- The first day of testimony in the Alex Murdaugh double murder trial begins Thursday as prosecutors begin laying out their argument that he killed his wife and son at their family estate.
Murdaugh is charged with the June 2021 killings of his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, and his adult son, Paul Murdaugh, at their Moselle property at the Hampton and Colleton County line. Prosecutors and law enforcement say they were killed with a shotgun. The defense maintains their client is innocent and say law enforcement rushed to judgment in pointing the finger at Alex Murdaugh.

Buster's demeanour is of a cold, heartless individual, not even a tear looking at his brother's brains, let alone his mother.
The courtroom isn't viewing the monitors/photos......only the jury and legal teams can see photos.
Might be in shock? But i agree…Buster’s his fathers son.
Early on,there was a smirk, almost a smile, as well, while he was listening to this body cam video.....creepy A/F
He gave off really bad vibes!
Agree
You think AM could have found a better attorney. His lead counsel comes off as a used car salesman. That team fumbles around like bunch of amateurs.
My thoughts exactly!
I love this judge! His non verbals are at times hysterical! Like did YOU JUST SAY THAT!
The defense attorney is a mess
During the entire trial, locals spoke often of the wild hogs. It is horrendous to think the bodies were left for an hour before 911 was called!😮😢
These old lawyers are pitiful. They can’t hear
Harpoolitan can barely walk
😂😢😂They didn't do a very good job! IMO. Just bullied witnesses!
I love how attentive the judge is to his courtroom. mho
I love the no nonsense judge!
Diversity hire
This Defense attorney needs to get his shit together and just a question. He is losing the attention of the jury. Is he working for free or for oxy meds?
Lol
It's really odd there are no security cameras recoding who comes on the property at all times - especially for an attorney, with all that money, those dozens of guns & the supposed animous created by the boat accident. Odd. They would have solved the whole thing.
According to the Netflix series on it, there was but with the cops being in their back pockets it disappeared.
Agreeed but I don't want to immediately assume he is guilty just based off that.
No, there were never cameras on the property. The cam mentioned in the Netflix series was a private investigator who placed one near the road when she was investigating the boating accident. But also, most people would assume they had cameras all over the place. That's another reason I don't buy the unknown assailant crap. They wouldn't know either if cameras were everywhere.
@@christyinthecarolinas is it legal for a private investigator to do that?
It’s not unusual IF there are drug transactions going on. Please notice I said IF.
I sure like this judge.
@@Julzkai I totally agree with you. He handled this courtroom exceptionally well.
Boy Mr Harpootlian asks stupid questions when cross examining this witness.
Someone mentioned no cameras and I wondered myself. My house is small and we have cameras front, back and side formal plus a Ring system
Buster is stone cold like his dad,and unfortunately I think he will betray his mother and brother, the girl he's dating must have major problems.
What do you expect? You want him smiling? Camera's are flashing on him constantly. Apparently after the verdict when he was out of the courthouse, he was fine, and it was reported that after the camera's were off, he broke down and almost collapsed. Because his father is a murderer, stop making the whole family weird. People tend to do that and it's not right. If you're father was high on drugs and murdered your sibling and mother, does that make you a bad person because you are related?
Totally agree, Buster is most likely a murderer too, what a bunch of savages. Most humans would be a total wreck hearing / seeing all this evidence about your mom and brother. Just so sick and twisted
No trail cameras ?
Love how everybody thinks they are more qualified than the actual lawyers.
Everyone in the comments has a Law degree🤷🏿♀️
I don't have a law degree. It doesn't mean I would fail the bar exam. Yould probably have to look up the definition of Jurisprudence but I can quote it verbatim. Probably everyone in the jury box doesn't have a law degree. With that said Alex Murdaugh does have a law degree and look how stupid he is! Any questions?
It’s crazy how they didn’t apprehend Alex like “he couldn’t be a suspect “? Hmm
At this moment they had zero evidence - that’s why there was a follow up interview
Mr Harpootlian seems to have lost his touch on cross examining witnesses. He does a lot of hemming and hawing and stammering, and just seems basically unprepared. So annoying to watch.
On the other hand…Mr Waters is clear and concise and well prepared while questioning and cross examining witnesses.
This is day 2 not day 1 of the trial. The judge said that himself
Thank you.
I understand not showing some pictures that were disturbing but why could we not see at least the tire tracks
Buster doesn’t seem to mind seeing gruesome pictures of his dead brother w/ his brains blown out?! This family is friggin weird.
Of course not! According to the Netflix series about them, he's a murderer just like dear old dad.
@@jaymee76 There's a Netflix series? Do tell...
To be fair, the family can't see the images. That's one of the reasons why they covered the monitors during the trial.
The people in the courtroom, including Buster, are not viewing the photos. Only the jury is seeing them. The monitors are all covered with paper.
@@KianaG1280 there is one on Disney+, and HBOmax as well, from what I ubderstand
I hope he gets a fair trial
Alex gives me closet Dennis Rader vibes
Is there anywhere I can watch this trial in order
Law and Crime Network has it
I usually just type in Alex Murdaugh trial Day 1,2,3 etc…
Atleast thank them or something lol.
@@Munsy42 I do this as well but it seems they are out of order when I do that (who takes the stand first second etc). I’ll try the other suggestion too. Thanks for your reply.
@@Munsy42 oh you are the other suggestion. Lol. Thanks so much. I’ll try this.
Alex was overly concerned whether they were dead with the police when any reasonable thinking human being would know without a doubt they were dead! Harpootlian is sickening with his condescending attitude looking bully as always
All that money and no security cameras? I find that just hard to believe.🤔
Based on what you've learned thus far, do you actually believe they'd want security cameras on their property???🤔
@@seliahh9451 exactly!
Why is that first cop so nice to the DA and is very prepared to answer his questions but when it comes to the defense attorney he seems extremely.......scared? uncomfortable? uncooperative? I keep wondering if because the Murdaugh family has been prominent in the community if this was some sort of relation to that. Someone had some beef with them. Maybe someone in the city? I just know any time you are in the public eye, people that you don't even know hate you for some imaginary made up stuff. Also, tire tracks have not been preserved?!?! Um. What? um. What?
Could Alex maybe leaned on a vehicle to aim at Paul, hence the 5"2 height?
Has ANYONE noticed Buster SMILING off and on through the video of the police at the house when the bodies were found? Is this not the STRANGEST THING????? WTF IS THERE TO BE SMILING ABOUT?????
Yup. I noticed he smirked at times, looked entirely bored, showed little to no emotion even during the most graphic testimony and during verdict and sentencing. Something off with the entire family, it seems.
Daniel Greene has a sour attitude toward everyone. The same guy who drove drunk in a police vehicle, wrecked, and killed his own small child. That sure didn't "make the news". People need to start demanding answers on this issue
Nice nose picking by Alec’s lawyer @ 1:13:05! Dude, you know you’re live on camera.
😅😂
Good grief!
😂and he was the best of all the defense team!😮😂
I just heard the juror foreman, James, that gave an interview this morning (03/07/2023), is brother to the K9 deputy that testified. He works for SLED, I came here to see if they resemble or anything-what do y’all think??
He sounds like a muppet character in that body cam footage
Alex Murd(erer)augh testimony - "I ain't do nuffin."
Terrible grammar! My phone even showed "translate to English"!😂
I am so disgusted by the lack of respect shown by the 3 (reporters, I assume) individuals who are sitting behind the young woman who is wearing purple, all directly behind the prosecution team. I am not quite certain what these three male individuals find to be so comical, but this is a double murder case and there is nothing funny about the seriousness of this crime. The behavior is not only disrespectful to the court, but all parties involved. It is also incredibly rude to have side-bar conversations while court is in order. Kudos to the first officer on the scene for maintaining a professional affect throughout the process of questioning that he endured while on the witness stand. Lastly, if you are going to be a lawyer, please learn to work a computer before you enter a courtroom to defend your client!! Unreal.
The white headed guy is an attorney in Columbia. Appears to be socializing.
What I find disrespectful is his son smirking and smiling while they are talking about his mom and bro being murdered
@@silvams1976
Oh, that's Buster. He's no better than dear old dad.
OMG. That first cop is so infuriating!! Have you ever put booties on in a crime scene? I don't recall" Seriously?????????? He would rather make himself look good than cooperate? OH my gosh. "I dont know" "I don't recall" It's not his job???? To freaking not step into blood? He was CLEARLY groomed by the prosecutor. It's annoying. He doesn't even take time to think, just what can make him look good. AND he is making that annoying big eyes, I'm totally honest and clueless face. Notice his super raised eyebrows? He looks deceptive I would never want him at a crime scene. He didn't even askk further about the boat case, not even a single question. I know many law enforcement officers. They are generally curious and ask a ot of questions. He seemed like an expert when answering the prosecutor but then "all of a sudden" he doesn't know, he's "not an expert" on preserving tire tracks. Any ding dong knows they shouldhave been preserved. Ugh. Not good law enforcement.
When he said it wasn’t his job, I wanted to tell him, he was right because he was fired immediately. There 2 murdered bodies laying in the dirt & it’s not his job?
LE absolutely knows in a case like this, their body cam footage is going to be be heard by thousands of people, he really made himself & his unit look stupid.
He is Sgt Daniel Greene.
And chewing gum on the stand while testifying and watching his own body cam footage which showed two deceased people, like he’s at home watching some tv show casually … what an unprofessional and disrespectful morøn. The state should be ashamed! AM never had a real chance for any fairness PERIOD
People on here saying this defense lawyer is a shitty lawyer think he’s actually a good lawyer tire tracks foot prints all these cops walking around the crime scene like it’s no big deal. 🤔 .. his job is to put doubt in peoples minds of his client being 100% guilty for the jury to convict this man you have to absolutely 100% without a doubt feel with out a speck of question that he’s guilty if you have any kind of doubt you have to say not guilty
Most of the cops in that town were in the Murdoughs’ back pocket. Netflix just put out a series on them.
@jaime dodd I need to watch that series.
@@jaymee76 I know some people that live there, I live about 70 miles away & been there many times. I’m not saying the Murdaugh’s weren’t well known & had some clout, but Netflix exaggerated. Most of the town hated them, they wouldn’t do anything to help them, if their own life depended on it., they surely weren’t in their back pockets.
What makes me so mad is these poor cops have to go through this traumatic horrible shit and literally risk their lives..and defense attorneys have the nerve to try and put them down and make them look stupid when u can tell the second cop was struggling just being up there. There’s a difference if it’s a good cop or a dirty bad one but this is actually breaking my heart watching the one guy answer the defense attorneys ridiculous questions. Only made himself look dumb
The defense did that often. (Made themselves look ignorant!)
Is that first officer chewing gum? 😮
Idk about the cop but I saw Alex put something in his mouth.
He is I’m pretty sure!
Chewing gum in the court room? Not cosher.
Kosher*
Not chew gum, rather playing with his tongue, along with other facial action showing either fake or real anguish/emotional distress
I don’t think the Sgt has any manners. Anyone in his position to tell coworkers “it’s not my job”, when there is 2 murdered bodies laying in the dirt, can’t be too well trained.
1:30
Alex paid for this defense?! Doh! Judge should’ve told them to get their shit together! Watching at 2x normal speed and it still takes forever
Buster has rather an amused expression on his face
I sure hope those good dogs were fed during all these in humane incidents🤔
Its julls me bubba saw him kill paul and maggie bubba wanted to go to maggie
Those poor dogs :(
Indeed, I since the behavior of those puppies as well. You can hear the crying and if only they could talk
@@lamarcohen7917 :’( so sad
Tire tracks foot prints , 🤷♂️ no big deal it’s just a murder scene wow , cases are solved in some circumstances by foot prints or tire tracks . Keystone cops
Remember when another LE person asked him a question, he answered, “it’s not my job”. WTH? There are 2 murdered people laying in the dirt & he is worried about what his job is? He had not once of compassion, empathy, sympathy, nothing for anyone. LE knows when they go to scene like that (or should know) their body cam footage is going to be heard by thousands of people. He was so disrespectful to the deceased & their loved ones. I hope he now out looking for a job, because he should be fired immediately & never allowed to work in LE again.
It’s people like him, that give LE a bad name.

Quite honestly I think he's
going to be found not guilty.
I don't think he is guilty because
to me he had no real concrete
motive to kill his wife & kid. I
would think if he were to kill anyone
it would be the person he got or
stole all that money from, that to
me sounds more feasible. The
prosecution only has circumstantial
evidence. If anyone should be on trial
it should be the person alex got that
ton of money from I can see him doing
the murders and framing Alex Murdaugh
Do you still feel as though they will find him not guilty going on day 15 of the trial ? Paul's video and this this
I'm now learning about this case but he could've done it to collect life insurance like he did with the housekeepers death
According to what I’ve read , his motive is that he killed them to deflect from the stealing allegations which is crazy
There r many diff motives.
@@silvams1976 the wife nor son had any life insurance. None. And the housekeeper didn't have life insurance either. Alex had told her son's to sue his estate insurance (home insurance) for wrongful death and he kept the money without ever telling her boys about the award. But his wife and son had zero life insurance. None.
At 57:00 listen someone is saying or asking “did you kill your brother”. It’s on the Sgt’s body cam. That’s very strange.
At 2:15:00 Sgt says, “it’s not my job”, several times. I hope he is now looking for a new job, one that better suits his grandiose personality. As a Sgt, is it not HIS job to see that everyone under him is doing their jobs? There are 2 murdered people laying in the dirt & he is worried about his damn job? He has absolutely NO respect for deceased or their loved ones (I’m not talking about Alex). Would he want his mother, sister, brother, friend laying in the dirt, while a Law Officer that is sworn to protect & SERVE is concerned about what his job is or isn’t? Why did he even go, to put up the tape? That’s it? How much does SC taxpayers pay someone to put up the crime scene tape, whatever they pay him is too much.
He knew (or should have) in case of this magnitude his body cam was going to heard in a court room, Sgt Daniel Greene is an embarrassment to the people of South Carolina, especially his town. I sincerely hope his Captain has or will dismiss him of all duties.
Yes, I’m on a rant, as someone that has had a family member brutally killed, I find his behavior repulsive. A grown man with no respect for the deceased, can’t have respect for the living & has no place in Law Enforcement.
Sergeant Daniel Greene, you should never be allowed to work with public again.
