I just found your channel and I just loved the way you teach, well explained and calm, it's not easy to find tutorials like that. I spent a lot of time researching how to animate like this and most of the tutorials I found were good but none as good as yours, too rushed and confusing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 💕
Thanks very much for this comment and your kindness Jess.
Outstanding as always!!
Hi ratis13. Thank you for your kindness. Sometimes the comments help more than you know. Thank again ratis :)
Thank you for showing this UV mapping method. This is the most time-efficient way to map a texture. I used to cut my character's pieces using photoshop, save each and every one of them as pngs and then import these into Blender as Image as Planes. Now I don't have to go through this time-consuming process!
Glad to hear that this video helped you. Thanks for letting me know.
I liked the way you teach and your explanation was calm, thanks for such a great work.
So nice of you. Thank you :)
the best teacher i saw in many at youtube ty !!!!
Thanks for your kindness bill :)
Looking great thanks
Thanks for the kind words Brock :)
tnx for a good one. maybe the best cutout tutorial for blender right now.
Wow, thanks!
Omg this is exactly what i needed, thank you so much for this tutorial! -plz don't delete content ever :D
Thanks for your kindness Khraken :D
@@AlimayoArango Thanks for the awesome tutorial! One question though. How do you swap images?
thanks for the chill speed and detail of tutorial vids like this one, you cant make everyone happy of course, some want faster less detailed, some want super detailed and slow for ease of following along. For total newbies the speed of this one is great. Look forward to if you dive into grease pencil, as well as any 'redux' of past videos in light of newer blender releases when new features provide improved methods. i've only started your tutorials (hard to carve out time as this is just a new hobby for me) but i already know i'm gonna have to hit up and show some love to your patreon! ha i hope you're buyin that artistic youngin of yours some specialty coffee for that great artwork she lets you use! :D i've an artistic daughter as well and you've inspired me that i should take one of her works as a guinea pig for running thru this workflow! i'm sure she'd love to see her art with even a slight animation applied :)
Thanks for this message. I look forward to getting more into the grease pencil in the future. I hope that daughters art work with the slight animation applied turns excellent :D
Your daughter is a very talented artist
Thank you :D
Thank you for Learn2Animate!!
Welcome!
Thx for this tutorial! I wanna try to make an animation like Bruva alfabusa except in blender, and this will help immensely
Go for it!
Muito obrigado por esse video... Um alô desdo Brasil
Your welcome. Thanks for watching.
man algorithm knew what i wanted fook
so if i have a had that has multiple hand drawn frames( open closed, slightly opend, pointing) how do i swap out the images?, is there a way to add several images to a bone and hide the ones until i want to show them, or is there a better solution?
I really like your teaching style and I feel there is a lot to learn here - I wonder if you have a written version of these tutorials that we can use as additional reference?
That is an interesting idea Doso. I will think about that.
Above the Subscribe button and to the right of Save is the Ellipsis button ( . . . ) -- click that. Below report is "Show transcript ". -- This may help you. Good luck.
Hi! Thank you for this! To animated this, will be the same process like your videos for 2d animarion?
Hi Cassandra. Yes you would animate this like some of the other 2d animation video tutorials that I made.

Your video was amazing, i love How you explained, it was so calm and easy to understand. I only wonder How should i export my character ? I made a 2D animation background as another file but i dont Know How to import my character correctly.. thank you for your answer :))
Hi Marianne. Thanks for your kind words. I would export your character by rendering it out as a video with the settings for exporting that you would export each frame of the video. If you need more explanation contact me again and I will try to explain more.
Great tutorial. However at 1:06:48 it is a big deal if you have to pivot. you did the first step correct. What you should have done next is RT+click , set orgin, Set orgin to 3D cursor. I stopped the video so you may have corrected it. But if not than her you go.
Thanks for the kind words and the info.
Whit this proccess is posible export to Godot for 2.5 game?
great :D a question, know traditional animation would serve to make animated videos like this? or is it better to learn vector animation? please I will thank you if you can clarify it :)
Hi Daniela. The type of animation that you use will most likely depend on the project. I prefer when working on 2D animation animated rigs like what is shown in this video largely because of the freedom that comes with working with a true 3D camera compared to a 2D camera. I hope this helps.
@@AlimayoArango I see thanks :), but do you think that learn traditional animation could be help? because I'm not very sure... :'v
wow ! Yeah !
Thanks
When I went to do the UV Editing portion I brought my vertices over to scale and move around to match up with the image I brought in but it appears the scales are different and it doesn't match up. I changed the dimensions and ratio of the images after I had made all the meshes and just lined them up again. Maybe this is what caused it...
Are you still dealing with this issue?
Thank you for the video. I am following while doing a different project. I wanted to animate parts of a picture. I haven't done it exactly like you, I didn't put all the elements/piece on a single plane, I have done them individually. Which brings me to a problem I am having. When I Project From View, the projection doesn't line up well with the image. When I line up the sides, the verts in the UV Editor are stretched vertically and when I match the top and bottom, the projection too wide. What could be the problem? Anyone?
Hi James. Did you apply scale to you image object before you projected from view?
@@AlimayoArango Yes, I applied "All Transforms". (edit) I'm going to test something later tomorrow. I could be the source file. I just noticed your Gimp file 1024x1024, mine is a funny resolution: 1108x1478 which was the resolution of the picture.
Yup, my issue was the source. I imported my pieces into a 1024x1024 transparent and re-exported them and it UVs just great now. Sorry to have bothered you about this. I was besides myself. Thank you again, your video has really helped to start this project and know it can be done. I look forward to watching more of your channel as I try to improve my blender skills.
hiii, thank you for the video. Also can I change the skin of the character?
Yes you can!
How do I flip this in the horizontal direction like we do in two dimensions?
From I front view Im going to say R to rotate on the Y axis 90 degrees. I hope this helps.
im having a hard time rigging a human spine ...im not in the field, i got rigify and its not helping. I was wondering if i email you the .blend, could you help?
Hi w Gallo. Yes email me the file and I will try to help.

Could you make one for a 360 turnaround? Plz y still don’t get how to make that worked
Hi jefferson thanks for watching this video. It sounds like you might be better off going for full 3D models with cell shading on them if you are interested in making 360 turn around views.
hi alimayo. when I generate rig it just has the bones and not the balls with straight lines and arrows. Am I doing something wrong?
Annoying "glitch"
My "U" button isn't working to bring up the UV Maping "menu" at 56:44 in the video. I've tried to go in and edit preferences under keymap, and even tried to upgrade to Blender 3.1 to see if that would make any difference. Unfortuantely it hasn't Q.Q
Is there another way to access this menu or what are other "things" that may be "blocking" that from coming up when I press "u"?
nvrmnd.... I wasn't in "edit" mode, I was still in "Object" mode. OH THE FUTZINESS OF IT ALL XD.... another lesson learned... >///>
Hi Sylvia. Glad that you figured it out :)
Thanks for watching this video.
@@AlimayoArango I had that problem also. I couldn't switch back to Edit mode. I restarted and I could, so who knows? I'm using a Mac M1 so things can be a little different. Now I got past that step and I can't apply the texture using the Project From View.
All my planes count as 1 image.
I dont have the uv selector tab as an option.
I get im meant to link them... i sid such a bad job building the plane nodes, ill happily ressrt and make them induvidually
I cant find uv editing for the life of me.
Is it in edit, iser preferences?
I know this is 1 year old video.
Im pretty new... lol, 2nd day. Into blender. Im a programmer, not an artist! But having an animation for sprites made would be epic! 2d game
Dear Sir. There really is no easier way to make a rigging character? For example, as in the Spine program?
Hi Oly. I would imagine there are easier ways. This is just one way of rigging 2d art in Blender. Thanks for watching the video Oly.

why use gimp over affinity designer?
I like the fact that I can not only use gimp for free but also put it on a thumbdrive and use it with out installing it on any windows computer. Thanks for watching this video Tobias.
Pls make a bike rigging tutorial with suspension & turing handle & wheel. Pls sir .
Thanks for watching this video. You might like the video below on rigging motorcycle wheels.

Blender's 3D cursor's lack of simple pivoting placement is counter-intuitive to EVERY OTHER 3D Software
Blender Definity take some time to get used to however I think that you will find that the time is well spent. Thanks for taking a look at this tutorial.
Great work😀. idk if you do fan requests about the popular zombie game TWD. The walking dead telltale series. but, I have a cool idea that is optional. I'm wondering if you'd be willing to make an apocalypse survival story animation about the male and female charactors from telltales TWD where they survive but are slowly killed one by one until Kenny is the only one left alive to fight at the end. Using the group led by Kenny season 2 model from steam workshop. And add in any other existing charactor models you find from telltales twd and have them taken out at random one by one until Kenny is the final survivor. Like an survival horror type animation . Using the telltale TWD charactors. Search up steam workshop:: the walking dead collection to find all the charactor models. Also if Kenny doesn't show up just search up Kenny player model.
Sounds like you really thought a lot that. I would like to do something about making a story animation however I'm not that familiar with the Telltale series of walking dead games. Thanks for the idea as well as the kind words Erik.
How to export
What are you planning to use the export for?

Great tutorial, but it's blurred!! Otherwise - great!
Noted!
Why are you doing this in the 3D mode as opposed to doing it in 2D animation mode if this is a 2D animation?
When I did this the grease pencil was not as developed as it is now.
Looks cool but the hand is backwards ....
Thanks for letting me know.
Bro you speak too much.
