Fluidmaster Dual Flush Valve (a quick look)

  • A look at the Fluidmaster dual flush valve. This does not show how to fit it. It's a good valve that conserves water and is easy to fit (if nothing goes wrong), should fit most toilet cisterns, and is easy to maintain. With hindsight I would probably buy the Fluidmaster dual flush flapper valve though. But this flush valve is fine. I have no plumbing skills.

    update Aug 2015 :
Flush force too powerful causing splashes
I am finding that the flush can be so strong that the water can splash my seat causing a bit of an occasional obvious unwanted mess. For that reason I have replaced it with another brand (Opella) which does not seem to cause this. I am not sure why it happens. Maybe I am an isolated case.

Nice one man!! Was looking how to replace the flush valve without having to take the cistern off the pan.. you're the only video that shows it. Cheers

Cheers for that. My flush valve is sticking and I needed to know how to remove the unit. Not gonna lie it, wasn’t a simple turn and click! One squashed thumb and it eventually came loose.

Wasn't sure which was half and full flush and this with demonstration answered my question and was generally very informative. Need small fingers for half flush! Thank you!

Helps a lot. Thanks for your video. I think you can take the collar off that flush button on the outside.

On my Fluidmaster Dual Flush valve the top is black and I have to twist the body in a clockwise direction (and jiggle a bit) to release it.

That fillvalve is made by wirquin not fluidmaster. Could be branded fluidmaster but in my country those inlet valves are branded wirquin you should check their flush valves their are far better quality that that fluidmaster valve and the wirquin flush valves have that special spanner tool included with the product. And they come in two different size outlets that makes it universal.

Our toilet valve seems to stick a bit on the short flush and leaving water constantly running until you keep playing with the button

I fitted exactly the same Fluidmaster flush valve about three years ago, but recently the button, which in my case is mounted on the lid, has stopped popping back up after a full flush. It always pops up after a half flush.

How do you take the flush valve seal off this siphon?

With hindsight I find the 'flush' too strong, meaning the water in the bowl can get pretty wild (i.e. embarrassing splashes). For that reason I have changed to another type of valve. I couldn't find a way to control the power of the flush.

Is this anything to do with the particular setup of the cistern as all it is doing is releasing water, no different from any other product?

I'm thinking it might be to do with the flow rate. How much water gets through per time. Probably how big the opening is. Some flush valves give a flow rate.

+Gordon Southgate It's "dual flush". That means that you press the big button to say "bon voyage" to a number 2 or the little inset button to flush a number one ;-)

Do i need to take the cistern of if I wanna replace the flush valve?

    • @HareReviews
      @HareReviews  7 лет назад

i dont think so. they usually connect with a nut underneath ? a big nut tho. sometimes the maker supplies a plastic spanner that fits, often not. newer ones maybe have an alternative easier method. ?? not sure what im saying ...

The fill valve is a wigguwan not fluid master

Poor design from a previously trusted company. Mine ends each flush with a loud bang (not water hammer). Fluidmaster had no idea how to solve - said play with the adjusters. Even if that helped (doesn't), then I would be sacrificing water saving to solve the design problem.

'Replace again and again' ? Our traditional syphon has been in, trouble free for around 45 years. Would rather repair this when the time comes, than buy this new modern crap !
