- Derek in this episode of inside the boiler case goes to his local city plumbing to check out the brand new Worcester greenstar 1000 combination boiler.
I am sold - finally after decades they sorted their act out - BOG THANK YOU for the video God Bless You
@2.33 the stat monitors the burner door temp, so after servicing will trip if the seals are not in correctly / damaged (nice touch that). Prv and AAV are nice to get to, nice that the plate is accessible still. Looks a nice little unit.
Love your videos! Really educational!
Useful video thanks, I'll be installing one Tuesday.
Old worcester used to impossible to replace parts.
That's super sheap too.
Thank you for the upload. I missed the rep when he was in my merchants with the boiler.
Looks like a good boiler Derek is it ULEZ 😄. Keep up the good vids mate. You talk a lot of sense on here.👍
I haven’t seen one in the flesh yet but I like the ss hex and the usual parts that fail are easily got to from the front , would be good for tight spaces and looks a good price + flue coming in at about
£ 750 inc vat for the 30 kw
I might give one a go on my next landlord budget boiler swop
cheers Derek
👍
Let me know what you think if you do 👍🏻
@@tomkatgastraining I will 👍
Dek, I like it pal, defo be using some, dare I say it... looks as easy as a logic to work on !! Probably the best boiler they've made lol... Stu Hart .. hope you're well mate
From what I know the boiler is a Bosch unit which is manufactured in Portugal. Not bad for a budget offering at that price point.
Thanks Derek , great video. could be a useful budget bolier, do you know if it can be converted for lpg .
That’s the first thing I asked and Lee said not at the moment 👍🏻
So what controls can you use with it? Not a comfort or comfort plus
Apart from the heat exchanger itself it’s the same inside as the 2000. It will be a while before we get feedback from the field on how good the new heat exchanger is. Let’s hope it’s better than the compact.
Best looking worcester iv seen in a long time, but not quite as good as the competition im afraid...still it will make it a bit nicer when im repairing them in 5 years 😂👍👍
What's a better boiler from the competition?
Well done WB, at last you've taken on board installer comments!
Modulation rate a bit disappointing, but how many installers bother.
Wow price has actually shocked me. Will this be my next budget go to boiler 😮 may be or most definatly. Could do with an internal filling loop though 🤔
What about the flow turbine?
I have installed this boiler few weeks ago, there is an issue with the heating and hot water now. Temperature goes 57c both demands goes off and after few minutes it’s starting again. As I understand it’s issue with temperature sensor issue. I will speak with Worcester help line tomorrow. If any advice pls put comments. Many thanks!
Fitted one last week, cheap for Worcester! But I'm used to fitting ones like the ECA Proteus which have built in filling loop
the only thing that might let this boiler down against other budget boilers (i could be wrong) Is the DHW flow rate its not very good which a lot of customers want to see an improvement from their old boilers
Cheap but with some pleasant surprises in the price range; with a somewhat honest design - I think it was a battle between the design engineers and those who set the price limits for the parts...
I'm curious about the reliability:
- 3-way valve
- pump - I have seen this pump model in the past with a broken shaft when it came out of warranty and the owner paid 350E for a new one
- the water flow meter
- the expansion vessel - in recent years I have seen extremely bad expansion vessels on all brands of gas boilers...
- the gasket from the combustion chamber cover - that safety thermostat is put there in case that gasket fails...
- the electronic fan that I encountered with problems on a batch of bosch boilers...
For the rest, I hope they don't have electronic boards with epilepsy or alzheimer software, as I've seen with other brands of boilers in the past (ferroli and immergas + almost all competing models with them that used electronic boards from Bertelli with processors from Freescale but also honeywell (bosch had the first defective boards when they let honeywell make them for them, then they also found out how to make less reliable boards after they got over the pride of honest germans). Electronic boards with ST processors are generally more stable
+ At viessmann I encountered unstable software...
Probably some of these boilers will last for many years, but I expect there will be problems with them due to the combination of selected parts, although it can be seen that they struggled to offer you the maximum for that money
Can it be range rated ?
Yes😊
Looks really good 👍
Where is the fuse for PCB on worcester 1000?
Great vid looks pretty good and I’m not a Worcester lover! What was the bracket all about to hang it?
That’s a standoff bracket so you can run pipes up the back... 👍
The new Baxi duotec 😂
I have installed one last night 😊
What do you think of it... !
Hi Derek
It's good budget boiler for landlord
Regards
Faruk
best boiler Worcester has made in years
Baxi you say?
Makes it easy to repair in the future,
About Dam Time
Yes and no more leaking hydro blocks 😀
Looks a cracking boiler TBF
Landlords will love this boiler 😂
So worcesters' best looking boiler is actually their cheapest lol
Internal filling loop connections ???
Not at the price mate.
It’s about time the stainless steel heat exchanger , Let’s hope they phase out the kebab 😀
What do these boiler manufacturers know that we don't?
First Baxi, Ideal, then Vaillant and now Worcester, all coming out with new boilers this year when gas boilers are supposed to get banned soon. I can't remember the year as it always gets pushed.
Most likely units they had in the pipeline and want to get them out quickly before there's no demand for them. Although I'm still skeptical that the no gas into new builds will even go ahead. Or at least they'll push it back.
Look good
Main is still a better choice imo
Cracking boilers those mains
Looks better than the 2000
Finally they have cone into the 21st century 😂
I think you get what you pay for 😕😕😕
Great video 👌👏👏👏
The Worcester name will sell these boilers .
Doesn't look bad at all.
I like it
Main eco compact is a better option, don’t be fooled by the name
I reckon Worcester bought up all of Ravenheats heat exchangers 😂
It was going so well a stainless heat exchanger, then you open it up and it’s full of plastic composite, you know they will break down and block easily , plus the poor modulation levels it should be 10 to 1 as standard now to get ahead of Government regulations, what a shame
3:59 you can see the money making parts - pump + 3way valve :p
It can't be a real worcester you were inside the casing and it did not cut you to shreds
😂😂😂👍🏻
Poor flow rates though!😂
Stephen Humphreys
The inside look liike a mixture off different boiler mostly valiant, valiant -heat exchanger, valiant expansion Worcester mostly have red exp vessel, valiant diverter valve, glowworm condense trap and you could say even the plate but on some Worcester you have that one screw plate exchanger.
I can see what will happen, give it a few years and we will be cursing this boiler, too much plastic inside because it cheaply designed the plastic components are prone to break.
Let's see not happy with the panel not removing because I can see when draining the boiler sometimes the drain off is stiff can't get your grips on drain off and no space😮
vaillant does not make its primary heat exchanger, but buys it; at Vaillant, the combustion cover gasket is superior in design; that expansion vessel format is used by several manufacturers and from my experience it is not reliable....
the pump scares me the most with this boiler ... I have always had unpleasant experiences with this type of pumps
Plastic parts inside
cant stand worcester boilers. always a headache to work on.
