Devs/corpos are the problem, not console. Just look at spiderman 2. Ratchet and clank literally looks like a animated movie from 8-10 years ago. Also don't forget it's the first console generation to have such a high jump in resolution. We had jumps between 360p-1080p in the span of like 10 years and now it's suddenly 1080p to 2160p. I was going to buy a family member a PS5 for Christmas this year and upgrade my own PS5's storage. Instead, I've opted to pre-order a PS5 Pro and give my current PS5 to them. Ends up being about the same cost, but I also get an upgrade.
I saw a ps5 and ps5 pro comparison. They was looking at, The last of us 2. The grass was blurry on the pro but clear on the base ps5. On the pro, Do have the option to turn off and on PSSR? Or is it always on? Also, you mentioned the pro having a versatility mode? The base ps5 has a fidelity and pro mode... what modes does the pro have?? Thanks for the video!
@@realtalk2528 The grass was in no way "blurrier" on PS5Pro when I saw it. They specifically showed me how much more crisp and clean PSSR made the grass and vegetation look during the demo. Aliasing on abandoned vehicles and distant objects was also cleaned up. Maybe they mistakenly swapped their footage in that comparison? Because that doesn't seem right. Even still - there is an option to swap to the old 30fps fidelity mode and 60fps performance modes like before. They're basically just adding a new PRO option. The "Versatility" mode I mentioned is just what Square Enix calls their "PS5Pro Mode" for Final Fantasy 7. Most, if not all the games I tested had some kind of new Pro setting in the menus. But it's on a per-game basis still, and Hogwarts Legacy is one example where all 3 modes will now use PSSR.
The games that are not optimized for the Pro. Will they still play and look better? I know the pro has way more Teraflops than the ps5 and Xbox. Have a series x but want to play games like dbz Sparking Zero on the best console. The Xbox is fine but notthing compares to playstation controllers! I hoping that the Pro out performs the series X in EVERY category!
That's a good question, I'm not sure. But the ps5 should already support at least 48GBps bandwidth as it can support up to 8k 60fps, and considering i was shown 8k at 60fps, I imagine this port should be the same. It's an HDMI 2.1, im not sure where you're getting the capped 32gb from
@@Nick930 Thanks for the response. A bit hard to explain in a comment, but if you Google you'll find more about it. Essentially PS5 limits the HDMI bandwidth for whatever reason (even though the ports should be capable) and with 4K 120 output the colour space drops to 4:2:2 as a result, it can only do 4:4:4 at 60 Hz. This has always bothered me and was hoping they fixed it for the Pro.

@@jariusspear true it is a price shock but at the same time if their buying their ps5 this late into the console cycle they more than likely won’t buy the ps6 at launch which means they’ll use the ps5 pro for a decent amount of time before upgrading.
The pro version and its price alone are not absurd, if you choose to build a PC with similar configurations you will realize that the console is not expensive. The real absurdity is to sell separately a disc player and a piece of plastic so that the sonsole can stand upright.
You're forgetting that on PC you aren't paying a regular fee which can be over $100 a year to use your own internet, and games on PC are less expensive. Especially when you factor in sales, bundles and steam key stores. In the last little while I've gotten 8 games plus DLCs for about $90 CAD with tax. That's the cost of a single new game on console. 💸
As a developer, I dont understand why people think that PS5 Pro will mean consumers won't have to choose between "Performance" and Fidelity. A higher framerate isn't uncompromised magic. There are only 2 ways it would remove the fidelity option. 1. Sony creates a developer mandate that dictates how they're allowed to use the hardware and must reserve enough resources to hit 60fps 2. No ps5 pro games will actually focus on the hardware, rather it'll be akin to a ps5 version of a ps4 focused title. I.e they'll target ps5 base and use the additional resources to focus on framerate and sharpen the resolution somewhat. Realistically, the reality will probably be what it always has been. Developers will build games that fit their vision. Some games don't require you to push the hardware as much, thus 60fps is more achievable. But for developers that need to push the hardware, especially as the generation goes on, 30fps will start becoming the norm as developers push the hardware more
As a PC gamer who got an RTX4090 and QD-OLED TV, i quickly learned how immersive and gorgeous raytracing is.. When i heard the PS5 Pro was going to get a large uplift to RT, I was excited to see a lot more people get access to this amazing technology. Further, DLSS is a monster tech that every tech company should aspire to. That said, Sony is a master at upscaling TV and streaming content - i immediately knew PSSR would be a great competitor down the road, if not right away. The PS5 Pro is a monster.
PSSR should've been made with the base PS5 since DLSS was a thing before the PS5. Instead, they relied on FSR because it's cheaper but there was signs that FSR is gonna be left behind in the competition, Sony always paywall good features that clearly could've been done earlier.
1) DLSS isnt open Source like FSR, so its exclusive to Nvidia GPUs 2) Sony relies on cheaper solutioks but the usage of FSR its due toit being open source, not to mention the PS5/XSX have AMD iGPUs 3) PSSR its just FSR3 rebranded
@desangrador5770 PSSR is indeed based on FSR but the results speaks for themselves, they look different enough. Sony could've made their own from scratch years ago with their $400m but they spent and wasted that on something else.
@@saintlikegrimm It's mainly because the original PS5 came with a stand included with the console, so many feel that Sony is basically ripping people off by now making the stand a seperate purchase.
@saintlikegrimm Exactly I never bought a stand mine sits sideways just like my Xbox Series X. Not one problem at launch tho if you cut the power to the PS5 with a disk in it. Once you cut it back on the disk will not eject but, they release firmware to fix that issue within a week.
@@PapaShubz Both stands are actually pretty much the same. They are both attached to the console with a screw and despite the PS5 Slim stand having this outer ring, they actually have about the same surface area, the slim being slightly larger, but yeah they are not that different.
If you have the vertical stand it won't fit the pro lol they will release a pro vertical stand after pro comes out Sony has designed a new vertical stand specifically for this updated model due to slight differences in dimensions
60 fps, high graphic fidelity and ray tracing. I dont use physical discs, I dont use the stand. I save money having upgrade the M.2 SSD drive. Placed my pre order for ps5 pro and I am content with my order
I'd assume that most people, in the market for this, already have an M.2 or at least own PS4 games they still want to play. PS4 games take up a bunch of extra space, in the other category, when installed on the main SSD, for some reason. If you plan on playing multiple PS4 games, you're going to want an M.2 or at least an external drive. If you've got physical games, in your collection, you're going to need a disc drive to play them. Offering the Pro, with a larger SSD and no disc drive, seems to appeal to people who only play annual sports/shooter games and maybe a few new games here or there. Keeping the main storage at 1TB, including the disc drive and promoting PSSR functionality for PS4 games, would have appealed to collectors and the 50% of PlayStation users who are still on PS4/Pro. Which group is more likely to go out and buy a PS5 Pro? Collectors and active PS4 owners, who want to utilize PSSR upscaling and anti-aliasing for their PS4 backlog as well as the benefits for PS5 games, or annual sports/shooter players, who just want the latest season pass to run smoother or maybe look slightly better? If PSSR can easily improve PS4 games, how much more noticeable is that improvement, compared to the demos they've set up to show of improved frame-rates in mostly PS5 remasters of PS4 games? If we don't see many PS4 games getting PS5 Pro features, will that effect PS5 Pro console sales? Considering half of PlayStation's active users are still using a PS4, shouldn't improvements to PS4 games be a selling point? How many of those players have been waiting for the PS5 Pro model to upgrade to? There aren't that many PS5 games, that aren't also available on the PS4. There are a lot of PS4 games that don't have a native PS5 version and will never get a full remaster/remake. Shouldn't their goal be to convince PS4 owners to migrate to PS5? Wouldn't pseudo-remastering a large portion of PS4 games, by upgrading to the PS5 Pro, be its strongest selling point for the largest number of potential customers? Is it just me?
actually, if you do the math, you will realize its not that much I mean you are getting a 2tb SSD along with 4k @60fps, people do spend a lot on PCs so why not on a pro console.
Have they said anything about Astro Bot getting a pro upgrade? I know it doesn't really need it, it runs beautifully as it is, but it would be cool if we could maybe get higher than 60fps out if it.
Team Asobi wasn't at this event - but there was a TON of Astro Bot stuff all over the building. Full sized astrobot robot statues with blinking eyes, posters, elevator decals, etc. They looove astrobot over there lol. I'm sure it will get an update for 120fps or something with PS5Pro if it doesn't already have it.
The one big thing no one has mentioned in the reviews is Wi-Fi 7. That alone to me is at least worth a consideration to upgrade. Trade in your PS5 and you won't be hit with the $700, maybe it'll cost you $400-$500.
Sony are banking on you not losing your physical copies but either rebuying them completely or again forking out more for a drive unit and stand. You may aswell buy a pc at this point in gaming Its essentially what consoles are anyway in architecture now and the way they're going with the mid gen upgrades Good vid though :)
The improvements offered by the PS5 Pro seem to be achievable through software optimization or updates on the base PS5, making it questionable whether the upgrade is worth the cost.
700 bucks isn't really that bad when you consider how much a PS5 costs, and how much it costs to upgrade or buy an external storage. the lack of a disc drive is a real bummer as I think I want a PS5 as a multi-purpose blu-ray player now
Yeah the argument that the increased storage offsets the price increase is negligible when considering they didn’t include the disk drive. Just swapped one thing for the other.
if you have a halfway descent base pc, you can get an rtx 4080 for the same price as the PRO with everything that should come with it, which absolutely murders the PS5 PRO in fidelity and performance in every way
That's an interesting argument. It only works if you just so happen to already have a PC with a PSU that supports a higher end GPU + a CPU and ram that won lt bottleneck performance.
Nothing at this showcase. I imagine the same improvements apply, pssr will greatly improve rendering speeds and developers can tap into that extra power to improve existing and future psvr2 experiences
so basically, if i buy a ps5 pro and leave it at performance i should be lock a 120fps? i don't care about 4k to be honest, i want more fps and less pop in/longer draw distance. is it worth it? tlou2 runs around 80fps with a lot of pop in, will it solve it?
Yes to fixing pop-in, no to 120fps. Games wont just auto-scale to 120. Some are more demanding than others. The goal of ps5pro is to make the new ps5pro mode more ideal than "performance" mode. The performance of performance mode with the quality of quality mode. Expect little if any changes to pre-existing modes
The screen your running it on also matters, I think where it makes sense for is the kinda person who spent money on a flagship TV in recent years plus they likely have the money for it. People who have an 4 year or older TV or a more budget TV with basic specs & features might not take full advantage of the extra perks the Pro would bring.
Absolutely going to skip this POS (my opinion). This generation of consoles and games has left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m going to spend my money on a gaming PC this holiday season 🎉🎉
Good choice, you won't regret it. Few pieces of advice: 1: Use PCPartsPicker! Great site that lets you pick out parts to see what goes into a PC and will check compatability for you. Also helps you see where you can get parts for the best prices. 2: If you aren't doing video editing or 3D rendering and such, use a motherboard and CPU with the AM5 Chipset. Ryzen CPUs give similar or better gaming performance at lower price points than Intel CPUs, don't have the massive instability problems of 13/14th Gen Intel CPUs and the chipset is supported for much longer. In 5 or 6 years you can just buy a new CPU, slot it in and sell your old one. No need to buy a new motherboard. 3: Don't overspend in unimportant areas. There are great value options for PSUs, SSDs, cooling, Memory, etc. and those barely affect performance. Your mobo, CPU, GPU are the most important parts. 4: Go to PCBuilder on Reddit or Discord for help. People there will help you out to get the right parts for what you want and with building it. If you're on Discord I'd be happy to connect and help you out.

Hey man, do you know if the HDMI port supports higher bandwidth this time around or is it still capped to 32 gbps?

Great video! Though it hasn't changed my mind on considering buying this console or an 8K display lol
As a developer, I dont understand why people think that PS5 Pro will mean consumers won't have to choose between "Performance" and Fidelity.
A higher framerate isn't uncompromised magic. There are only 2 ways it would remove the fidelity option.
1. Sony creates a developer mandate that dictates how they're allowed to use the hardware and must reserve enough resources to hit 60fps
You're drunk sir 😂😂
Sony will match dlss for sure, but shitty cpu is a no buy
It should come with a dualsense edge
PSSR should've been made with the base PS5 since DLSS was a thing before the PS5. Instead, they relied on FSR because it's cheaper but there was signs that FSR is gonna be left behind in the competition, Sony always paywall good features that clearly could've been done earlier.
1) DLSS isnt open Source like FSR, so its exclusive to Nvidia GPUs
2) Sony relies on cheaper solutioks but the usage of FSR its due toit being open source, not to mention the PS5/XSX have AMD iGPUs
3) PSSR its just FSR3 rebranded
@desangrador5770 PSSR is indeed based on FSR but the results speaks for themselves, they look different enough.
Sony could've made their own from scratch years ago with their $400m but they spent and wasted that on something else.

60 fps, high graphic fidelity and ray tracing.
I dont use physical discs, I dont use the stand. I save money having upgrade the M.2 SSD drive. Placed my pre order for ps5 pro and I am content with my order
So as somebody who pre-ordered and purchased a disk drive what kind of horizontal stand will end up being needed??
PS5 PRO $700 is a scam from SONY.
Insert white cat with headphones bobbing his head gif 😂 Loved the Astrobot music!
Have you heard back about the compatibility on the slim plates to the pro plates?
Wow I am impressed!! I can see the improvements. I won't be getting a Pro but u love what I saw.
actually, if you do the math, you will realize its not that much I mean you are getting a 2tb SSD along with 4k @60fps, people do spend a lot on PCs so why not on a pro console.
@@Nick930 Right on, that would be awesome, thanks.
Does the plates come off the same way as the slim?
The one big thing no one has mentioned in the reviews is Wi-Fi 7. That alone to me is at least worth a consideration to upgrade. Trade in your PS5 and you won't be hit with the $700, maybe it'll cost you $400-$500.
Sony are banking on you not losing your physical copies but either rebuying them completely or again forking out more for a drive unit and stand.
You may aswell buy a pc at this point in gaming
Its essentially what consoles are anyway in architecture now and the way they're going with the mid gen upgrades
Good vid though :)
The improvements offered by the PS5 Pro seem to be achievable through software optimization or updates on the base PS5, making it questionable whether the upgrade is worth the cost.
The wither 3 ray tracing mode can run 60fps? Or
Ps5 pro only run 60fps quality mode for certain games?
Do I need a stand to place the PS5 Pro horizontally instead of vertically?
It comes with a simple one.
700 bucks isn't really that bad when you consider how much a PS5 costs, and how much it costs to upgrade or buy an external storage.
the lack of a disc drive is a real bummer as I think I want a PS5 as a multi-purpose blu-ray player now
I can’t wait to get mine man
Yeah the argument that the increased storage offsets the price increase is negligible when considering they didn’t include the disk drive. Just swapped one thing for the other.
Plus...the disc drives are rare in the extreme.
if you have a halfway descent base pc, you can get an rtx 4080 for the same price as the PRO with everything that should come with it, which absolutely murders the PS5 PRO in fidelity and performance in every way
That's an interesting argument. It only works if you just so happen to already have a PC with a PSU that supports a higher end GPU + a CPU and ram that won lt bottleneck performance.
@Nick930 RTX 4060-3060Ti/RX 7600-6700 > PS5 Pro

You know I’m all for physical media but if buying a seperate drive is the only option for PS6 I’ll accept that vs no drive at all
Nothing about psvr2 working with it..?
Nothing at this showcase. I imagine the same improvements apply, pssr will greatly improve rendering speeds and developers can tap into that extra power to improve existing and future psvr2 experiences
I just want to say that this feels like we are just entering next gen. Like this is the beginning of PS5
so basically, if i buy a ps5 pro and leave it at performance i should be lock a 120fps? i don't care about 4k to be honest, i want more fps and less pop in/longer draw distance. is it worth it? tlou2 runs around 80fps with a lot of pop in, will it solve it?

Few pieces of advice:
1: Use PCPartsPicker!
