Thank you for awknowledge Cher's rendition! For me it is one of the most powerful and best renditions of the national anthem, but very few people seem to care about it.
Very well done video. You analyzed everything while giving examples to each. Personally, the 👑 goes to the trinity. Whitney did the most fierce, strong, empowering, inspiring version. Celine, whose performance is very underrated, added very cool adlibs whole DELIVERING Eb5 left and right. And Mimi delivered a more vulnerable, emotional, sensitive yet unique while ofc using her range as her biggest weapon to showcase her musicality. After the legends, I would say I really enjoyed Madison’s version.

Where's Lady Gaga and why is no one talking about her incredible performances of the national anthem??? Her version has literally been ranked the 2nd best right after Whitney
I personally don't like it. I feel like she is always showing off, yet adding nothing to the song. She has a decent range, but there's no emotions or depth behind it and her tone is quite bland.. Just my opinion though.
@@oliver_liew I kind of agree, she was just showing off for the sake of it and kinda loosing the melody and mood of the song in the process. More is not always more, sometimes less is more.
As Lea Solonga once said: we all have different instruments, and those instruments shine differently on specific notes. The original key of a song is irrelevant if it doesn’t suit your voice. The reason Whitney’s, Beyoncé’s, and many other renditions were so successful is because the key was perfect. It’s impressive if a mezzo can attempt a soprano’s key, but it’s much more honorable to hear the anthem sung in the way the singer can show the best parts of their voice.
@BlackMamba lmao!!! I wasn’t really implying that. It was more of a statement about how mezzos shouldn’t go for soprano keys in general, and the only reason a song is difficult is because it’s not in their key and not the song itself. LOL
@BlackMamba Chile, please. It isn't. Not everyone lipsyncs in front of a whole football stadium and live viewers on TV right in their prime when the voice is intact. ruclips.net/video/BY0gY_Jju2E/видео.html
Ally was SO nervous on that perfomance, I feel so sad cause she could have killed on the key she was doing, but she sounded rough on the whole perfomance sadly, even her G5 transition sounded weak (Also she performed It this year and lowered the key on one tone, compared to the one she did, and sounded really good! Even tho she struggled a little bit with the lows) 7:21 the resonance!!! Queen
@Sne thanks a lot for sharing that clip and also explaining clearly why u think otherwise. Appreciate the courtesy. That said, honestly I'm still not really convinced. I never said she was a horrible singer, I just said I think she's average. In my opinion, her vocals in that clip didn't really stand out much and were a little shaky. She also went off key in a few parts. It was pretty much at the level you would usually see on shows like American Idol etc. She is perhaps a good singer, but not great. Of course there's nothing wrong with that though. I do jam out to her song Low Key sometimes haha..

Ariana went for the high note at the end and sustained it, she didn't hit the head/falsetto note on the "free" part, give her some props for that, all singers do the opposite by lack of stamina, Celine did marvelous as always👑
I think Ari should’ve went into head. Her head voice is so strong and would’ve sounded more pleasing on the closed vowel. I think women should always use head for the part but men may vary depending on vocal color
Ari is great. I think it’s more of a stylistic choice that most of these singers flip to their head tones on that part. Whitney did it first and I think the others just followed suit.
Whitney chose to use head to change the color of the note, but we know that she could easily hit that Eb in mix as well! It was a creative choice. We shouldn’t discredit singers who choose to do one or the other. Both are equally impressive.
@@whitneyhoustonstan2472 i know, i'm not discrediting any artist, i'm just saying that is very hard, cause is a very hard note to execute and lots of singers are not brave enough to pull it off and that's totally okay though, my point is that we should also give props to people who are brave enough for go to the hardest things
Cher’s version is so underappreciated. She did amazingly it. Mariah and Whitney of course are both the standards for belters and melismatics. Always the biggest influences ♥️
Nothing will beat Whitney Houston's in my opinion. Though I will say that you did forget one, which was actually the version that inspired Whitney to change the rhythm and melody a bit for her and that was Marvin Gaye's version from the 1983 NBA All-Star game. He didn't just sing it, it turned it into a song with soul. He gave it a smooth R&B rhythm. He made our national anthem just freaking cool.
Not enough clips of Mariah's version! I loved her rendition and thought she made some wonderful note changes and riffs. Her whistle of course was amazing, but I also love her take on the very last "brave" note..
Whitney's voice is a human treasure. Dead or alive, she is for sure the best female voice in music history. Whitney Houston was a born star. she was a gift from mother Nature The golden standard of a females voice. everyone wishes they could sound like her, men and women. The world's greatest singer. Totally agree. It always fires me up when people embellish this song. This is not the time to be adding runs and riffs all over the place. Do the respectful thing and sing it the way it was written. It's not a pop anthem.
Decent?
The person who wrote the music to The Star Spangled Banner had a great sense of humor...knew even a seasoned singer would struggle with it.
Whitney's version is the gold standard.. period.. full stop! Marvin Gaye's version is crazy good too. You may want to re-edit this vid to include his version. Plus you could have played more of Whitney, since she is the queen. What's was up with that? Ugh!!!
Whitney just always had a smooth control that was powerful and never overbearing. Nobody quite like her in the world.
Thank you for awknowledge Cher's rendition! For me it is one of the most powerful and best renditions of the national anthem, but very few people seem to care about it.
Pink was sick when she sang the National Anthem and she still killed it
Very well done video. After the legends, I would say I really enjoyed Madison’s version.
madison slayed hers tbh idk if i prefer her bc shes more my generation but i even prefer her version over arianas😩
@@jae8378 Same tbh. Maybe if Ari sings it now it will sound much better, because she had improved, but for me Madison was much more sufficed.
@BlackMamba For my TASTE:
1) Trinity
2) Destiny’s Child
3) Madison
@@Ryan_K535 always funnt=y when they bunch Whitney with other singers especially on the national anthem, unfortunately it is delusional and the whole world knows.. Whitney is the best, no peer on this song sorry
@@odumosuolusegun2781 I respect your OPINION. 😊
Whitney has the best rendition, love Mariah’s own also. I still can’t believe fergie thought she did a thing 😂
I think one of Arianas strengths its closed vowels, her time on broadway was really worth it, the guy was amazing too, bet he’s from musical theater, and Celine did it perfectly, as a vocal Star she is!! It‘s so difficult to sustain this vowel openly, props to them 👏
You called it! That guy is Jeremy Jordan, and he is definitely from musical theater. I highly recommend looking up videos of his singing ☺️
Hannah Reece Oh thx for the name!!! I’m gonna check it out!!
Whitney's version is the best rendition for me. She made you feel it into your soul and your bones.
Lady Gaga being compared/seeing the difference between Whitney Houston is a *COMPLIMENT*
Cyndi Lauper vs. Gaga, Lauper wins by 2000 points. Whitney and Mariah are great like Charice. But the most perfect version is Lea Salonga voice of Mulan and Princess Jasmine.

Whitney Houston version for me is the golden standard!❤👍
Whitney is the best.❤️No one can sing it like her. Every time I hear the song when she sings it she gives me goosebumps😍
Thank you for adding Christina Grimmie to this video. RIP to that queen. She was a vocal beast.❤️
Where's Lady Gaga and why is no one talking about her incredible performances of the national anthem??? Her version has literally been ranked the 2nd best right after Whitney
Agree. Lady Gaga at The Inauguration was as good or a close close second to Whitney.
Exactly, this video is all about the other performances Lady gaga was incredible and at the top of all of them, her delivery was emotional
I don’t think so. I love lady Gaga but IMO after whitney my second fave is prolly Beyoncé’s version
@Quaker 2019 oh you must be such a nice person!!!
Cher is brilliant
Nicole literally is so extra with every performance and I’m living for it! 😂🙌❤️
Her range is so good omg o.o
I personally don't like it. I feel like she is always showing off, yet adding nothing to the song. She has a decent range, but there's no emotions or depth behind it and her tone is quite bland.. Just my opinion though.
@@oliver_liew .___________.
Ikr..lol its kinda funny but I love her:>
@@oliver_liew I kind of agree, she was just showing off for the sake of it and kinda loosing the melody and mood of the song in the process.
More is not always more, sometimes less is more.
Whitney! - no one compares to her, the other versions - they pale in proportion. What a legend she was.
LOL
Haaaaiiii nako national anthem pa nila nahirapan pa sila kumanta pero pag Pinay kumanta nyan parang baliwala lang 😅😅😅

Fun American history fact: Whitney Houston created patriotism with her version of the National Anthem.
Ally was SO nervous on that perfomance, I feel so sad cause she could have killed on the key she was doing, but she sounded rough on the whole perfomance sadly, even her G5 transition sounded weak
(Also she performed It this year and lowered the key on one tone, compared to the one she did, and sounded really good! Even tho she struggled a little bit with the lows)
7:21 the resonance!!! Queen
Honestly, I think she is really quite an average singer.. I'm sure nerves played a part, but perhaps it wouldn't have been amazing either way.
@@oliver_liew you for sure don't know her
@Sne thanks a lot for sharing that clip and also explaining clearly why u think otherwise.
@@oliver_liew The girl can sing but I feel like it really depends on the song and sometimes it takes a while to get into the song when she finally shines. I am not always impressed but she was one of my favorites when she was competing on X Factor due to her personality.

Mariah didn’t attempt she slayed too
💯💯💯💯💯 I can't believe folks really like that Mariah Carey version 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The Destiny's Child and solo Beyonce need to NEVER be played. Doing too much ruins the song

me too, im so sick of people hating on her or saying she cant sing
Lets be real, Fergie's was the worst version Ive ever heard.
and the one from this past month at that republican convention
Carl Lewis too!!!
I didn’t like Lady Gaga performance at the inauguration either. If I remember correctly, she’s a classically trained musician and her performance to me was terrible. But that’s just my opinion.
Whitney will forever be the singer who made the Star Spangled Banner truly great.
Whitney set the bar so high! You feel something in that performance that no other singer could bring 😩 she has anointing, she has a God given gift! she poured love into every note 👸🏿
I'm just going to say one thing: Chloe x Halle
Exactly
@@whitneyhoustonstan2472 Amen. And the resonance in Whitney’s head tone still gives me the chills. ♥️

Whitney, Cher, P!nk and Lady Gaga! You said almost nothing about Pink. Even though she had the flu, she did a great performance.

Tiffany's belts are amazing. Her technique slays. Kelly's version is also nice.
Cher’s version is so underappreciated. She did amazingly it.

golden standerd is the VOICE of all Queen,No other than WHITNEY HOUSTON
RIP Christina Grimmie 😢😢😢
Whitney Houston's superbowl rendition is the standard.. everyone tries to live up to that rendition but most cannot.
Guys, you guys have to see Cher's 1999 Super Bowl rendition, magical ☄
Whitney's voice is a human treasure.
Dead or alive, she is for sure the best female voice in music history.
Whitney Houston was a born star. she was a gift from mother Nature The golden standard of a females voice. everyone wishes they could sound like her, men and women. The world's greatest singer.
Whitney is a master of all the techniques, 1) resonance, 2) Vibrato, 3) Colorature 4)inflections 5) scaling up and down 6) natural 7)falsetto or soft soprano for a woman 8) throat, diaphram and head singing 9) Crescendo and decrescendo and breath control 10) staccato and perfect diction
Than to top THAT, she was also physically the MOST beautiful singer to ever exist as well
Yup The creator showed off in making her 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼💕
They tried to turn the anthem into a church song 😭😭😭
Nope. Into a singing contest, imo. 🤣 Most of them only sing it to show off techniques, and don't care to "move" the audience to be a hero for their country. 🙄 Btw church songs still sound heart warming thou. At least in my playlists. 😁
Donna Summer is so underrated. She did a good rendition as well. No annoying extra runs & whatnot.
I love the vocal elements added by Mariah and Legend at the end of the video. Shows the uniqueness of each artist.
Edit: and every other artist.
Actually my favorite version is destiny's child. Incredible harmonies
Whitney and Demi’s for me ❤️
