  • I've done the Old Age Rock Band thing and to be honest, Loved it. BUT, as age starts to wear more on my body, yet not willing to let go of the Love of performing, Roland has come to the rescue. I bought a Roland Street Cube amp that runs on Electricity OR Batteries. I also hand picked accessories that would fit in a backpack and, along with my trusty Acoustic/Electric Ovation, I can now perform virtually 'Anywhere'. This video is just to show it Can Be Done! TY Roland for making it possible. Any 'Older' musicians out there will appreciate this video. I hope!

Good enough setup, keep it light is right.
Put a stick-on tuner on the guitar, use a guitar strap, add backing tracks... here's what I do..., I use Band-In A Box for composing, cabbage anything I can from online backing tracks, karaoke, etc., then run them onto a stick then download the stick into a pad music file, patch the pad into your amp or PA, rest the pad on your music stand for quick reference and hit it, you'll get better recognition and coin with a back sound.
    Boz.

Near enough my set up. I have my cube on a stand though so it projects better and I stand up when I play so it's also nearer to ear level. I only go busking for about an hour so have memorised enough so I don't have to have a music stand. I find standing up makes you more engaging to passers by and not having to look at the words means you can make eye contact with people and concentrate on your actual singing better. I Just have a list of songs written down somewhere. Always have my guitar case with a few coins in as my "loot bag" in front of me with a few strategically placed coins already in, as people are sometimes unsure about being the first to drop money on. Also, always have a bottle of water on you.

Hi Micheal, I have an Ibanez guitar stool which has a guitar holder incorporated. That would save bringing the separate guitar stand. I have a Roland AC33 amp, it was a toss up between the street cube and that. I'm only going to play acoustic so the AC33 won out. I was at a supermarket lately and a creative Maori gentleman was using a modified coat hanger to hold his mic instead of a stand. More portable but it looked awkward :) A 3/4 size guitar would also help in weight and size. I like your passion for guitar and singing. Nice job. Brent

@@michaelquigley7927 yep true…. I noticed the amps getting lighter over the years. My busking rig consists of a Roland JC40( 40lbs) fender bass amp rumble 100w (22 lbs) and my battery is solar (16lbs) I use a rock n roll cart and can move from place to place… at 61, so far so good lol!
