Short version: Nerves in the butt detect pressure (among other things), but can't tell the difference between pressure from swelling and pressure from actual poop. Also, the colon is constantly pushing more poop, a little at a time, into the rectum.
If you sit on the toilet for too long, your hemorrhoids will get more and more inflamed, even if there's no more poop. If you sit long enough, you may also periodically poop out smaller amounts of increasingly liquid poop that is always coming from the colon (but which hasn't had the chance to dry out in the rectum yet), all the while inflaming your hemorrhoids even more, leading to a painful, leaky butt once you finally do get up.
So get your business done and get off the toilet quickly, even if it feels like you could maybe poop some more.

Seeing as this is what the channel is all about....
I'll poop first thing in the morning. Out of bed, straight to the toilet. I poop, then wipe..... then just as I'm finished wiping I'll poop again and have to start the wipe process again. So now I'll sit there for 20mins, waiting for round 2.
Eventually I'll be done, then after I've gotten off and go to start the morning routine, I have about 10-15mis before I'm clenching and have to go back to the toilet to fire out one last time.
Then I'm done for the day... or sometimes I need to go again late in the afternoon.
I feel like everything I ate the day before comes out the morning after.

Why don’t more doctors know about this? I saw at least 7 doctors who all stuck a finger up and said everything was fine - but I kept saying: I keep getting the urge to go and something pops out every time I do - and they all said that everything was fine ; they need to do a scan of my body whilst I poop to see what’s happening

Was off work for 3 weeks following surgery but back to normal again now - first time I’ve had a normal poo in over 6 years ☺️🙏
The main thing to do is just forget they’re there any way you can and not push or clench ever - numbing cream and stool softener - and just go about your everyday life (obviously if it hurts then slow down, take a seat, chill - but I kept thinking the worst and I think that made things slowly worse over the years. I didn’t have anyone who could relate or tell me what’s wrong so I just did what I could to stay comfortable and that mostly involved avoiding going out - in case I needed the loo whilst out and then I was stranded)
Long ramble to say yes - I got surgical treatment after many years of using creams and trying to relax but to no avail; surgery worked but both me and the doctor wouldn’t recommend surgery unless nothing else worked

I also noticed the conveyor belt effect. Of course, the more I eat, the more often that refilling of the rectum takes place. When I fast, the fecal flow to the rectum takes a break.
Hint for those who are constipated or want to trigger evacuation, sexual fantasy relaxes the sphincter and eases elimination.

Love Dr. Chung's videos. He's an expert in his field, and so caring and compassionate! Dr. Chung, it would be great if you could do a video on fiber tips for patients who have had bowel/colon surgery (bowel resection) and abdominal adhesions forming post surgery, many times years later. Not all fibers are good for this situation, and a video explaining pros and cons of various fibers and fiber supplements for folks having been through bowel resection. Sometimes, fiber makes the situation worse, in which case low residue may be better for some. Perhaps in the future you can do a video on this subect! I struggle with this al the time. (I've had 2 bowel resections due to endometriosis that wrapped and strangled my colon. Had the "bag" in between surgeries. I'm lucky enough to still be here, as the first surgery for a ruptured colon resulted in severe life threatening sepsis. That was 20 years ago, and I'm still here, alive, healthy, and well!) Thanks for all of your videos, so informative! I enjoy them all!

Try more fibrous foods, more dark green leafy veggies, more water, and coffee with some caffeine. Also consume lots of healthy fats like avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil, full fat butter, etc. Onions and garlic can help bec they are high in sulfur and magnesium. Try consuming mineral oil for periodic help. I like balance of nature fiber & spice supplement. It's hard to get down but seems to help my regularity. Alao consider raw ACV, and taking a good probiotic and digestive enzymes & tudca or bile salts. All those can help you develop a better microbial balance in your GI system and help you be more regular.
      Hope some of this helps!

Spot on this makes sense. Anxiety definitely can also cause constant pooing probably with diarrhoea. When your feeling well with no Piles, its normal poo and less often. I suffer from internal piles, and sometimes bleed before, after or during pooing. Sometimes bright red/pink blood with small thrombosed clot in it. What is that? My colonoscopy was all clear.

I don't have that problem... It takes me about 4 seconds to evacuate... sometimes a few secs longer if I am a little constipated. I never understood why so many other people spend so much time trying empty their colons into the shitter... With me on the other hand, it is the wiping process that can take me several minutes.

I've had frequent tenesmus for at least most of my life, but complicated by the fact that I'm also gassy and subject to frequent diarrhea. A common occurrence to me is a relatively hard bowel movement followed within hours by a softer, wetter one (often preceded by hours of flatus), at which point it's hard to tell whether it's progressing to frank diarrhea.

I have been doucheing after a bowel movement for about 20yrs as I really don't want anything left behind and I can tell you even if you don't think there is more left behind trust me there is and after doing this procedure I do each time I do a bowel movement you will feel much much better and completely done, my primary dr. claims it's not healthy to do all the time but it's worth it and you will feel much better, besides why would anyone want to leave anything inside and carry it around till next time,I dont.

After I wake up within 15 mins I always have to poop, and then when I get done and walk around about 10 mins more and get coffee, I always have to go poop a 2nd time. and sometimes a 3rd time, every morning and then I don't go the rest of the day. I don't understand why it doesn't just all come down at the same time.?

I'm the same way.. atleast I was until a recent issue messed it up..
My point is be happy you can go and don't walk around with the feeling that you have to go 24/7 because that's what I'm dealing with right now and it fuggin sucks

I never had this problem before I got my colonoscopy. Medicare made me have one and I haven’t been the same since. I wonder what the hell they did to me? Before the procedure, I went once a day every morning. Now I go several times a day and often have to get up in the middle of the night. This has been my experience with most surgeries I have had, I always end up worse than I was before I went in. WTF.

    • @Malcolm-Achtman

When you get a colonoscopy you sort of wipe out your natural gut microbiome along the way. You may have had a healthy microbiome prior to your colonoscopy and now it's been thrown off kilter. Dr. William Davis has written a book called "Super Gut," which provides many strategies to restore a microbiome back to being healthy.

I just learned that my hemorrhoids simply do not work the way all the rest of you folks experience. I never feel that "fullness" or notice anything like that at ALL after poopin'. When I'm done, I know it. And if I feel a round 2, it's definitely time to poop again. lol Really feel sorry for some of you folks going through this. This is a great channel and a great doctor. Glad I ran across this.
