I feel like this album was really a "you wanted a twist?" type album. Every criticism that was thrown at them was addressed - the entire chorus is full of high notes. The album has RANGE. The album keeps you invested without being full of boring ballads (which, the ballads on this album are NOT boring at all!). Very iconic. Major props to the girls and to their team.
I'm proud that the girls have come so far and have proved many people wrong with their new album. Are they the most talented or skilled group? No, but with their current material, it allows them to shine as a group and as individuals.
I think this album and their recent stages prove that Ive is much more talented than other 4th gen fandoms have tried to paint them as. Its been cool to see a group see the criticism thrown at them constantly, then turn around with their next cb to prove the haters wrong. Funny those certain fandoms are now silent after this album dropped.

I think the album is more on showing the members their unique qualities and ability to do different genres rather than having just one storyline. Hence why, black and white and I've Ive (I have IVE) is more on how special IVE is and how different they are.
Wonyoung is one of my favorite 4th gen idols and has so much respect from me, from her songwriting skills to her unique singing to her resilience from all the hate she’s gone through.

I have always have faith on IVE, why? Bc they come from starship and that company can be many things but have always be amazing in producing music and understand how to put groups concepts out there: from sistar, to boyfriend, to monsta x, to wjsn, to cravity and to ive, it has always been fantastic. Ive is proving every hater (not saying you are the hater i'm talking about those tiktoks😭 wrong) They said IVE can't sing? Every member is singing and proving themselves, going to shows were they need to sing live, going viral because of their vocals on tiktok. Said they can't dance proving them wrong, again I saw more than 4 tiktoks praising ive's stage presence of the recent performances they did. They said IVE isn't talented, girlies wrote 7 out of 11 songs. Now IVE has proved that they are one of the best 4th gen groups, nobody is allowed to shit on them. And even if you don't stan them you can't deny the music bangs. Specially the new album is just too good. The only thing sse couldn't do right was promoting them, the girls had to beg every night at bubble to wait a little longer... but still the album is breaking records here and there as it should 🤧 Also ive is now tied with bts for having the most songs reaching #1 in spotify korea, makes me soo proud💕💕
Well they wrote lyrics for songs and rappers wrote their part for 4 songs would be more precise. I personally don't like Ive music that much but it's great to see that starship is letting them being more involved in their song even if it's only lyrics at the moment. Let's hope for DIVES that the girls can also continue to evolve and take a more active role in songwriting in the future.

Wonyoung jumping out of the plane in "I Am" is my favorite moment from an MV so far this year. Like it's completely ridiculous, and yet it's so on brand. She keeps getting more successful and doing more when so many people are constantly hating on her. Filming that scene, even though it was obviously not an actual plane jump and probably just some mild wire work over a safety mat and green screen, must have been so fun for her. She's doing stunts in a kpop MV. Who else is doing that in the 4th gen?! I have come around to really appreciate Wonyoung. Yes, it does often feel like she stands out due to the company pushing her to the front, but she tries to stay bold and unbothered, and I feel that's very courageous and should be commended. IDK, it just hit for me in all the best ways. Awesome video btw!

Dropping a full 11 song album after having 6 songs on their first year is iconic behavior. Tho starship probably realized that having more songs will defenetly make them more popular since there are more choices to listen to. And really ive makes really good music, they are literally the first girlgroup since snsd album the boys to have two top 1 songs of the same album on the charts. Because even if people think ive is considered popular only because of wony and yujin, its really because they have a royal teen concept that cant be recreated easily so its refreshing in the middle of all the y2k or galaxy concepts or girlcrush or pure concepts or kwangya like concepts.
before the highlight medley i was also suspicious but when i saw the track listing and saw the writing and producing credits i was hyped because members participated and the original writer of eleven came back to participate in hypnosis and exy from wjsn wrote lips then came the highlight medley and it was so good !! so i went into the album knowing it’s good and i wasn’t disappointed
I loved the album as well, I’m glad you did so too. I just want to add to what you said about Wonyoung’s vocals. Even though she is not the most naturally gifted singer, she works well with what she has and is continuing to improve. Comparing her from 2 years ago in iz’one to this album is crazy and she’ll take it further. I think what’s special about her is her delivery. That’s talent imo. She kind of reminds me of IM from Monsta X who although a rapper, when he sings he steals the show even from Kihyun sometimes just because of his vocal tone and delivery. Wonyoung absolutely stands out in the album and whenever I see reaction videos from people that don’t know much about them or the whole ‘ow she doesn’t have the best vocals’ discourse, many pick her out as their favorite voice. She deserve this praise.
I agree, she's not the best but she knows how to use her voice. Even in I am, she has the least lines but she still manages to catch attention with her vocals. Her parts are one of my faves in I AM and in Hypnosis as well.
I feel you, man, when I first heard they were gonna do a full album. I was very skeptical, and I am glad I proven wrong. IVE did such a great job, and I keep forgetting that Starship with their artist does make great full-albums.
i'm not gonna lie i wasn't a big fan of ive (i wasn't a hater i just didn't like them) but this album made me a fan i've been listening to the album and i also got more into their earlier songs, all 7 and i am impressed i really like them
i decided to stan ive after hearing this album i was pretty hesitant before like yeah i love all their songs but the fact that they were only dropping singles didn't sit right with me so i'm really happy they gave us a full length album i knew it was going to be good but i didn't expect it to be THIS good bc it's one of those inject it straight into my veins type of albums for me

The black and white is on purpose based on the color spectrum. Afterlike was very color based and so between these primary colors you get the black and white. All the songs are connected and share a theme. The lipsync thing was them doing this because they performed over 4x that day while hosting and flew to Japan after the performance they were heavily busy busy. I didn't watch your video about it but I don't know if someone mentioned it. These girls are really hard working
I was also surprised to hear a full album from IVE. Nowadays, kpop groups release mostly EPs and mini album. My favorite tracks are Blue Blood, Heroine and Hypnosis mostly for the instrumentals and the vocals. Overall, I liked the album, but I prefer the b-sides to the title track. If IVE continues to give us good music like this I think it will change the perception of the group and hopefully stop the Ive/Wonyoung hate train (coz' it's exausting). I'm so happy IVE focuses on good music. IVE doesn't disappoint at all. Not to mention, Wonyoung wrote 2 WHOLE SONGS from this album - "Mine" and "Shine With Me", which when listening to these songs from her perspective, makes the songs even more soulful and emotional. Yujin also had a big hand writing Hypnosis and Gaeul on her rap lines. I'm so proud of them and I hope to see more of their success expand in all directions
The start of your video hit me perfectly. I was one of those that liked IVE tracks but didn't find them great or anything but this album I decided to listen just because I got a new pair of earphones and wow, it's not only ACTUALLY good, I think it's GREAT even.
Something I have gathered from the trends in the consumption of music is lack of patience. We say its because the world is way too fast paced in this century but I would argue its because we don't set our priorities. Instead of hours on twitter or tiktok, sitting down to absorb music is so rare. Not just limited to kpop, music is usually successful if its serves the hype. Because its easy to listen and feel the mania but also easy for that mania to die out enough for you to move on to the next artist. That in itself reflects a lot in many of comment culture, and the 'unpopular opinion' videos. Infact even the narratives such as 'lost their essence' etc. Many a times its because a group would experiment or slow down or take time to discover new styles. We as audience forget that that process is rawer than it can ever get even if their previous hype music just felt more authentic to you due to the 'sound' of a group/artist. But with respect to idols, a vast majority of one's discography itself would be makings inspired by a current trend. Thereby cohesiveness in discography is found far less than preferable. Imo, I think what ive succeeded with this album was consistency. For a group that lacks much musical identity, even if it wasn't cohesive, there was enough flow that would get you to listen to the album in a sitting. Which unfortunately I just can't get myself to do with majority idol albums. Cause you feel the disconnect and that makes you as a listener either loose interests or feel confused.
I don't know if you know about I'ves lore. Because the music video makes a lot of sense. I think I've will probably have 3 single albums next (yellow, cyan, pink covers) and will have a black full album afterwards.
Ngl, I'm super impressed with I Am! It sounds so good. I love the light vocals with a heavy electric guitar. I wasn't expecting IVE to go for such a heavy title track. It might just beat Eleven as my favourite title track from them

Honestly, when thay announced FULL ALBUM, I expected the type of album like Blackpink put out - max 8 songs, and that's because previously they only did a title track and one bside and I assumed they are not going to release a long album like that, but I got pleasantly surprised when I saw 11 songs
Also when I say this is the best Kpop album I've heard I genuinely mean an ALBUM of 10-12 songs not any mini albums if that were the case I have a whole list (Sunmi, Shinee, Stray Kids, Twice, etc.) of amazing 10/10 BSides but it really is just different to Double that into a mini, it's not the same so I wouldn't be comparing this with Billie's Mini personally as that's not a full length album
i am and hypnosis are two of my new favorite songs and kitch has really grown on me. they seem to have so much fun with it and the mv oozes fun and confidence imo. the whole thing really fits with "i am" like okay this is who i am this is what we're about, keep talking about us
I agree with your comment regarding cohesion. All the songs are good but since Ive lacks a concrete musical identity it would've helped for the album to be more put together.
Ive is emulating SNSD who touched and killed different concepts and didnt care about “identity”. Snsd put out music they wanted (or rather SM). And it’s painfully obvious that those that can reinvent themselves are the ones that last long in the industry….and IVE IS HERE TO STAY. 😊
Agreed, the cover artwork is sadly very boring. Regarding cohesion, I was so surprised to hear NOT YOUR GIRL. I would have never expected to hear such a song from IVE. Hypnosis is my favorite song on this album!
I honestly think that those who are doubting ive's abilities are just nitpicking and waiting for their downfall. They may not be the most talented vocal and dance-wise, but they do have good discography, stage presence, and performances. What i love about this album is that it is so diverse genre-wise, and definitely not boring to listen to. It isn't bland or sticking to one style. And i love that the members themselves took part in the creative process. Wonyoung literally gave a big slap to her haters with this album and they better back off. Looking forward to their future
starship may be a shit company, but the artists under their roster are all talented! glad ive were able to show off their skills from their vocal capabilities, their dancing skills, and their writing skills because these kids are very skilled, they may not be top notch vocalists but they make it work for their songs and they are improving every release. i do agree that the album art is shit, starship is losing ideas with album art styles these days (copy-pasted the same format for shape of love, facade, after like, reason, and master:piece so that's very telling) so i'm hoping they switch things up for the next release for all their artists, canva is free anyways.

Listen Lips and Cherish have me in a choke hold specifically but the whole album has been on repeat,I've been in Kpop over 15 years okay? My first group & song was SNSD Oh! I usually only stan crazy talent (Nmixx and Xg are really the only 2 groups I stan in the new gen) With that being said IVE and Starship proved me WRONG. Would they ever be able to put out predebut content like Nmixx or XG and make me shook with their raw talent? No. But guess what? They know what they're doing. I can actually see and hear the improvement since they've debuted and that's all I care about tbh..I feel like everyone is so used to groups in the 5th gen coming out the gate with "perfection" in every category and have forgotten or never even experienced that part of the beauty of KPOP was watching a group grow and get better in all categories until they're just amazing 3, 4, 5 years down the line and they're really bringing that back for me, they really are. Totally agree with your two complaints and I’d say those are my only two complaints with this fantastic album. Especially the cohesive element. Not Your Girl coming right after Hypnosis throws me off EVERY time (every time meaning I’ve had this album on a loop since it came out I’m not kidding I love it so much). They really slayed so hard with this album.

Comparing her from 2 years ago in iz’one to this album is crazy and she’ll take it further. I think what’s special about her is her delivery. That’s talent imo. She kind of reminds me of IM from Monsta X who although a rapper, when he sings he steals the show even from Kihyun sometimes just because of his vocal tone and delivery. Wonyoung absolutely stands out in the album and whenever I see reaction videos from people that don’t know much about them or the whole ‘ow she doesn’t have the best vocals’ discourse, many pick her out as their favorite voice. She deserve this praise.
I agree, she's not the best but she knows how to use her voice. Even in I am, she has the least lines but she still manages to catch attention with her vocals. Her parts are one of my faves in I AM and in Hypnosis as well.

I feel you, man, when I first heard they were gonna do a full album. I was very skeptical, and I am glad I proven wrong. IVE did such a great job, and I keep forgetting that Starship with their artist does make great full-albums.
Hypnosis is my top 3 from this album for sure. Its so entrancing honestly. Top notch mesmerising vocals !

i decided to stan ive after hearing this album i was pretty hesitant before like yeah i love all their songs but the fact that they were only dropping singles didn't sit right with me so i'm really happy they gave us a full length album i knew it was going to be good but i didn't expect it to be THIS good bc it's one of those inject it straight into my veins type of albums for me

I’ve been really into Ive lately so I was really excited about this comeback and the album. I love that they’re getting involved more with the music. It makes me even more excited for their upcoming comebacks. They’re easily one of my favorite rookie groups along with Le Sserafim.
The black and white is on purpose based on the color spectrum. Afterlike was very color based and so between these primary colors you get the black and white. All the songs are connected and share a theme.
The lipsync thing was them doing this because they performed over 4x that day while hosting and flew to Japan after the performance they were heavily busy busy. I didn't watch your video about it but I don't know if someone mentioned it.

I was also surprised to hear a full album from IVE. Nowadays, kpop groups release mostly EPs and mini album. My favorite tracks are Blue Blood, Heroine and Hypnosis mostly for the instrumentals and the vocals. Overall, I liked the album, but I prefer the b-sides to the title track. If IVE continues to give us good music like this I think it will change the perception of the group and hopefully stop the Ive/Wonyoung hate train (coz' it's exausting). I'm so happy IVE focuses on good music. IVE doesn't disappoint at all. Not to mention, Wonyoung wrote 2 WHOLE SONGS from this album - "Mine" and "Shine With Me", which when listening to these songs from her perspective, makes the songs even more soulful and emotional. Yujin also had a big hand writing Hypnosis and Gaeul on her rap lines. I'm so proud of them and I hope to see more of their success expand in all directions
The start of your video hit me perfectly. I was one of those that liked IVE tracks but didn't find them great or anything but this album I decided to listen just because I got a new pair of earphones and wow, it's not only ACTUALLY good, I think it's GREAT even.
Something I have gathered from the trends in the consumption of music is lack of patience. We say its because the world is way too fast paced in this century but I would argue its because we don't set our priorities. Instead of hours on twitter or tiktok, sitting down to absorb music is so rare. Not just limited to kpop, music is usually successful if its serves the hype. Because its easy to listen and feel the mania but also easy for that mania to die out enough for you to move on to the next artist. That in itself reflects a lot in many of comment culture, and the 'unpopular opinion' videos. Infact even the narratives such as 'lost their essence' etc. Many a times its because a group would experiment or slow down or take time to discover new styles. We as audience forget that that process is rawer than it can ever get even if their previous hype music just felt more authentic to you due to the 'sound' of a group/artist. But with respect to idols, a vast majority of one's discography itself would be makings inspired by a current trend. Thereby cohesiveness in discography is found far less than preferable. Imo, I think what ive succeeded with this album was consistency. For a group that lacks much musical identity, even if it wasn't cohesive, there was enough flow that would get you to listen to the album in a sitting. Which unfortunately I just can't get myself to do with majority idol albums. Cause you feel the disconnect and that makes you as a listener either loose interests or feel confused.
I dont see how a lot of people miss the story. The album is so cohesive it’s enchanting..but you have to pay attention.
I don't know if you know about I'ves lore. Because the music video makes a lot of sense. I think I've will probably have 3 single albums next (yellow, cyan, pink covers) and will have a black full album afterwards.
Ngl, I'm super impressed with I Am! It sounds so good. I love the light vocals with a heavy electric guitar. I wasn't expecting IVE to go for such a heavy title track. It might just beat Eleven as my favourite title track from them

Honestly, when thay announced FULL ALBUM, I expected the type of album like Blackpink put out - max 8 songs, and that's because previously they only did a title track and one bside and I assumed they are not going to release a long album like that, but I got pleasantly surprised when I saw 11 songs
Also when I say this is the best Kpop album I've heard I genuinely mean an ALBUM of 10-12 songs not any mini albums if that were the case I have a whole list (Sunmi, Shinee, Stray Kids, Twice, etc.) of amazing 10/10 BSides but it really is just different to Double that into a mini, it's not the same so I wouldn't be comparing this with Billie's Mini personally as that's not a full length album
i am and hypnosis are two of my new favorite songs and kitch has really grown on me. they seem to have so much fun with it and the mv oozes fun and confidence imo. the whole thing really fits with "i am" like okay this is who i am this is what we're about, keep talking about us
I agree with your comment regarding cohesion. All the songs are good but since Ive lacks a concrete musical identity it would've helped for the album to be more put together.
Ive is emulating SNSD who touched and killed different concepts and didnt care about “identity”. Snsd put out music they wanted (or rather SM).

I honestly think that those who are doubting ive's abilities are just nitpicking and waiting for their downfall. They may not be the most talented vocal and dance-wise, but they do have good discography, stage presence, and performances. What i love about this album is that it is so diverse genre-wise, and definitely not boring to listen to. It isn't bland or sticking to one style. And i love that the members themselves took part in the creative process.
Wonyoung literally gave a big slap to her haters with this album and they better back off. Looking forward to their future
starship may be a shit company, but the artists under their roster are all talented! glad ive were able to show off their skills from their vocal capabilities, their dancing skills, and their writing skills because these kids are very skilled, they may not be top notch vocalists but they make it work for their songs and they are improving every release.
i do agree that the album art is shit, starship is losing ideas with album art styles these days (copy-pasted the same format for shape of love, facade, after like, reason, and master:piece so that's very telling) so i'm hoping they switch things up for the next release for all their artists, canva is free anyways.

Wonyoung has improved drastically from previous comebacks where she barely sanf live and now she almost doesnt skip any lines except to catch breath!!! I can't stress this enough. With that being said IVE and Starship proved me WRONG. Would they ever be able to put out predebut content like Nmixx or XG and make me shook with their raw talent? No. But guess what? They know what they're doing. Totally agree with your two complaints and I’d say those are my only two complaints with this fantastic album. Especially the cohesive element. Not Your Girl coming right after Hypnosis throws me off EVERY time (every time meaning I’ve had this album on a loop since it came out I’m not kidding I love it so much).
