I wish they still made window fans like this instead of the plastic piles of crap that barely move any air they make today. What a great fan and good job restoring it.
Me too!! Then again, if they still made ones this good the older fans like these would definitely have a lot less value so maybe it's a trade off lol. Thanks Ryan! Appreciate you stopping by!
I'm not specifically interested in vintage fans but I love to see niche communities of people sharing their hobbies and passions. Really cool to see and an interesting watch. Thanks for posting.
I had a fan like that I picked up at an estate sale, but the fan didn't flip to change air direction. Mine oscillated. It was super cool. A friend saw it and loved it, so I gave it to him. That Venturi is correct..... thats why those fans move so much air.
Ohh interesting! I didn't know that Vornado had oscillating models! Yea the guy that designed these took inspiration from the recently created jet engine and based some of his design around that design. They are definitely serious air movers for sure!! Thanks for Watching!
@@colin_5839 Next time I'm at his place.... if I remember.... I'll get some video of it running. He's a few hours away, so I don't know when I'll see him next, so I emailed him to take some video of it and send it to me..... IF he knows how.
I’m amazed that someone tossed out a fan like this. Great work with the servicing! I see that you’ve adopted Jordan’s high-tech toilet paper wind tester lol.
Vornado fans are awesome. I have a collection of vintage and newer. In fact I have this same model of window fan. The old ones were definitely built to last, most need only a quick clean and oiling to run like new. I recently found your channel and like watching you working on fans. Thank you.
They made some very nice stuff back in the day! I don't care for their modern stuff much but I do give them credit for hanging on to a very similar design all these years as they tend to be some of the better of the modern shit we have today from what I've seen! Glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for Watching!
Best rehab of that model ever! You are so confident in making substitutions for out of production parts. “Lane S.” had the idea of gluing a smaller grommet inside the original but I think your idea will catch on. Thankfully today’s models weigh a fraction of that thing.
Thanks Mike!!! Sometimes you gotta make due with whatcha got!! Definitely been holding up well too as I've had this fan in almost constant use since August in my college apartment! HAHA! This thing actually isn't so bad in terms of weight, but new ones are definitely lighter. However, they don't work anywhere nearly as well as this one and definitely wont last nearly as long either! I'd much prefer old and heavy to new and crappy! Thanks for Watching!!
That was a "fan"tastic video Colin!😁 all jokes aside very interesting fan being window mounted one. I'm starting to like these vintage fans more and more lol.( I don't need another hobby 🤣)
HAHA! Sooooo original Topher... 🤣 Yea they are definitely interesting fans! They work well too! :) Well just because you don't need another hobby doesn't mean you cant get a few to use! You don't need to be me and end up with like 75 of them LOL! Thanks for Watching Buddy!
@@colin_5839 well I could have said something boring and generic lol, but I suppose you are right about just getting a couple but...they would have to be rather old and I know that equals expensive lol 😂. And no problem we love watching your videos weather it's engine related or fans or whatever you decide to get up to lol.
@@tophercragg4812 This is true! Also old doesn't necessarily mean expensive with fans, it more depends on what it is and the condition it's in. Sure if its a really collectible early brass fan it might run you a few bucks but you can find plenty of fans from the 20s through 50 and 60s for next to nothing. I think out of my entire collection there are only like 2-5 fans I spent over 100 bucks on. Hey same goes for you! Always cool to see what you are up to! :)
Yea I have a magnetic screw tray, but what fun is that?? LOL! I've actually had really good luck with not loosing screws, but I'm sure your bench is a little more chaotic than mine is... Thanks for Watching Zack!
Just found your channel, and I enjoy watching your work.. My grandmother had one of these fans, except hers had twin fans, but like so many things it disappeared over the years... Thx for sharing your skills and time with us... Would you possibly be living in Canada? I've had lots of videos lately from people living in Canada.. Some very talented people up that way... Take care...
You can tell it's old because there's no mention on the product label @ 2:04 about it's use being unlawful if it's being used as a "hands free" panty removal device.
Every day I'm just baffled by what people throw out. Would've been a damn shame if that ended up in the landfill! Beautiful resurrection!
Same here! But then again, I can't really complain too much as most of my collection has come from trash picking fans lol! Thanks for Watching!

What a beauty! BTW I think those Vornado grille emblems were gold from the factory like that
Thanks Alex! Yea I think that emblem is original! Even has a Vornado fan in the center of it which is super cool! Thanks for Watching!
Great video Colin. I wondered why coils were varnished and in some cases flooded with a wax . Now I know 😎😎
Thanks Paul! Glad I could explain that for ya! Thanks for Watching!
Glad you got this window fan revived good job
Thanks Luis!
I got it be of these. Great fans. Use it every night during the summer. Glad you got it running nicely again
They sure are! Been in constant use for several months now and it's great! Thanks for Watching!

You should have checked the amp draw before refirb to see how much it improved.
I don't know how much the amp draw would tell you to be honest, but I'll consider trying it going forward!

Hahahahha!
Are you anywhere near Atlanta? I could use some help with a similar model that is single speed!
I'm currently attending school in Massachusetts so unfortunately I'm quite far. Happy to answer any questions though! Thanks for Watching!
the blades kinda look like a boat propeller
Hahaha yeah they kinda do! Thanks for watching!
Can we trade Some fan.
To be honest I don't really do much trading, but out of curiosity what do you have?
A 12 inch Panasonic.
or maybe a 8"dominin
