they can hear the difference.
also, yes, would agree for the need to get some Vox tubes in there, ANYWHERE!
Mitch, do any of the Marshall emulations go up to "11"?
Only soldano does that. ;)
But the big question is: Does all of the different amps, pedals, mics etc etc sound close to the real deal? If you mix up a good tone in Amplitube 4, and you go out and buy the gear to make that tone, would you then get a very close match?
It is mentioned that Amplitube 4 is not a replacement to Amplitube 3. I decided to do a Google search and could not find information on the differences and IK Multimedia's website only seems to offer Amplitube 4.
So are they products that supplement each other, or was this video simply made at a time where Amplitube 4 had not integrated all the features needed to act as a full replacement for Amplitube 3? Can someone please elaborate on this for me.
Hello Mitch. I need some help. I purchased IRig hd2.
Dealing with amplitude 4. Many features, amps, etc I see are on this. I cant find them though on amplitude. Could you give me insight on what I need to do. I would be thankful. Not much online to help here.
great video! but how did you get it to sound so clear?? I just downloaded it and it;s awful... makes a loud high pitched squeal the entire time I use it, even on clean channels.
It's possible to use this interface with IPhone Amplitube 4, Garageband ou Bias FX,
1 channel before the preamp head and 2 channel after the preamp, in the effect loop, like 4 cable method ?
Will have sound "Latency" problem ? I would like to replace my effects processor rack.
Could you make a demonstration video ?
Mitch did you use a DI box to boost your signal or did you record direct into your interface
What's the box under your monitor? Is it just some sort of preamp?
what interface do you use ? ( the red one on the table)
they plan on doing amplitube 5?
Also, thank you, Mitch.
So are the iOS and pc versions separate products? I have to buy both if I want to have it at home and on the road? Do I have to buy the iPhone and iPad apps separately as well?
Something like this could spell trouble for my guitar progression. I would spend more time playing with different tones (with no intentions other than hearing the different tones) than I would spend time actually playing my guitar!
go for it! thats music, playing with sounds, it doesn't all have to sound like a clean strat. I know what you mean though.
What monitors are you using? Great demo!
Does this have Mesa amp models in it? then what is the difference between this one and the "AmpliTube MESA/Boogie"
Hey Mitch...Your videos are way cooler than Im sure they are supposed to be. LOL.
But wanted to say congrats on the weightloss..you look great dude!
prolly the hard way...

How I can connect my guitar amp to PC?
hi great video bro , can I change the metronome sound in amplitube 4 ??
how do you export presets to save on external hd
And, can we multi out all those mics?
Awesome!
what audio interface do you have there
I bought Amplitube 4 but I can't open it after I installed and registered
I have the full amplitube app on my iPad which is great, but how do I get the legacy amp simulation? I don't see it on any options
It's not the same Amplitube, the IOS version is called Amplitube 4 but it's nowhere near the Mac/PC version. So it also does not combine with each other. The legacy amps you will have if you had Amplitube 3 on PC/Mac or if you buy Amplitube 4 with all the amps.
nagol5178 thanks for the reply and info
***** hey not everyone can afford to spend hundreds or even need to, so I'll stick with my lame mobile device amplitube app... thanks, and next time don't bother commenting if you can't bring something of value to my question
Does the plugin works with Audacity ?
Thank you.
how do i download AmpliTube on mij MacBook pro
what is the latency like?
How much ?? Also what kind of interface do I need??
I'm just a hobbyist and don't need 5k of amps. I also live in an apartment and this fine for me.
Does anyone know the answer to this question: in the mic sim section you can set the width of the two room mics.
How would this affect the common process of duplicating a guitar track and panning 1 hard left, the other hard right, etc. Would that be canceling out the width that Amplitube is creating?
Hi, Go Polaris! Thanks for reaching out! That is a really good question and something that could be fun to experiment with how it would sound. Essentially using the width in the mic sim gets you a similar result to panning a duplicated guitar hard left and right. Of course it does some other stuff with reverb and delay as it's simulating a room as well, so both sides won't be identical. I'd imagine you could get a really cool sound using 2 instances of Amplitube with the width maxed out then pan those opposite. There's not really a wrong answer until it starts to sound bad, haha!

@@sweetwater Super late response but thank you so much for the reply! I'm definitely gonna be playing with but it kind of sucks because...I thought because of this video Amplitube came with all of those amps. I purchased it and now see that I need Amplitube "Max".
I'm thinking of getting the AT4 MESA/Boogie package. Does the M/B package come with all the looper stuff in the base package?
Hey, Churchmouse144 (love the name). Yes, it does! You can loop away when you get that package. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you want to discuss it a little more. Thanks for the interest!

love the software so far, i have a question tho
whats a pedal i can get that will allow me to control my wah and volume pedal on the modeler?
+rss313 Ik multimedia has an expression pedal called a stealthpedal. if you want something more elaborate, go with for example the boss midi footcontroller
Many thanks for the excellent review.
A4 was a pig for me to get set up under Windows 10. IK Support were very patient but it took weeks just to install the StealthPedal audio interface driver. In the end it had to be installed under Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.Note that the StealthPedal is no longer sold in US. Then the StealthPedal MIDI Control software would not run properly and I still have problems. Basically, when it starts, it is minimised to the task bar and so cannot be switched on or adjusted. When it will not start up properly I have to reinstall - damned nuisance.
Hi i used Stealth Pedal now gone over to iRIG Stomp I/O EXELLENT Controller and ordered the AXE Solo Sill waiting for it to arrive du to the current problem in Italy {and the rest of our Planet}
Can i use this live?
I just got this software based on this video. It costs $200.00. It took approximately 6 minutes to download. At 4:20 does Mitch not say " The pre-sets that ARE LOADED UP INTO APLITUBE 4"? I click on these and they are not loaded. It my understanding that I have to PAY for the presets he just said came loaded in the software. How the hell am I misunderstanding his statement!
Amplitube4 is awesome
Whats the best way to record a track with Amplitube 4? Say for example in GarageBand?
+StevieGZach Good question and yet no answer is forthcoming.
How many GBs of space do I need? Im trying to find what the hard drive requirements are.
Less than 1 Gb with all the Libraries installed (that's on Mac,I suppose there'll be no much difference in a PC environment)
If we forget about all the fancy bits and pieces it comes with, basically, it is a software multi fx unit rather than a hardware one such as gt-100 etc . . . and it needs a powerful computer to work! Maybe one could record clean guitar into DAW then use this to add effects later, but then could u play the same riffs without live distortion sustain etc? Arguably a hardware multi fx box (if u don’t fancy a chain of real stomps) would be a better bet and this is somewhat of a white elephant.
Do I need also Amplitube Tube 4 (70€ Standart thing) + Mesa Boogie or Can I play only with the Mesa Boogie plug in? Would be very happy about an answere 😜💪
Thanks for reaching out, James. You do not have to get Amplitube 4 because you will receive Amplitube Custom Shop, which is Amplitube 4, but without any content. There you'll be able to load and use the expansion pack. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you want to discuss it a little more. Thanks for the interest!
Alex Campos, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (260) 247-8024 (call or text)
@@sweetwater Hey brother, actually, Amplitube Custom Shop has some free content, amps, cabs, pedals, and such,,, Likely he saw the IKM Promo sale Aug thru Sept 30th... and grabbed a bunch of good sounding gear.
can this work work an irig2?
AmpliTube is a secret weapon, but you need to fidle around with all the features, creating your own presets. Mainly because the presets that come with AmpliTube sound horrible, and I mean almost every single preset they done sounds horrible until you adjust them. But then, you can get a lot out of the tool! AmpliTube is fantastic.
So you mean you can smoothen the distortions and overdrive?
with amplitude 4 can you use a focusrite interface?
Absolutely ! Works perfectly with my scarlett 2i2 interface !
Ok so will iRig pro, AmpliTube 4, and reaper all work well together on my pc? I'm also buying ezdrummer 2, so I want to make sure I'm gonna be able to use all this smoothly. I have the worse luck after buying stuff like this. If anyone at all could answer Paleeeeease ?
...also is there something more you have to pay or unlock to get all the amps and goodies, or is buying AmpliTube 4 going to give me all that he's showing? Cause I notice there is an AmpliTube 4 deluxe. And I'm not trying to lose money on all this.
Also they have iRig pro i/o now too, so with using a pc I don't know if I need to get that instead of just iRig pro. I know, lots of questions. But can someone please enlighten me? I'm pulling my hair out
amplitube is software that carries a bunch of amp models. there are amp models sold seperately to add to amplitube. deluxe includes more models to play with.
can we use Bluetooth speaker?
I have amplitube4, and all it does is freeze my computer up. I've had it for a week and I haven't got to use one single effect yet and none of the support gives me any answers. There are no answers anywhere on the internet for this. Just questions
You most likely need more RAM. At least 16g preferably 32 for flawless operation
My Amplitube 4 standalone has a slight delay or latency. Is there any way to fix this? I tried experimenting with the buffer size but that only created artifacts or drop outs.
Hi, Jesse! Latency can certainly be caused by a handful of different things. Changing your buffer settings can certainly help, but it can also be affected by your system's performance specs, what else you have running, what interface you are using, etc. Give us a call and we can discuss your set up a little further to see how Amplitube can work most efficiently on your system!

Does Amplitude have the ability to import MP3 backing tracks to jam along with?
Hi, TJ. Thanks for your interest! In the recorder section of Amplitube you are able to import audio files to jam along to. I was able to find some good instructions on it here:

Too bad there’s no tutorial on how to set up irig stomp I/o and the I loud micro speakers..just bought both and can’t get them to work on iPad or pc ..sending it back
what audio interface works great w Amplitube 4?
Hello! Just about any interface with an instrument input will work great with Amplitube. A lot of interface compatibility has to do more with the computer you are using. Some interfaces have specific connections, and some require very specific operating systems. You should check out the Axe I/O. It has a lot of features specific to guitar and works perfectly with Amplitube:

Give us a call to discuss what system you are running and we can see which interface would be best for you!

What audio interface is the computer monitor sitting on?
Focusrite Clarett 8preX. It's my secret weapon!
+BeatzByBiz Hey thanks for the help, man!
Looks like focusrite clarett 8prex. I have the 8pre. Totally awesome!
nice ik multimedia
Sorry abput this question but What mic are you using on this video? Thx
....if you are referring to the pin Mic on his lapel, I believe it's a rode. Otherwise he is plugging his 1/4th cable right into the Focus rite audio interface.
I mean the mic he is using to speak and is in his coat. Sounds very good, and it's seems to be comfortable.
Lástima que no se puede poner en pantalla completa.
Somehow sitting on a desk chair with a guitar in front of a computer doesn’t cut it for me. I’ll take a basement, a good amp and a few good pedals any day.
My software doesnt sound anything like this , and i have a official cable ... trying to get it to work for 2 years now . and no succes . record sound is crap . even different then how it sounded when i recorded it :(
I don't understand what is the subject you are reviewing: is this Amplitube 4 OR it is Amplitube 4 DELUXE or custom/fender whaterver? What amps are REALLY included with the basic A4?
There are so many options I am confused. The website itself doesn't help a bit. Frustrating.
Thank you for your precise review, very interesting and helpful! I've learned a lot here!
Bye and have a nice day everyone
Not sure if you are still waiting for an answer, but here goes. If you buy the basic A4, all you get is a handful of amps (a couple British, a couple American clean, one bass amp) not very much. I recently purchased basic A4 on sale for 75.00 and was not yet satisfied. From this purchase I qualified for an Amplitube MAX upgrade and with some jam points, I upgraded for an additional 119.00, and with MAX, I now have ALL Orange Amps, ALL Fender Amps (not Fender 2 collection though), ALL Mesa Boogie Amps, Two SLASH Amps, and a number of others and a plethora of stomp boxes and cabs. The extra 120.00 was well worth it since buying piece by piece would cost an arm and a leg
The only thing that sucks are the latency issues you'll encounter. I always have issues and my computer is clean and has 8 GIGS of RAM.
saves me a couple of million worth of gear
Can you use this as a plugin with ableton?
Hi, Sam. Thank you for your interest! Amplitube 4 can operate as a VST or AU plugin, which would work great within Ableton! If you've got any other questions on using Amplitube with your set up, feel free to give us a call!

I have a simple question. I want to replace and eliminate my trusty old POD 2.0 and just have my MacBook to play along with my music in iTunes. Will AmpliTube 4.0 "standalone" work simultaneously with iTunes on my MacBook Air?
+teerexness No reason that it wouldn't work unless for some reason your cpu couldn't handle the workload of both which is highly unlikely since audio playback is trivial by today's cpu standards. As long as you have an interface or cable to plug in your guitar it should work.
Peetsamps Thanks! I figured it wouldn't be too much for the CPU. Good to know. Now I'm more concerned with the sound quality after downloading a demo of AmpliTube 3. Using my POD HD as a digital I/O interface, I was disappointed with a very weak input signal that quickly changed to nasty digital distortion when I play hard. Nothing sounded very convincing to my ear anyway. Maybe I was just being overly optimistic, thinking that software modeling would be as good sounding as hardware modeling? I don't know....
+teerexness Based on your description, it sounds like something must not have been set up right. Making sure your input and output levels in software and on your interface are not clipping or too low is important. I never thought amplitube sounded particularly good, but sometimes it takes a lot of tweaking to get the sound you're after. My personal favorite amp software is Revalver 4. It takes some fiddling to get an ideal tone, but it sounds the most natural to my ears. There's even some freeware that's pretty good such as Lepou or Ignite Amps or NIck Crow, but these don't have speaker emulation.
Peetsamps Yeah, still trying to figure it out. I had the iRig for my iPhone when they first came out, and strangely enough, it was exactly the same thing. Quiet and no headroom. Sounded like an AM radio. I don't see where AmpliTube has any global I/O level settings. It seems to be specific to each preset, which makes auditioning sounds extremely tedious. Maybe I'll check out Revalver. And BTW, I appreciate your help!
+teerexness Something isn't right. I have an HD500, I am totally unbiased on this issue. Amplitube blows it away by a long shot. I'm not sure what could be happening. Using the Pod should work as an interface, however I have never used mine as an interface. I do use it as a midi controller for amplitube. I have quit using the HD500 at all. The amplitube amps, especially the new ones, really do sound a lot like the real thing, especially recorded. It should let you demo amps that you have to pay money for, pull up an Engl powerball with an orange 4x12 and mess with the mics, sm57 and a condenser. If it sounds real thin, no headroom, like AM radio something is certainly going wrong. A lot of people online are biased and I know this type of comment sounds like that but I am not. I don't care about who makes the gear or what it is, I just want the best I can get. I have a very nice live rig which I barely even touch since Amplitube has really changed everything. I have no idea why the line 6 isn't better than it is. I think plug ins using your CPU and sound card is getting more advanced than the board they put in the hardware modelers like the HD. I use the Engl Powerball with the orange cabinet for most of my tones, for the clean channel I use the Fender Twin with the Fender twin cab. I go into the HD500 midi control software to route all the midi channels to amplitube. So I can use the wah, change amps, etc.
Do you need any programs, other than the Custom Shop, to use Amplitube 4? I downloaded Amplitube 3 multiple times, but it never worked, so I don't want that to happen if I buy Amplitube 4.
+rama1234ish No other software is required! Thanks, Mitch
I bought Amp4 and I can't get it to work, could you help me with that?
What is the problem? Have you got the plugin installed?
which plugin? I have custom shop
Well the custom shop is just where you buy upgrades from. You need to install the actual amplitube guitar plugin itself as well I'm pretty sure.
