I got Ubisoft+ for just 1 month. $15. Gonna play this game a bunch during the next 30 days and I've also been playing AC Mirage, which I'm actually enjoying a little bit more than Avatar, then when my subscription is over, I'll walk away from these games for a while, or maybe I'll have beaten both of them. If I haven't beaten them, and still wish to, I'll buy Ubisoft+ again in a few months to try Skull and Bones if it looks worth it, and to finish Avatar + AC Mirage.

It looks fantastic. I'll try it out when they no doubt release a 5 hour trial and see from there. I'm not really an Avatar fan so it's definitely not a day 1 for me. I do wonder if this will sell a whole lot.
I am about 5 hours into the game - so far I am enjoying it. It feels like Far Cry Primal in a sense but just bigger and looks incredible. However the world is just too damn big and you run and fly so slowly. There have already been a few missions that I had to run 15 minutes of real life time to get to the objective and there just isnt enough in the world to justify that. At least in Far Cry 5 and 6 there were a lot of random encounters to keep it fresh.
I am thoroughly enjoying this game. As a huge fan of Avatar, this delivers an experience that i cant get from any other "another ubisoft game", and thats to live and travel on Pandora. That alone was worth me buying this game. For those of us who have felt that deep ache since the first movie, this satisfied something in me that no other game could. I have spent hours just wandering and watching the fauna and touching the plants, and just *being* in the world. Its not just a game, its the true experience of leaving reality for a while and existing somewhere else. Somewhere beautifully sacred and alive. Maybe its because I'm indigenous, but to be able to explore a place that is so similar to my cultural roots and its beliefs, and for that to be held as sacred instead of mocked and made fun of, its very special for me. I can empathize with the story and although I don't feel all that attached to any of the characters, its not a deal breaker for me. My only complaint is that the story is what it is no matter what and there are no dialogue options. Thats the only thing I would change. Like other ubisoft games, Assassin's creed in particular, I was hoping this would be a story with multiple possible endings based on your choices made throughout, so the fact that its just a linear script was a bit disappointing. BUT I can live with it.
I agree on the no dialogue options, sometimes the Na'vi you play as would say something where I was like "hmm, I would've gone a different way" But I also think it's not immersion breaking or making the game bad by any stretch

It’s a gorgeous game that represents Pandora perfectly and lets you experience being Navi. Do you really need it to be a super deep complex RPG on the level of Skyrim?
My thoughts exactly. I love Skyrim, but if I want to play that, I can go play that, and with mods, I can play graphically updated versions that look modern. What Skyrim can't give me, is the chance to live my dream of traveling to Pandora. No game is perfect for everyone, they won't always check every box. But for those who truly *get* the meaning behind Avatar and for those who fell in love with Pandora, this game is highly ambitious and meets a lot of what I needed to experience. There are things I would add, absolutely, but I am content with how it is. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how little bugs I've run into considering I pre-ordered. Usually day one games are full of issues, but I think I've run into ONE problem, that was easily remedied by quitting and restarting the game.

@@jojowoolin7542 It's your generic resistance fighter trying to take back their home and save forest, kinda thing. Nothing special. But I'm not here for the story, I'm here for the shooting things and blowing stuff... while riding a pterodactyl (ok, it's called in Ikran... but it's a pterodactyl).
I’m feeling incredibly frustrated with the leveling system. After TotK, I have really high expectations for any action-adventure game that includes craftable weapons and recipe buffs. As it is, I wish this game either didn’t have those systems, did more with them, or just did the usual Ubisin of letting pay my way out of in-game chores. It kills the pacing in what could have been a great game.
I haven't had time to even finish it yet. We went on our honeymoon around the time i was playing through it. Im gonna reset and get back on track with content in 2024, including a heavier focus on documentary work and only comparisons i feel are worth covering. Reviews will be more consistent as well if there's no valid comparison video to be made. Backlog reviews are possible as theres a lot of games i wanted to talk about but just didnt have the time to. Ff16 for example, i 100% completed, but just didnt have a chance to complete my comparison
Biggest problems with this game no lock on makes combat incredibly annoying especially while flying, also the ability to keep enemies highlighted as it can be a pain to see where they are which in turn with no lock on makes getting blind sighted shoot in the back not knowing where it's coming from even more annoying lol only graphics issues iv got is the lack on actual water ripples and efforts plus crysis pc level on interactive vegetation...
Being that hitting weakspots is the most important aspect of combat, a lock on would sort of defeat the purpose. Just a couple well placed arrows can take down the helecopters. Also, audio is really important in this game. You can hear enemies coming up behind you if youre wearing headphones.
@@KC_FlightChief I personally like to play games on easy mode gaming is more a hobbie and fun when I got nothing better to do, don't like getting frustrated because of the lack of simple things that 99% of game have so yeh kid doesn't have time to waste stressing and would rather be having fun and enjoying the game 🤣
The games incredible guys after playing for many hours. Still don't get this "farcry with blue people" narrative. Feels nothing like farcry to me. Far cry always felt clunky to me. This game has smooth fast movement and you can climb anything and everything. Flying is insanely fun too. Also helps that it's one of the most beautiful games out there
The idea of Europeans going to the Americas and Africa and launching a campaign of brutal extermination is one of many leftist myths, but in the case of these bizarre giant blue aliens I'm happy to make it real.
I will say, that as much as I genuinely like the game it was fairly disappointing never getting to see the Na’Vi in combat. They legit have no AI, so you’re only seeing them doing some repeated animation. Would have loved to see them attacking the RDA, transportation stuff around maybe hunting animals. It’s not as emergent like the Far Cry series. It’s just makes the world incredibly lonely.
@@martakarolinazmyslowska6903 yeah but man it would be cool if those things you’re describing weren’t only scripted animations. Think about how cool it would be to randomly come upon a group of Na’Vi hunting down an animal.
@@purvue I'm saying most of Ubisofts games has an average story. Meaning that the story is very predictable and they play it safe. A good story would be like Entropy: Zero 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2.
Ubisoft needs to take a leap of faith and let its developers try something new! This game looks beautiful but still it's like far cry 3 that i played 10 years ago. Typical ubisoft game
the people who say they are tired of the same old formula are the ones who will play GTA 6 at launch strangely...they have played all the gta in 3d since the ps2 the remakes and clones from other publishers but yes you are tired of it
I ADORE this game the only thing I wish is the gun mechanics were better you can’t even aim down sights I’m constantly firing wild everywhere lol the bow is great tho
Im facing problems trying to play avatar, I have the game on ssd (thats not my windows drive), have a beefy enough pc but when I try playing I get; audio cutting and resuming, cutscenes not loading in, cutscenes dialogue, background music and sfx not playing and suddenly playing, objects not loading in. Its a mess for me, sometimes I kill humans and they fall, get back up and after 5 seconds die, its hilarious but sad at the same time, the fps are smooth but the game just doesn't load in time.
To be honest...it's certainly one of Ubisofts better games in some time. It has elements of Crysis within it's design. Yes, it has some repetition but so does every open world game in general...for Ubi though...it's pretty unique in its library of releases. On a 4090 pc the game looks ridiculous, far exceeding the console versions.
Just noting, I chose the male voice and I just assumed, by the sound of it, it was Nadji Jeter. I was thinking "Hm, he did this while doing Spider-Man 2 huh?" But I just read the list of voice actors, and it's not him. I'm surprised. Been playing for around 15 hours I think, but I don't know for sure. I like the game.
I haven't played a Ubisoft game in many years. The last i finished must have been Black Flag. So i feel like I'm ready for a new one, this has my interested. Probably going to sign up to their service for a month to play this
Hundreds of hours in AC/FC/WD, took a Ubisoft+ month just for this (AC Mirage was more than a month ago). Played Avatar only about 1/3 of that month's days (and only for 1-2 hour session) because it was so dull, boring and way too hard. Spent most of the month on Ghost Recon Wildlands (2017) and got that to about 80% of the whole map icon plethora. I'd consider continuing Avatar (even with the dull/boring story and dialog; voice acting was decent) if there was an actual easy/story mode - without eating and cooking, with working stealth, less gear crafting, much larger inventory and most importantly: with HUD markers that show me (from miles away, through plants/mountains/buildings) exactly where to go until I'm literally at that spot. Just like you can enable in other recent Ubisoft titles.
Fair assessment as always here Nick. That's always the struggle most massive open world games run into - becomming repetitive. Only a few games I've come across that did a good job to combat that inclusive of Red Dead 2. All of the open world stuff felt fresh to me. But i cannot deny, This game is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The first time you go outside my jaw dropped and I wonder how my PC did not explode with that much vegetation on screen LOL!
@ElectricAlien577 that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying the quests give u direction of go southwest of such building but you don't know where southwest is because you don't know which is north on map compass because it rotates
@wingedhussar1453 It literally does. If you are next to the building, and you face south west, the direction you are facing is south west of the building. You do understand how a compass works right?
I’m so glad you brought up the male voice actor. I did the same thing and changed the voice of my character…his voice and performance is just too bad to ignore and get past..really embarrassing
I personally thought the cloud forest felt too Skyrim-y in how it looked. Yeah it has unique plants and animals but they could have been so much more creative than subtropical rainforest with mushrooms.
Kinda. Far cry has better combat mechanics and variety. Avatar's world does enough different to differentiate itself in that regard. You don't NEED to kill every guard at an outpost for example. The plants also have more reason for existing in the world, whereas Far cry's jungles are all there for show and not much else.
I am 10 hours in and I absolutely love the game, just the fact of being able to wander across pandoras vegetation is worth the ticket for me. Totally recommend it ❤,as for the gameplay , same old same old as all the other 1000 open world game out there. But the world is beautiful in every sense you can just admire the landscape without moving.
The game truly looks top notch. I would love to know the equivalent Console Settings on PC as those would probably be the best for most people with medium tier graphics card like my 3070. I play at 1440p with DLSS Quality most games and it is a lot less demanding than 4K and probably the sweet spot for all these medium tier 8 Gb of VRAM cards. PS: Great video as usual, keep it up!
the game run’s surprisingly well considering the fidelity and will run great on cards like the 3060 and up. Your 3070 should be able to play at 1440p with dlss high settings and even ultra if you use fg if you don’t mind some visual downgrades
man the fidelity mode on PSt is a bummer because the input lag sucks but it looks sooooooooooo much better than performance made. which is always the case but especially so here.
One thing you haven't mentioned about combat, does it weave into the movement system well? If so I'd like to crank the difficulty level where the movement is a _must_ to survive, as a contingency plan for if I finish every Rainworld mod out there and need the (relatively, I'm not claiming that these games are interchangeable by any means) closest analogue just to not have an existential crisis.
It was alot of peek and shoot early, but you can totally set up some traps and even strafe and duck in gun fights, the charged jump/dash is very nice and reactive. I've even ran down a RDA mech head on by doing that jump from left to right and forward at the same time, and the. Rip the soldier out of the unit. I felt like a predator chasing him down with some very elusive movement. I really like this game
They have the chance to at least put some effort into the third person's cutscene, or put a toggle for a third person or the first person to see our gear, just to shake the feeling that this game is just FAR CRY in Avatar suit.
Now 14 hours in, and on the way to get my flying mount. This game looks absolutely stunning on my PS5. One of the best looking games and game worlds ever.
Would've gotten it day one if the game ran better for a 3090ti. He said the game struggled to maintain 60 fps with a 4090 and a 13900k... thats insane.. Really goes to show that even the 40 series is not well equipped to master RT at native 4k which is the standard or at least it should be. As good as RT looks it needed to have been more economical on the hardware before it became a main stay. If a feature is a struggle for even the highest tier of GFX card then either release the hardware that can own it or dont include the feature. As it stands and as i see it, every game today wants to have rt without the ability to perform over 30fps to boot or has to be downgraded in some regard to compensate for the RT perf heft. That's a total limp IMO
I didn't even think about it, But yeah you're right. The main character that we play seems childish, a bit feminine, and never really has too much of a capable or mature personality.. Pretty much in line with the culture of today... Depressing..
Comparing this and horizon is a little bit crazy if you ask me, in horizon you have variety in the combat compared to this trust me. Combat feels flat probably the worst I've seen in a game in a few years it's just boring bland combat you literally do 2 things dodge and shoot and even when you connect with a shot it doesn't feel satisfying for some reason.
Now a days games have become a chore than enjoying something on your free time. Too many nonsensical side missions (just for the sake of it) and upgrades options. Which essentially ruins the fun for the player. Devs need to take hints from games like Uncharted and Last of us where story flows and discover upgrades as you progress on the story. I think Ubisoft throwing same old formula they used in Far Cry here as well but in different environment and different characters. That is another reason this game feels so repetitive because you already done same activities before in another game and you are merely playing a shadow of that game he on different skin.
I know everyone complaining about this being an Far Cry 2.0. but im not seeing anyone praising its visuals and art style.. this is like the most good looking Ubisoft game in years. generally their games look very cartoony and outdated now. But this one doesn't, i think its the result of Massive using their own Snowdrop engine rather than the junk Anvil engine from ubisoft
11:10 The player can very much ADS. Literally, the only difference between this game's ADS and for example COD'S, is the ADS animation don't bring the gun sights up front. Otherwise, the aim sights are still there and getting more accurate compared to hip shooting and the camera zooms in. I have to say, it's pure idiocy to say this game don't have ADS mechanics. I would have not expected this big of a blunder from this channel.
ADS = "Aim Down Sight" You can not literally aim down the sights of RDA weapons. Only zoom the screen in slightly. That's not the same thing. Otherwise you could say the original far cry, or half life had "ADS". No - they just had a zoom option.
@@Nick930 I would argue that ADS is still first and foremost a gameplay mechanic increasing the gun's accuracy with some drawback such as slowing the player down and the accompanying animation is secondary. The only thing the animation part changes is bringing the gun up to obstruct view. Zoom is optional, most games have it but not all. The animation is literally the only difference between this game and aforementioned COD. Functionally the games are identical. But I guess I might be in the minority here. And I will go on record that I would have loved fully implemented animation to raise the gun too.
The game is good but could be SOOO much better for this price. 95% of animals and plants you see don't give any materials, just coulis. There are really only few animals you can actually hunt. You cant sell or reuse your gear, and because inventory is small you have to throw a lot of stuff away. Gameplay is too slow and the leveling system, I just hate it. And the guns are just awefull. It feels uurgh.. really bad and because of this I have to take care about an whole army with a bow?!.. there are a lot of things. The game just feels somehow unfinished in many ways.

Definitely gonna get this once this goes on sale.
Like always, this video is great, but when are you going to review Alan Wake 2?!
Sounds like skill issue tbh
Kid complaining there’s no aim assist 😂
@@KC_FlightChief I personally like to play games on easy mode gaming is more a hobbie and fun when I got nothing better to do, don't like getting frustrated because of the lack of simple things that 99% of game have so yeh kid doesn't have time to waste stressing and would rather be having fun and enjoying the game 🤣
@@arkangel1980 they shouldnt gate parts of the game behind hoppy jumpy puzzles. some of us have sucked at those for decades!
The games incredible guys after playing for many hours. Still don't get this "farcry with blue people" narrative. Feels nothing like farcry to me. Far cry always felt clunky to me. This game has smooth fast movement and you can climb anything and everything. Flying is insanely fun too. Also helps that it's one of the most beautiful games out there
The fact that I can’t play as a human and blast some blue butts is a total deal breaker.
You can't see them fighting yeah but to be fair you can see them just everywhere in the wilderness, hunting, fishing, gathering some plants etc.
@@martakarolinazmyslowska6903 yeah but man it would be cool if those things you’re describing weren’t only scripted animations. Think about how cool it would be to randomly come upon a group of Na’Vi hunting down an animal.
little details like these you can only expect from rockstar. Learn to limit your expectations with ubisoft...@@Lupinvej
This game looks very pretty.
The issue with Ubisoft games is their gameplay is mundane, while their presentation is top notch. Story is just average.
How is the story average, tell me a better story?
@@purvue I'm saying most of Ubisofts games has an average story. Meaning that the story is very predictable and they play it safe. A good story would be like Entropy: Zero 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2.
It's not that repetitive most side quests are different. To me, this has been the best Ubisoft game in a long..
Can i run this in my gtx 1660 Ti laptop?
Ubisoft needs to take a leap of faith and let its developers try something new! This game looks beautiful but still it's like far cry 3 that i played 10 years ago. Typical ubisoft game
The games is very beautiful
the people who say they are tired of the same old formula are the ones who will play GTA 6 at launch strangely...they have played all the gta in 3d since the ps2 the remakes and clones from other publishers but yes you are tired of it
Its a ubisoft game. Give it 2 months and it'll be 20 dollars or less. Then it'll be worth it.
I ADORE this game the only thing I wish is the gun mechanics were better you can’t even aim down sights I’m constantly firing wild everywhere lol the bow is great tho
Will there come also a grafics comparision Video later? Very good vid btw, people say the water Looks Bad at times, what do you say?
Yeah. Water can look bad. Though the water is still interesting from a technical standpoint as they're trying to simulate rushing currents.
@@Nick930 ive seen this simulations in your Video at some points. Does this Game Looks better than horizon forbidden West?
Im facing problems trying to play avatar, I have the game on ssd (thats not my windows drive), have a beefy enough pc but when I try playing I get; audio cutting and resuming, cutscenes not loading in, cutscenes dialogue, background music and sfx not playing and suddenly playing, objects not loading in. Its a mess for me, sometimes I kill humans and they fall, get back up and after 5 seconds die, its hilarious but sad at the same time, the fps are smooth but the game just doesn't load in time.
No idea why that is. Ive had almost no problems. Just had a single crash in 15 hours.
2011 game direct comparison coming ?
Just noting, I chose the male voice and I just assumed, by the sound of it, it was Nadji Jeter. I was thinking "Hm, he did this while doing Spider-Man 2 huh?" But I just read the list of voice actors, and it's not him. I'm surprised. Been playing for around 15 hours I think, but I don't know for sure. I like the game.
I haven't played a Ubisoft game in many years. The last i finished must have been Black Flag. So i feel like I'm ready for a new one, this has my interested. Probably going to sign up to their service for a month to play this
I know you may not read this, but can you do the gran turismo 7 and forza motorsport comparison.
"...Far Cry with blue people..." If anyone likes the Far Cry games, this game is for you.
Loved the review!
The first time you go outside my jaw dropped and I wonder how my PC did not explode with that much vegetation on screen LOL!
they need to patch the direction and compass it rotates so how can you tell whats nporht or south of something
It tells you what direction your facing just like every other game compas.
@ElectricAlien577 that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying the quests give u direction of go southwest of such building but you don't know where southwest is because you don't know which is north on map compass because it rotates
@wingedhussar1453
If you're standing next to the building, and face southwest, that is the direction you need to go.
@@ElectricAlien577 tht doesn't tell me what direction soithwest of building is at all.
@wingedhussar1453
It literally does. If you are next to the building, and you face south west, the direction you are facing is south west of the building. You do understand how a compass works right?
I rolled the dice and I'm so glad I did!
I’m so glad you brought up the male voice actor. I did the same thing and changed the voice of my character…his voice and performance is just too bad to ignore and get past..really embarrassing
I really want to play this game so bad, but for some reason can't justify paying full price. It's such an odd feeling.
I personally thought the cloud forest felt too Skyrim-y in how it looked. Yeah it has unique plants and animals but they could have been so much more creative than subtropical rainforest with mushrooms.
Should’ve been called Far Cry: Blue
Kinda. Far cry has better combat mechanics and variety.
Avatar's world does enough different to differentiate itself in that regard. You don't NEED to kill every guard at an outpost for example. The plants also have more reason for existing in the world, whereas Far cry's jungles are all there for show and not much else.
Also this game looks better than i thought...
@@angusframe710 thanks for the info
tested well on 2 dif 1060's as well. I know. I cant believe it either.
Smooth frames with my 2070s on 1440p on high/ultra settings. In only hitting 50fps but still feels nice. I could tune it down a notch but meh
man the fidelity mode on PSt is a bummer because the input lag sucks but it looks sooooooooooo much better than performance made. which is always the case but especially so here.
Is the input lag that bad? Are you playing on a monitor or an HDTV?
He is playing on a tv with wireless hdmi. smh lmao@@Henny_Daddy
Not many people I follow on YT seem to be covering this game. Great review, although I’ll wait for a sale in for this one.
man your one of those guys that has to have people tell you what to like and play that's sad.
Can you play as humans and hunt the blue creatures?
In the first Avatar game, yes you can. In this one, no.
This game came out at a bad time. Between this and Rogue Trader, Rogue Trader is more my speed.
wonder why he calls them the Nat'vi :D
If a feature is a struggle for even the highest tier of GFX card then either
release the hardware that can own it or dont include the feature.
Uh Ohh!!!
Would you say combat beeing repetative is the same feeling as in Horizon Zero Dawn? If yes that is oksy for me and I will get the game for sure!
As soon as it can be bought on Steam :0
I know everyone complaining about this being an Far Cry 2.0. but im not seeing anyone praising its visuals and art style.. this is like the most good looking Ubisoft game in years. generally their games look very cartoony and outdated now. But this one doesn't, i think its the result of Massive using their own Snowdrop engine rather than the junk Anvil engine from ubisoft
I feel like AC odyssey or horizon zero dawn would have been a better starting point to build from rather than far cry.
ADS = "Aim Down Sight"
You can not literally aim down the sights of RDA weapons.
I wish Crytek did this game instead of Ubisoft. To me it’s a disappointment.
I've poured 100+ hours into this game already and can't stop playing it
Glad your enjoying it but 100 hours seems kind of nuts the game just came out 👀
@@itsme3550ye these peeps I don't get thats how it gets stale I fr just played 8 till 1:30 am and I live just getting off and looking forward to exploring through next day feels exhausting trying to speed run shi and just not enjoy thr beautiful world they put so much effort in
I wanna play this but waiting for a sale
all of ubisofts games are like a challenge mode but spread across a map instead of a mode
I might be in the minority but playing as a human with survival elements would be cool. Give me some RDA equipment and mechs to drive!
Its decent , for pc players I would check your specs first, it’s very graphical demanding just like wild hearts
im concerned about their starwars game now...
I'm still gonna buy this. Just not at full price, like every other Ubisoft game.
Looks like a beautiful game. But I could imagine the gameplays boring and repetitive. Might pick it up when it’s on discount.
