Any chance I can send you a video of a Logic combi C24? The burner on the indicator goes above the max range on radiator. The temp goes down and then the burner indicator goes on again. Is there a problem with the boiler?
Not sure if you'll read this Allen but this was the best intro to any of your videos and the cleanest and most uncluttered video you've ever done. I'm very proud of how far your videos have come along. Please remain unbiased and try to do a video just like this for as many boilers as possible. Even the Navien (although I'd recommend a manufacturer course first for that one because it looked intimidating). I'd really like to see the same exact specific points for every boiler. Pluses, minuses, maybe start an Allen score system for each boiler. How easy is this part to swap out of 10, that part and that part etc etc. Every boiler gets a score out of whatever. Stainless over aluminium, PRV into condensate gets extra points, cost, warranty, drain off, easy install, modulation rate. You have the viewer base now to start pushing for change and certainly influence engineers so please be careful not to push a particular brand etc. If you recommend stainless over ally and brass hydraulics over composite then more people will realise what makes a good boiler and hopefully induce change in the industry. Sorry for the long message but I've watched your videos for a long time now and this one really stood out. Thank you for what you do already Allen, I hope you can really make a difference going forward.
Had one of these fitted about three weeks ago. It replaced my 20-year-old Baxi 105, which had been limping along for the last few years. So far, this one is great and heats 11 radiators in no time. Hopefully, come winter, it will save me some money.
Looks very easy to work on, nice and compact, stainless steel heat exchanger is a big plus…install is exactly what I would recommended my customers to have in respect to shock arrestor, limescale reducer, magnetic system filter and especially the deaerator, massively under used in my opinion on systems..like that they made it so third party controls can be used, your salus system looks a good bit of kit as well. Great honest review thanks Allen much appreciated 👍
Fitted 3 of these now.Talon clips plus spacers are really useful when fitting pipe laggin . I have fitted different controls, Honeywell and Nest, which seem to work fine. The boilers took a while to purge. I got good hot water flow and temperatures from each boiler.
Hi there @NeilGowers-qx8zc, are you able to advise which specific models of Honeywell and Nest wireless controls have you used with this boiler please? thank you in advance for your help
Video is great Alan, great intro and great explanation. It's nice to see Worchester moving on to the more modern style of boiler by Viessmann and Baxi. I'm not keen on any rubber components as they tend to degrade quite fast. Brass components are a must along with all the additional kit you've installed beneath the boiler will make it last a long time.
We have several Worcester Bosch Boilers in our workshops and the Boiler Fault finding studio, but we don’t have this one yet. To heat the centre we have the 8000 because we needed a large output because the centre is enormous, but to ensure its energy efficient we have installed the Salus Smart home The system to each room is effectively zoned off. It works a treat!
Great little boiler, Ive stayed away from Worcester before (apart from the RI please worcester never change that boiler!!!) due to being service and repair engineer aswell, I could never understand the thought process of how awkward they were to work on! But first day I saw the 1000 in citys I was impressed. Yes it hasnt got brass valves or built in filling loop. But a stainless steel heat exchanger at a budget price thats a big sell for me! Knowing in 7-10 years time im not gonna be thinking about a pin hole! Also its an easy sell when you explain the stainless over alloy! I know alloy has its benefits but its a gamble! When its gona and you have a £600 heat exchanger to replace it doesnt make it economical at all! Great video!!
Hey Alan if you looked carefully on the earth tag what you disconnected from the fan, there is a little lever on the earth clip you press down for easy release ❤❤ good video 🎉🎉
most manus, ask for an hot water expansion vessel, if there is a water meter in the mains. my opinion of this boiler is , good for the price, and easily accessible for service, plus Worcester are very good on support. stainless steel is good providing the system is clean. it does not bloc up the trap, like the aluminium heat ex dissolved oxide can.
I’m an installer and prefer the jigs by far, especially if you’re in a tight space like under stairs or cupboards. I’ve been fitting Worcester since I started 16 years ago so I’m probably just used to them. I can see how they would be a strange adjustment for someone fitting baxi or Vaillant etc. Throwing a Vaillant etc up fast is great provided you have the space to work underneath, this will be the same scenario.
What do you consider the best starting points for the central heating and hot water temperatures? Are the factory defaults reasonable, or are they set too high? Like everyone else, I'm looking to set up the boiler so it works for us without heating up unnecessarily. Thanks!
Good intro. My only concern is if we have to change fibber washer under the boiler after installation, how it gonna be replaced as no flexibility or movement on underneath pipe work. What other people think about valve design? Please comment
Alan, great video. But don't worry about boilers too much. They, come, they go, they change all the time depending on how the manufacturer needs to increase revenue. They will never be as reliable as an old cast iron sectional. Also look after your health before any boilers. Your body is more important than any boiler outside of your control. Keep up the good work
Great video. Disappointed they’re saying you need to change the heat exchanger seal when opening it up. Still a great budget boiler from Worcester Bosch. Single pass heat exchanger for me! ❤

Hi Allen, how easy is it to remove/clean the condense trap on my worcester greenstar? Is this a simple thing to do? I dont know when it was last done. Thankyou!
Quick question. I’ve connected back onto a condense pipe that is fitted into the side of a washing machine stand pipe and been told it’s wrong. Apparently you can’t do that on a Worcester Bosch

Thanks Al, another great video. Fitting one next week to replace an Ideal. Always fit a shock arrestor and scale reducer!. Ive never fitted an aerator. Can you measure how effective they are...?
Hi alan, we have one of these boilers, only had it a month and broke down twice, both times water was found in the flue, boiler installer is blaming our rowan pipes for overflowing near the flue and yet the old boiler they took out never had an issue, bosch came out and theyre engineer stated poor installation, and the installer has had 2 engineers out, one blames our rowan pipe the other says “its not the flue i think the heat exchanger is leaking”, any ideas, i would have thought if water was collecting in the flue then the gutter that your video shows isnt working as it should to take excess away !
Hi, do you think this would be a suitable boiler to replace our old Baxi combi Instant HE? For a small terrace house with 1 shower, three basins and kitchen sink. We also have about 8 radiators. Thanks, George
Nice review Al, think spacing off the clips is going to make pipe work take longer to get onto existing feeds than competitors, I'm not sold on the de- aerators as its another component to purchase/position and I find old systems with chemicals kept topped up can have little corrosion over a very long period. What's your current go to budget combi and will you be changing over?
Look for a silver braided hose with 2 black valves, move them both inline with the pipe at the same time and once the pressure is at desired shut black valves back off
Just installed one of these. Switched it on ready to comission and it comes up with fault code 2910. Never seen this before. Showing fan or flue issues. Thanks Gavin
Looking at a new boiler Alan and would appreciate your input I'm looking between the Viessmann Vitodens 050-W 30kW or the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 30kW, any recommendations between the two? Thanks for any help
That’s a really good question, It really depends what you want. Service from Worcester Bosch would definitely be better from my experience but i would be happy with either. Check out Heatable bit.ly/45wY7Qu for a fixed price quotation.
2:06 I have bad experiences with the Afriso stile air vents…. Viessmann use them too on their Vitodens 200 series in the past - some of them are ok but not all of them …
It’s a brand everyone knows. The price point and brand name will win customers over. The ease of service will win installers over. I think it’s going to be a popular boiler at the budget end.
@@AllenHart999 Hi Allen. The company I’m subbing to at the moment are 100% Ideal. Unfortunately I doubt very much I will be installing any with this company but personally I see it as a winner all round.
This boiler has a venting issue with it there 6 wires connecting on the pump disconnect the three wire plug on the pump then pump runs to full speed to remove the air out of system quicker.
on the third day or so this new stopped heating water in comfort mode. somehow it still heats water in eco mode, for 2 minutes for a shower. all parameters are good, the chimney is cleaned, etc. it only heats water when the water off, nothing (or couple seconds untill 32 C on flow).
Hi Allen really enjoying your videos learnt so much about boilers. Quick fire,, 2 bed flat four rads 1 shower best budget workhorse 24kw combi ? So many types 😢
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 or the Main Eco Compact. Now that's a really good question. It would really depend on the customer. The Worcester Bosch 1000 should be a very easy sell. What’s your opinion ?
@@AllenHart999 With you knowing both boilers quite well and the cost of both being comparable which would you choose if you had to pick one. Again Main have kept it simple and is virtually a Baxi 600 inside which as you know gets good reliability scores.
@@AllenHart999 glowworm energy…or the compact for a budget boiler, they’re stainless steel too. Although I don’t understand how they’re cheaper as I thought stainless steel is dearer to make
It still available almost in the same prices as Main Eco Compact, which has the brass components. Why should I install this boiler instead of Main Eco Compact? Only plus i found are the underneath piping.
Be great if worcester made a boiler with a rear flue option, this looks a fantastic boiler to install but the rival valliant wins with cupboard installs due to the rear entry flue option, shame they make the bottom of the boiler out of plastic, thats why i always pre-pipe before installation, i am still a worcester bosch fan 😊 great video alan cheers 🍻
@AllenHart999 as an installer of 20 years. Yes, I believe that this will be a huge change to the budget boiler market, 1 not only for installation . But also as a service and repair point of view. It's a defo game changer 👍
Best budget boiler? Take it your pro gas again? Best range of boilers for any budget, British brand best customer support, no quibble warranty IDEAL Also has the majority market share, Numbers don’t lie, time to reclaim our shores and get behind this great British brand IDEAL the working man’s boiler 💪
It is cheap but very noisy boiler, say vokera around 25 years ago made boiler noise level.. Or in other terms its 52dB, which is a lot more than other boilers you can get, so do no install it in any living spaces.
A bit of a silly design if we need to put spacers on clips at least with the 2000 model they gave you the bent tails for the flow and return..... but that's my opinion. Other than that looks a great boiler.
@AllenHart999 I don't have a preference, Allen I like the worcester boilers to be fair install loads of em. My go to budget boiler for landlords is the main or baxi, solid boilers, and easy to maintain. I dont really like the 2000 if I'm honest. The condense on them is a bit flimsy. I've had a few leaking, so I had to go back. And also not a fan of the pipe arrangement, same as the 1000 😩 lol 😆
Burner and combustion door are identical to Baxi. Gasket looks the same too. Baxi is reusable, Worcester isn’t. Worcester say strip out burner every 5 years even though it’s easy. I always remove the burner on 600/800 every year for cleaning because it’s so easy.
This isn’t a Baxi 600 or 800 though, It’s a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 and we need to do what Worcester Bosch require, Personally i am in favour of replacing the seal at 5 year. Thanks for the feedback
I have this boiler and it is much louder than the 17 year-old Worcester boiler it replaced. I added sound proofing to the boiler cupboard but it is still much louder than I'd like. I wouldn't recommend it.
Get behind ideal boilers, British brand, excellent machines, best customer service, And get a local engineer to fit it Times are changing, Forget online boiler suppliers and out of town boiler fitters Make Britain great again
Don't be fooled by this boiler. Just had it installed 2 days ago and I personally would not recommend it to anybody looking for a reliable product. I didn't choose it because of the price but rather the installers recommended it over the other greenstar models that I initially was leaning towards, like Greenstar 4000. Regardless, 10min after the installation the boiler is dripping water on the front-right corner and is thus loosing pressure. It isn't leaking at the pipe level but rather inside the boiler itself, which makes me think that QA wasn't done right.. Not only that but unlike any other boiler I've had before (And I had 3, including new and old products lilke Greenstar 4000, Vokera 25, Powermax 140), this one is buzzing like a bee. It creates vibrations that travel through the walls and can be now heard in the whole flat, which is extremely annoying. I am now seriously looking into replace this piece of crap and install something more reliable.
20:18 - I hate when boilers manufacturers use custom pumps …. They are evil in that … In a Gas 4000 on One of my friend boilers the pump motor shaft broke when It came out of warranty and he had to pay 350E for a new One and the boiler value was 750 E If the pump was a generic wilo or grundfos the price would have been half… + the 3 way valve they use is known to be very unreliable…. Bosch and all the boiler manufacturers they know how to make reliable 3 way valves for cheap but they don’t want to do It …
Nowhere as a good as the Baxi main eco compact, The eco compact , bullet proof, Brass, hydro bloc, & components. & filling loop included, Worcester lost there way , when they stopped making CDIs
@ 1:52 in the last years this kind of expansion vessels were very unreliable … on all brands of boilers !!! It is not normal after more than 100+ years of making them we should not have expansion vessels that fails after 1-4 years in quite large numbers…
They have hundred percent ripped every feature from other manufacturers Pretty much proves that worcester spend all their money on branding and advertising instead of product development
@@AllenHart999 30 kw version is 7.1kw at 40/30 and 7.01kw at 50/30 and 6.4 kw at 80/60. Ridiculous. Nowhere near good enough. The 24kwh is 5.8 which will be massively oversized for almost any house considering this. Gross that they can claim it's 94% seasonal efficiency. Yeh maybe for a hotel.
Like to see you install a 2000 range. Especially pipes coming up through a worktop. There are shocking. No movement at all really tight to fit all pipes. - the filling link is a joke to fit. And the gas valve is far to tight to the prv. It’s seriously rubbish. And pipes can’t go up the back of boiler. Embarrassing really for such a big company. Another point is a lot of the condense fittings leak. I’m not fitting any more far to time consuming
It’s a Worcester. Which means only one thing. Eventually the plastics will disintegrate and leak. Only three things guaranteed in life, that’s death, taxes and Worcester plastics made from cheese. Apart from that they at least appear to have dragged themselves in to the modern era, typically about twenty years behind every one else. But typically for Worcester they still do stupid stuff. I mean who designs a boiler where the pipe connections don’t bring you clip distance off the wall? I think from memory the leaky flow adapter is behind the pump? Also sending a boiler out with transit screws in the glue connection is just plain stupid. God knows how many of these we will be ARing on the first visit cos the installer never read the instructions. Five year warranty is pathetic. A logic combi is tried and tested. The issues with heat exchangers are long gone. They are cheaper with double the warranty. Is it true this 1000 still doesn’t support open therm? I won’t be recommending these. I’ve had to repair far too many Worcesters for far too many years. I will stick to logics and Vaillants as my recommendation. Or I actually like the newer baxi 800 etc.

Get at least 1:8 modulation on the Viessmann, 1:5 on this.
How do I repressurise it? Dont see any valve with a blue handle like others state and I dont wanna go messing with it.
Cheers
No pipe spacer bracket?
Worcester Bosch have said it will need spacer for pipes to go up back. Thanks.
For the price certainly....but how long it lasts or reliable who knows
2:06 I have bad experiences with the Afriso stile air vents…. Viessmann use them too on their Vitodens 200 series in the past - some of them are ok but not all of them …
It will be very interesting to see how reliable the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 air vent is. Thanks.
It’s a brand everyone knows. The price point and brand name will win customers over. The ease of service will win installers over.
I think it’s going to be a popular boiler at the budget end.
What brand do you install at the moment Paul? Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 Hi Allen. The company I’m subbing to at the moment are 100% Ideal. Unfortunately I doubt very much I will be installing any with this company but personally I see it as a winner all round.
@@Paul_YHPS_uk Thank you for responding. Ideal logic gas boilers are really easy to install.
A quick run down on the onboard controls would be nice..
I will do a video on the controls soon. Thanks.
Has anyone had venting issues with this boiler air vent is very low in the boiler. Please comment how you overcome that
it has a vent function on it.
Is it deburred ?
no
Hi Allen really enjoying your videos learnt so much about boilers. Quick fire,, 2 bed flat four rads 1 shower best budget workhorse 24kw combi ? So many types 😢
Lots of good options these days. Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 tell me about it !erring towards the baxi 200 combo 2 have a baxi now and been pretty solid👍
Great video Alan! Would you pick the WB Greenstar 1000 or the Main Eco Compact?
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 or the Main Eco Compact. Now that's a really good question. It would really depend on the customer. The Worcester Bosch 1000 should be a very easy sell. What’s your opinion ?
@@AllenHart999 With you knowing both boilers quite well and the cost of both being comparable which would you choose if you had to pick one. Again Main have kept it simple and is virtually a Baxi 600 inside which as you know gets good reliability scores.
I think I like it….apart from having to put spacers behind clips
Which gas boilers do you install at the moment? Thanks.
Do you think your customer will think the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 is the best budget gas boiler in the UK or the Main eco compact? Thanks.
As a budget boiler do you believe the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 will rock the market? Thanks.
@AllenHart999 as an installer of 20 years. Yes, I believe that this will be a huge change to the budget boiler market, 1 not only for installation . But also as a service and repair point of view. It's a defo game changer 👍
@@samueldunning2412 Thank you very much for your feedback
@@samueldunning2412I hope it's decent I'm going to purchase one.

Numbers don’t lie, time to reclaim our shores and get behind this great British brand
IDEAL the working man’s boiler 💪
I probably one of the most balanced when it comes to gas v other technologies. I mainly use electric via heat pump at my house. Thanks for the input
Thanks Allen
Thank you, Let me know if you would like any more videos.
Really well explained.
Thank You very much for watching.
People need to know:
0. Price
1. How much gas per hour
2. Noise level
3.Modulation 1:?
4. Hot Water l/minute
Thank You
It is cheap but very noisy boiler, say vokera around 25 years ago made boiler noise level..
Which boiler do you install ? Worcester Bosch Greenstar 2000
Going to be a good seller I think
Absolutely 💯 other manufacturers need to be worried. Thanks.
I have heard comments from customers that this boiler can be very noisy, especially in DHW mode. Any comments?
I have this boiler and it is much louder than the 17 year-old Worcester boiler it replaced. I added sound proofing to the boiler cupboard but it is still much louder than I'd like. I wouldn't recommend it.
It is much better then the 4000 worcester went backwards with that the 25I and the 30I was much better
Get behind ideal boilers,
British brand, excellent machines, best customer service,
And get a local engineer to fit it
Times are changing,
Forget online boiler suppliers and out of town boiler fitters
Make Britain great again
Very little British about any brand these days but i get your point. I do reviews on most brands. Thanks.
Worcester have realised after 20 years to ditch the jigs - follow ideal haha
Only on the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 Thanks.
It’s not a cuboard fit. If you have too use the space frame too pipe behind ….just a note 😳
If you need to take the pipes up the back you might be better with a Worcester Bosch 4000
Yep. I agree. Just in case anybody purchases one too put in a kitchen cupboard and needs too rear pipe …love the vids Alan ….never miss one 👍🏻ged
@@gerardodonnell740 do you like the new format? Thank You
Yep spot on. ….very swish 👍🏻. Look forward to seeing the new vids

20:18 - I hate when boilers manufacturers use custom pumps …. They are evil in that …
In a Gas 4000 on One of my friend boilers the pump motor shaft broke when It came out of warranty and he had to pay 350E for a new One and the boiler value was 750 E
If the pump was a generic wilo or grundfos the price would have been half…
+ the 3 way valve they use is known to be very unreliable….
Bosch and all the boiler manufacturers they know how to make reliable 3 way valves for cheap but they don’t want to do It …
Thank You
I usually choose Worcester becouse of the difference between budget boilers. Now I get hit by something like that
Like single pass
Like prv
Like plate access
Don't mind additional filling loop as the keyless ones let by
Pro vid that
Thank you very much for your feedback.
CDI range is the best ….bullet proof
Nowhere as a good as the Baxi main eco compact,
The eco compact , bullet proof,
Brass, hydro bloc, & components.
& filling loop included,
Worcester lost there way , when they stopped making CDIs
Thank you.
So WB finally realised how well designed the ECOTEC Plus 800 is and copied it…😅
Not sure the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 is like a Ecotec Plus 800
Cheap but the modulation of 5:1 puts me off
Which budget boiler is best in your opinion
@ 1:52 in the last years this kind of expansion vessels were very unreliable … on all brands of boilers !!!
It is not normal after more than 100+ years of making them we should not have expansion vessels that fails after 1-4 years in quite large numbers…
What is the reason the expansion vessel fails in your experience? Undersized maybe
They have hundred percent ripped every feature from other manufacturers Pretty much proves that worcester spend all their money on branding and advertising instead of product development
👍👍
Me casually watching knowing im not changing my greenstar HE ZWB 7-30 anytime soon.
Baxi main are much better boilers I’ve only fitted 8 of these wb 1000. Starting to give me problems. Already:/ never again.
Why is there no pressure gauge on front try teaching old folk how to understand a digital display
This is the cheapest boiler. The 2000 has a pressure gauge on the front.
The minimum modulation on this boiler is absolutely unacceptable for 2023.
Do you know what it is? I believe it’s market-leading in the budget market. Thanks.
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 2000 video ruclips.net/video/fyxOvmntSXg/видео.html
I detest Worcester and their bizarre designs and over-engineering. This one, however, looks about as straightforward as it gets!
