I am definitely a fan. A desperate cat came to my back porch last year. It didn't look like much, but my other cats seemed to have no problem with my letting it in. Long story short, a year later, the vet informed me that the cat I thought was a female was in fact a neutered male. When I thought he was a she.. I thought she was a Maine Coon.. especially since I live in Michigan.. not all that far away. But HE continues to have more and more Norwegian Forest Cat traits.. despite the odds being in favor of a Maine Coon. No ear tips.. but the double fur and gentle nature and a purr so soft that I almost have to feel it rather than hear it.. soft spoken and gets along with everyone.. even at the food dish. These two cats are almost alike. Ouija is 11 1/2 lbs. of love.
We have been maine coon owners since 1997 and on our third one Bogie he's 29 lbs and black and white and a multi toed and very friendly and talk's all the time.😸😸😸😸😸😸

I have the feeling my tabby cat is mix with maine coon. Hes got a long fluffy tail and mane, and has made those funny trilling noises since he was a baby and talks to me all the time. Hes also generally just way bigger than his sister who is the same age. Also guards me every time I go to the bathroom. He's unlike any other cat I've had as I feel like he speaks to me through his eyes.

This is like a God's story my Persian cat died October 29th 22 prior to that I've always told everyone that my next cat will be a Maine coon my Persian cat lives at 21 years old I loved her dearly and I still do God-bless me with the main coon hes 4 years old this elderly lady could not take care of him anymore and why aren't he was given to me on November 8th and let me tell you what a sweetie pie this cat is although Lucy was wonderful this little Teddy bear is amazing he talks hes so smart and really it was a blessing from god

They can do alright as long as they’re allowed inside during the hottest part of the day, air conditioning or fans are a must for these cats. They definitely prefer cold weather but it’s not crucial; Maine Coons are kept in all different kinds of climates, but most are kept as indoor only or only allowed outside on a harness or a screened in patio. Most people keep them as indoor cats only because they’re an expensive breed and at a higher risk of being stolen. I’m in Northern California where it does get hot during the summer but it’s not humid like your weather in Alabama, my Maine Coon stays inside 90% of the time in summer. They have such thick fur that in hot climates owners have to take them to a groomer who can thin the coat out a bit. They’re the greatest cats ever, good luck! 👍

It's been my experience that the Maine Coon is about the biggest a cat can be before they become dangerous. I mean, like, deadly dangerous.
I completely agree with this - my black cat Reginald is so huge that I'm grateful he's a domesticated cat. Because honestly, at 23 pounds and solid muscle and huge feet, he could do some serious damage if he wanted to.
