I'm still on the ps4 boat. If the price is right I'll get the pro, if it's expensive vs the upgrades I'll get the slim which probably will get a price cut.
Yeah it would be worth it to me if BG3, FF7 Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Helldivers 2, etc had a Pro patch that ran performance mode with quality mode graphics.

You’re right but also if it runs GTA6 better (but that’s a big IF). That’s the main reason to buy this. But we have no guarantee that will even happen unless they discuss it. And yes I do think people would buy a console for one game. It sounds crazy but this is the one game I think it would work with.
@MajesticBowler Quite a few did with the PS4 Pro. Most of Sony published games, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, MGSV, Diablo 3, etc. I'd imagine games like Cyberpunk would get a Pro patch since CD Project did it for Witcher 3. Definitely wouldn't be all, but ones like Horizon FW probably will. GTAV doesn't, but Rockstar also hasn't made a next gen patch for RDR2. It's gonna depend on the company behind the game deciding to make a Pro patch.
I think I’ll use the money to upgrade my PC rather than my PlayStation. Bc I’m genuinely happy with my PS5, the fact I can send video clips to my buddy’s was and still revolutionary when I upgraded from ps4 to the 5. Hopefully when the pro comes out they have a sale on the original ps5 for new players. Get the PlayStation community growing 💪
Games on PS5 Pro will look like games on standard PS5. On consoles you can't change resolution, framerate, textures or effects. Everything is fixed. There are no "graphics settings" like on PC. How many games was updated to PS4 Pro? Rockstar could release PS4 Pro patch for GTA 5 but they didn't

I'm waiting for the PS5 Pro and here's why: my current setup is the base PS4 (IT'S LOUD AS FUCK) and a 1080p 60Hz TV. I got both 9 or 10 years ago. When the PS5 Pro is released, I'm upgrading to a 4K 120Hz TV -- double the resolution and framerate as what I have now. It's going to last me the next decade, so it's worth it to me.
A console is basically less than a weeks wages for most working people so just buy them when they come out, don't deprive yourself for years as life is too short.
Don’t worry, you’ll get loads of remasters and remakes of remasters of 9 year old games to run your favourite games at 4K 60 with PSSR to upscale it to 8K (once supported) when PC could already do it a couple of years ago.

As a ps5 owner I don't really feel the need to upgrade. The console runs games well and the few games that don't run well I personally don't play or I play on my gaming PC.

I'm in a weird group. I'm primarily a PC user. I do have a PS4 Pro actually and my PC is getting very old. I have an I7 6700k and a 1080 Ti Windows 10 PC that desperately needs refreshing, but I haven't found the value I've wanted with high prices these days and that old machine is somehow still usable. I recently decided to buy a PS5 along with FF7 re-whatever. The very next day I read that a PS5 Pro may be right around the corner and now I'm kind of stuck again trying to decide. Not a huge console guy, but the value is there compared to PC gaming at this time. I would really like to squeeze every fps possible out of my console, so my first instinct is to wait and buy a Pro. Another 100 or so might still be worth it considering I need to build an entirely new machine basically if I want to buy a new RTX card and we are talking used car money at this point lol.
My guess is games that currently run at 1080p or 1440p/60 fps will run at 4k/60, and games that run at 30 fps will still run at 30 but with higher resolution
@@animegeek6079 no, the majority of games running at 30 fps on current consoles are running like that because of the CPU, like Gotham Knights and Dragons Dogma 2, the ps5 pro will have a CPU only 10% better, so don’t expect those games to run at 60 instead of 30, some other games that are not CPU intensive could see an increase in FPS, GTA 6, for example, probably won’t run at 60 on the pro due to the amount of NPCs and things happening around you. My guess is the PS5 pro will have games looking like the quality mode from base ps5 but at 60 fps( for the games that have 60 fps modes on ps5) while just having slightly better graphics and resolution for games that run at 30 FPS on base ps5, you just have to look how it was with the ps4 pro, it was at least 2x more powerful than the base ps4, but not even a dozen games ran at twice the FPS.
Mid gen upgrade are not that cool they stop getting support as soon as their base variant. If anyone wants highest possible graphics on console and does not mind the higher price then it's okay.
I'm getting a base ps5, on the assumption that there won't be any ps5 pro exclusives, you're only going to miss out on frame rate, resolution and ray tracing. The base ps5 will be cheaper and hopefully as long as there is cross gen ps5 may have support for quite a few more years to come. With Amazon prime I can get a ps5 for £389. I was hedging my bets between series X and ps5 and since the series X power advantage is seemingly non existent price wins!

Seems like is what they recommended back then, new upscaling with a gigantic GPU leap, that way devs can make better use of the memory(even when the CPU is also going to perform better, around 20%)
I purchased a PS5 Slim only a few months ago as an upgrade from my PS4 Pro. I hated how big the new consoles had gotten, I would normally have waited for a pro (the 4k support of the PS4 pro was important to me), but so far there are not really many big games really pushing the power of the new consoles to really sell me on a ps5 pro

The GPU will only be %50 faster than the PS5 in rasterization performance. The Raytracing is equivalent to a 3070 and its CPU is the same.

If you already have a PS5, and are invested in the system, it absolutely makes sense to buy the pro and sell the old PS5. If you dont want to do that, but for some reason held off on getting into this generation *and* care about maximum performance, it can make sense. that 80/20 generation split between OG and pro seems like it will repeat here.
Especially if there is a good trade in deal. Gamestop had one that my friend used to get a PS4 Pro with his PS4. I think he essentially paid $150-$200 for the upgrade.
Yeah game stores often have trade bonuses too when you trade your current console in towards the next new model. I did that with PS4 to PS4 Pro, then PS4 Pro to PS5. So I'll be doing it again with PS5 to PS5 Pro.

And if you never go about building a dedicated gaming PC, this does a great job removing the incentive to necessarily need to go that route if you are fine with an experience that's around 80% of what you could build at a $1200 budget or thereabouts.
Due to frame generation, in cpu bottlenecked games or RT games the cpu performance boost could be evenly to 50%. Like we see in Pc games using nvidia FG + Upscaling😊
It probably doesn't need much more than that to achieve what they want. They probably have information from their studios and third parties that the current bottleneck is the GPU. The PS5's current CPU isn't weak. Am not worried.
Only reason for me would be if it ran psvr2 games at 120hz eg GT7 not reprojected would be a hard one to say no too. And the game has a 120 version in 2D so it must be the ps5 not up to it ?!?! Other than that I'm happy with 2D at the moment.

The PS4 Pro was great because it catered to people with 4K TVs. Since we're seeing a lot of modern games struggle to provide decent 4K (upscaled or native) image quality at playable framerates, the PS5 pro could appeal to that same audience.

I bought the PS5 slim last december and i'm very happy with the purchase. A PS5 Pro is redundant. Any mid-generation "refresh" is a stopgap solution and is completely unneccessary in my opinion.

I'll wait for the pro model, I've been waiting for it since the OG PS5 model came out. We knew a pro was going to release and their are still no true current gen games out so I'm not missing out on much.
A PS5 Pro is just not realistic in this console generation. Too many factors have occurred or are occurring to not warrant this(chip shortage, pandemic, lack of exclusive gen games, layoffs). If they do bring out a PS5 Pro it will probably sell worse than even the PSVR2.
i'm a pc gamer first, I really only played FF7 Rebirth on my PS5. And gran turismo since i got it on launch day. I got some other games like spider man, ratchet and clank, demon souls, little big planet but eh.

The question for me is whether to get the Pro or wait for the PS6. I'm leaning towards the latter as I have a jailbroken PS4 and dozens of titles yet to be played. I think I have plenty of material to pass the next few years without an upgrade.
Hey guys @DF Clips ... I really really like those clips although I also like the podcast. But it seems like the algorithm can suggest those clips way better to actual interests (like PS5 Pro in this case) ... which make those clips more "suiting when the time has come" or the viewer is interested in a specific topic.
I've always been on Xbox and moved to PC about over a year ago now. I bought my sister a PS5 maybe 2 years ago now as I knew how hard it was to get them and she's told me that her controller keeps dying really fast when most of the time she's just been using the console for apps like RUclips and recently she told me her controller is having severe stick drift when again, she barely plays on it and has never dropped it. Since they've said the PS5 is at the near end of it's life cycle, I think it would be better for people to wait on the PS6 or move to PC if possible. PS5 Pro just sounds pointless and that goes for Xbox too if they too plan on releasing a next gen console soon alongside the PS6
I dont have any problems with games being 30fps if it's really locked with no dips. 60fps for me is basically for first person shooters, or shooters in general that benefits from higher reflexes.
If you look at last of us 1 at the graphics mode unlocked runs about 40fps and above at native 4k. 50% raw power upgrade is now a 60fps. I think some other games will use sonys pssr to use ai reconstruction to get to 4k and 60fps or higher with vrr if they want. Its all about how the developers use this hardware.
@@12coco100 Yes, and then the next question arises directly, does it mean that we will have 4K 60fps with raytracing. So if raytracing is to get 2-3 times better plus if PSSR is added, then that would mean that you either get significantly more graphics modes or you can tweak the graphics settings significantly more.
I appreciate Alex input, but he comes from a PC maxing out viewpoint when analyzing console hardware. A console should be judged from what it is trying to achieve, and in that sense the PS4Pro was very tightly designed. I discussed this with a colleague who worked on HZD back in 2016. The team was very impressed how easy it was to get the same game to at “4 times” the pixel count using a box that kept the original price of the base system. The same goes for the Zen2 implementation in the PS5. The cutbacks Alex is referring to makes a lot of sense in a console development environment. AVX instructions are almost useless and more cache would be nice the amount is still very sensible considering the overall performance profile of the system and the extra effort that is usually put into optimizing for a fixed platform. In general DF could benefit from a console developer on the team :)

Cpu’s only help with extremely high frame rates. They’re trying to get 4k 60fps or upscaled ray tracing 60fps. Most console gamers play on televisions that are max 120fps. Zen 2 is good enough for sub 120fps rendering. Zen 4 barely helps when the gpu is the bottleneck and with amd ray tracing, thats always the bottleneck
I dunno about that. Jedi Survivor has problems (stuttering on Koboh for instance) due to a weak CPU from what I gather. Raytracing leans quite a bit on the CPU. Nvidia overcomes this with Tensor cores using DLSS which is why AMD GPU's are weak in RT.
As someone who recently went from PS4 to PS5 about 6 months ago, I kinda preferred my PS4, the only way I'd jump for a PS5 Pro, is if Sony partners with Rockstar to make A themed console and controller GTA6 bundle, similar to the Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle 💚

To me the ps5 is like the ps4 pro 2 or xbox one x 2. Most games aside from a few look like last gen games running on a ps4 pro or one x. Red dead redemption on one x, last of us part 2 or ghost of tsushima on ps4 pro look just as good as most games of this generation. Ratchet and clank rift apart and horizon forbidden west have been the only games to make me go "woah" everything else looks like it came from the ps4 pro generation
Who cares about exclusive games ,as long as it can play new games period. The Ps4 is not playing Alan Wake 2 , BDG3 or Jedi Survivor . The Ps5 even plays the 155 Ps4 games that have the free 4k/60fps patch . I'm playing my old Ps4 discs of Mass Effect and Witcher 3 on my ps5 at 4k/60 with fast ssd load times. Not at 1080p/30fps and make a sandwich while fast travel loads up .
Wait for a Pro. There may be a price drop/discounts on the slim, even if you aren’t interested in the Pro. Maybe you’ll be able to pull in a deal on a used PS5 from someone upgrading. You’ll have more options by waiting

I’m buying a standard PS5 regardless, I do not care for performance if publishers are incompetent for not giving devs enough time to optimize their games. This generation has been nothing but a bunch of bad news: buyouts, mergers, layoffs, studio closures, and tone-deaf people in suits.
TLDR: just get something for now since there's no guarantee the console will even come out. The leaks suggest it's the same SOC with more GPU compute units (how I understood it), so it might not even be worth the wait/price.
A few years ago I would have I always have from ps2 to 3 to4 to pro to 5 but I’m seriously done this gen of remasters! They have only just started doing current gen only games and needing a pro! Think I’m done sticking with series x and ps5

Release of PS5 Pro will increase the audience. Simply because people who will upgrade to Pro would most likely sell their older consoles. There is no price decrease this generation, so for many people grabbing a second hand base PS5 will be the only option if they cannot afford console at RRP. And what is the budget option to get a bunch of games for your console, to try out? PS+ 2nd or 3rd tier. There you go, profit.

The answer to this question is almost always "can you afford it". If it's gonna break you, then no, no video game console is worth that. But if you got extra cash and want to get it, then get it? I have a ps5, will probably hand that down to my wife and get the ps5 pro so we can both have one. As long as it's less than 700, then no biggie.
What Sony could totally deliver but most people would call "unrealistic for a console": Custom Zen 4 CPU Custom RDNA 4 GPU 32 gb of shared memory 2 tb nvme storage The *bare minimum* I'd hope for an upgrade (and a "realistic" one): Custom Zen 3 CPU Custom RDNA 3 GPU 24 gb of shared memory Same current 1 tb nvme storage with support for 2 extra SSDs And most importantly, a *TON* of free game upgrades to improve visuals and performance (120fps I'm looking at you!)
The whole point of a console is for casual gamer to play new AAA games for as little money as possible . I,m sure Sonny could make a $1500 console that keeps up with a 4090 PC if they wanted too . I would choose 4k/60 over 1440p/120 fps. Once at 60fps games look smooth to me ,but 4k looks better than 2k .
I'd say if one isn't a hardcore gamer, meaning doesn't have a ton of games or heavily puts many hours of gameplay in weekly, (i.e. a casual gamer), a base PS5 is just fine. For Sony console gaming enthusiasts, the Pro is the obvious way to go if the price is doable especially if your TV or monitor has HDMI 2.1+ version input & the HDMI features that the PS5 Pro outputs.
True . The whole point of consoles is to play new games for as little money as possibly . That's why casual gamer like console and lower MidRange PCs. . Its why the XBox-S outsells the XBox-X.
Probably just for the pro as a selling point, but i feel thats gonna be use only if the devs decide to use it like the checkerboard on ps4 pro but thats gonna be use more for the performance mode because quality modes already have high enough resolution but performance modes are too low res
I think if you will regret getting the ps5 pro then yes, wait. We don't know what the price will be. Also its hard to know if ps5 pros will be scalped. They weren't in suoer demand last midgen refresh. I have a theory that it will be hard to get any console when gta 6 comes out. You might be lucky if you can get one this holiday season. But I feel like it's game over when gta 6 comes out. It might even be hard to find used current gen consoles and the prices might get jacked up due to demand. I got a series x 2 years ago. I'm honestly happy with what I have. I don't need a midgen console. I don't see a reason to upgrade until games no longer run in current gen hardware.
PS4 Pro is alright, considering I bought it for 284€ brand new back then (Germany 2017) and sold my 2014 PS4 for 170 without the controller, so it was less than 100€ for the upgrade. I'm interested in the PS5 Pro in case it looked better and even more if it was smaller than the current PS5, with the latter of course being quite unlikely 😉. But for sure it would be the best way available to play GT7, which I enjoy very much on the PS4 since its release.
People are talking about how DF missed the “weekend leak” as if DF doesn’t already have a wealth of information about the PS5 Professional with them. They already mentioned the upscaling and AI block in an earlier video, as well as the measly freq. upclock on the CPU. The leak is a further confirmation of what they have been talking about for months now.
With all 11 games - WOW (seriously not impressed). I'll pass on a console that has virtually no newer worthwhile games to choose from... Buy or build a decent PC for just a few hundred bucks more than a console - there are literally hundreds of genuinely worthwhile games to play on steam (and other platforms) - much cheaper than what consoles charge!! The only thing you really lose is the console automatic plug'n'play feature where it 99.9% reliably works & you don't have to tinker with a shit microsoft o/s update or maybe have to readjust some pc settings.
... or maybe look out for PS5 sales and the used market to get base PS5 quite cheap and don't bother about maybe that second quality mode for upcoming games that PS5 Pro is going to get, because after all game devs will make sure their stuff runs on a base PS5 in a good way since the user base is much higher than with the Pro.

2k resolution and 60 fps with no stutter for every game as a minimum, and this thing is mine D1. If it's just a bump to ray tracing with only minor improvements to resolution and FPS, then I'm out

You’re right but also if it runs GTA6 better (but that’s a big IF). That’s the main reason to buy this. But we have no guarantee that will even happen unless they discuss it. And yes I do think people would buy a console for one game. It sounds crazy but this is the one game I think it would work with.
@MajesticBowler Quite a few did with the PS4 Pro. Most of Sony published games, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, MGSV, Diablo 3, etc.
I'd imagine games like Cyberpunk would get a Pro patch since CD Project did it for Witcher 3. Definitely wouldn't be all, but ones like Horizon FW probably will.
GTAV doesn't, but Rockstar also hasn't made a next gen patch for RDR2. It's gonna depend on the company behind the game deciding to make a Pro patch.
I think I’ll use the money to upgrade my PC rather than my PlayStation. Bc I’m genuinely happy with my PS5, the fact I can send video clips to my buddy’s was and still revolutionary when I upgraded from ps4 to the 5. Hopefully when the pro comes out they have a sale on the original ps5 for new players. Get the PlayStation community growing 💪

When I came to PS4 from the XBox1, the fact that I was not able to send videos was such a pathetic downgrade, even more sad that it’s a PS5 feature.

Games on PS5 Pro will look like games on standard PS5. On consoles you can't change resolution, framerate, textures or effects. Everything is fixed. There are no "graphics settings" like on PC. How many games was updated to PS4 Pro? Rockstar could release PS4 Pro patch for GTA 5 but they didn't

I'm waiting for the PS5 Pro and here's why: my current setup is the base PS4 (IT'S LOUD AS FUCK) and a 1080p 60Hz TV. I got both 9 or 10 years ago. When the PS5 Pro is released, I'm upgrading to a 4K 120Hz TV -- double the resolution and framerate as what I have now. It's going to last me the next decade, so it's worth it to me.

As a ps5 owner I don't really feel the need to upgrade. The console runs games well and the few games that don't run well I personally don't play or I play on my gaming PC.

I'm in a weird group. I'm primarily a PC user. I do have a PS4 Pro actually and my PC is getting very old. I have an I7 6700k and a 1080 Ti Windows 10 PC that desperately needs refreshing, but I haven't found the value I've wanted with high prices these days and that old machine is somehow still usable. I recently decided to buy a PS5 along with FF7 re-whatever. The very next day I read that a PS5 Pro may be right around the corner and now I'm kind of stuck again trying to decide. Not a huge console guy, but the value is there compared to PC gaming at this time. I would really like to squeeze every fps possible out of my console, so my first instinct is to wait and buy a Pro. Another 100 or so might still be worth it considering I need to build an entirely new machine basically if I want to buy a new RTX card and we are talking used car money at this point lol.
I recently got the $450 PS5 slim + Spiderman 2 bundle, and I'm very happy with it, but part of me is getting ready to regret it if a Pro comes soon.
My guess is games that currently run at 1080p or 1440p/60 fps will run at 4k/60, and games that run at 30 fps will still run at 30 but with higher resolution

@@animegeek6079 no, the majority of games running at 30 fps on current consoles are running like that because of the CPU, like Gotham Knights and Dragons Dogma 2, the ps5 pro will have a CPU only 10% better, so don’t expect those games to run at 60 instead of 30, some other games that are not CPU intensive could see an increase in FPS, GTA 6, for example, probably won’t run at 60 on the pro due to the amount of NPCs and things happening around you.
My guess is the PS5 pro will have games looking like the quality mode from base ps5 but at 60 fps( for the games that have 60 fps modes on ps5) while just having slightly better graphics and resolution for games that run at 30 FPS on base ps5, you just have to look how it was with the ps4 pro, it was at least 2x more powerful than the base ps4, but not even a dozen games ran at twice the FPS.

I'm getting a base ps5, on the assumption that there won't be any ps5 pro exclusives, you're only going to miss out on frame rate, resolution and ray tracing. The base ps5 will be cheaper and hopefully as long as there is cross gen ps5 may have support for quite a few more years to come. With Amazon prime I can get a ps5 for £389. I was hedging my bets between series X and ps5 and since the series X power advantage is seemingly non existent price wins!

I purchased a PS5 Slim only a few months ago as an upgrade from my PS4 Pro. I hated how big the new consoles had gotten, I would normally have waited for a pro (the 4k support of the PS4 pro was important to me), but so far there are not really many big games really pushing the power of the new consoles to really sell me on a ps5 pro

@@RagoonCrownDude Teraflops can’t be compared to different architecture. 33 Teraflops of RNDA3 is slightly below the RX 7700xt. Along with it sharing bandwidth with the CPU. The GPU will only be %50 faster than the PS5 in rasterization performance. The Raytracing is equivalent to a 3070 and its CPU is the same.

If you already have a PS5, and are invested in the system, it absolutely makes sense to buy the pro and sell the old PS5. If you dont want to do that, but for some reason held off on getting into this generation *and* care about maximum performance, it can make sense.

Yeah game stores often have trade bonuses too when you trade your current console in towards the next new model. I did that with PS4 to PS4 Pro, then PS4 Pro to PS5. So I'll be doing it again with PS5 to PS5 Pro.

It probably doesn't need much more than that to achieve what they want. They probably have information from their studios and third parties that the current bottleneck is the GPU. The PS5's current CPU isn't weak. Am not worried.
Only reason for me would be if it ran psvr2 games at 120hz eg GT7 not reprojected would be a hard one to say no too. And the game has a 120 version in 2D so it must be the ps5 not up to it ?!?! Other than that I'm happy with 2D at the moment.

The PS4 Pro was great because it catered to people with 4K TVs. Since we're seeing a lot of modern games struggle to provide decent 4K (upscaled or native) image quality at playable framerates, the PS5 pro could appeal to that same audience.
It's amazing that so many people can't see that obvious factor.

A PS5 Pro is just not realistic in this console generation. Too many factors have occurred or are occurring to not warrant this(chip shortage, pandemic, lack of exclusive gen games, layoffs). If they do bring out a PS5 Pro it will probably sell worse than even the PSVR2.
I'm in the same camp, they do not have the library to make that push this time around. (PS4 games already play well)

Hey guys @DF Clips ... I really really like those clips although I also like the podcast.
But it seems like the algorithm can suggest those clips way better to actual interests (like PS5 Pro in this case) ... which make those clips more "suiting when the time has come" or the viewer is interested in a specific topic.
I've always been on Xbox and moved to PC about over a year ago now. I bought my sister a PS5 maybe 2 years ago now as I knew how hard it was to get them and she's told me that her controller keeps dying really fast when most of the time she's just been using the console for apps like RUclips and recently she told me her controller is having severe stick drift when again, she barely plays on it and has never dropped it. Since they've said the PS5 is at the near end of it's life cycle, I think it would be better for people to wait on the PS6 or move to PC if possible. PS5 Pro just sounds pointless and that goes for Xbox too if they too plan on releasing a next gen console soon alongside the PS6

I dont have any problems with games being 30fps if it's really locked with no dips. 60fps for me is basically for first person shooters, or shooters in general that benefits from higher reflexes.
I'm assuming that with around 45 percent more graphics performance on the PS5 Pro you can play in fidelity mode at 60 fps?
If you look at last of us 1 at the graphics mode unlocked runs about 40fps and above at native 4k. 50% raw power upgrade is now a 60fps. I think some other games will use sonys pssr to use ai reconstruction to get to 4k and 60fps or higher with vrr if they want. Its all about how the developers use this hardware.
@@12coco100 Yes, and then the next question arises directly, does it mean that we will have 4K 60fps with raytracing. So if raytracing is to get 2-3 times better plus if PSSR is added, then that would mean that you either get significantly more graphics modes or you can tweak the graphics settings significantly more.

I appreciate Alex input, but he comes from a PC maxing out viewpoint when analyzing console hardware. A console should be judged from what it is trying to achieve, and in that sense the PS4Pro was very tightly designed. I discussed this with a colleague who worked on HZD back in 2016. The team was very impressed how easy it was to get the same game to at “4 times” the pixel count using a box that kept the original price of the base system.
The same goes for the Zen2 implementation in the PS5. The cutbacks Alex is referring to makes a lot of sense in a console development environment. AVX instructions are almost useless and more cache would be nice the amount is still very sensible considering the overall performance profile of the system and the extra effort that is usually put into optimizing for a fixed platform.
In general DF could benefit from a console developer on the team :)

Cpu’s only help with extremely high frame rates. They’re trying to get 4k 60fps or upscaled ray tracing 60fps. Most console gamers play on televisions that are max 120fps. Zen 2 is good enough for sub 120fps rendering. Zen 4 barely helps when the gpu is the bottleneck and with amd ray tracing, thats always the bottleneck
I dunno about that. Jedi Survivor has problems (stuttering on Koboh for instance) due to a weak CPU from what I gather. Raytracing leans quite a bit on the CPU. Nvidia overcomes this with Tensor cores using DLSS which is why AMD GPU's are weak in RT.
I hope its able to do quality in 60fps and graphics maybe in 90fps.
As someone who recently went from PS4 to PS5 about 6 months ago, I kinda preferred my PS4, the only way I'd jump for a PS5 Pro, is if Sony partners with Rockstar to make A themed console and controller GTA6 bundle, similar to the Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle 💚

To me the ps5 is like the ps4 pro 2 or xbox one x 2. Most games aside from a few look like last gen games running on a ps4 pro or one x. Red dead redemption on one x, last of us part 2 or ghost of tsushima on ps4 pro look just as good as most games of this generation. Ratchet and clank rift apart and horizon forbidden west have been the only games to make me go "woah" everything else looks like it came from the ps4 pro generation

I’m buying a standard PS5 regardless, I do not care for performance if publishers are incompetent for not giving devs enough time to optimize their games.
This generation has been nothing but a bunch of bad news: buyouts, mergers, layoffs, studio closures, and tone-deaf people in suits.
TLDR: just get something for now since there's no guarantee the console will even come out. The leaks suggest it's the same SOC with more GPU compute units (how I understood it), so it might not even be worth the wait/price.

Release of PS5 Pro will increase the audience. Simply because people who will upgrade to Pro would most likely sell their older consoles.
There is no price decrease this generation, so for many people grabbing a second hand base PS5 will be the only option if they cannot afford console at RRP.

The answer to this question is almost always "can you afford it". If it's gonna break you, then no, no video game console is worth that. But if you got extra cash and want to get it, then get it? I have a ps5, will probably hand that down to my wife and get the ps5 pro so we can both have one. As long as it's less than 700, then no biggie.
What Sony could totally deliver but most people would call "unrealistic for a console":

Custom RDNA 4 GPU
32 gb of shared memory
2 tb nvme storage
The *bare minimum* I'd hope for an upgrade (and a "realistic" one):
Custom Zen 3 CPU
Custom RDNA 3 GPU
24 gb of shared memory
Same current 1 tb nvme storage with support for 2 extra SSDs
And most importantly, a *TON* of free game upgrades to improve visuals and performance (120fps I'm looking at you!)

I would choose 4k/60 over 1440p/120 fps.
Once at 60fps games look smooth to me ,but 4k looks better than 2k .
I'd say if one isn't a hardcore gamer, meaning doesn't have a ton of games or heavily puts many hours of gameplay in weekly, (i.e. a casual gamer), a base PS5 is just fine.
For Sony console gaming enthusiasts, the Pro is the obvious way to go if the price is doable especially if your TV or monitor has HDMI 2.1+ version input & the HDMI features that the PS5 Pro outputs.

Probably just for the pro as a selling point, but i feel thats gonna be use only if the devs decide to use it like the checkerboard on ps4 pro but thats gonna be use more for the performance mode because quality modes already have high enough resolution but performance modes are too low res

I have a theory that it will be hard to get any console when gta 6 comes out. You might be lucky if you can get one this holiday season. But I feel like it's game over when gta 6 comes out. It might even be hard to find used current gen consoles and the prices might get jacked up due to demand.
I got a series x 2 years ago. I'm honestly happy with what I have. I don't need a midgen console. I don't see a reason to upgrade until games no longer run in current gen hardware.
I have Series X and PS4 Pro and I am waiting for the PS5 Pro, it would be great if Microsoft release there own pro console.
PS4 Pro is alright, considering I bought it for 284€ brand new back then (Germany 2017) and sold my 2014 PS4 for 170 without the controller, so it was less than 100€ for the upgrade.
I'm interested in the PS5 Pro in case it looked better and even more if it was smaller than the current PS5, with the latter of course being quite unlikely 😉. But for sure it would be the best way available to play GT7, which I enjoy very much on the PS4 since its release.

People are talking about how DF missed the “weekend leak” as if DF doesn’t already have a wealth of information about the PS5 Professional with them. They already mentioned the upscaling and AI block in an earlier video, as well as the measly freq. upclock on the CPU. The leak is a further confirmation of what they have been talking about for months now.

Buy or build a decent PC for just a few hundred bucks more than a console - there are literally hundreds of genuinely worthwhile games to play on steam (and other platforms) - much cheaper than what consoles charge!!
The only thing you really lose is the console automatic plug'n'play feature where it 99.9% reliably works & you don't have to tinker with a shit microsoft o/s update or maybe have to readjust some pc settings.

... or maybe look out for PS5 sales and the used market to get base PS5 quite cheap and don't bother about maybe that second quality mode for upcoming games that PS5 Pro is going to get, because after all game devs will make sure their stuff runs on a base PS5 in a good way since the user base is much higher than with the Pro.

I never saw a reason for a pro. If they can work on emulation for legacy titles and use the hardware for PS1/ps2 disc compatibility I'd consider buying a pro.
I just bought the PS5 slim...I don´t care about PRO, simply because I play on the PC as well.

So if the PS5 can’t how could they possibly think the PS4 pro was the perfect machine to run that resolution? Resolution race isn’t everything. Gameplay, story, asset density, and physics should be the driving factor. When combined good even 1080p looks very well executed!
It will take 2 years until studios optimise or develop games for the Pro. At launch it will run games at the same resolution and frame rate.
