Bobby Charlton fantastic player for Utd and England, scored the 2-0 goals against Portugal to put England into the 1966 World Cup final, then another 2 to beat Benfica in the 1968 European Cup Final, to me the best of the very best.
George Best was in my opinion the greatest footballer ever!

Attacking hardly great all round midfielder but attacking no.
I wish david beckam and roy Keane could have made the list. However, none of the players you have mentioned in this list can be dropped. Thats the predicament when it comes to deciding on the best Man Utd players. There have been too many of them
Giggs isnt fit to lace the boots of George Best. He could ghost past players in a packed penalty box. Charlton and Ronaldo were great and Edwards ive never seen but he was by all accounys amazing. Best for Northern Ireland v Russia he was amazing, also v spain and of course in european cup final with the gteat Eusebio in the opposition. I saw him at fulham and he was well past his best and was still showing a touch ive never seen since. It was like the ball was slave to georges wishes. Its the one game i was so happy i went to. That was nearly 50 years ago but the atmosphere and excitement and buzz at craven cottage that day has never been surpassed. RIP George you was a legend not only for football but the girls all knew you performed like a rabbit even after a night out clubbing. My partner was hitch hiking across Iran on her way to Kabul and when the driver said country she said british and the iranian soldier said George Best. He really was the first superstar and the first player to earn £1000 a week but he would fill up stadiums. A great memory maybe im biassed as Ronaldo is a genius but for sheer skill i believe only Georgie had it all but by the early 1970s he was drinking maybe to cope with all the adulation and awful paparazzi.

Dilo best as you said was only 5 years at his peak and yes Giggs was over 20 years but it was levels. The ball of leather in bests era weighed a ton especially when the leather became saturated but despite this i cannot agree that any player ive seen before or since had the ball control and genius of Best. Its sad he wasnt in todays era. He would have been like mohammed Ali of football.

My Dad saw Duncan and said he was unbelievable. He would have been England’s Captain in ‘62 and most likely Moore would have not got the armband off him. Utd would have given the great Real Madrid team a real run. Real dominated the European Cup from 56-60. Utd were just hitting their stride in ‘58 when tragedy struck. We could have won quite a few ECs before ‘68 but sadly the team was almost destroyed. Sir Matt rebuilt the team and with Denis and George joining Bobby (3 Ballon D’or winners) we rose up again. Sorry, but this list has to contain the name of Duncan Edwards, to omit his name is an insult to all those who tragically lost their lives in the Munich Air Disaster.
In my opinion, Roy Keane should have been on the list. He is probably the best captain for Man United as well as PL. He was the captain on the field that maximised the performances of all players in the team. He was also the one who inspired Man United to beat Juventus in the semi final of the Champion League. While Paul Scholes dictated the play, it was Roy who was the machine of the team. Roy and Paul, together with David and Ryan, formed probably the best ever midfield in Man United and the PL. if I were the one to remove one player on the list to give way to Roy, I would take out C Ronaldo, no disrespect to him. C Ronaldo only reached his peak after he left Man United while the rest of the top 10 plus Roy reached their peak in Man United. Above is just my personal opinion. The extreme difficulty in picking the top 10 greatest players for the team only indicates how great a team Man United were, are and will be…..

The man who made me love this club was David Beckham.
Eric will alway's be Eric to recent supporter's but if you are including time played & goal's, why no Tommy Taylor? He made 166 appearances & scored 112 goals for the club compared to Eric who played 143 times & only scored 64 goals, both over 5 year's. I know the argument's about Eric's contribution to the team's developmemt, but Tommy's goal return & the mobilty he gave the forward line was sensational, especially up against real hard men in the opposition defences & what they were allowed to get away with!
Duncan is out on his own! Not being in this list is mind boggling. People don't know this but it became known later via Sir Matt that Real Madrid tried to sign Edward's, Charlton & Taylor!
Duncan Edwards and Tommy Taylor are really good calls. But so would be Roy Keane. And probably David Beckham and Nemanja Vidic too.
@@davidr1138 You have a point of course, but my comment's were to at least open people's eye's to the beginning's of the club's development under Sir Matt & put it out there were some real very special player's who should be on this list.

Duncan Edwards? The greatest Manchester United player, ask Bobby Charlton. I was on the tour of Old Trafford many years ago, the guide was a life long supporter and employee of the club. We were sat in the dug out and he enquired if we had any questions? Following the ones about the ground etc I asked in his time with the club considering how many great players had been there who did he consider the best, without pause the reply; "Duncan Edwards"

Why do these lists always always always forget the Busby Babes? Yes, Sir Bobby was one of them, but he wasn't the only one. Remember Mighty Duncan, Tommy Taylor, Eddie Colman, Roger Byrne, etc. They may have been lost in Munich, but they should never be forgotten.

I like the list and approve of the final name, Scholes is the name that all the big players/managers said they feared going against.

Johnny Carey was also a United player my dad said way better than Irwin and he said the brummie Duncan Edwards should be there as well we’re Chelsea fans but be honest when players are good their good.
I may be from Ireland,but i definitely feel Busby babe Duncan Edwards should be on that list. Eventho i cannot stand Roy Keane,perhaps he should be there too.By the way,my fave player anywhere of all time is Bobby Charlton,whose autograph i have TWICE!

Keane won the league seven times, the FA cup four times and also the European cup.

The balon dor was a joke until 1995 I’m not saying that players who won it before then didn’t deserve it but it was only awarded to players from who originated from Europe. Only European players won the award till then any players playing in Europe but from Brazil Argentina etc weren’t considered. Why do you think maradona never won it. To answer your question I’d take smichel out but I’d rate Keane over probably half of them

That is a tricky one m8, he was 18 sadly when he passed., barely started his career. My Dad and Uncle say he was the best they ever saw unfortunately he didn't get his chance :(

Ryan Giggs definitely worthy of his spot, The all time Greatest assist makers in Top English football, with the second at Manchester United being over 150 behind. Not a very nice person of the field by all accounts, but one can’t argue his quality on the field.

This is a joke, right? I'm a City fan, ffs, and even I can tell you that Duncan Edwards is not only the greatest United player of all time, he's the greatest player full stop. It's Edwards, Best, Charlton, Law and then you can argue about the rest.
Manchester United has been around for too long and is too big, too great and too successful a club to have a greatest players list of only 10 players! Perhaps a number such as 25 might be more appropriate.

Roy Keane was the most successful captain united ever had and in my opinion the best captain united ever had. 13 years there 7 premier leagues 4 fa cups champions league continental cup winner and player of the year in 2008 if you are basing your choices on success you are well off the mark.
