NO ONE can ever compare to Whitney. They can sing their hearts out but Whitney's voice is much smoother, clearer and has a higher pitch that no other singer has been ever able to top (singing her songs i mean). Hudson's voice doesn's have that same smooth flow as Whitneys and I find her voice deeper. She has to work to get those high note where as Whitney sails right through them. It isn't even a challenge.

Whitney Houston is a legend. An icon who defined the standards of singing with her massive and elusive voice. Whitney's voice is special...cannot be duplicated. Jennifer has a nice voice but there is a heaviness to her voice that is a turn off. People forget that Whitney was the ultimate entertainer. When she performed with all of her "whitneyisms" she was an unstoppable force. She mesmerized you with her performances. She was genius and at the same time very human. Miss you dearly Whit!

As someone who supported Nip from the start....i can tell that as good as she sounds on this performance, it's STILL a half step down from the original key of this song! Go check out anything on RUclips from the 80's or early 90's and witness the true gift Whitney has unfortunately abused! I STILL love her, but even us die-hard fans notice the obvious difference.
Jennifer's voice is Whitney's with the volume turned up. WH voice is better I think because it is smoother and a more natural tone with no effort. JH is no pushover though, she definitely belongs in he same class.

You have to remember that Jennifer Hudson video was edit from American Idol. The show doesn't allow for the contestant to put to much emphasis on their vocals. If Jennifer was able to do it her way she would have been on Whitney's level.

People werent around long enough to really knw Patti. I personally thing Whitney has the greatest voice. Listen Voice any artist in 50yrs have heard. But patti can hit Higher notes, and hold longer keys. And her Range is just as solid as Whitneys. I grew up on both. I think wht makes Whit so special are tht she can literally sing ANYTHING and make it sound good, and own it. Not very many artists can do tht. Take Celine for example she can obviously hit keys just as high as Whit.

Jennifer's voice is Whitney's with the volume turned up. WH voice is better I think because it is smoother and a more natural tone with no effort. JH is no pushover though, she definitely belongs in he same class.

JHud sings whitney songs great but nobody sings whitney songs like whitney herself...You must stop and listen to their tones and ranges, they are different.....Whitney sings her songs with a compassion, powerful emotional that JHud hasnt grasp yet...and Im am sure she will let them do their thing and just watch
You have to remember that Jennifer Hudson video was edit from American Idol. The show doesn't allow for the contestant to put to much emphasis on their vocals. If Jennifer was able to do it her way she would have been on Whitney's level.

This is not a duet. This is just two videos that have been dubbed together. The performance of Whitney was at Billboard Music Awards in '94. Way before JH was on the scene. And Jennifer Hudson will never have the success that Whitney Houston enjoyed. She is a good singer but, she will never reach Icon status. Her voice can never be compared to Whitney's. No one's can. She was inspired by Whitney and mimics her technique but she doesn't sound like her. She isn't the second coming.

I love these two beautiful and different voices but THIS IS NOT A DUET!!! To call this video a 'duet' is misleading and to be quite honest, very annoying the way it cuts back and forth; there is no continuity, no flow! the sound quality of each video is different and doesn't blend. People werent around long enough to really knw Patti. I personally thing Whitney has the greatest voice. Listen Voice any artist in 50yrs have heard. But patti can hit Higher notes, and hold longer keys. And her Range is just as solid as Whitneys. I grew up on both. I think wht makes Whit so special are tht she can literally sing ANYTHING and make it sound good, and own it. Not very many artists can do tht. Take Celine for example she can obviously hit keys just as high as Whit.

I totally agree with you. Basically that's what I was saying when I said that Jennifer wasn't the second coming of Whitney. Whitney's voice is in a class all by it's self. It can't be imitated. She was the most awarded female artist in history. I've loved her voice since I heard her duet with Teddy Pendergrass on I'll Hold You in 1984 before she relaesed her first album.

Whitney just made Jennifer Hudson look mediocre... Whitney is a vocal masterpiece... Jennifer notes and control were horrible... Only thing she had was range... and little at that... Jennifer only sounds clear when she's holding a note... thats it... Whitney in her prime has never made that song sound mediocre and horrible like JHUD just did...

No I don't like this fusion, it's done clumsily and it grates on the ear. They are both different singers, and to me Whitney will always be the Queen. Are you trying to compare the two? Don't. Jennifer is a lovely singer, but Whitney is unique amongst singers - she reigns supreme.

It sounds like Whitney Houston is going higher than Jennifer. Whitney's vocal range was more higher and wider than Jennifer's. They both have beautiful voices though,but I noticed Whitney is going higher than Jennifer is.
