Chevy quit, he wasn't fired. He also only worked the first season and was promptly replaced with Bill Murray.
Then when he returned to host , he and Bill got into a fight, right?
@@MrMovielover17 lol! Yeah. They Really didn't like each other. But they were perfect together in Caddyshack. Great movie.

"Seems people just don't have a taste for testicle no more. "
I still remember his very short-lived and very funny talk show. It was the only talk show that was actually funny and to this day, I don't know why they canceled it. He had some young star I had never heard of as a guest. The kid was so full of himself. Chevy had his chin on his palm, which rested on his desk, and he appeared enwrapped in the conversation as the ladies in the audience cooed. Chevy asked his guest what the hardest thing about being famous was, to which the young man replied, "Before I was famous, nobody listened to a thing I said. It was like I was invisible." Chevy continued to stare awkwardly without saying a word. Finally, the young man broke the silence to get a response to what he had said about fame. Chevy acted as if woken from a trance and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn’t hear what you said." I never laughed so hard watching a talk show. The audience exploded with laughter. That's when I realized Chevy Chase was a comedic genius.
Chevy had voluntarily left the show to move out of State and get married. He never regretted it especially after getting movie roles.
Met Chevy Chase several times. I always heard he was rude and mean. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Yeah most times I've heard negative things about him its been people whove worked with him. Maybe he's a really nice guy just very opinionated about comedy and his work.
Could be work related
His humor is weird and I can see how some people, see that as rude.

Snl wouldn't have sucked so bad for so many years if they kept them around
There has been lots of people fired fro SNL. I’ve met Chevy a couple times and he was super nice to me and others
He's one of the main reasons for SNL even having a second season.

@@slaapliedje I mean his career acting in his movies died.
I saw some negative videos about what he was like to work with.
I noticed his movie career took off and people who liked his work enjoyed it very much.
I saw his TV work and the only thing about that was he seems condescending in his method of joking.
I think those who make these "after your career" type stories, don't actually interview the actor or understand his comedy the way he means it.
He always had a presence that surpassed others, so I think he is physically dominating, and being educated, and we'll to do, he gives off a persona that works as a thread, maybe, through his work.
I like him, and I have some of his work yet to see.

*Chevy told me the name of a song…*
This happened during the Summer of 1984. Fleetwood Mac had a popular song on the radio, but I could never discern the words they were singing on the refrain. Well, one sunny day, Chevy shows up at my truck-stop with the dark-green open-top convertible that he drove in one of his movies. He sat in the driver’s seat, parked almost in front of the front doors of the main building, listening to the radio. I stood next to the passenger side, watching Chevy “groove” to the tunes, when he suddenly said “Get in!” So I did. On the moment I got seated, the mystery Fleetwood Mac song came on. I immediately told Chevy that I loved the song, but that I could never figure out the words. Chevy immediately replied “RHIANNON!” You see, I had never heard of that name before, and that is why I could never discern what the band was singing.
*It's a song about an old Welsh witch.* 🧙🏻♀️
@@rose4490 You are correct. A short time later, about 10-feet from where I sat in Chevy's convertible, I met the entire Fleetwood Mac band. At the time, they were going around the country, promoting their _TUSK_ album. The two women in the group (Christine and Stevie) were having a blast constantly repeating a "sound" effect that they do during a song called _My Little Demon._ They kept doing...
"rRrRrOOooo!!... _rrr rrr rrr_ ROOoOoOooo!!"
...which sounded like a bunch of hounds, tied up in a barnyard.
Mick Fleetwood told me that, for the first time ever, he would actually be singing during one of the songs. Stevie told me about her personal make-or-break struggle to independently write her first truly monumental song, which I think was _Landslide._ She told me about her early days, when she was absolutely fed-up with working as a waitress. This naturally led to all the members of the band talking to me about the band's early days, and how, at one point, they were nearly at each other's throats. All in all, they seemed really happy to have put their bad days behind them, and to have observed, all across the country, how popular and well-received their _TUSK_ song was.
@@user-ud6ui7zt3r whoa. cool story bro. 😒 tell us another one.
@@peternorton5648 Well, I have a similar story about the night (actually, about 2am in the morning) when Bruce Springsteen showed-up at my truck-stop. Again, while talking to Bruce, I learned a new word. Here's what happened...
I'm just coming out of the Men's Room at my truck-stop, and straightening my uniform (which looked really sharp; it was tailored very well; it made me look sort of like I was an officer in the US Air Force), when walking right across my path, and headed for the restaurant section, was Bruce Springsteen. He was so drunk, he could barely stand up, let alone walk. The moment he saw me, he said "Hold out yer hand!" So I did. He put $1 in my palm, and told me to go outside and gas-up his limousine. I snickered a little bit, and headed straightway for his limo. Outside, parked right at the FULL SERVICE gas pumps, was a long, black limousine. Standing patiently at the rear of the car was the rather portly chauffeur. I asked him "How are we going to do this? It's my job to put gas in the car." Not missing a beat, the chauffeur said "...and it's _my_ job to handle the car!" So we took turns. The chauffeur removed the gas cap, and I inserted the pump nozzle. When I finished filling the tank, I removed the nozzle, and the chauffeur replaced the gas cap. I then walked back over to my attendant's shed. About 10 minutes later, holding two cans of beer, Bruce came outside, looking to find me. He came over to my shed, handed me a beer, and told me to drink a toast with him. We drank to the sentiment...
NEVER SURRENDER!
Then Bruce asked me a bunch of questions about my view of the world, and he brought up the topic of wars (WW2, Korea, Viet Nam), and somehow, we got talking about my Dad. I told Bruce that my Dad was draft-age, and had just graduated high school, when the Korean War broke out. I told Bruce that my Dad didn't have to fight in the war, because he instead was permitted to work for a nearby dairy farmer, endlessly tending to and milking the dairy cows. Bruce then said, "Oh!... yer dad got a deferment!" I then asked "What's a deferment?" Bruce then explained to me that the military would forego drafting someone for various reasons, one of which included claiming that you were the only worker on a dairy farm. So, you see, in your travels in this world, you can suddenly find yourself learning new things, including words that you have never heard before, from the darndest situations, and in the course of the darndest chance meetings. By the way, the reason Bruce showed-up at my truck-stop was because he had just finished performing at the Carrier Dome (in Syracuse NY), and back in those years, my truck-stop was the only "late night" place to stop at, for about 80 miles, in any direction.

Chevy was really a funny guy when he was in his prime
I think it's hard for people to keep up with comedy and the times. Comedy typically is a younger person's game. When he had that t v show not too too long ago I laughed but mainly so due to my bias.
The problem with Chevy Chase was that he never changed with the times. His humor never left the 80’s. Networks threw big money at him with little to no profit/ratings. His late night talk show did a fatal blow to both his career and reputation. He was not prepared to be interviewing others and it was horrible. He did have a chance to say no, but that money was too tempting.
I just said that. Comedy is typically a young person's game, And unless you change with the times, it's hard to have the newer generations think you are funny. I forgot about his tv show interviewing.
What you are probably referring to is his rumored addiction to drugs back in the 70s. Like a lot of Hollywood, there are rumors that he had a problem with coke or speed and that he went to clinics to try cleaning up a couple times during the 80s. Personally i don't care either way what he was like behind the scenes, he seems like a good performer and it's too bad we don't have more stuff like The Three Amigos from him.

Chevy has high class arrogance
He is decended from very upper class East Coast ancestry.
What do you expect, he was raised that way !
There a lot more people out there that are probably far more arrogant than he. It's funny, they always want to bring up racial issues, but no one ever brings up the utter contempt the upper class has for average people, they regard us as animals. It may not be about race, but it is no different. It's exactly the same mentality. But they are the ones controlling the media, so they tend to keep racial strife up in order to keep the spotlight off of them and their horrifically disgusting behavior.

Excellent presentation Jaiden.
To believe that nothing creates something... that's a lunatic blind faith. Some folks will engage in a lifetime of mental gymnastics to try to avoid accountability to The Uncaused Cause.
