Even tho this is 5 years old it's still a super useful video! Thanks drib for the great breakdowns of these tricks! I go to Bardwell, UAV tech and Chris Rosser for my build questions but you are hands down my favorite for just learning how to fly!
Throttle throttle throttle!!! Aaaand I’m smayshed on the ground lol. I’ll keep at it. And keep rebuilding my quad. And keep watching videos. I don’t know why but i was just imagining if we could fly like this for say 30 minutes or more without interruption. Even better without video break up, thru trees, buildings, long distance. Someday it’ll be possible.
First off, great tutorial. Appreciate the use of the light post since we can all find one for reference. Also - the flying clips were REALLY smooth. Keep up the good work! #TeamMQC #ThrustVector
I never could wrap my head around this trick, so I never tried it. Thanks to this video, I have that beginner, loving FPV feeling again. Thanks a ton. You made this so easy to understand and I have it down now. Thx for your trick series. Keep them coming please. :)
QUADBOT FPV yeah buddy. :) Here is the first video where I started Dribbing Out, lol. And all my future vids just keep getting better. Love these trick tutorials. Can't say it enough. ruclips.net/video/0YBSMgNkzrE/видео.html
You totally de-mystified and explained the move that made my brain hurt just thinking about how to attempt, and never would have until now... Thanks Drew!
I was going to start figuring this trick out this saturday and your explanation arrived just in time. The reason I originally subbed to your channel was this exact trick - it was one of those "DAFUQ?!" moments when I first saw you doing it.
I really like how you handled this one, mixing in the trick explanation with the normal stuff is A+ Well done on the tutorial aspect as a whole, much clearer than others I've seen. Keep it up please :)
This was by far one of yours or anybody else best videos PLEASE DO MORE DUDE!! IM working it on the Sim right now. I can't get DRL to work right. my quad has no control at all. I gave up trying to use it.
Yis! This is very explanative. Definitely do more of them in the future. Aren't you getting tired of those close calls? Yesterday the paybox and now the tree, and the parking hole...thing? Keep it up, man.
Awesome video as usual... Funny anecdote : When I discovered Fpv about 6 month ago, I started watching all the video I could which happened to MattyStuntz. One of his videos is at night in an partially covered parking lot and I am thinking "wait a minute, that is Lougheed Mall and that other video is IKEA parking lot in Coquitlam...". One of the best pilot of this amazing hobby is practicing in my neighbourhood....
Haa the exact same thing happened to me although i left the lower mainland a few years ago. Saw a shot of the port mann and it was just like "wait a minute.... I've paid way to much to cross that bridge ,THIS IS POCO!" lol
I got these first try thanks to this video! I never thought to go round an obstacle using it as a distance reference, it makes knowing where you are so much easier. Thanks for sharing :)
you are really good at flying .... I have a mjx x101 it's my first .....I wanna see if this is something for me. I think it might be. Thanks to guys like you and your cool videos
Great comprehensive tutorial between the real flight footage, simulator and desk flying to understand the quads orientation through the maneuver. I'm off to find a suitable lamp post! Subd!
Very well explained, not tried this trick yet in real life but have been working on the reversing out of split "S" which is probably more difficult and looks even more awesome. I'm starting to get to the point where I can do it automatically without much thought, first time I tried it I powered backwards into the ground though :op
This is great, thank you! It gives me something to try on the Sim whilst I practice actual flying in real life. Once I master crashing less than twice per per pack I might move on to this :D
Skitzo uses Spektrum too, so you're in good company. I jumped ship on my DX6i and just converted to FrSky QX7 radio (love it) and I like the LUA scripts, battery and RSSI telemetry even on Tiny Whoops, and the JR module port to fly tons of other protocols, and I like Amber talking to me on the radio ;)
hey drew ! I'm just getting into flying and I have a quad built up and I'm currently using the simulator and a whoop to practice. next is to get batteries and a charger , also a spektrum receiver. would you be able to let me know what you use for charging and spektrum receiver ? maybe a video on your setups :) thanks
I think you're on to something with this way of explaining things: show real life, then sim, then 3rd person quad view. Well done, I think you should do a series.
I just wanted to say thank you! This helped me tremendously, I have been struggling with this trick and now I able to wrap my head around this a lot better! Great tutorial!! Plug me in boo 😂
What angle do you have you camera? I think I remember reading that Matty usually keeps his camera at a higher angle between 45-60º? I think that helps with being able to spot your target longer when inverted. Thanks for the tutorial!
Loved the video man. I was going to go try and do this outside, but the winds are at like 30 constant, and snowing :/. Luckily, my quads are 100% waterproofed! Keep up the good work. I was just curious though, how old are you and what do you do for a living?
Geniusness. Havent gotten past my little whoop yet since Xmas, but waiting now for my wizard and qx7 to come in the mail to graduate from the lil whoop. Good tutorial!!! Definatly not trying that with my blade lol:)
..Said i was gonna give the simulator a break today. Guess I'll be practicing Matty flips all day. Thanks for the tutorial! I'm using MattyStuntz settings from his DRl simulator video. Are you using different settings or have any recommendations for realistic settings?
Ok, n00b question. When you're heading straight towards a building covered in glass windows and then go pretty much straight *up* the side of it, what is the orientation of the quad at that point? Are you just pitching backwards and mashing the throttle at the same time?
Hey drib, noticed you had the dx9 in this video. Just wondering if voice telemetry readouts are working for you or if it's broken for everyone in the new airware update.
Nice tutorial! Matty does this maneuver in two different variations. The first (and I think the easiest) is the one you explained in your video. The other one starts like a Split-S, however, instead of completing the split-S with backward pitch, seems like he does a slow forward pitch and uses the quad inertia to make it goes backwards. Not sure if you know what I mean LOL. It's a fast forward maneuver that you start flying forward and get out flying backawards.
Also, how did you get the DRL sim to fly soo smooth? Mine flies like crap, and it seems that it is impossible to trim out the quad so that it will not float to different areas. It just likes to roll and pitch by itself sometimes. thanks
I never could match DRL simulator to my drone (the scenario is great though). Could you make a quick info on your DRL settings? My LiftOff-Settings are very close to my Alien5".
Thanks man, just tried it in Real Flight, took 5 or 6 try's but I did it ( did have to use a taller object, lamp posts are still a little short for me LOL ). Would love to see more vids like this.
i love the sp 4648 standard quad (3v), but i've just moved on to the SP4649T which is the same rx but with telemetry and can run on 5 volts. the latter being the deal breaker for me. a couple of the boards i have (flycolor) don't have 3.3v outputs just 5.
I am currently running stock satellites (SPM9645) but I was wondering if there's any real notable reception improvements with the sp4648's or the sp4849t's when it comes to reception.
i've only ever used the two that i've mentioned. as far as range (providing they don't get eaten by a cat or a prop :D) i've had them out to around 1000 feet. in fact the one im flying (SP4649T) right now until new antennas come (yes you can get spare antennae for these at 8 bucks for a pack of 4) only has 1 half of 1 antenna and I can still fly around a typical race track. my new ones should come in friday.
yo man, i have tried contacting my dealer for these UFL connection antennas for the satellites. he can't beat your price. where did you find that pack of 4 antennas?
Great video, I love that trick :) Would you mind sharing your settings for the DRL sim ? I gave it a try, and liked it a lot, but I feel the quad has way too much power using the default settings. Mind you, I still fly my Blackout with 2203 motors, so maybe I'm just completely out of touch with the power of current hardware... (and yes, I'm building an up-to-date quad !)
I've actually just been using the default setting lately. I just tweak the rates and expo etc. it doesn't quite feel 100% "real" but it's still really helpful
Thanks for this Drew, its the first thing I did in drl was to reverse powerloop the crane lol. Now I know what it is called!!! Keep it up and nice flying thos office buildings are so epic one day ill travel to a city and dive a proper building not a 2 story building like the tallest structure here other than communication towers.
I'm really just curious about this but can you please let me know why you Le Drib that stuff on your eyes water line? Is it just like a reminiscent punk rocker look type thing? Nice video. That front flip or more commonly called 'outside loop' in aviation terms, is a tricky move to get comfortable with. Much easier to do at ~60deg tilt. The term outside loop refers to the pilot looking at the outside of the loop rather than the inside. Fighter jet pilots actually practice this as a maneuver.
Waiting for more tutorials in Reallive for sure, but explained in DRL sim, please... Really great, learn the first 80% in DRL, then the rest by changing the Props in RL :)
Hi I see your using spektrum too, Do you have any of the failsafe issues that other fpv pilots seem to complain about? I personally have had no problems yet but do wonder if I've been lucky so far.
I've gotten good performance out of Spektrum as long as I take care to mount my antennas correctly. Out and away from the carbon and at an angle to one another. Also use genuine spektrum receivers. Stay away from OrangeRX, its really unreliable.
I'm all over this when the snow melts. I'm pretty tired of digging my quad out of the snow for now. I'm pretty tired of the now all together come to think of it. I have 2 trees in mind at one of my favorite spots but can't get there without a snowmobile right now.
Thanks man I will try this! Question, I see you're using spektrum. What kind of receiver are you using and are you using sbus or something similar? I'm using the orangerx receivers which support sbus, but I'm getting some failsafes and have a feeling that there is something better. Thanks again! FIN
I primarily use the Spektrum Quad Race Recievers. I tried orange products a while back and had signal problems too. LemonRX did much better than orange but the new line of genuine Spektrum performs best of all by far. They don't put out sbus they use a Spektrum serial protocol. It's very fast, 11us I believe. Hope this helps :)
Thanks for the quick reply, yes that helps a lot! I was thinking on switching to Taranis (since that is the most popular now) but I already spent a lot of money on my Spektrum radio. And I like the gimbals better too. I'll look into that other serial protocol and will definitely try these quad race receivers out. Cheers!
Excellent tutorial Drew. You did explain it well. I'm going to start practicing this as soon as the winds get below 30+ mph here in Colorado.
First off, great tutorial. Appreciate the use of the light post since we can all find one for reference. Also - the flying clips were REALLY smooth. Keep up the good work! #TeamMQC #ThrustVector

that is sooooo awesome to hear. Thank you!
got some video?
QUADBOT FPV yeah buddy. :)
Here is the first video where I started Dribbing Out, lol. And all my future vids just keep getting better. Love these trick tutorials. Can't say it enough.

You totally de-mystified and explained the move that made my brain hurt just thinking about how to attempt, and never would have until now... Thanks Drew!
That's so awesome to hear :)
I hope you get to try it soon
Most in depth trick tute I've seen. Two thumbs up, like the Fonz!
Ayyyeeeeeee
I was going to start figuring this trick out this saturday and your explanation arrived just in time.
The reason I originally subbed to your channel was this exact trick - it was one of those "DAFUQ?!" moments when I first saw you doing it.
Great video on the flip! The light pole is a good reference point as well....and best yet, I love your play by play...lol...Throttle!
Keep the lessons coming pal, I've a lot to learn...... Thanks for a great session .
I really like how you handled this one, mixing in the trick explanation with the normal stuff is A+ Well done on the tutorial aspect as a whole, much clearer than others I've seen. Keep it up please :)
By far my favorite move! It has been om my bucket list for a while.... I guess THE TIME IS NOW!! Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Do iiiiittt! :)
Good one. Best Matty Flip tutorial i've seen thus far.
Thanks! Hope it helped :)
This was by far one of yours or anybody else best videos PLEASE DO MORE DUDE!! IM working it on the Sim right now. I can't get DRL to work right. my quad has no control at all. I gave up trying to use it.

Love it fantastic. I will have to have a go at this sometime if you have any more fire them up.
Very nice Drew! Would love to see more like this. Great flying and really enjoy the videos.
it's like you read my mind! I've been thinking about this trick for a while. Love the tutorial, can't wait for more
Awesome! Really hope this helps :)
I have been using the sim for few months now.. love it
great tutorial, I liked that you covered real flight, simulator and flight theory! keep those trick tutorials coming!
Thanks Sepp! I'll try to keep those three points in mind for future tutorial things :)
Thanks Drew- clear, simple, the way I need it to be explained- hope to see you at Kwad Kamp soon in Motor City...
Awesome video as usual...

What eyeliner do you use?
its not like i been watching this channel like forever so for me this is new, and a joke it aint
In this case it's called guyliner
Ha! Gaaaayyyy!
Hahahaha
You sir did a good job and making me understand the trick 👍🏻
I got these first try thanks to this video! I never thought to go round an obstacle using it as a distance reference, it makes knowing where you are so much easier. Thanks for sharing :)
Great tutorial Drew. Thanks!
you are really good at flying .... I have a mjx x101 it's my first .....I wanna see if this is something for me. I think it might be. Thanks to guys like you and your cool videos
That was rad - can you do more of these?
This trick has always looked disorienting and confusing but the stick movements seem so trivial. Thanks for lesson!
one of my favorite looking tricks. Great tutorial Drib
Thanks! One of my favorites too :)
Very good tutorial, this is what I needed and need more of
Great comprehensive tutorial between the real flight footage, simulator and desk flying to understand the quads orientation through the maneuver. I'm off to find a suitable lamp post! Subd!
Awesome! Thanks man, hope this helps :)
Thanks Drew clearly explained tutorial. I'll be giving it a go here soon
I just noticed the minitri in the back.Ccould you maybe make a little stunt video with it and explain the differences concerning acro-trickery-stuff?
Great explanation of how to do the trick, much appreciated
helpful thanks. tutorials and flight videos are the best.
Very well explained, not tried this trick yet in real life but have been working on the reversing out of split "S" which is probably more difficult and looks even more awesome. "Plug me in, Boo." Lol, so funny, awesome tutorial:)
As always, thanks for the share dude. Keep 'em coming.

Oh and by the way, thank you for all your videos ! got me into the hobby . keep it up buddy
I think you're on to something with this way of explaining things: show real life, then sim, then 3rd person quad view. Well done, I think you should do a series.
Great vid, u make it look easy man. But you explained it really well, definitely going to try it.
Thanks, I am getting the throttle timing down in the sim. Appreciate the vid
I just wanted to say thank you! This helped me tremendously, I have been struggling with this trick and now I able to wrap my head around this a lot better! Great tutorial!!
Plug me in boo 😂

This is exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for - thanks man!
Id be interested in even more introductory level piloting tips - pre powerloop
So you explained why you use Skyzone over Fatshark, but why Spektrum over FrSky? Is it the quality of the gimbals? Just curious.
Great tutorial! I'm all over it!
Well done video, with very helpful input on your part. Just subscribed.
This was good dude. This makes complete sense now. Of course I haven’t tried it yet, but I think I can figure this out from this video.
I really like the "sprinkles". Keep them coming. Did you start flying line of site or get straight into fpv your first time? Thanks!
I flew LOS first. Spent hours and hours having a blast just hovering my Nano QX around my basement.
..Said i was gonna give the simulator a break today. Guess I'll be
practicing Matty flips all day. Thanks for the tutorial! I'm using
MattyStuntz settings from his DRl simulator video. Are you using
different settings or have any recommendations for realistic settings?
Thank you for awesome description and flying!
I've tried this a few times recently and powered straight into the ground.
Next time, easy over and only power up when I can see the sky. Cheers bro!
I slammed the ground many a ton me when I first was learning it haha
Soft grass helps :)
Good luck!!
Ok, n00b question. When you're heading straight towards a building covered in glass windows and then go pretty much straight *up* the side of it, what is the orientation of the quad at that point? Are you just pitching backwards and mashing the throttle at the same time?
Love it to see how the trick works. Like your other trick videos
Very cool technique, best explained by you, in this tutorial. Thank you 😉👊

He does all sorts of crazy variations haha. Not sure exactly which one you're referring to though?
Just found your tutorials! they are great! keep them coming. :)
Done my first one ever today thank you bud keep em coming
im gonna have to try one of them flips thanks for the tips
I like the music you're putting on your videos lately. Nice and echoey.
Great tutorial, going to give that a try tomorrow. Looks a bit cold out there !
:) let me know how it goes
Also, how did you get the DRL sim to fly soo smooth? Mine flies like crap, and it seems that it is impossible to trim out the quad so that it will not float to different areas. It just likes to roll and pitch by itself sometimes. thanks
I never could match DRL simulator to my drone (the scenario is great
though). Could you make a quick info on your DRL settings? My
LiftOff-Settings are very close to my Alien5".
That was cool, looking forward to more tutorials.
thanks for the tutorial that was fun trying to learn it today
Good stuff as always, Drew!
How often do u visit Excel? I'm in town from Ms. on business. Don't know if I'll make it there.
At least once a week lately haha. I'll probably be in there in Friday?
Supper cool, still learning to fly , never mind doing tricks. Hope i get there. Thanks for some great footage awesome. high five
Thanks man, just tried it in Real Flight, took 5 or 6 try's but I did it ( did have to use a taller object, lamp posts are still a little short for me LOL ). Would love to see more vids like this.
What's your ESC settings? (Starting power & Motor timing)
I am using DYS XS30A and I'am troubling in...
Nice sound effects!
What Spektrum sats do you use? Do you use the regular DSMX sats or do you use the specific Quad-racing one?
i love the sp 4648 standard quad (3v), but i've just moved on to the SP4649T which is the same rx but with telemetry and can run on 5 volts. the latter being the deal breaker for me. a couple of the boards i have (flycolor) don't have 3.3v outputs just 5.

Lemonrx diversity satellites all day long!
yo man, i have tried contacting my dealer for these UFL connection antennas for the satellites. he can't beat your price. where did you find that pack of 4 antennas?
Great video, I love that trick :)
Would you mind sharing your settings for the DRL sim ?
I gave it a try, and liked it a lot, but I feel the quad has way too much power using the default settings.
Mind you, I still fly my Blackout with 2203 motors, so maybe I'm just completely out of touch with the power of current hardware...
(and yes, I'm building an up-to-date quad !)
I've actually just been using the default setting lately. I just tweak the rates and expo etc. it doesn't quite feel 100% "real" but it's still really helpful
And yeah things have quite a bit more power now...
I think you'll enjoy your new build 😈
Great video. What is the simulator that you use. Regards
its the DRL sim, link is in the description. Its free :)
what kind of rates are you running? how much expo etc?
Thanks for this Drew, its the first thing I did in drl was to reverse powerloop the crane lol. Now I know what it is called!!! Keep it up and nice flying thos office buildings are so epic one day ill travel to a city and dive a proper building not a 2 story building like the tallest structure here other than communication towers.
Really appreciate the tutorial,very helpful,👍
I'm really just curious about this but can you please let me know why you Le Drib that stuff on your eyes water line? Is it just like a reminiscent punk rocker look type thing? Nice video. great videos as usual man. keep em comin!
Great tutorial, you really explained it well & I feel almost confident in trying it now - ha ha!
:D thanks, do it!
Great Vid! excited to try it out!
Waiting for more tutorials in Reallive for sure, but explained in DRL sim, please... Really great, learn the first 80% in DRL, then the rest by changing the Props in RL :)
Hey, what are good settings to start out with in DRLSim? thank you
How much camera tilt do you run? I always find that interesting.
30 deg
Le Drib thanks!!!
how come you don't add spectum dx9 too ur component gear list? can you do pids video
Do you like the Steele motors? I bought some but haven't had any time to fly them yet, are they worthy of the cost and hype?
Yeah I do like them. They are crazy smooth. Only thing I don't like is the c-clip. I've popped a few bells off on crashes :/
not an eyeliner comment!!! What camera angle do you use? exteme like Mattystuntz?
Haha!
Nothing extreme, 30 degrees
Thanks for the video, I performed my first flip today thanks to it. I recorded it and will post a vid tomorrow :) Subbed, hit me back :D
Hi I see your using spektrum too, Do you have any of the failsafe issues that other fpv pilots seem to complain about? I personally have had no problems yet but do wonder if I've been lucky so far.

That was great. Thanks. New trick to try now.
