Got a Buzz Cargo on order, got to say - for the same price, not a single other electric van comes close in terms of creature comforts, range nor charging speed at all. Neither do they look as good as this 😆
I recently took my model 3 performance to Le Mans and was amazed how much I got in it. 4 blokes, 4 tents, chairs, holdalls etc. it just swallowed it all up. Way more practical than a saloon should be. Also being so torquey, you don’t feel any weight difference. It still rips your face off out of toll booths 😂😂
Like many , I love the design of the IDBuzz, but the lack of rear passenger windows, the waiting list and the £70,000 means that I would never even consider one.
The next generation buzz will probably be brilliant! Better UI, better charging and motors, camp- and dog mode, sunroof, front bench, slidable back bench, flat floor with rails.
It may have been a bit of fun but this review was one of the most useful I've seen! I'm waiting to see what the LWB version looks like but given the price of this I think it's going to be very silly money, so another Tesla on a lease for a few years until VW sort themselves out.
Agree a Taycan or a Model S can cope with family situations and in my model s have taken double mattresses to the recycling centre etc etc. However still would love the long wheel base Buzz and then kit it out as a small home
Another great and entertaining video. Even enjoyed watching the roger, "mini tornado". Disappointed you didn't pull out the kitchen sink, four motor cycles and an extending ladder, etc..
Model y with roof bars! Kayak on the roof. Lie down inside the car. Romance mode. Films. Great comfort. Better range. Fast. I have a T6 van and it’s seriously overpriced for what it is. The ID buzz is even more daft. My MY is excellent. No complaints.
VW ID. BUZZ - body put on VW ID.4 result below expectation 1. cargo space is worse than in Honda City - you got hill inside 2. front wind shield is to to short so you cannot see traffic light on crossing without making huge space upfront PS: For the same price I would go for Tycan as family car
No reason it should cost that much. It's an ID.4 with a boxier appearance and a bigger battery. Maybe Chinese auto makers should take aim at this segment and sell something cheaper.
Busy stuffing my Model Y for a camping trip today, amazed that it holds more than my 5 series estate did! 70k is a lot of dough, I mean it looks awesome, but you could buy an awesome camper van (diesel) and a nearly new model 3 and still come out ahead…
Did mention the Porche is actually longer? (And the same width - not the mm don't care) We didn't go for the Porche because it's such a poor use of space, I figured it'd be 10cm narrower but it doesn't really fit down the road we live which is.. awkward
My father had a 7 seater camper van back in the seventies. Love the VW i.d. Buzz. Brings back memories. That said, for the same money would buy the Porsche.
I love the Buzz, but the interior could have been so much more flexible. Not even 3 way folding seats, or the ability to slide stuff under the seats. Just look at the number of converted VW Transporters down at Mudeford Quay, there’s definitely a market.
Love the looks of the Buzz and that’s what will sell it - I imagine demand will be huge even at the ridiculous prices VW want for it. However on all other measures it’s bottom is spanked particularly on range but I don’t think it will matter. It looks cool and in the volumes VW are making it will be sold out. I’d take a Model Y long range instead and save £15K.
Does the buzz not have a split tailgate like the eqv? On my eqv with that rear window open and the rear seats folded flat you could easily strap a kayak down. I have had 5metre rolls of carpet there happily
That’s a handy feature in the eqv. And unlike eqv you cannot move seats around or take them out. I really enjoyed my time with eqv and even camped in it for a week. There’s a video about that on our channel!
I apologise to the iD buzz owner the first time I see one parked in the flesh as I’ll be walking round it 😂, absolutely love it and I’ve never owned a VW or a VW fan apart for the original Mk1 Golf GTI. Absolutely the price is scary but it looks fun and so usable. The other is a Porsche and is more driver focused. If you want a beach camping holiday absolutely the Van but if your touring the highlands of Scotland at hotels or B&B’s the Porsche every day of the week - personal preference like.
Porche Taycan = Mary Poppins' handbag!😄 Your idea for a bed/kitchen under in the van, been done mate, seen it somewhere, no idea where mind😅 Enjoyed it, cheers lovely to see you making the most of Bournemouth in the sunshine.👍😄
Great fun video Richard, couple of observations; it’s abit harsh comparing the outside space of the Taycan with the inside space of the Buzz, also why does Mrs Symons drive an ID3 and not a Tesla? Sounds like Taycans are becoming more affordable, is it time to do a video on a secondhand Taycan vs a new Model Y Performance?
The ID app is limited but functional. You can see your current SOC, set cabin temperature and departure times and see the vehicles state of health and location.
Isn't that two tone colour scheme an eye wateringly expensive option, without it this just looks like a van. It looks more like the modern VW vans than the classic camper style VWs to me.
I've got an EQV, it's massive compared to the ID buzz, even the long range one. I'm hoping that the new Ford Tourneau EV is going to be bigger than the ID buzz.
I love the ID Buzz. Could never buy it over the Porsche at the same price. But I’d buy the Model Y as it is better software and the charging network, save 10k-25k and has about the same space as the Buzz and, depending on the model, better performance han the Taycan….
Richard mate , how can you compare this to a sports car just on the price. Ones for families, the other is for a singe yuppy with money coming out of his ears. Come on mate let’s be reasonable here. Except for the price I see no comparison.
70k and no powered tailgate and sliding doors. It would've been a better comparison to a similarly priced Model S. Longer range, large boot and frunk, roof rack.
If anything I find Richard to be a little anti-Tesla ! The truth is that they demolish all competition, but that wouldn’t be a good “stance “ for his business. Richard does tend to give the “also-rans” a bigger pat on the back than they deserve.
I definitely don’t see him as anti Tesla,it’s where he cut his teeth with electric cars, and he still loves them, maybe, just maybe, other evs have passed them out regarding comfort and service availability,I can’t say,I’ve never owned a Tesla, but I’ve put 70k on an id3 and currently have 30k on an id4 without any issues,I am just happy to see anyone driving an ev,especially with solar and almost free home charging, what brand it is doesn’t mean anything to me tbh,I wouldn’t knock any ev atm because they all have their good points, and I own a motor factors,I’m hoping none of them need spare parts so I can retire in the next ten years or so🤣
VW. £70k. Piss poor range/performance/software.. No thanks VW.. you have built a Dodo! Just buy a T5 if you need a VW Van.. and buy a Tesla Y with the money you just saved👍
What on Earth is this “non review” that turns into a review. And a petrol powered kawak? I don’t think you can legally store more than 10 litres at home in a plastic vessel anyway…
It's a van. If you need one OK, But it's hell ugly as all vans are. It's trying to be a modern VW camper van, looks like one, just needs some Ban the Bomb signs, Flower Power, and make love not war slogans on it. Today they would be Stop Oil logos. Hideous.
Got a Buzz Cargo on order, got to say - for the same price, not a single other electric van comes close in terms of creature comforts, range nor charging speed at all. Neither do they look as good as this 😆
Also got a cargo on order, delivery not till September! Looking forward to it, not seen many on the road yet

Manage more than 10 laps before a recharge ?
Yes but did you find any charging stations on the camp site
I think the Buzz looks awesome! So unfortunate for those who like to kayak, they have to buy a Porsche instead 😄
Would love one of these but £70k! No power doors! Wowzers!
yer 70k, its too much. i would say they look better than the taycan
Power doors are an option, and at the £70K end would be included. This was just the 1st Edition which is always a bit of a strange spec.
Like many , I love the design of the IDBuzz, but the lack of rear passenger windows, the waiting list and the £70,000 means that I would never even consider one.

Hi Richard and the team thanks for the great videos from Perth WA.
Come on we all know most of us would sell the kids and buy the Taycan 😂
That tailgate is MASSIVE - imagine it would be ‘fun’ in a car park…
Wow, that mini tornado 🌪️😂
Model y with roof bars! Kayak on the roof. Lie down inside the car. Romance mode. Films. Great comfort. Better range. Fast. I have a T6 van and it’s seriously overpriced for what it is. The ID buzz is even more daft. My MY is excellent. No complaints.
VW ID. BUZZ - body put on VW ID.4
result below expectation
1. cargo space is worse than in Honda City - you got hill inside
2. front wind shield is to to short so you cannot see traffic light on crossing without making huge space upfront

Buzz LWB will the winner. Taycan Cross Turismo is stunning & I prefer it to the regular sedan, the boot opening on the sedan is poor.
Sun and beer = best review of the year ☀️ + 🍺 = 😎😎😎
If it's 70k in the UK, I'd hate to see what it will cost here in Canada. No way it will be affordable to a normal family.
Loved the loading the kayak into the ID buzz- agree taycan more practical!!
One of the best videos I've seen and like you I think the Porsche is practical.😂❤
I love the Buzz, but the interior could have been so much more flexible. Not even 3 way folding seats, or the ability to slide stuff under the seats. Just look at the number of converted VW Transporters down at Mudeford Quay, there’s definitely a market.

Is there not a safety risk, carrying fuel in the frunk? I would have thought that that was a crumple zone?
Does the buzz not have a split tailgate like the eqv? On my eqv with that rear window open and the rear seats folded flat you could easily strap a kayak down. I have had 5metre rolls of carpet there happily

70K for the Buzz is astronomical and the range isn't too great either from what i've heard from a genuine VW salesman!!!
Simple. Can I get my two Golden Retrievers and my 6 foot son into the Porsche? No. I’d Buzz wins straight away.
I apologise to the iD buzz owner the first time I see one parked in the flesh as I’ll be walking round it 😂, absolutely love it and I’ve never owned a VW or a VW fan apart for the original Mk1 Golf GTI. How is the app? My Seat Mii app and car connection/controlling is terrible. Doesn’t work properly to many times.
The ID app is limited but functional. You can see your current SOC, set cabin temperature and departure times and see the vehicles state of health and location.
It’s crap that there’s no opening rear windows though. I note the lwb USA variant has got slide opening sliding door windows
We have the same variant. In fact we have more. The LWB is coming here too.
I love the look of the iD Buzz, but some bits are reminding me of my 64 plate Touran 😬 but if I had the money I’d probably still have one
Who else noticed the Buzz Mini Me, aka a Smart in similar colours?!
Like the parking charges at Christchurch harbour - doesn't come cheap.
Great vlog. Love the buzz but to me way overpriced. Pity. Lovely location to film it too. Best wishes
I’m looking forward to the Tesla Bus…….
Jesus how for the idBuzz! Seems pretty basic too! I’d take a model Y performance or taycan over a 70k van thanks! 😮
Salt water in the roof of a Taycan?? 😬
I love the ID Buzz. Could never buy it over the Porsche at the same price.
But I’d buy the Model Y as it is better software and the charging network, save 10k-25k and has about the same space as the Buzz and, depending on the model, better performance han the Taycan….
70k!!! I get the feeling that you want to sell the Buzz hence all the unrealistic comments, or were you sponsored by the VW Group?
Buzz must look awesome if you are still living in the 1960's.
I've been watching (The Electric Viking)
Richard, how about a Teals Model Y LR with roof bars or a tow bar and a DeBon trailer for all your canoes/ bikes & camping clobber?
An EV with a roof rack that kind of smells of range anxiety especially in a car not exactly top of the range game.
I’d buy the Taycan. The Buzz is way overpriced for what it is.
The VW ID. BUZZ is an absolute game-changer!
not at its current price.
Agreed, too expensive and not enough real world range.
Hello mate
70k quids? WTH?
Yeah toys for the rich not your average person like most EV's really.
70k for a panel van lol
Well, I don't regret that I bought a Model Y 9 months ago, the Buzz was not worth waiting for
Even in another 9 months time, you’ll still be enjoying it.
Richard mate , how can you compare this to a sports car just on the price. Ones for families, the other is for a singe yuppy with money coming out of his ears. Come on mate let’s be reasonable here. Except for the price I see no comparison.
Really not that practical, all us transporter people are a bit disappointed
70k and no powered tailgate and sliding doors. It would've been a better comparison to a similarly priced Model S. Longer range, large boot and frunk, roof rack.
but model s is boring…
@@binflydushy and the Taycan isn't?
The 70k is a guesstimate for the long wheel base version. They do have powered tailgates and power sliding doors, but not on the 1st Edition.
Why would I buy a Model S when the new version isn't even coming here. The older models are awful inside.
@@JohnnyZenith personal opinion is yours to keep.
Just wonder if the Buzz had, had a Tesla badge, what would this review have been like . . .
What do you mean?
If anything I find Richard to be a little anti-Tesla !
The truth is that they demolish all competition, but that wouldn’t be a good “stance “ for his business. Richard does tend to give the “also-rans” a bigger pat on the back than they deserve.

VW.
Don’t go in the water! There’s shit 💩 in there
It's a van. If you need one OK, But it's hell ugly as all vans are. It's trying to be a modern VW camper van, looks like one, just needs some Ban the Bomb signs, Flower Power, and make love not war slogans on it. Today they would be Stop Oil logos. Hideous.
Too expensive, too little range and power but its desirable for sure!
