9 years old and more relevant to me than the OEM white papers. Thank you
I like that you laid everything out on the ground. It's much easier to look at.
This is the best HID kit installation with relay harness that I've seen on RUclips. Thanks bud!
Excellent explanation! Concise and straight to the point on how to everything hooks up. Great description, especially when laid out.
TIP: For anyone with this kit or similar and is still having issues after wiring it like the video here is a fix. Plug the pins into the connector just as it shows in the video. When you plug the connector into the red part on the ballast just flip them around on both of them. Mine actually had a positive and a negative mark on each one to match them up. So you’ll want the positive side to go into negative slot and the negative side to go into the positive side if that makes sense. Many hours of frustration and this is what finally got mine to work correctly.
No matter what I do to mine they remain dim, they start up really bright then within a second return to a dim state, does this mean my 12v current isn't strong enough?
Awesome instructions....my surprise was when I saw the nissan badge...I got a 2011 max and the engine compartment is very similar. Saves me some time figuring out where to wire and how to route it.
Simplified and detailed ! Love the videos !!
Tthis is the kinda vid the vendors shouldbe doing. Makes sense now thank you
Very clear information. I was watching so many videos, you are the best! Thank you so much!
Dope! Helped me hook my headlights up.. 💯
Awesome video, thanks, makes my install much easier/faster
this was the most helpful guide ever thank you so much
Great intructional video.
One of the best DIY videos on installing the hid kit!! Great job and keep em coming!!
Awesome video man first very that was actually helpful and not confusing
very useful this video!!!, very accurate with the install using a harness here is a tip that im using on my accord 94, with the harness you have 1 vehicle connection free so what i did was to unify that connection to the high beam bcos im dont like to see any wiring hanging there also, to put into the high beam a capacitor just to have peace of mind, hope this tip like it and well greetings from colombia. :)
Thanks for this video . . shows the wiring harness and relay and what to do with it. But can't help thinking that a set of capacitors and the stock harness . . all plug and play. But thanks for clearing this up for me, appreciated.
Good video THANK YOU !
Dang, wanting to upgrade my farm trucks. This was awesome n super descriptive. Subbed
Great video 👍👍 thanks
Very very detailed and good explanation
Eduard Tomas Thanks for your comment!
thank you so much, very helpful info
Thanks for your comment!
Just curious why doesn't the passenger Factory harness get used only on the driver side wouldn't that cause a light bulb out warning on some of the newer luxury cars
Thanks a lot!
thank you so mach
best instruction on youtude so far thank you so much
Thanks for your comment!
This is an awesome video! Thanks so much. It is so clearly detailed that i now understand how to reverse the process should i decide to switch to LEDs. Thanks again.
Perfect thanks will I still have a error with this kit installed ? Due to the other headlight connector not connected
Hi, thanks for the video. Recently I just change stock headlight(55w with 15amp fuse) to xenon Hid(55W with stock fuse 15amp), but the xenon manual says a 20amp fuse recommended. Do I really need to upgrade the fuse rate? Thank you.
Great and thank you. Now i need to know how to include two cancellers into this mix?
did you have a actual OEM connector for the ballast? I had my HID kit installed years ago, and cent figure where they plugged the connector into. I been using the fog light connector since.
what about the the high beams? if both low and high beams connect to the same harness of the car? only low beams on the relay and high beam on stock harness of the car?
question yes - the connection made from the kit to the existing wiring harness...can you show that? I have an 03 accord. Is said connection port any different?
Thank you!
I'm trying to instal HID for my 2010 corolla High Beam/DRLs...the bulb size is 9005 and as soon as I turn it on....it starts flickering super hard. Do I need to install the relay harness??
is the relay harness basically used for cars wth drl. I tried installing hid into my malibu not enough lights coming out because of drl
Better instructions than the actual company themselves
Good video sir. People doing installs (plug & play installs) with just the factory stock wiring may end up ruining/overheating the wires cause of what you said...the ballast uses alot of current to start up. And that is why you used relay harness because it uses the right awg. gauge wire for the ballast and it gives it the amount of power it needs to work.
Hi Sir, Can you tell me if the kit works without the relay harness? because the one I bought on Amazon doesn't have a harness
@@galodoidousarenato5504 it should still work. My only opinion though when you connect it direct to the headlight plug, the stock wiring for the bulb may overheat and burn out the wire if the stock fuse does not blow because HID startup uses alot of volts/amperage it says on the ballast. I use a relay for my hid lights because I can hook up a bigger gauge wire to run my hids. The headlight plug runs to a relay, then the relay would switch on and send power from the other wire I use to power my hids. You should check out videos on youtube on how automotive relays work. But without a relay, your hid kit should still work. Just read the instructions...
@@jbmjbm323 thank you very much, I did as you said and it worked very well
@@galodoidousarenato5504 I installed morimoto 35W HiD kit on my car for 4 years now with no relay harness. No problem yet.
@@iishyxvietxboyii1cuz it’s morimoto
Hi there. I need your help. I installed HID light on my car with relay harness and canceller but one side still keeps turning off. Please help me try figure out what is wrong? Thanks
Eric, I bought a relay harness for my light bar. The on/off button switch has a red light for off and a green light for on. When the ignition is off the red off light is lit up. Will this drain my battery? My guess is it's like an alarm led. Love your videos. Thanks for any input
Great video, I have a question about the extra wiring from the ballast. If I could put a picture on here I would show you. I have extra wiring for the factory wires. Do I just cut them out or what?
Are there any videos showing installation of hid kit for 2005 trailblazer? I see videos after install but none of the actual installation itself
I just installed my OPT7 Hid Kit to my 2012 ford fusion and both my low beam headlights went I out !! I should have gotten the relay I see why now it's important to have that. hopefully I didn't burn out any wires :/
So did it work when you bought a relay harness
Your video was very informative, the socket that came with the conversion kit for my 2001 Infiniti I30 fits the high beam, do you know where i might find a similar socket for the low beam?
Try Amazon or Ebay
Can I also do the same process for the foglights as well?
I retrofit my lights on my 2007 Suzuki swift. Stock plugs are h4 and the projectors I retrofit are H1 bulbs. I bought a h4 relay harness, two ballasts and two H1 xenon bulbs. I put everything together and it works fine, except one thing. When I switch on my lights and close them after a while, trying to open them again only drivers headlight came on. If I try on/off several times the passenger side work too. I thought my ballasts are bad and I bought new ones. But still the same. Is that a problem with my relay harness?
Hopefully you or someone reading this can help me with the issue I have right now but basically I was trying to install the hid kit with relay on my car and the passenger side of my hid bulb won't turn on and I couldn't figure out why. It was also making so buzzing noises which supposedly I heard that it wouldn't happen with a relay kit. I don't know if it was due to the fact that the plug that was plugged into the bulb was left hanging, but I only have one signal wire which is connected to the driver side.
any specs or recommendations for the relay harness?
Saw a post here, someone had both hi/low beams on the factory plug and they wanted to install both but this video was for low beams only. I would think if they wanted hi and low beams, they would need to buy a bi-hid kit for both hi/low beam and for the relay harness it may look alittle different I think, but basically the same thing here in your vid.
What if the Xenon bulb cannister is cracked? It was delivered that way. Is it still good to use?
Can we use one factory connectors with relay to the headlight and another one factory connector with relay to the fog light ? Thanks you in advance sir🙏
guys I need help I ordered 2 kits of xentec I understand it's not the greatest brand my problem is with my replay harness it's 2 skinny wire postive negitive opposite side a plug for either factory oem plug in to ballast or a plug to plug in the relay harness in people have told me the oem plug doesn't get plugged in on opposite sides of battery but I have 4 replay harness could sombody drop there email so I could text them I'm so confused problem is either I plug in factory plug or relay I can't do both so how will the Ballston with out factory plug get power if it's not plugged in
If you contact rele.do you have fault for light on dashboard
is this the same proces for h1
I need to order 4 items of relay kit for my hid too. Thanks for the helpful information. Anyway, do I have to upgrade the fuses for both the low beams and high beams in the fuse wattage box?
You don't need to upgrade the fuse for the headlights.
Hi. Thank you it was very clear nice expression. I have a question. I bought a osram hid kit(new). I tried it by my passat without relay. But it flickers 2 sec. and stops the working. (Both of xenons) I have to make relay connection to fix this problem? right?
Assuming the new HID kit works fine, if you install a relay wiring harness for the HID, then you will be powering the HID directly off the car battery and that should take care of any flickering or turn on issue.
I just installed after market headlight assemblys in my 03 golf and i can get everything except my high beams. anyone have a clue way ?
I was following the same setup in my Hyundai Venue. But if I connect the battery line then I get a warning in console saying check headlight. If I give the headlamp line directly to relay and then connect relay to ballast, warning does not come. But I now face a new issue, the cut off line seems to be disappeared and the high beam from both lights goes to some top right in a wierd shape, no clue what's going on.
I bought A golf plus 2005. Its just failed its annual mot inspection as the law of these HIDs has changed here in the UK. To pass I need to remove the HID conversion back to the original. Any idea how to do this?
With a relay harness is it normal that you only have one connection for factory headlight harness just to get the signal to turn them on
I have a Wrangler with 7" round hid projector housings that use rubber boots to seal the wire inlets. In order to get the bulb wires routed through the water-tight rubber boots, the bulb connectors must be removed. Does anyone reading this know how to remove the plastic AMP style wire connectors from these HID bulb wires? Thanks in advance.
how do i know which relay and hid kit to use
just the tutorial i needed! can i have the link for the relay you used for your installation? thanks
Chris Biala I bought mine on Ebay. You can just search HID Relay Kit and you will find many.
if my car has different bulbs for high and low beams, does that mean I need to run two sets of this wire set up for each set of bulbs? also can you confirm that this type of installation with a relay will prevent the computer from being compromised?
Hey I'm wondering the same thing! My dodge chsrger has a high beam bulb an a low beam bulb for each side... does thst mean I have to run the lows with 2 ballasts an a relay harness and 2 more ballasts an a relay harness for the highbeams??? **Enlighten me Please**
Sorry the stupid question, but which is the trick to disconnect the headlights conector?
I have the manual, also the garage manual, but I don't know where to find this information. Thank you.
Depending on the type you have, many have a plastic push tab on the connector you need to push down and hold while pulling the connector off.
you should of gone with led headlihhts they are a lot easy to install and the flare you don't have to worry about it
For a b2200 the factory harness looks way different then the oval shaped plug on ballast, anyway i can still convert to hid?
Jeff Quinones yes just get the correct wiring harness for your setup
You said you were going to make a ghost shield for ones hid bulbs well I can’t find it help?????????
so im ordering aftermarket headlights for my 2002 530i due to a deer hitting and cracking my passenger headlight and the aftermarket I ordered says non compatible with factory HID cars which mine is. Will I be able to make it work?
Yes by installing a different kit. For example i ordered aftermarket headlights also for my car and came with an LED strip inside (which i think it looks cool) but my original HID bulbs did not fit so i had to buy a different set that would fit my aftermarket and it worked.
I have an 03 Ford Taurus I bought a hid kit which is 30000k my stock harness should be fine running the kit correct
quick question, what the hell is that connector between positive and relay, a fuse? Also, I see that one headlight connector plugs into the relay harness does that mean the other one is inactive/laying around because the one already sends the signal so the second is rendered useless?
Yes it is a fuse. Yes one headlight connector plugs into the relay harness (normally the side closest to the battery) the other one is left unplugged, since it just sends signal from factory harness to relay so you just need to connect one side.
Great video. Couple questions.
I have concerns about reverse polarity with my HID kit, and I don't have a relay harness at this time. Question is, after I get a relay harness how can I tell if polarity is reversed? I don't want to break anything. Apparently I had it reversed in the past according to an auto electric place, but the bulb worked that way right up until the ballast fried.
Second question, does it matter at all if you ground to the chassis or negative terminal? Is one preferred over the other?
Third question (sorry!) My battery is in my trunk. The front module does have a big red positive(+) terminal that I believe is intended for things like this, but do you know for sure if that is correct?
+beaker4251 To make sure you install ANY car electronics properly, you must test all connection with a multimeter. Guessing will get you in trouble. My channel has some videos on how to use multimeter, take a look. ruclips.net/video/9IZUvTyOGAk/видео.html
+dial2fast Thank you so much! I will get a multimeter and check out your videos before I mess around with my HIDs anymore :-)
Do i need to disconect the positive or just conect the red cable on top ?
Good question
Can you send me a link to this exact bulb?
Is raly compulsory for HID 65W?
nice video thxs all we need is the relay numbers plz
So you basically leave your other factory plug not being used to hang. Only use one for 12v from headlight? Thanks!
Yes
I have a hids for my low beam and they work great. But I tried putting hids on the high beams and don't seem to turn on do I need a relay to start up? Thanks in advance for the help
HID are not ideal for high beam as the warm up time takes too long for real practical use. There are lots of LED lights that performs very well. You should look into those. Also easy install as they are plug and play.
dial2fast thank you!!
Doesn't the ground go to the ground terminal in the battery or does it matter? I used a ground that was on the side of my engine bay but other videos say to use the batterys ground. Not sure
The car chassis is tied to battery ground. Check it with a multimeter before you connect it.
How does the plastic cover come off of the light to install it
Where do you but the relay from
Where did you get those HID kit please
I installed my relay and one headlight isn’t turning on do you suspect what the issue can be
is there 1 connection on the ballast that wont need to be connected? i cant figure out where it goes, i left it alone (disconnected) and still work
Joaquin Sanchez there's nothing left unplugged the only wires on the ballast should be the wires going into it for power and the wires going out of it to the bulb
quick question: what do you with the passenger OEM connector? Do you leave it unplugged?
Yes leave it unplugged.
i recently added a relay to my HID set up. I noticed that the wire from the battery to relay gets very hot. Is that normal? It seems dangerous to me that it get hot. Any responses would be appreciated.
If the wire is getting hot, then the wire is too thin. Use a thicker gauge wire like 12-14 gauge.
where do i find the factory headlight connector that would fit my hid's connector? I cant find it on my car.
+Fernando Ramos That connector is connected to your factory headlight bulb.
Great instructional video helps those who haven't done this prior alot, i have done them enough its pretty quick now however on my own car i need something extra i guess! My hids just one night decided to go out & continue this every night hete & there, the kicker is i had my car parked today with hazards on for about 45min-1h & the car was totally dead! It was so dead that even bump starting didn't work i had to get an actually boost, so i think i know why my lights suddenly started going out but i still want to wire in a relay.
Can i just take a relay and make my conections on it or do i have to buy a harness, i only ask 1 because i'm short on time and can't wait for stuff to get shipped to me in Ontario Canada 2nd i have a brand new relay sitting in my parts crap so i could save time & money it i can use that one. Thanks
Phil Peterson If you know how to wire up a relay, then of course you can. I normally put together my own relay harness, but for demonstration, I used this relay kit. Just make sure you fuse the 12v wire for safety.
Thanks alot for the info.
Hi Dear Friends, where i can find a eleçtronic diagram from Wiring hardness controller ? My controller have a short circuito, i have repair it but i need to confirme all plate connections m it´s little diagram with relay , two capacotors and some diods, laes if somebody have this diagram, sent it to me, thanks
Question? Why other RUclips videos showed the relay black wire hooked up to the battery !!
+alilazmo Black wire is chassis ground. The battery negative terminal connects to the car chassis. Either connect the black wire to chassis or to the negative terminal on the battery...same thing.
Do we only connect one power from the factory socket?
Yes, because your relay only has 1 trigger wire to energize it.
If both hid light do not turn on and you switch its polarity and only one turns on then the only reason they'll have you buy a harness is to bypass their mistake. Just switch the pins in the connector that connects to the ballast. Both should work without switching polarity.
Are these for low beam or high beam? Also my car has a projector headlight. Would they cause lots of glare for that kind of headlight?
It's for low beam. These days, you should really look for LED light. Fast startup, pure white color, easy install.
I bought the correct h4 bulbs for my car but theres no connector to power the ballast
When your hooking up your harness to the nut on your battery you dont need to dissconnect the battery right? I dont want to lose any of my settings in my car? Thanks and great videos!!!
A Sharma You don't need to disconnect the battery when connecting but just make sure you don't short anything while connecting.
You can also remove the fuse from the power cable on the harness. This way no power is flowing to the relay switch and allows you to secure all wiring connections prior to activating the lights.
What is the best hid kit to buy on the market?
Where did you get the Relay portion of your kit mine didn't come with one
You can get a universal relay harness for cheap. Take a look at this one amzn.to/3eJMNeY
Does the heat of the xenon hid bulb affect the plastic/ lens of the headlights?
I have 55w currently and i was curious of any type of heat so i had them on for a while just driving around and before i turned me car off, i touched the outside lense and they were cold.
when connecting the wire to the positive terminal am I in any danger of getting shocked or electrocuted, or do i have to disconnect negative first just being safe thank you
The 12V DC will not shock you. You don't need to disconnect the negative terminal.
thank you was concerned
what do you do with the extra connections it comes with?
Let em hang I guess? I'm trying to figure that out too
Nice and simple explaination. Thanks and subscribed, please provide the feedback, how is the operating temperature compared to halogens, i mean heat build up inside casing. I have heard hid are cooler than halogens. How is the long term performance?
HID will last a very long time, but both HID and Halogen run very hot. Maybe one is cooler than the other, but again, both are very hot.
