Spot on instructions! I was dreading leaking blue liquid everywhere if I screwed up the repair. Will be attempting tomorrow with added confidence, thank you. 👍
no adjustments for the 1/2 and full flush volumes? It might be wroth while cleaning the ring of calcium buildup that typically restricts flow from beneath the top of the bowl - or is that not an issue in the UK?
Thank you for providing this tutorial, it was really easy to follow and very clearly explained. My first ever plumbing task was achieved thanks to you!
Being in the Coronavirus lockdown I've had to work out how to replace my flushing system myself. With a little assistance from a texting friend and watching this video, I think I may have it sorted. Many thanks.
wrecked the button and cable on the flusher, couldnt get anyone out due to covid 19. ordered the parts to replace myself and did not have the slightest notion of what i was doin. found this video and bang, job done. great video
I have same valve fitted with black top. Just got replacement with white top are they interchangeable? The white one can be twisted anticlockwise to separate from the bottom pipe. If they fit each other then I could just twist old one out and put new one in its place. I'm not sure if old one can be separated in that way. It would save a bunch of time by not having to remove bowl.
Can someone give me advise , i have a cartridge type twist and replace ,it seems to be a constant trickle to the bowl,do i need to replace this or is their a way of fixing it,any advice grateful received.
You can buy a replacement seal for any good plumbing merchant, if you’re unsure which size twist and remove the siphon and take it with you to the supplier. They should match it up for you 👍🏻
Hi Do It All Dan. I need a little bit of advice please! I've just replaced my flush, bit easier as cistern inside a cupboard. However it turns out that the outlet pipe is a fraction smaller than the flush outlet thread. So water leaks into the bathroom. Is there a quick fix for this like a seal with flange to go inside pipe and under flush in cistern, or do I need to replace the plastic outlet pipe? Thank you so much if you, or anyone else can help!
Hi there just watched the video , i have one of theses ,now when we flush it it fills up ok but abit to much as it goes down the over flow and believe it or not it run our of the screw hole i think as it dripping on the floor , is there a wat to adjust the flow of water , cheers nige
I’m not 100% sure but I think the cartridge of that type can just twist out and a new one can go in its place the Fluidmaster Pro can because I’ve changed it just a twist and turn.
Thanks for the comment Charles the one that was already installed couldn’t be replaced, however the new one can be from now on. To be fair for what it was worth it was easy enough 😂 thanks again 💪🏻👌🏻
I’ve got an issue with my flush valve where it must be letting water into the bowl as every so often the fill valve is opening and sending more water into the tank. The main guts of the flush valve just twist off so I swapped them with our upstairs toilet one but still no joy. I have recently swapped the fill valve and it seems to be adjusted correctly. Anyone got any ideas what it may be?
You don't have to take it out like that. The top half of the flush can be detached while it's still fitted in the cistern and pulled straight out. New flush just clicks back on
Why do you always use a sponge or towel to get the water out, but I've seen other people just unscrew the flush valve to let the water flow into the toilet?
so weird mine is leaking water internally , not into the bowl or the floor, lol took me a month or two to figure out why there leaking water sound, man waste of water ...... any idea how to remove a baron brand flusher ?
Can you change the middle assembly without removing the actual toilet cistern? My wont seal intermittently and i dont really want to remove the whole cistern if its just the centre flush control assembly
I’ve messed up, I haven’t got wing nuts on mine.. I’ve undone two bolts that hold the cistern to the toilet but they aren’t coming off… the flush down pipe is now loose, I can’t get the cistern off to replace the new flush, the toilet is one with hidden fixings… will I need to cut the bolts off? Or will I have to remove the whole toilet? Heeellpp, I should have bought a replacement flush cartridge but now it’s too late 😢
Been working on mine today too and the two bolts came off (wing nuts underneath) but couldn't take off the cistern. Then discovered the large plastic nut underneath the cistern that holds the flush in place. Came off straightaway then. Hope that helps 🇬🇧
The only problem is it’s not accessible…the whole toilet bowl is flush to the wall so there’s no way to get under and get the wing nuts, I’m imagining the bolts are those kind that expand when you tighten them… but they just keep spinning when trying to undo them?? And there’s no way to get the cistern off as it’s flush to the bowl. 😢
There is a few things you could try, coat it in WD40 for about 15mins or so give them a go. If that fails you may have to use a large hacksaw blade behind the cistern (painfully slow) but effective. If you can grip them with some locking pliers? That may be a option, I wouldn't use a blowtorch to heat them as it could damage the back of the cistern. If all else fails carefully drill the heads off and remove or use a screw splitter, (not ideal ways but last options). Hope this helps
Everytime I connected the cistern to the bowl, water leaked heavily between the two, I finally stopped it by turning the metal plate that holds the bolts, the other way around. Every part was new, so I dont understand how all these videos show that plate, withnthe lugs pointing out
My cistern is the worst designed ever - the inlet valve nut underneath is basically recessed into the bottom of the cistern so a nightmare to get that disconnected to them remove the cistern. Plumbers nightmare.
I've only worked on toilets in maybe 10 houses in my life, but it's interesting to me because: 1) I've never seen toilets where they were hard-piped in rather than using flex-hose 2) I've never seen the tank bolted to the wall before. I've only ever worked on toilets in the States, so I'm wondering if this is a Code thing that is required elsewhere.
No not code, just good practice and really standard. Flexi hoses are used often but I personally find it unnecessary and untidy when it looks so much better hard piped with ab isolation valve. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻😁
Don't care how many plumbers I see fitting how many toilets, I cannot see the point of screwing the cistern to the toilet *AND* wall; screwing to the wall seems a hangover from the days when cisterns were attached to the wall.
You would see the point if you dealt with hotels or bnbs where many people use them day in day out without care, plus larger people 600lbs say, it soo takes its toll .
@@PlumbingGy Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. My instructions show the two moveable tabs to adjust the amount of water discharged for long and short flushes. However, they won’t move and I don’t want to force them.
'Make sure the washer on the flush valve goes on the right way' He Said..... But didn't tell us, or show, us which way round little ridges are supposed to face... towards the cistern or towards the valve? which is the right way!! People watch these 'how to' video's to find that out... but you failed to clarify this for the most important seal in the system! Never Assume Anything.
It's self explanatory, it only goes one way to the direction of action. If the individual who is looking at these 'how to' videos has no DIY skills I always recommend getting a professional to do the job because it will go wrong. Thanks 👍🏻
@@PlumbingGy That's the least helpful response I've ever seen to a perfectly reasonable question. There's a round rubber washer that goes between the flush and the cistern. One side of the washer is flat, the other has grooves in it. It could go on either with the grooves upwards, towards the flush, or with the grooves down towards the cistern. You say to make sure it's on the right way, don't say which is the right way, and then give a meaningless and unhelpful reply when someone asks.

100% the Dudley turbo siphon so easy to install and to change it a quick turn and click. Highly recommended.
