The short answer is NO; but I do think there are many PC gamers who may ALSO buy a PS5, which is what I believe Sony are hoping.
I don’t think any of Sony’s executives are that deluded, as to think that many gamers are going to completely give up their PC library.
However, there may be a few people with really low rigs (10 series cards or below) who may simply decide it’s cheaper just to move to console, but I don’t think that will be very many.

I use all for their specific strengths - PS5 for the range of exclusives, Nintendo for their exclusives, and PC gaming for those big AAA games, where I can take advantage of the ray tracing and high FPS. PC is also my 'go to' for any single player game that has a big modding scene. My Xbox is literally the only thing that gathers dust lately, with not much use for it but there's always going to a spot in my collection up for the latest Playstation/Nintendo console!

Brother, if I had a PC that was weaker to a PS5, I would upgrade my PC, not my PS5. PC already has all Xbox games, most PS games, all Nintendo games if you emulate, and PC exclusives games. There are mods, free online, free cloud saving, other emulators for older consoles, portable gaming on devices like the Steam Deck, upscaling features like DLSS, XeSS, and FSR, no closed off platform, customization options, and more.
It would be a straight downgrade, even for people have weaker PC that a PS5 to go out and buy a PS5.

While I started out my gaming life on consoles (Atari 2600)....once I moved out of my parents house after graduating I bought my own PC....that was around 1998 I believe.
That was the only PC I bought, as I have built every one I have owned since then... I have been gaming at over 60 FPS since that time and will never go back to the limitations of console gaming.
Not to mention PC has a vastly larger selection of games for me to play....and I can still go back and play my favorites from 20 years ago whenever I wish. I also use my PC to write code, edit video, record mix and edit audio, surf the web (like now) and ....depending on some of the past hardware I have owned....help heat my man cave.
As a PC gamer...there is absolutely no incentive to switch to ANY console for me. Consoles have fewer games available, the games are more costly, there is an additional REQUIRED fee if I wish to play any of those games online....and they come with a shelf life. I can upgrade parts of my PC at will when I need to...but in the past I have gone almost 10 years with little in the way of upgrades and was still able to play all but the most demanding games at over 60fps.

  • @plummleys4514

So if the idea of trying to force PC gamers over to PS5 is the plan.. then already this has failed because the current strategy hasn't changed. Currently we are looking at every 2 years for a PC release unless that will be shortened to a year... No one knows as of yet.
So if nothing has changed and people didn't go out to buy a PS5 to play a sequel then this is another HUGE mistake Playstation has made. Don't they want to make money.??? easy money mind you.
The issue is if a PC user already has a PS5 then obviously they are not going to buy one.. but that also means most users have already decided on not getting one.
Everyone else has to justify spending 500 or more for a console, up to 100 for the game and then around 100 for PS+ for the year and maybe every year depending on if they continue using the console.
that's like 700 min to play 1 game.. you could buy another PC better than a ps5 or actually upgrade you PC to future proof it even more..
The most common of PC gamers game at 1080p native and with fps up to 120 as most PC gamers prefer performance over graphical fidelity.. again if they currently have that build they would rather spend that 700 on upgrading their PC. If their card can use upscaling tech then of course they would.
A PS5 runs games at an upscaled 720p resolution... so again from a PC gamers perspective 720p upscaled is a downgrade.
Now one thing to mention regarding exclusivity that I haven't heard anyone mention..
The strategy is to entice PC players with the 1st instalment of a game.. then say if you want to play the next instalment earlier you need to buy a console....... so the question is... does that mean all new franchises will release day and date on PC but the sequel will be timed exclusive to console????
Interesting question as why would a PC user potentially wait up to 2 years to play the first game after it released on PS5 and then up to 6 years for the next installment....( Development time and then 2 year waiting after release on console first )
NO PC gamer would entertain that, any buzz would be dead!!!!!
The whole Playstation PLAN is based on sequel's!!!!!! seems like a flawed strategy to me... i can see them within 2 years changing to day and date. Sony just doesn't understand PC gamers or respect them for that matter!!!

    • @ReforgeGaming

    • @plummleys4514
      @plummleys4514 Месяц назад +1

@@ReforgeGaming Doubling down would indicate that they would do more to make this plan more successful than it currently is... if it is being succesful?.
But the plan has not changed.. its still the same... my question is, how are they doubling down to entice?
IMO They are currently worried about making people switch from PS5 to PC or even PS4 to PC.
The XBOX is already a different discussion.
COD could be a Shift in peoples main console play and spend ( MTX which is something that Playstation is relying alot on currently )
It seems to me they are expecting XBOX sales to rise due to COD so they dont want to give tent pole exclusives day and date to pc.. without that the playstation then has really to nothing to offer.. kinda like xbox currently!!!
the next year is going to be an interesting one as i believe momentun is going to swing a little... i still expect playstation to be in a strong postion at the end of this year those. We wont really know anything for about 2 years those as we need to see the full impact of cod on xbox... but also to see if the same plan for pc gamers works for Sony.

For what? GOW, Last of Us, Spider-Man? Why would any PC gamer buy a $500 system for a 20 hour single player game when all those Playstation games go to PC, and all their GAAS hit day n date on PC? The requirements for PS5 games aren't that intense for PC, you don't need a 4090, the minimum specs are extremely easy to run.
PC gamers will just upgrade their rig or wait. Exclusives are dying finally, and I see Playstation releasing all their games day n date to PC in the next few years, if they can end their drought of no 1st party games. If they try to force a launcher on PC to compete with Steam, that'll be hilarious to watch.
PC is a much better ecosystem and has access to almost every single gaming service that has Steam, Xbox, Epic, Cloud gaming. Can also emulate purchased Nintendo games on PC with better performance which is perfectly legal.

You'll always be able to brute force higher performance from a PC, that's not the point.
The gap between them is smaller than ever (on release), we get pro versions keeping the gap smaller, and with diminishing returns, you need to spend quadruple the money, to play the exact same game. They wont. If God of War Ragnorok, Horizion 2, Ratchet, etc are all seeing success on PC and Sony has now made people confortable with a 2 year delayed release window there is no incentive to buy the hardware if you just dropped $2000 on a beast PC. Sony has segretated their sales over 2 years now. Sure Microsoft does this to, but the month to month subscriptions to Gamepass sales plus ad-hoc game sales on the day of release is far different than 50 million players have the opprotunity to by the game here- then 50 million more 24 months later.
Spider Man 2 is appropaching profitiablity. It is not profitable. It will be after the PC release. That is based on 10 million copies to. So Sony has managed to create a business environment where 10 million sales don't make you profitable and that amount of sales is the sales threashold on the platform. That is rougly 15 to 20 % of all owners.
Either the hardware has to come down drastically in price to get more software attachment or the PS5 business is setting Sony up for one day a hardwareless Playstation generation by like the inevitable PS7. In 10 to 20 years, what does the console business look like. It will probably be software applications on your TV.

Are you disagreeing that price drop is necessary for the PS5 games business to be profitable on just one machine?
Ultimately, these companies will find a way to make the money. People shocked by Microsoft's decisions need to keep in mind how much money is at play to. 1 Million Seconds was sometime last week. 1 Billion Seconds was like 1990. Microsoft spent close to 200 Billion between all acquisitions.
Even a console that is 70 Million in sales strong doesn't return that investment when just the PS4 CoD business 2 years ago was worth 800 million.
Sony can sustain a 1 machine profitablity business for their developers, Microsoft simply can not. Sony isn't doing enough to say they care enough about the PS5 hardware. When PS3 struggled they moved and hard. Had the PS5 been released with this same strategy in 2006- it would have been a commerical mess. Sony dropped PS3's price and make content only for PS3. Sony simply isn't trying to move machines because they don't want to take any loss now that PC is a viable solution.
Microsoft would have had to have like 150 Million console sales to sustain that investment.

Most people don't, especially the ones out here desperately pushing narritives so hard. There was a time when PC was in a league of its own, that's where "master race" comes from. Diminishing returns, and advances in home consoles (when they are new) have shrunken that gap to the point where the games are virtually the same across both platforms. You can have games at 1440p 60-120fps, some with ray tracing, on a home console. That's impressive.
You PC guys take what's possible to achieve on a PC, and apply it to all PCs, which isn't the reality of the situation, and even then it only amounts to running the same damn games, with a little resolution and frame rates.

You're missing the point entirely, it's the fact that games with the highest graphical fidelity and quality, are now coming from console, not the other way around. That's just interesting as gamer. Nobody debating you will always have the ability to have better hardware on a computer, but better games are coming from console.
Even PC gamers revolve around console, because all the main video game developers revolve around console. Most PC owners upgrade when a console generation starts, because they know the graphical fidelity is going up across the board now. PC is no longer a separate category as it once was, and if you want to play the latest greatest games on release, you're actually better off on console. You aren't really gaining that much by waiting years to get it on PC, just to run it at a higher frame rate. They bring a select few and those are the ones that have given them enough data to convince them that this strategy is indeed working even if it's a small percentage. Don't be surprised if they even roll back on porting others over as there are a few things worth noting: (1) Nishino has been heavily focused on ONLY the console gaming space for years and now he's co-CEO with Herman and (2) Nixxes has been given more remaster work to "branch" off PC porting. Besides, people are also underestimating the crowd that will spend to get a PS5 just to be able to play titles like GTA VI, Astrobot or Ghost of Tsushima 2 as soon as they drop.

What I look for in Games: Gameplay. Then: story cohesion (and a lack - read: no - woke crap). Graphics, looks, how it sounds? Meh. Play well? Yes. Look? No.
Your mistakes here are out of this world. Are there some "PC Gamers" who'd buy a console of any type? Sure - they exist. But are there PC Gamers with rigs less powerful than the PS5 who are still playing and enjoying PS5 games? Certainly. Minimum requirements to play the game are listed, and most Steam information shows that those gamers who have given their data over fall well in line to play any PS5 game.
"Oh, but it won't look as good!" Who. Cares? I wouldn't, and for a time I was one of those with a lesser rig. My current PC runs laps around the PS5 and likely your mythical PS5-Pro (not yet even confirmed, by the by!) And I STILL don't care if graphically one game looks better than others. I will never get Ragnarok - it's woke and utterly boring in places, and that's just by the "let's plays" I've watching on YT. Same for Spider-Man 2: utterly disrespectful to the source IP and chock full of DEI Sweet Baby nonsense. So: never getting them. Wouldn't even grace them with pirating them. I shit on them from a great height.
Ghost of Tsushima? Still not got it. Why? My rig could play it on max settings with narry a hitch... and it does look good (it's a better, more polished, and far more respectful version of Assassin's Creed than we've had FROM an AC game in many a year). Cos of the PSN bullshit Sony is pulling. I'm in the UK...
"Wait" I hear you say: "you don't need PSN to play the single pla..."
Let me stop your drivel right there: I don't care about that. I will not buy a game unless I have full access to all I paid for. And part of GoT is locked off unless I hand over my personal ID to prove who I am. Also, even if I didn't mind doing that, they are restricting the game needlessly to 180 countries... so until everyone gets the chance to own it, I refuse to pay Sony a penny for it. Yo-ho-ho for me if I REALLY cannot wait... and I feel no beginnings of frustration over waiting. GoT is good... but I play better already. So... meh!
Anyway, back to the point: I'm in the UK, and I ask you: who the f does Sony think they are demanding that I prove my identity to set up a PSN account? Passport? They want my f'ing PASSPORT? Or Driving Licence? Or UK ID card?? Do they think their games are worth so much that they can ask that of me?
Do you know what's needed to set up a Steam account? Or Ubisoft? Or Blizzard? Or Bioware? Or Epic Games? Or GOG? Or EA Origin?
Email address, create a username, create a password. Some ask for your DOB and nation of origin. Those last two, you can make up if you wish - just make a record of it in case you need to contact their help-desk at any point. NOT ONE of them ask me to then prove my ID to activate the account. NOT. ONE.
And Sony thinks they can do that to on PC? That's why I refused to get PSN for Helldivers 2. And even IF their accounts were just like any of the others I've mentioned to set up, I'd STILL not buy any more of their shit until they sell to everyone! Hell, WHY is PSN not in those 180 nations that they've de-listed? If it was just like any other online account and just email address and such needed, they wouldn't be so f'ing limited in where they can sell?
(Side point: even if I didn't mind proving my identity to Sony to play their mid-games... who is stupid enough to do so and provide that information to a company who has their knickers around their ankles as they're being railed by the closest passing hacker on the regular? Cos either Sony's the most inept company on Earth at keeping their data (and yours) secure, or they're "selling" your data by leaving the barn door open deliberately. At least I won't be part of their "Next Exciting Data Breach Event"...)
If all future PS ports to PC are going to be behind a PSN account firewall (even for single player games) then I'll simply not bother. I'm losing nothing. None of their games are so good that I'm missing out. Walking simulators between cut-scenes, with some fighting situations now and again that others have done already - and some even better than Sony's offerings. Batman Arkham series is better than Spider-Man for combat, for instance. But in the end, the best Sony game is just... "Okay, good game" compared to what PC gamers have available to us. A "Story on rails" is what they're all like, from what I can tell, so once completed (or watched online with a let's play) then what need to I have to "pay for it and play it" myself? Nothing new there for me at all. "Mass Effect" it isn't, not by a long shot. Certainly none of them are a patch on Balder's Gate 3.
So why would any PC Gamer "upgrade" to a PS5 or a Pro? They could more easily (and more cheaply) upgrade their PC's if needed... and EVEN IF they are only then just on par with the PS5 for graphics, the versatility of the PC sinks the Playstation. AND they don't have to pay MORE to play online, as you ponies do with PS+! And they'd not lose their library of games going back to the 80s, in some cases.
Those lovely games from PS1, PS2, even PS3 era? PC either HAVE them available... or can emulate. And you want us to "upgrade" to a downgraded, limited, 30FPS machine (that's headache forming right there)... just to play a game that'll come to PC anyway in a year or so? "But the gra..." Oh, look... a GPU that's the same as PS5 system, for 200 dollars. WIN! You were saying?

As a LIFE LONG GAMER with well over 30 years in the scene, I can tell you that instead of PC gamers moving to PlayStation, Sony should worry about PlayStation gamers moving to PC. I own all the consoles. All the generations and I hardly touch them compared to my gaming PC. If PlayStation forsees their future in PC, then they should really consider trying to acquire Steam/Valve. I game everyday for a couple hours.... most of which is on my PC while my PS5, Series X etc.... collect dust. Console gaming is extremely cookie cutter. It's the same shit over and over again. PC gaming offers a wild ride of fresh ideas. Most of these indie games are running circles around most AAA games. PLOT TWIST: I'm also a lifelong PLAYSTATION PREFERRED GAMER.... I'm slowly moving away from the ecosystem. That's not a good thing for PlayStation IMO. Those are just my thoughts, now how about YOUR THOUGHTS?

All the data points to the opposite happening. Leaving PS to come to PC is more expensive. You leave behind your library. And you have to wait for the big PlayStation titles. Spending more to get less and wait is the opposite of what consumers do. They pay to be first and get in early.

@@ReforgeGaming Yeah, I just don't feel as confident in PlayStation releasing the tent pole games with any sort of consistency anymore. The silence has been deafening. Which brings up another issue I have with Sony, is thier messaging or lack there of. We used to get yearly showcases which drove gamers to adopt the console during the PS4 era. These State of Plays which have featured everything BUT PlayStation Studio games is getting old. Honestly man, I just feel like PlayStation entered this gen resting on their laurels. I need some BANGERS! Anyway, thanks for responding. I love the channel!

Will PC gamers move on to yearly subription fees, more expensive games and a console that needs replacing after 5 to 7 years? Nope. We've already dabbled in temporary consoles. Console gamers are just young PC gamers that haven't opened their eyes yet.
The definitive Edition of GTA 6 on PC will be superior and worth the wait. My PC is ancient, I cheat by avoiding upgrade costs with Geforce Now, my PC runs tons of games that shouldn't work at all. God of War Ragnarok user reviews on PC will be horrendous, let's see how Sony handle enforcing PSN on PC.

Hilariously enough, I'm one of those people who never owned a PS4 (Crazy since I owned all the others). I was fully PC gaming at the end of the 7th gen, and all throughout the 8th. I had the money, noticed how well the PS4 was doing, and decided to buy the next console. I bought a PS5 at the beginning of the gen and have fully integrated back into the ecosystem.
I still have my PC, too. I pride myself on my built PC, but I was already in the FOMO mindset from last gen, and wasn't doing it again.
