Once, when I was a boy, I saw my sister chasing a rattlesnake in our yard. I told my dad, who was at the grill. Very quickly, everyone was running into the other yard, grabbing my sister and running back to check her out and make sure she was okay. Most of the people saw the snake and have very in-depth explanations of how the snake was sitting relative to her, what it looked like and how big it was. The only issue? I was seven and made the whole thing up, but this was the early 90s and people tend to create memories based on stories, not what they actually saw. To this day, I've tried quite a few times to convince my family that I made it up, but they all swear they saw the snake and that I was the one making it up.

The thing to remember is that water always follows the path towards the lowest point it can reach and fills any space it goes into. Once, we had a leak under our kitchen sink, and we could trace the water's path through the floor joists as it left perfect 90 degree lines on the downstairs ceiling, through what would be three different rooms, before finally coming out of the unfinished ceiling in the basement. My point being, even if the pipes were in the back of the house, a leak could have sent water through the ceiling until it found a way out through the ceiling in the living room, which wasn't waterproofed because the pipes were in the back of the house.
As for the gravity defying, the water coming out of the ceiling could have also been leaking into the space between the walls. As it pooled at the bottom, it started soaking through the drywall from the bottom up, creating the illusion of water raising up the walls inside the living room.
As for the restaurant and the jail, winter and early spring are the worst times of year for pipes to burst due to chances in temperature and pressure, and it was just coincidence and conformation bias that Don Decker happened to be in three places where it happened. What no one reporting on the story ever bothers to mention or even investigate is how many other burst pipes there were in or around the area at the time, because again, depending on the time of year, it can go from coincidence to almost certainty, like claiming this one guy who goes to California once a year in August is the reason the forest keeps catching on fire, or for a real life example, look at the turn-of-the-century con-artist who would convince towns during droughts to pay him for his amazing cloud seeding technology. Thing is he would finish construction on his towers and start the process in late December, just before the rain season in January and February. I won't spoil the, I hesitate to say hilarious due to the lose of life and destruction of property involved, ending to his story because it could be an interesting topic for one of Simon's channels, assuming he hasn't covered it already.
The rest can be chalked up to mass hysteria, exaggerations, or flat out lies or, most likely, some combination of the three.

    • @Ur2ez4me81
      @Ur2ez4me81 10 месяцев назад

Did you even think about what you posted here?
First of all, pipes that break from freezing are usually in the basement of one’s home not above the first floor 🤦 where it’s usually above freezing lol. It’s usually the customers service line that freezes before it goes into the home which is in the basement. Yes it can happen further down the lines but probably not the case here at all. I just can’t imagine Bob & his landlord being that oblivious to the point where they would just allow water to continue to leak from a broken pipe which was cause so much damage & potentially be a fire / electrical hazard to go on for several days…
You’re argument about the illusion of water running up the wall has nothing to do with what witnesses actually saw. They clearly stated that droplets could be seen coming up from the floor & going up into the ceiling. Meaning that the witness in this statement never mentioned a wall period. Both officers / witnesses saw this rain travel in multiple trajectories as well with one being described as shooting through the house.
You also didn’t mention that after the police chief came out to visit & told officers not to return they did anyhow the following day & they not only saw it began to rain in a room that was isolated from the main downstairs living room (where most of the rain was happening) but they also saw Don levitated & was thrown several feet backwards. There were two instances where Don somehow lifted off of the ground & was violently thrown several feet.
The pastor that prayed over Don while he was serving the rest of his sentence stated that right after Decker announced that he could make it rain it began to mist inside the room they were in.
So Don Decker was able to cause some sort of mist / rain inside of Bob’s house, the pizzeria, Bobs house several more times. Inside of his jail cell & in a location within the prison with the pastor.
I could see if it was just one occasion at the same time & place but I’m not buying you’re theory…

Eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable. I saw an experiment once where a person led a group of people on a hike in the woods and had set up some police tape and a few props and had someone appear and tell the hikers to move along. The hikers all started hypothesizing about what was happening amongst themselves. Later, the hikers were interviewed about what they’d seen and almost all of them had “filled in the blanks” in their own minds and had stated they had seen things or witnessed occurrences that had never happened.

I have an explanation, sort of. I was living in a rented house, and the tenancy agreement stated I was not to monkey about with electric, gas, plumbing etc. After a few months I wanted a brighter light in the kitchen and got my son, who was only young, to ask how it was done and then put it up for me. He did and completely buggered the electrics. When you turned the light on in the kitchen, the front room light would glow eerily. Nothing else for it, I called the agent for help. They said they would send an electrician, but I better not have done something. Indeed I had so, I thought up a story of the house being haunted, lights flickering, the whole 9 yards. I didnt care if he believed it, he just had to believe I did. As it turned out, I scared the crap out of him. He fixed the light and got out as fast as he could, pale and shaken.
Could it have been something similar? I mean, demons..lol, I'd have thought a demon or devil would have more powers than just leaky ceilings, given that us mere motals can be serial killers.

One time we were at a friends house by the name of Debbie Zigafuese and at the time her husband Carl was a truck driver.
Deb as we called her use to collect plates from different states that her husband been to on the road, One day we were all at Debs as we were all gathered there on the weekends for cook outs , Donnie Decker kept on telling Deb to go look on her bed at the plate of the state of Maine and she told Don "DECKER, KNOCK IT THE HELL OFF!" this happened a few times and Don would reply
    "Deb I cant control it".
Later that night she received a phone from the Maine STATE POLICE that her husband had been in a horrible trucking accident .

I have a rational explanation for the indoor rain. First, I will tell you a short anecdote, then a description of what happened, then how it relates to Don Decker.
Back in 2011, I moved into a new home in Montana. It was terribly drafty because the seals around the windows and doors had all decayed so air freely moved in and out of the house. As winter approached, I tightly sealed all the windows and doors. That winter, my girlfriend and I woke up because it was raining on us. The drops were very fine, and when they fell, they would catch the light coming in the windows and look very strange. We called the landlord out, who said there were no pipes in the ceiling. It was mysteriously raining inside.
Here's what had happened. First, it's essential to note warm air can hold more water vapor than cold air. The home was incredibly poorly ventilated, and when I sealed off all the windows and doors, there was no way for air to move in and out of the house, i.e., no fans in the bathroom or kitchen that vented to the outside. During the day times or warmer periods, water would evaporate in the house from pet food bowls, showers, cooking, etc. With nowhere to go, all that water stayed in the air. Then whenever the home would cool down, all that water vapor would condense on the walls and ceiling. When cold fronts moved in, it would literally rain inside the house. To solve the problem, we kept a window cracked until we could install a dehumidifier that literally pulled liters of water a day out of the air.
I think poor ventilation is a good explanation for Don's first and second rain incidents indoors. While it is strange that no one noticed this phenomenon before it could just be that the home and restaurant had unusually poor ventilation that day. Plus, it was February, so it's very possible winter weather resulted in the house and restaurant being cooler than normal, thus causing water to condense and making it rain inside. Another explanation could be I trapped the water demon in my home in Montana. He obviously escaped when I opened the window. He was also afraid of the dehumidifier because he never came back.

My favorite conversation between a skeptic and a believer of ghosts where the skeptic totally made the believer have to concede at least for the moment was something like:
So if ghosts are real then why aren't there caveman ghosts, dinosaur ghosts, or single celled ghosts... is there a point at which a lifeform evolves the ability to become/leave a ghost after they die?

Archaeologists and historians would be all over it if ghosts were real. Think of all the dead languages and unreadable scripts and lost books and in general answers to historical questions we could have access to if we could talk to ghosts of the ancients. Get some Assyriologists out there with a cuneiform Ouija board and find out how the Bronze Age Collapse actually happened. Get Emperor Claudius to teach us Etruscan if we can't find any Etruscans to do it. Hang out in the Indus River Valley until some ghost tells us how to read their seals. Do the same with Peruvian khipus! Damn, I'm getting way too hyped about something that is not at all possible.

Basically every "real life" haunting or ghost account I've ever heard have been either 19th or 20th century people, with a scattered handful going back maybe a few centuries earlier. It's not like Pompeii or the Colosseum are widely considered to be ghost hot-spots, despite being places where hundreds of people died violently and traumatically. Hell, people talk about Egyptian tombs being "cursed" but none of them seem to be specifically "haunted". Every "real" ghost story I've ever heard _coincidentally_ involves ghosts who would have spoken a more-or-less modern living language, even given the variety of dead languages that are still comprehensible by scholars. But yes, the James Randi challenge was that he would award $1,000,000 to anyone who could demonstrate paranormal phenomena of any sort -- ghosts would have been acceptable -- under controlled conditions. As it happened, establishing effective controls was always a big problem. Few of the applicants even seemed to understand what that meant, or about the importance of quantifiable results. Having gotten to that stage though, there would first be a preliminary trial where applicants would attempt to demonstrate their phenomena under less stringent controls. Not one ever succeeded, so no final trials were ever conducted and the money was never awarded.

It's a fairly frequent occurrence on episodes of Decoding the Unknown where I hear a sequence of words that would make a great name for a band.
    This episode's contribution?
    "Cash Register Crucifix"
I look forward to hearing the first hit song of the new group Cash Register Crucifix, abbreviated as CRC and hopefully not confused with CCR in internet search queries, although if the search engine were to autocorrect CRC to CCR, you just might get some very topical song titles such as "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" and "Who'll Stop The Rain?".
Of course if that does happen, then Simon will have to do an episode of Decoding the Unknown about how searching for the abbreviation of the name of a band that was inspired by his video about a man who could make it rain indoors suddenly brings up songs about rain, possibly because a demon is taking over people's keyboards and changing the order of the letters they were searching for.
    Or not.
    Cheers!
