How bout a steering wheel noise coming from a cable on a Honda Ridgeline?
@@tonymontana3742
I think there was a TSB for that.
@@rays7437 Dealer replaced mine two years ago and it's started to make noise again, not sure the noise means something negative, maybe something I have to live with idk.
@@tonymontana3742
I have noticed that some people have trouble with one side but not the other. My wife's car has had 2 CV axle failures on the same side, for example. We had the car 8 years and never had a problem. Then I realized that after we moved to a new place, we are have to make sharp turns and U-turns that we never made before. And those turns are in the same direction. I have started asking my customers if they have similar circumstances and most of them have said yes. I have also noticed that a lot of people wear out brakes on one side faster than the other and there is no problem with the calipers due to similar situations.
@@tonymontana3742
You have have them checked again, regardless
Watching videos like this make me car hypochondriac. Now I am paranoid about every single thing I hear inside my car.
I think thats why I watch these vids! lol that way when I do I'll know what to do. Nice one
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not a bad thing..

I wish I had a honest mechanic like you Scotty
(In no way intending to be a "holier than you".)
When i have intended to sell my cars i went ahead & put in quality parts in consideration of the next owner. We reap what we sow in this life, and in eternity.
sleepyhollow783 ,,,, as a young couple just starting out, my wife and I put 300,000 miles on a used 1978 Toyota celica ,,,,we bought it from an honest gentleman , and depended on that car, which got us thru some difficult financial times. That car was a blessing,
I vary- if it's hard to access or really important then it's good stuff only. If it's easy or cheap then they can make the decision on quality themselves later on when the cheap stuff goes "boom".
Have you been reading gods holly bible sir? Good for you.
Very kind and considerate. I've had dreadful experience with my car and eventually my mechanic conceded that it was due to poor maintenance from previous owners. You are totally correct.
same. i can't ever sell anything to someone without telling them exactly what i know is wrong with it, i've been lucky enough to never be screwed by private parties, it's always the dealers... =/
*Car breaks down*
Voice in the trunk: You should have bought a 94 celica
Austin France lol
But you bought da 98 Tacoma!
😂😂😂
What you don’t want to hear in your trunk is a voice saying
“So if you never wanna miss one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring that bell!”
🤣🤣
LOL!!!
Hahahahaha! That would be the most heart-attack inducing noise you can hear inside your car, but on the plus side... You'll have the best damn mechanic with you, in your car. So not all bad I suppose XD
SlapStyle Anims How about a voice coming from your trunk saying HELP, I CANT BREATHE!
That just means the seals on your trunk are still good XD
Y'know the Germans used to do what was called the "cat test" to judge rubber seals... They'd put a cat in a car and then check on it the next day. If the cat was hadn't suffocated, ze quality was not adequate.Britain had a similar system. They'd put a cat in a car and then check on it the next day. If the cat hadn't escaped from the car, quality was top notch!
Cruel, but still funny joke courtesy of Jeremy Clarkson.
Your mother in law is another noise you don't want to hear in your car or anywhere! ;-)
Maybe try the trunk. And drive with your music loud! Hahaha
I made the same post, thought I would be the only one to think of it. Shows how big Scotty's following is.

You know what's sad, I was talking to a mechanic one time & he mentioned that he would often youtube videos like these to fix the problem. He stated that many mechanics do this. They are not always going to know the answer just right away.

This video is so excellent! Honestly, the editing and the way he speaks makes it impossible to lose attention to what’s being explained. So fantastic. I want this guy to teach everything. Like not just car stuff. :)
Number 6: Police sirens behind you.
Yes! That’s not good.
You have got to be one of the best. I am hooked on almost everything you help people with. Plus you are enjoyable to watch and listen. My wife loves ya too.
scotty hands is in perfect sync with his voice
Bald headed old man with glasses, but I love him! He KNOWS cars!
5:17 is the sound I make when Scotty uploads
You’re inside the power steering system?
CAR: I'M AN ENDLESS MONEY PIIIT!
Unless it's a 94 Toyota Celica
Also Car: You will tend to my needs and you will like it
Don't wait for your axles to make a loud clicking noise before you notice the problem. Visually inspect them. A broken axle while going 70 on the highway will flip your car. My axle never made a sound and broke when I made a right turn into traffic. My car was disabled in the middle on the intersection and I had no idea that was coming. Sometimes they don't make noise. If your mechanic suggests a repair, ask them what's the danger if neglected and then decide if it's too expensive
I had a Ford Escort SE and I heard this clicking sound that was intermittent coming from the transmission it sounded like. Turns out that it was a cylinder 3 misfire and it was basically a defect in the engine that was on some forums I read about. I got maybe 13,000 miles out of the vehicle for 2300 dollars. The worst part was that we bought it from a family friend and the mechanic even told me the vehicle ran great. Needless to say, I never bought another vehicle from him again.
5:17 my alarm clock
I never want to miss a new car repair video, so I rang that bell.
Bout time you started that Toyota. I was starting to think it was just a prop.😉
I've been using a long screwdriver for years to check engine and accessory noises.
Good advice Scotty

I was listening to Bill Burr’s Monday morning podcast and he mentioned that he likes your RUclips channel. I don’t know what episode, but he didn’t mention names but he did say the show that starts off saying “rev up your engines!” I knew it was your channel he was talking about because I’ve been watching your channel for years and so has Bill Burr.

It’s like listening to a doctor explain the details of a surgery, Scotty you’re amazing, wish you were my mechanic! God bless!
Don't forget, a bad AC condenser can be the source of a bad ticking sound as well. Had that happen to me once on my 03 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L. I was VERY glad to find out my AC condenser was shot!
Scotty, thank you for the content!

Love your videos, Scotty. Helpful and entertaining. I've saved a lot of money now fixing my cars myself. Love your advice on car buying too. One question: If you put your hands in your pockets, are you still able to talk? (lol). You are a great guy, Scotty. Keep up the good work.
I have a 2005 Ford E250, last year I was having handling problems when pulling my 31 foot camper. Replaced shocks, drag link and all connecting linkage. Problem still exited, this went on all summer. In October at the last Fair in Ohio the power steering pump quit pumping some of the time. When I got back home I replaced it, then the problem was gone. Had the van to 3 different alignment shops during the summer and none of them found out that the pump persure was fluctuating causing all the problems. I replaced all the parts myself so didn't shell out lots of money for labor or I would be living in a cardboard box. LOL
Enjoy your videos, you might want to mention this rare problem as 3 certified mechanics missed it. I only found out after it quite pumping properly.
Love his sense of humor. Great video.
Like always.
I've found that power steering pump noises can sometimes be caused by dirty fluid - Ford Five-Hundred PS pump was making noise, and the fluid was looking pretty nasty. After a complete fluid change, the noise went away and the steering felt much better.
Just be careful when draining the fluid, I ended up making a heck of a mess on the garage floor. And the Five-Hundred uses transmission fluid for PS fluid, which smells awful.
I love when you make example with the sound of the malfunctions
One of the first major repairs I had to make on my first car was to replace the steering pump in my 1983 Camaro. We purchased a new pump but there was a problem: the wheel on the pump needed to be removed from the old pump and out on the new one. It required a special tool that the guy at the parts store "forgot" to tell us about. Oh, he also "forgot" to tell us that they would loan it to us, because most of their customers would only use it once. So, we tried everything we could think of to pull the wheel until it was bowled up and ruined. Thankfully, the salvage yard had a pump with a wheel that they sold us for $15.00 (this was in the mid 1990's). We returned the new pump. The manager at the parts store was not happy that his employee's negligence cost them a $90.00 sale.
Thanks for this valuable info, Scotty.
Scotty Kilmer you are hilarious yet informative! I love the sound you made for the power steering pump going bad around 5:30 LOL!!! Keep up the great work and love your videos!

Lucas power steering sealer/conditioner works amazingly well. I've had that stuff literally fix power steering issues on it's last leg. Can save hundreds of dollars in some cases.

I've decided I'm just gonna watch all your videos. I love to learn about stuff nothing beats experience.
Scotty, can you please do more behind the scenes/outtakes? Thanks!
I got stuck at the side of the road in September with my moms Infiniti Q60. I have been telling my dad about the belt squeal for months and of course it broke when I was driving it
Check the pulleys for misallingnment or the belt tensioner might be bad. It shouldnt squeal.
LaZaRItOLnObLE M it’s a common issue with that model, build date January-may 2017. It was a warranty repair but techs were good about making sure everything was aligned properly
Wow. A lot of info in a few minutes. Thanks
I just love your videos.. and your tagline. Just wish you also covered diesel cars since mine is a Toyota D4D 1.9 litre diesel..

True that! I have bought plumbing items and had to go back several times until I bought one of the better ones. You don't have to buy the best...just a good one. Otherwise you will pay 3X as much unless you live next door to a parts store.

Great advice Scotty. Don't make the mistake I made many year's ago. I tried replacing a power steering hose ( high pressure) with just a piece of rubber hose and a radiator clamp. We were in my brother's new garage, and then we started it. Needless to say, it was very messy, lol.
