Excellent initiative by the IOC to bring more current sports to the Olympics. The event has a lot to gain from this, mainly in terms of new audiences and interest from different age groups.
While boxing is threatened on its Olympic spot, speed inline skating and chess do fight for its Olympic recognition, E-sport and breakdancing were graced with an Olympic spot. Just mind blowing.
Yeah it's a disgrace that this is an Olympic sport and for example inline speed skating that it's a real sport and very entertaining it's not Olympic, what a joke the Olympic organization is
Blessings from Uhland, Texas. I hope to be there with my family, high school and college friends to celebrate an important sports event and ceremony. Athletism is a great form to stay active, healthy in order to enjoy life to its fullest. Have a great, spectacular, and wonderful day.
Yeah but if you can improvise well enough to stay within the beat and groove, called "being in the pocket" or demonstrating "musicality", you get extra points. It's not enough to just do random moves while a song is playing.
I know there is Dance sport where tango, cha-cha, boogie, salsa , swing etc. being held at some games like 2019 Southeast Asian games, but for Olympics grace a spot for break dancing as sport even before Pair Dance sport is quite mind blowing.
I mean you can think of this as a gymnastics short routine with baggy clothes. It still requires flexibility, cardio, upper and lower body strength and artistry.
@@edvelociraptor1794 and improvising to music they haven't chosen!! So it can't really be compared to a memorised and rehearsed routine, they're thinking on the spot. This "sport", artform rather, takes incredible strength, flexibility but also cognitive fluency and mindfulness and takes the same amount of training, discipline and persistence as any other sport. It's beautiful. Someone asked me last year if I was watching the Olympics and I said I prefer to watch dancers because there's also creative expression along with athleticism.
They are concerned about drugs. And at least as far as weightlifting, they won't admit it but the trans were tainting the sport. Boxing was one of the originals, from the ancient Greeks, so it'll have to come back. Modern pentathlon just sort of aged out of being a sport though. Soldiers don't train that way anymore. This one and other E-things should really be put in the winter sports though since the Summer program is full. You play on a computer, that's indoors. Most dancing is indoors even if breaking was traditionally a street thing.
How is that a "sport" in the Olympics and there are other real sports that are not on the Olympics, for example inline speed skating that it's a real sport, can't believe this from Olympics organization
What constitutes as a "real sport" to you? Because dancing takes the same level of training, discipline and persistence as any other sport and requires intense strength and flexibility. It's also competitive as dance battles are happening all the time before the Olympics added it. On top of all of that dancers have to improvise on the spot to music they haven't chosen and try to stay within the beat and groove of the track, which takes incredible mindfulness and cognitive skill. Show me any gymnastics routine improvised on the spot to a song they've never heard of. Educate yourself on a sport or artform before you go judging it. Learn about how the judges score the sport and you might just learn something about the sport.
Curling is a sport. At least here you can think of it as like gymnastics. It requires cardio, uper and lower body strength, and some artistry rolled in
@@edvelociraptor1794 Yeah! Dancers are athletes with creative expression AND they have to improvise on the spot to whatever music the DJ chooses without their knowledge. They train just as hard as gymnasts. Look to the history of Breaking and you'll see gymnastics was a part of it.
Begins at 45:00
Thanks!
Thanks!!

I'm sure there's a politician you can reach to about this.....

I'm excited for breaking at Paris 2024. But it'll be the teenagers I'll be rooting for.
Black American culture on the world stage I hope Team USA doesn't mess up
👉 The Roots is not African. it is Foundational Black American, the creators of Hip Hop and Breakdancing Coulture. Proper credit should be given. 🙏
They need to bring pole dancing arts to the Olympics.
I wanted to see sunny compete since she was on the thumbnail, big click bait.
I wonder if they're gonna add more dance styles to the olympics in the following years?
Yo there was nothing Hip Hop about that opening...😂
PARIS IS HOSTING THE OLYMPICS, AND IT IS THE ONLY TIME YOU BREAKDANCE.
Commentators please less talking over the judges performances. We are missing out on the event.
You can break dance to any song 😮

Chakib is the actual real winner 👏

I won't judge it by this. This is the bottom of the Olympic competitors in this sport.

Welp…the Olympics just died…😂 not to mention that they’re removing boxing weightlifting and the pentathlon in 2028.

this way of break dance judgment is OFF, the first round proves that.

Looks like the typical people at a breaking event
This over baseball is mind-boggling
Yeah...um, no.
