I also wanted to mention a few more things that I struggled with because of my Irlen syndrome that I forgot to mention in the video! Irlen lenses also help with depth perception and help calm overactive brain activity which can lead to restless sleep and other issues.

I was only diagnosed by my college (the learning support at college are certified to diagnose Irlen Syndrome), a few months ago and I'm 17. I'm hoping to get tinted glasses because I use 2 overlays but it's so awkward and they get battered after some time. And I love to read books but the overlays are massive. I also type in my exams. I also have to wear sunglasses at college because it's so bright, I've always hated bright light and preferred the dark, but I always thought it was just my Autism. Mine is really severe.
it was my optician that suspected irlen syndrome to me. basically i went for an i test when i was 14 and he was like wait
you’re saying the letters wrong without any lenses ! so he told my mum and i got screened in school (the SEND team had a qualified screener) and i used 2 green overlays. then a few months later i booker an appointment for coloured lenses after seeing my grades sky rocket. so i went to a professional/ private optician. then he tested me for coloured lenses, and told me that 99% of the time the lenses are a different colour from the overlays. but i didn’t know that so i expected to get green glasses, i came out with dark purple colour. they arrived 3 weeks later and i’ve been wearing them ever since and i went from being bottom of the class and seen as the weird kid with ADHD to a smarter kid who was misdiagnosed with ADHD. i’m 16 now. i love my glasses ❤️❤️❤️

I am 15 and I was diagnosed with Irlen syndrome I can still barely read it is a pain and the Irlen filters do not help me my filters has change twice so far my school barely does anything for people like me I wish the disease we are suffering with was curable.
I hope you one day find filters that begin to help!!

Just interested… where are you from? I feel like no one in the US knows about Irlen (compared to other countries).
Has the colored changed in the last 5 yeats.
I got the lenses in 2012 and they were a lighter version of purple/pink than they are now. Around 2015 I got tested again and my color was updated to the darker shade they are now.
I have irlen syndrome too . I am from india. I have no enough money to buy expensive irlen lenses. I used overlay to read .
I used the overlays before getting my glasses and they help tremendously as well!
Deep Paliwal I use overlays as well, because I haven't been able to get my glasses yet. My college is covering the costs of mine. The issue with overlays for me is when you are reading books or you're on a computer. Like I have to type for my exams and most books are smaller than A4 and my overlays are bigger than A4. I also have to use 2 overlays ontop of each other which is annoying. And they get battered easily over a few months.
I've heard you can change the color of the computer background. Maybe that would help?
