These two are the most honest genuine no bullshit Drs for hair loss I’ve ever come across.
I suffered hair loss from a young age and used finasteride near 20 years ago. I was a super responder and my hair seemed to grow back while I was on it, I managed to keep a lot of my hair well into my late 30s. Now in my late 40s I’ve decided to let nature take its course. Although I have just started a course of Fin again just to see how much I can thicken it out.
The information these guys give is second to none. And took scouring the internet and books to find 20-30 years ago

I started using this “Amy Grow” hair oil in college and left it behind for newer brands. I’ve had some thinning due to braids and decided to go back and re-try this oil and I wish I had never left. I like the smell of the natural oil. This natural oil does not smell like coconuts or birthday cake or fruit like many other hair products. Instead, it smells earthy and natural and I prefer that. I would not say this is an instant miracle oil, but I have seen growth with regular use and massaging of my scalp. Yes, it is oil, but it also helps to soften my coarse, kinky hair, but I can see it being greasy if you have a smoother texture or straighten your hair. I would not apply this at bedtime because it can stain your sheets. Instead, I apply it in the morning so it has time to absorb during the day. Overall I highly recommend this “Amy-Grow” natural hair oil. It’s affordable, the ingredients are natural and it can assist growth. The amount you apply depends on your texture and style, so start with a couple of drops and go from there.

Hi doc’s, I’m 22 years old this year and got marked at a 3 vertex. Although when looking at models of a 3 vertex, I feel I look better. I was told a FUE transplant would be a great option and if I maintained finasteride I would not have to worry of losing my hair any further and post transplant. I’m healthy and athletic with no issues with ED, but should I be worried about finateride side effects? And is the transplant a smart option if i use fin? Thanks guys.

    • @TheHairLossShow
      @TheHairLossShow  4 года назад +34

Jay, this is a great question and really does highlight the issues.
Firstly, you are quite young to already be a 3 vertex. Please don't take that badly, but it means that you are more to the moderate / aggressive end of the scale. With someone like that, the concern is how much further will you progress; with or without medication. Remember, even with finasteride, you still run the risk of losing more hair over time.
There is a risk of early transplantation. The problem would be that if you need multiple surgeries over time will you run out of donor hair?
If you go down the road of having a hair transplant, the key question is which technique would be better? There will be a lot of factors affecting that decision; but purely on an age basis, one could argue that you are better off starting with FUT and progressing to FUE later...
      Good luck!

Hi Doctors, very informative videos. Thank you. I’m 54 years old and I’m considering surgery at this point, as the thinning has been more progressive in the last couple of years. My question is does Finasteride help maintain the existing hair after the surgery? I’m hoping that surgery fills in the empty spots and then FIN will help in maintaining the rest. Also, I’ve been using Nioxin for sometime now, and want to know if that shampoo also helps to maintain. Any other medications/shampoos in the market o should consider? Thank you in advance.

I’m no doctor, but from everything I have heard, even after hair transplant, finasteride (and possibly minoxidil, though I am not sure) is a must in order to maintain your new hair. without finasteride, nothing is going to stop the new hair from falling out again

I just want to keep my head full of hair till i am 40 or 45. After that, i really don't care if i have hair or not, because i have already lived my youth and i am ready to enter the next stage of the Human life, growing old.
At that point, i just want to eat healthy and exercise so i don't have to rely on too many medicines and assistance into my old age.
I am currently 25, already started experiencing hair thinning and hair loss, i haven't taken any medication yet, but i will probably start with micro-dose of fin and maybe bump it up to 1mg if i don't see much effect.
I don't plan on taking fin for my entire life, it is completely unnecessary.
Just keep your hair while you are young, and if you want, you can try and keep it into your 50's and 60's, but that's just too much toll on your body. Let nature take its course at that point.

It works better the smaller the degree of miniaturisation. So I would assume that younger people would fit into that category, hence making the above statement true. That said, it is not cause and effect, meaning that it is not because of age that finasteride works better.

So since I’m 22 with a Norwood 5 and my dad is a Norwood 5 or 6 and he is 62 years old. And my mother’s, brother’s one is I believe 54 years old and the other one is 50 years old. The younger brother my other uncle, had a Norwood 6 pattern when he was 43 years old I looked at pictures and he had and still has high sides and large donor area (I saw in person) and a few hairs meaning like 10 left but they were spread out, still on the top of his head. My other uncle that is 54 years old right now he has a Norwood 6 pattern I’m pretty sure because he still has high sides and a small patch on frontal forelock. So my question is since they are high Norwood’s but not Norwood 7 (I don’t think) and they are in there 50s and my dad is in his 60s. Am I only programmed to go up to a Norwood 5 or 6? and then my male pattern baldness has stopped and then I can get a transplant?

I was so determined to continue and fought on and on... lowering the dose etc... I finally threw in the towel on July 14th. As of August 29th, I am just now feeling normal again and hope I continue to recover. Severe insomnia, forgetfulness, memory loss, slowed thinking, poor attention, sexual shutdown, climaxes that felt no better than passing gas (no joke). It was like I didn’t sleep for months yet at the same time I was so wired it was like I drank several cups of coffee. Roughly 5 and a half months on the drug. Hair never changed. I have diffuse thinning. I am hoping to consult a qualified dermatologist this time to get to the bottom of the cause of thinning in my personal case. May not even be MPB for sure anyways. No. Testosterone is responsible for masculine features like heavier voice, higher muscle density, bone density, Adam's apple, and body hair growth. Also, my PCOD is declining.

There are a lot of factors to be properly assessed and managed. I would certainly start with a higher strength Minoxidil though like 5%.

I couldn't get 1mg Finasteride. Can I take 5mg once a week? Or what is the best way to handle a 5mg dosage?

Split them into quarters and they will be 1.25mg each

Hello, doctors Jayaprakash and Knudsen. I had an HT about 2 weeks back for the frontal part of the scalp, and I'm 25y9m of age. I'm concerned about losing hair on the rest of my upper scalp (crown already has a little bit of thinning). Is a combination of PRP, Minoxidil, Finasteride and multivitamins likely to at least prevent further hair loss? My father(59) and older brother (35) have a good head of hair. I guess I was handed the short end of the genetic stick! :(
Anyway, would be very helpful if you shine(pun intended) some light on this...

Take finasteride asap. And take zinc suplements. And stop pmo. Drink green tea.

I think what you have mentioned will give you the best chance of holding on to the remaining hair. Good luck with everything.

@@TheHairLossShow Oh, forgot to mention. I'm a chain smoker too. Been trying to quit, but failed on multiple occasions. Could you maybe do a video on the effects of smoking on hair fall/loss? Would be very helpful to many, many individuals!

Yes u can definitely regrow hair, if there is no regrowth by around 6 months, my recommendation would be to up the dosage to maybe 5/6/7 times a week, depending on ur choice
