    [thank, you for you're video and you're time spent.] I, own a 2004, x type 3.0 jaguar. I, had the same part that went bad. so I carried the jaguar to the Dealership and let them fix it. 🙏

    Can I ask? I have a 2001 Jaguar Vanden Plas. It shifts hard into reverse and into drive. This usually after the car has been in a fast acceleration. Do you think the tcm could be the problem? The car is throwing no codes besides the o2 sensor code.

    Hi RealRacingGURU, I have a P1799-00 CAN transmission control module/ABS control module circuit malfunction, P1719-00 Engine torque signal, U0001-88 High speed CAN communication bus, P0500 vehicle speed sensor circuit malfunction, U1039 SCP (J1850) invalid oir missing data for vehicle speed and P1700 Transmission indeterminate failure, P132B Turbo boost control A performance
    2008 X-Type 2.2d Estate (90k km): usually but not always I get the spiral indicator lighting up and a message "transmission malfunction" when starting the engine and in gear selector "P" position. Then I turn off the engine, restart and usually it's ok then, I can drive as if the car would be 100% ok. Lots of codes and I am asking myself if the canbus itself has a problem or if some of the control modules (TCM?) might be broken? May I ask you for your thoughts? Battery is 100% - I had it tested at the battery center.

    Thanks for the Video. I have the same similar issue but the fault code was P1601 for the Transmission Control Module. And I was told that the TCM needs to be coded but we changed the ECU, Cluster, Key, BCM. Because it was written on the Dashboard Security Failed that is why we changed that. And the Car is starting now. But GEARBOX FAULTY still on the Dashboard. Please any advise

    • @shaunsart
      @shaunsart  2 года назад +2

      tcm does not need coded, you just need same one as you took out. Gearbox fault often comes up if youve fiddled with things and its just a fuse that goes as very sensitive. Its the top right fuse on its own in behind the glovebox. Try that

      @@shaunsart But how I wish I can see the picture of where the fuse box location so that I can check and fix this, because I need to tell you the Car is Jaguar X-type 2003 Model am confused because many people keep saying it needs to be coded to the VIN number of the ECU, Cluster, BCM and Key of the previous car we took it out from. Please I need more englightment about this.
      Thanks and Good bless.

      Only main garages, dealers can reset I think. These can take 50 Kms of driving to recalibrate and or 30 mins after fitting to align with car's main computer. Also check the fuses and relays, there are designated ones for TCM. These can blow when the TCM goes bad.

      And check your grounds. Jags don't like dirty corroded grounds. The most bizzare electrical issues start happening.
      Then you spend lots and lots and lots of money replacing parts (that really worked) until you read an obscure decades old forum post (one sentence among thousands) than mentions a grounding point you didn't know your ©%/*+%©™ Cat had.
      Then after you scrub the rust buildup off everything works perfect.
      It's stops raining outside. Your wife suddenly starts acting nice. Your housecat starts using the litter box....
      Cleaning your grounds is a cure all for everything.

    Hay look I don't know if u will read this but if you still have the xtype and still remember what happened when it happened or at least tell me what side effects happend (like headlight won't work) I have the same codes and p1643 for the fuel pump monitor low input and p1643 gear box fault any help is appreciated

    • @shaunsart
      @shaunsart  2 года назад

      I’d check the fuse right at the top in the footwell. It’s a little above the main group of fuses, I’ve had that blow twice causing gearbox fault and dipped beam not working after working on the car. I still use the car every day btw

      @@207nuckelheadgarage7 never heard of that before sorry, it’s usually the brake switch goes, restricting it into park and there is a tab under the gear lever that can be pushed down to manually take it out if needed

      Yeah I never had this problem with a car before I never owned a Jaguar before this is my first time. I thought it was the electronic shifter so I bought a new one put in wasn't that now the only thing to change before I take the transmission out and replace it is the transmission control module
