This PRINTER segment was so validating! I literally had this same convo 2 days ago.
I have a 20(?) yr old Brother, the colors haven't worked in at least 10 yrs, only prints B&W. I have a collection of broken plastic bits & parts (that will never go back on). My similar little cartridges last me 2-3 yrs ... *pay attention here Orny, this is a crucial tip. If you put a tiny piece of electrical tape over the little ink 'window' on the cartridge, the printer can't 'read it' & you can get another 6 months of ink out of it w/o the printer telling you your "ink is low/empty".
I have to lay a letter opener (or ruler) in the tray to catch the page & stop it from scrunching up in the tray as it spits out because the slide-out 'catcher' is broken off. If your broken parts aren't hinged or need to move, you can repair it with baking soda and super glue .. or JB Weld.
I shopped online for a new printer about 2 yrs ago and was like nope, f* that. They'll pry this one from my cold, dead hands.
