I had 4th degree tears during childbirth in 1979. I was sewn up after the birth but the stitches burst and I lived that way for years till 2011 . I had an operation they gave me a sling by taking a muscle in my leg. I had so many complications . I was left with stenosis . I had a house flap a few months later. It left scar tissue . I have been dealing with this for so long. I went to see another Dr. He suggested a colostomy bag. No way! I use Konsyl every day, I use a dialators every day. My life is miserable because of it . I was impacted 3 times . What a horror show! I read on line that stenosis is a debilitating condition. I'm here to say it is. love your videos.

Gastrοenterogist after examination says the opening is normal but the stool cannot be wider than half inch. A couple of times I had a prolapse from the push, that lasted several hours. 95% of the time everything is normal but what about that terrible5%. If hard stool is stuck in the opening what can I do?

I had a hemorrhoidectomy, fissurectomy, and removal of an ulcer a few years ago. The recovery was Hell. I've always had issues with my pelvic floor muscles and sphincter always tightening since childhood. I'd be given enemas as a kid to help me poop cuz I'd clench up and not be able to go.
Since the surgery, my hole is about as big as a pencil hole and nothing comes out that's any thicker than my index finger - even when relaxed. Sigh :-/

I am suffering from A. Stenosis since 1996, I was using an antidiarrheal (Metronidazole + Furazolidone ) TID for two days, and I found secnidazole a single dose therapy on the third day I took Secnidazole, suddenly I felt symptoms of Piles intense burning and itching. I went to the doctor he prescribed Daflon 500 mg BD with tronolane cream. after one month I was ok, then sometime after I again took Secnidazole for diarrhoea and again same symptoms appears but with low intensity since then no medication for piles and haemorrhoids helped me in this condition and several times I went to doctors, but no one recognized this. After studying much literature about stenosis I came to recognize my illness as A. Stenosis but found no treatment for this. Currently, I do not have any pain, abdominal discomfort etc but alternatively hard and loose stools (narrow) at irregular times.

Suppose a Proctologist told a person after a colonoscopy that "your sphincter kept closing up on me?" Having gotten a colonoscopy a few years ago when complaining about narrow stools, I was told that. Otherwise no other issues other than a few internal hemorrhoids. Hello, it’s been 4 months I’ve been dealing with pressure in my rectum and it’s ruined my daily life routines. I no longer study or work due to the pressure and horrible feeling in my rectum / lower body. I also feel i can never finish all my bowel mouvements. And even though I have a good diet (I have GERD) i tend to feel constipated (Maybe I’m not). The pressure / uncomfortableness in my rectum really takes my focus away from anything in life. It mostly bothers me when i sit or lay down to sleep. One important thing is that my fart noises have a specific noise, it never changed and it only lets a little bit out, I always feel farts are stuck in me as well. Most the time i try to force fart or stool out … only little comes out. It’s honestly changed my life into a very dark one, this pressure in my rectum or wherever it might be has really turned my life upside down.

But but about 4-5 months back this has become so problematic that stool became more narrower and found it more difficult to pass stools. It feela like their is a constriction at or right above the anus. Fearfully I consulted a doctor. They did Sigmoidoscopy, but to my surprise he said the results are all fine and there is nothing to worry. But I'm still have those symtoms, it is difficult to pass stools, and everytime i feel like there is more left to go after taking a shit. Please share some opinion.

A year in, my hemorrhoidectomy was botched. I have terrible anal stenosis and suffer for hours after a bowel movement. I am in chronic pain in the most embarrassing area. I also have a few fissures from how narrow my anus is. I went to a general surgeon for my hemorrhoidectomy. Please go to an anorectal surgeon if you get a hemorrhoidectomy they are way more specialized, and they won't take more tissue than they should

Good news and update, I found a great doctor who gave me a prescription for diltiazem cream he said it works on 70% of his patients. I've been using it for a week while taking psyllium fiber and collagen peptides. So far, so good! The doctor told me that if the pain remains, he can do a set of botox shots that work on the 30% that the creme did not help. He said it helps 9 out of 10 times. Then he said if I'm in the 3% of that group which the first shot didn't work, he will do another botox shot, which is another 9 out of 10 chance to be completely healed pain-free. He said only 0.03% of that group need to have fissure removal surgery or anoplasty, and he said the risk of being incontinent/needing diapers for a short period is about 20% and he said it's absolutely a last resort because about 2% of people may need them long term. His name is Dr B Billings from Newport News VA. Don't suffer for a year. If your pain is still around after 3 months, please see a proctologist/anorectal surgeon (they don't just do surgery). See them for pain relief, too!

@@mariejacob6178 I had hemorrhoidectomy surgery in April of 22 and my bowel movements are still painful an hurt to pass. Doctor says not to strain during BM but if I don't strain to push it out then it'll just sit there until I'm backed up enough that the stuff behind it forces it out in turn causing fissure. Also I rarely have the urge to use the bathroom like I did before surgery plus some roids have returned. I feel like the hemorrhoidectomy has caused just a many problems as it fixed, I'm definitely not having another hemorrhoidectomy surgery and I don't know what to do anymore. This situation is ruining my life, seems like it's getting worse also. Now I'm getting fissures when before I never had any an these past two weeks I've started passing gallstones as well. If this is what 44 years old looks like I hate to think of what 50 will bring . I'm so tired of living this way an feel like I'm a burden on my wife now. She's been great in dealing/helping with everything but since surgery everything has gotten worse instead of better which was the whole reason I had the surgery. Sorry for the rambling comment, having a bad day.

Thank you so much for doing a video on this topic! So, how do you relax and overtightened muscle to go comfortably? Since my hemorrhoidectomy I've struggled. If I have too much fiber it doesn't "fit" and I have to wait for a lot of pressure to force the muscle open and push it out. If I make it too soft it comes out like thin ribbons or very narrow. The muscle just won't relax and open up without force. I'm trying to avoid a sphincterotomy.

Hi Dr. Chung. My hemorrhoidectomy was four and a half months ago. It still hurts everyday when I have a bowel movement. Very rarely do I notice a little bit of blood in the stool. Generally, it's just pain. I've been using Nifedipine cream with lidocaine for about 6 six weeks and I think it's helped a little bit. I used to feel a burning/nerve pain with BMs until about a week and a half ago. That's gone, but the painful BM is still there and then my bum aches for hours after. Saw my general surgeon today and he did an anal exam. Said my anus is quite tight, he could feel a sort of ring inside there and that I would benefit from anal dilation surgery (procedure in OR). I also have a fibrous nodule that's on the outside that just happened about 2 months ago. He said he would cut that away too. Does that seem like a reasonable course of action? Mostly wondering about the anal dilation. Worth it? Effective? Painful recovery? I would appreciate any comments/feedback please.

    • @user-bo5qg4ik8v
      @user-bo5qg4ik8v 2 года назад +1

Thanks so much for your reply, Dr. Chung. I did ask the surgeon. He feels I would benefit from the procedure, said it wouldn't result in anywhere close to the pain from the hemorrhoidectomy, and that I would likely feel better within a week (including cutting the nodule/piece of skin outside of my anus). I was just hoping to hear whether you have thoughts on that procedure. Again, he said there is tightness, but he was able to get his finger in there so he didn't say, "you have stenosis." He described it as being a bit of stenosis or something like that, which seems to make some sense to me. I have an appt with my GP to see when I might get in to another specialist for a second opinion, but I've been waiting around a month and it could be months more so that's not a great alternative. On a positive note, I just had a fairly pain-free bowel movement. Maybe because he had stretched things out a bit the other day? No idea if that's possible or is a dumb thought, but it's pretty coincidental that my bowel movement hardly hurt at all today. Thanks for any added info you might be able to offer.

I’ve had anal fissures on and off for 10 years. As of January, my colorectal surgeon offered to do an LIS surgery but I was too scared to go. Now my anus feels very tight and I have to stoop in order to pass a good stool. Can a fissure lead to anal stenosis? I’m able to insert my middle finger in my anus when I squat. Would I be able to do that with a fissure?

I’m pretty sure I have this. I’ve had chronic anal fissure for years. It’s getting harder and harder to pass stool. If it’s hard, I have to physically push it out via my vag and pushing with both hands out the anus. Or if I do pass stool normally, it’s very thin. I’m either constipated or have diarrhea. The fissure I’ve had for years and it comes and goes. I’m bleeding again. I’ve decided to finally see a doctor but I don’t want to. I know what they are going to say and I just refuse to have the surgery. I don’t know what to do.
I have an autoimmune disorder and EDS. I don’t know if I have Chron’s, but it’s my fault that I didn’t treat the anal fissure I’ve had for about 7 years now. I’m getting mild leakage of stool. It itches and I have to keep wiping and wiping and then it just gets more irritated. Not to mention the awful spasms.

Hi doctor . May I ask that if during the carrying out of the examination to check if a patient has Anal stenosis after few months from piles surgery, so while inserting the scope into the Anus area (with lubricating gel), but there is experienced of some sharp pain during the process and if the scope can go in , does this mean that the scarred tissue are not overgrown obstructing the anal canal and this is consider as there is no anal stenosis ?
    Appreciate your advice thanks.

Great question. I'm not able to answer your question unless I see you in the office.
